JavaScript - Post Form Data To A New Window For Print

This should be a simple fix.

I have a basic html form with some text input fields and a couple drop down selection lists.

Our employees print the form and include it with items they need our shipping department to ship for them.

The form uses the following verification script to ensure the required fields have been populated before the screen prints.

It works exactly as desired in Safari and Firefox. In Internet Explorer, however, the selections made in the drop down lists are reset to the default values on the printed form.

Before you respond with, "don't use Internet Explorer," you have to understand that Internet Explorer is our only corporate approved web browser because it is the only browser supported by some of our other "mission critical" third party web apps and because it can be more rigorously controlled using Group Policies than Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, et al, can.

Any advice on how to make the form print without resetting the drop down list selections?

Hey there,

I've scrollable screen. I'm having a print button on it and "window.print()" function is called on its onclick event.
My problem is it only prints the "viewable" part of the screen, not the whole screen.

P.S. I'm using IE7 and it must work for IE7 atleast (for rest I'm not bothered).

Hello gurus

I have a page that needs to be printed 3 times. Window.Print() is such a great function, but I can't change the default number of pages to 3 with it. Is there anyway to do this?
I was thinking maybe if it's a way not showing the print page at all, just printing after the button is hit, I could put it in a loop and print 3 times.

Do you guys know of any remedy? Help this poor mortal in here

I am currently creating which will allow the user to upload their own pictures. For this I am opening a new pop up window where the user can select the file they wish and then upload it (similar to ebay's picture upload). The pop up works fine and so does the file upload however I am having trouble transferring any data from the pop up window back to the parent window. I have been investigating the opener method but cannot seem to get it to work.

I'm having trouble getting Google Chrome to print the correct content when I change the content of a modal page with JavaScript. This is my code:

This works in IE8 and FF 3.6, but Chrome 16 prints the original content, not the printable content.

UPDATE: I just discovered another problem with this script. In IE9, the parent page is printed along with the modal (the modal looks transparent), instead of just the modal.

I can't seem to figure out how to post a variable to a javascript pop-up window. I'm trying to get a the users input to post directly to the URL.

Situation: adding code to an HTML page that I can add to, but not change any existing code, as it is from a vendor and gets generated on the fly. I need to add a button within the existing <form></form> construct that already has a submit button and the form has an "action=" in it.

What I have done is added <input type=button onClick=myscript().... Myscript() opens a .php file as a popup, positions it correctly, and all that. What it doesn't do is move the values to the .php like a method=POST would. Is there anyway to to do this, or do I have to do a set of document.write statements?

So, again, just to restate, I know how to do a submit button/form to do action=post, but I am trying to simulate it with a regular button as I cannot change the existing <form></form> construct.

How can I send POST variables to a new window on form submit. I tried the below but what happens is the new window "foo.php" opens but no POST variables are present and also the parent page refreshes when I want it to remain static.

Not entirely sure which forum this should go in, since the problem could probably be fixed with HTML, PHP or Javascript. Anyway, I have the confirmation window working. What I need is for the button to post a variable (siteDelete = 'true') when it is pressed. I would prefer to do that part without javascript, but I want the data to be posted after and only after the confirmation window returns true. I can do that with a submit button, but I'm not sure what code to use and where to use it when using a non-submit button.

This one is tricky. I can do this in php, however, I would like to keep everything on the same page. In a nutshell I'd like my users to export some data but after they click the export button I need them to input a key which will then be placed into a variable and the posted.

I know this is a javascript category and I have php. However, what I want is javascript. My users cannot access the page (traditionally) because a key needs to first be submitted. This is what I need help with

If I can get the user to place a key in a simple input box (through a javascript pop-up after they've clicked the button) then I can post the variable and retrieve the data.

im sure this will be pretty simple, at the moment i have some code which sends text from a textarea to a php file, the php file then stores the data into a database.

the javascript post is as follows:

there is a little bit more to this(just a handle response).

My issue is that when the data is passed through javascript newlines and breaks disappear, so when i call the saved data it is presented as one long string with no formatting.

i tried the nl2br() function and htmlspecialchars() function in the php file that the javascript passes the data to, this made no difference. I then tried to replace /n with <br /> in the javascript before passing the text variable again this made no differnce.

Does anyone have any ideas how to keep formatting during this process?

I have a script that opens up another window and a task gets executed, all of that is fine, but is there anyway that the parent window (the window that gets open) can pass data to the window that opened it? (I pretty much want to enable a button on that page)
