JavaScript - Go To Some Part Of The Page Withs Javascript

right now i have a webpage that has a <div> with an id of "content". in that div I have a list of anchors. each list item displays data that is pulled from a mysql database.

currently I have it set so that when the user clicks an anchor, a URL parameter is passed, which lets the next page populate from the database.

however, i really need to make it so that everything stays on the same page; everything happens within the "content" div. how do i do this without passing a url parameter though?

so far i've written down:
1. click link
2. call function to empty #content div
3. load in fragment of next page into #content div
4. ??? populate fragment with database info, the row chosen by what link was clicked ???

i'm using jquery and php.

I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help:

I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text.
Now, I need help for the below issues:
1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages.
2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page.

I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple.
But, I need some help from you.

I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible.

I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading:

The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script.

If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required.

I'm trying to figure out how to split a url variable... I tried these two ways, with an alert to see my result, but I'm not getting anything. Suggestions?

I've got an idea for simplifying my code and avoid a bunch of switch functions but don't know how, though I assume it's possible.

How do I write a function to change/insert only part of an img src?

in other words something along the lines of

if url contains: "/folder1/folder3/";

change this to: "/folder1/ folder2 /folder3/";

My problem is relates to getting part of the text from a div, then pass this on to a variable which then acts upon it.

Above simulates a Forum like environment (PHPBB3). here user can't insert html in posts thus a customised BBcode ([doc])is made in which is placed the required src attribute, unique to every SCRIBD document.
The goal is to get the text within the two [doc] & that will be something like (discarding the two BBCodes)

I need to extract part of a URL and place it into a variable for use elsewhere on the page. The part to be extracted will be of varying lengths.

As an example, if I have the following URL:

I need to extract "SS". Basically, anything that appears between "static.nsf/" and "/Steve's_APT_test_page".

That value needs to be put into a variable and called elsewhere on the page.

For testing purposes, I'm using the following code, just to see if it works (which, so far, it doesn't):

i need help in deleting a code part, like: table, ul ...

the problem is that when i use rss feeds, lot of them add some code parts that i don't need
like: <ul class=​"similar-topics">, and it shows similar topics
so, i want to remove this code part from the rss feed
i think that i may add a javascript code to the rss template that brings the rss feeds, so as it remove the part i define

i hope you help me doing this, even with another idea

Hi all I am new here, hopefully someone can assist me with the following...

If I have ../PACKAGES/test/run.html stored in the variable myUrl and I want to extract whatever is between ../PACKAGES/ and /run.html how would I go about it?

I understand that in this instance I could use:

var actualUrl = myUrl.slice(12,16);

but the length of the string is dynamic, the only parts that stay the same are the start (../PACKAGES/) and end (/run.html).

I am new to java-script, so please be kind...any assistance would be much appreciated.
