JavaScript - Guide Me : Javascript Problem: I Want To Display Data On The Same Div After Submit.
Hello Everybody,
I have a scenario where in i have 2 divisions, TOP and BOTTOM. In the BOTTOM Division i have a list box and Submit button in a form. User can select an item from the list box and click on the submit button. After user clicks the submit button i want to display some data/graph in the bottom division. However with my current code i see that on clicking the submit button , the data is displayed on a fresh page. Please guide me if this is possible or should i use a different logic. The code goes here. Code: <html> <head> <TITLE> Display Graph </TITLE> <script type="text/javascript"> function processData(form) { var BoardNumber = document.forms[0].elements[0].value; var BoardIndex = document.forms[0].elements[0].selectedIndex; alert("Selected board is :" + BoardNumber + ":Selected Index is :" + BoardIndex); document.write("Trying to print some data : "); document.write("<br>"); document.write("The board number is " + BoardNumber); } </script> <style type="text/css"> body { background-color : #fefefe; font-family:arial , verdana, sans-serif; text-align : center; } .page { margin-bottom : 10px ; text-align : left; font-size: 12px; background-color : 00ff00; background-repeat:repeat-y; border:1px solid #666666; height : auto; } .Down { margin-top : 10px ; text-align : left; font-size: 12px; background-color : ff0000; background-repeat:repeat-y; border:1px solid #666666; height : auto; } .header{ padding : 3px; background-color:#f3f3f3; } .content {padding : 10px; margin-left : 100px; } </style> </haed> <body> <div class = "page"> <div class = "header"><h1> My Company Name </h1> </div> <div class = "content"> <!-- The main Page Goes here --> <h2> Top DIVISION </h2> <p> This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. This is test page. Let's say a web page has a form that submit First Name and Last Name to the next page Instead of filling in the form and hitting submit, can I submit the data in variables and call the next page somehow using Javascript? Thanks OM I have a simple js script which toggles between 2 tabs using a simple switch function to display: block or none. In each tab I have a form which returns data from a db using php mysql. The problem is that when I click the submit button the page is reloaded and so the page reverts to showing the 1st tab. The data is returned correctly but the users has to click the 2nd tab to view it. I have tried adding on onclick event to the submit button but this doesn't work. Is it possible to force the 2nd tab to show if the submit button in the 2nd tab is clicked. Many thanks! Hello everyone, I have a webpage with three different search options. Each option has a radio button clicking on which enables the text fields and buttons in that option with the help of java script. The first options allows to search by PIN. Second one by SSN, DOB and DOBRange, And 3rd one by various combinations of the name. The javascript I use to do this is given below: Code: function chMd() { // initialize form with empty field document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=false; document.forms[0].PIN.value=""; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.value=""; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.value=""; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].LastName.value=""; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].FirstName.value=""; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].MiddleName.value=""; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Last4.value=""; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].First4.value=""; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=false; for(var i=0;i<document.forms[0].elements.length;i++) { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].name=="dOption") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="N") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=false; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=true; } } else if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="T") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=true; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=true; } } else if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="R") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=true; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=false; } } } } } This works fine but the problem is we have 3 submit buttons with differnt actions using the normal <s:submit> works fine but when I use <s:submit action="Search1"> the javascript does not render. Here is an example of my jsp code: Code: <s:form id="Search" name="units" action="Search1"> .... ... <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit action="Search2" name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Similarly for the other options. This does not seem to work. However if I use the same code without specifying an action it works. e.g. Code: <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Code: <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit action="Search2" name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Any idea what I need to change in my javascript or jsp to get this to work? I've been running into a brick wall on this problem, and have gone over my html, css and PHP dozens of times, so I'm thinking it's a Javascript issue (where my skills are lacking). I'm using a drop-down menu script that I got he http://www.php-development.ru/javascripts/dropdown.php, which I have modified slightly to eliminate timeout and change styles on closing the menu (by clicking on it). It works fine everywhere except in IE 6 and 7. In IE 7, the menu appears where it should, but looks blank. If you leave the sub-menu open and hover over another link, the menu appears as it should. Both drop-down menus do this. In IE6, the problem is similar, except that only the bottom border of the menu items appear, not the whole link. The page can be found he http://www.georgekoury.com/index_test.php, and the only options with drop-down are "Individual Insurance" and "Group Insurance". I realize the code isn't entirely compliant, I inherited this code from another programmer and I'm trying to avoid having to rewrite the whole structure. I'm not sure what code you may need me to post, so if more information is needed, please let me know and I'll provide it. Hi, I am new to javascript, Please help me with the issue below. My javascript code below should actually fetch the data from html table on button click. function displaymessage() { alert ("button pressed"); var table_cells = new Array(); var table7 = document.getElementById('Auth'); for (i=0,n=table7.rows.length; i < n ; i++) { var Rowdata = table7.rows[i]; table_cells[i] = new Array(); for(j=0,cols = Rowdata.cells.length; j < cols; j++) { table_cells[i,j] = Rowdata.cells[j].innerHTML; alert (table_cells[i,j]); } } alert (table_cells[1,1]); alert (table_cells[2,1]); alert (table_cells[3,1]); alert (table_cells[4,1]); alert (table_cells[5,1]); alert (table_cells[6,1]); alert (table_cells[7,1]); alert (table_cells[8,1]); } The problem with my code above is that the statement "alert (table_cells[i,j]);" executes properly and shows the correct value. But the other alert statements shows only the value of the last row of the table. i.e., my table has 9 rows. and all the alert statements shows 9th row's 2nd column's value outside the for loop. But inside the for loop it executes fine. I tried it in IE7. I seem to miss something. Could someone please help me out with this? Thanks in advance. When a particular radio option is selected and the user presses the submit button, based on what is selected I want a particular lightbox to popup [like an alert]. The JavaScript below is what I used to turn images I created into radio buttons so I could have my own custom styles instead of using the default DOM version. Any help is appreciated. Problems start when we try that in iPhone or iPad. iPhone works almost fine (except lags and AJAX/jQuery problems) but in iPad it has broken left navigation, wrongly re-sized thumbnails and it displays in half of the viewport. Also, there are problems with smoothness of jQuery animations and with AJAX unlike in other browsers on other devices (like PC). Any ideas on how to fix that? I've flicked through this: 1. http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010...tting-started/ 2. http://developer.apple.com/library/s...62/_index.html It seems like a good place to start but there's many information on iPad/iPhone development on apple.com and their solutions don't fix my problems. -------- Mo 1. Anyone could outline here some basic code principles for iPad/iPhone? 2. Why project sub-page displays 5 times as large as it should on iPhone? Adding this: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" /> doesn't help much and it even makes website work worse. Adding this: <meta name="viewport" content="maximum-scale=1,user-scalable=yes,width=960" > seems like a better solution but it's not perfect either. 3. How iPad's fixed containers work? 4. Why there's horizontal scroll appearing even with overflow-x: hidden? Hey Guys, A litttle new to web coding so bare with me(hope this is posted in the right section). Im workin on a backend panel where i populate a simple table with a few text boxes in there so they can update some values. I also have at the end of every row in the table an Edit, Delete & Save button. When i hit the save button i would like to update that entry in the database. My Problem is that i need a value from the table before hitting a submit button, and the element names are dynamically created meaning ill likely need a variable sent from php to javascript and once i have the value in javascript ill need to send it back over to the php to manipulate and send to the server. From wat i can gather using 'document.form.element.value' is the best way to go, hence why i posted this in javascript when most of my code is php. PLEASE HELP This one is tricky. I can do this in php, however, I would like to keep everything on the same page. In a nutshell I'd like my users to export some data but after they click the export button I need them to input a key which will then be placed into a variable and the posted. Here's a simplified version of how script works without the key: Code: <?PHP if(isset($_POST['Export'])){ $file = $_POST['Export']; $hostname = $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']; $hostname = str_replace('www.', '', $hostname); $file_location = "http://".$hostname."/filelocation/".$file; $list = file_get_contents("$file_location"); # filename for download $filename = "$file.txt"; header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$file\""); header("Content-Type: text/plain"); echo $list; } ?> <form action="" method="post"> <input type=hidden value="$file" name="Export"> <input type=submit value="Export"></form> I know this is a javascript category and I have php. However, what I want is javascript. My users cannot access the page (traditionally) because a key needs to first be submitted. This is what I need help with > Find a way to use javascript when the 'Export' button is pressed to open a pop-up window for the user to submit their key. > Place there key into a variable. From there I can use PHP to post the variable, extract the data and allow the user to export. Something like this: Code: if(isset($_POST['Export'])){ //The user pressed the export button - use javascript to envoke pop-up //<!--javascript pop-up code--> //The user submitted their key - place it in a variable //<!--javascript code to post key into variable--> $key = $_GET['key']; $file = $_POST['Export']; $hostname = $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']; $hostname = str_replace('www.', '', $hostname); $file_location = "http://".$hostname."/filelocation/".$file."php?key=".$key; $list = file_get_contents("$file_location"); # filename for download $filename = "$file.txt"; header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$file\""); header("Content-Type: text/plain"); echo $list; } ?> <form action="" method="post"> <input type=hidden value="$file" name="Export"> <input type=submit value="Export"></form> If I can get the user to place a key in a simple input box (through a javascript pop-up after they've clicked the button) then I can post the variable and retrieve the data. Any ideas? I have a small form that I'm working on for a client. They want a form that their potential leads can fill out and then hit 'calculate rate'. Once this is done, the results should display on another page with a short summary of what their quote will be as well as some of the other information they filled out. It should also send an email to my client displaying the information that their lead just filled out. My only problem is I am not sure how to go about the calculation part. I know I would have to do an onSubmit, but how would I hide that calculation and then receive that number on another page. I am working on my form. Once user put data in the form, I want to save it as cookie and display it in another page as form processor. In my html file therefore, I have Code: <form id="frmBuyer" method="get" action="FormProcessor_Cookies.html" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" onsubmit="return validate();" onreset="location.reload();"> which is basically validate all the data and once it meets the requirement, it goes to FormProcessor_Cookies.html. So, i put a function in my js file to get all the data as cookie as following.
