JavaScript - Need Help Outputting A Sub-list Of An Arraylist
Here are my Two classes and a tester. I need help outputting a sub-list of all the Highly Paid employees.

Thanks, Allusive Similar TutorialsI just have a question regarding Array Lists; I have this array list (Holding is a class) ArrayList<Holding> hold = new ArrayList<Holding>(); and in the holding class there is a method that has status; if status says 'L' I have to print information about that item. As far as array List is concerned I know how to do that. But the difficult part is i need to return it through a specific method() public Holding[] getCurrentHolding() Can some one please give me some pointers on how to go about this? I am trying to write a program that has 4 teammates. The first part of the code calculated the number of goals scored by each member. I then have to write a new class that puts each teammate in an arraylist and then has a method that calculated the combined number of goals of the 4 teammates. I am very lost and really don't even know where to start. Can someone please help me? Here is what I have so far. I already have a class that calculates the goals of each teammate. Code: import java.util.ArrayList; public class team { public void teammate(goals teammate){ ArrayList teammate = new ArrayList(); } public double totalGoals() { ArrayList teammates = new ArrayList(); for(int i = 0; i < teammate.size();i++){ Object t = teammate.get(i); goals E = (goals) F; } return 0; } Hey Everybody, It has been a few years since I have dealt with coding in JavaScript. I will admit up-front that this is for a part of homework that I have been stuck on for about 2 weeks. I will apologize in advance for the length of this. The first portion is showing what I'm going for. The second portion is what I'm currently wanting help with. Here is what is happening: I'm in a Human Computer Interaction class and my group is developing a "Group Randomizer" web page. I figured using an ArrayList would be easiest rather than coding a database. My group is using Weebly.com to do our site. Things that the site will do (trying to keep this aspect to a single web page): 1) Add/Remove names to/from an ArrayList that is hidden in the background 2) Click a button to generate a randomized order of the ArrayList 3) Be able to split the list with line-breaks based on a number for "group size". Example: (adding names) name[0]=student1 name[1]=student2 name[2]=student3 ... ... ... Number of Groups: [User Input] ----> 3 (press generate button) (resulting random output) Group1: student2 student5 Group2: student1 student4 Group3: student3 student6 Then being able to remove the names as needed too. Now, I AM NOT looking for somebody to do all of this for me. What I am wanting at this time is help figuring out how to produce a randomized order output from an ArrayList such as follows: (temporary ArrayList) student[0]=student1 student[1]=student2 student[2]=student3 ... ... ... (generate output) student4 student2 student7 student1 student5 ... ... ... Any help with that portion would be helpful. i still cant ouput correctly this php parse rss: PHP Code: $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('http://www.lepoint.fr/content/system/rss/a_la_une/a_la_une_doc.xml'); $count_items=$doc->getElementsByTagName("item"); //echo count($count_items); $title=$doc->getElementsByTagName("item")->item(0)->getElementsByTagName("title")->item(0)->nodeValue; foreach($count_items as $value){ echo "<table border='1'><tr><td>".$value->getElementsByTagName('title')->item(0)->nodeValue."</td><td>".$value->getElementsByTagName('description')->item(0)->nodeType."</td></tr>";} using this js code : Code: <style> div#RSS{width: 700px;height: 600px;border:1px solid gray;} </style> <script> PHPscript="<?php $doc = new DOMDocument();$doc->load('http://www.lepoint.fr/content/system/rss/a_la_une/a_la_une_doc.xml');$count_items=$doc->getElementsByTagName('item');$title=$doc->getElementsByTagName('item')->item(0)->getElementsByTagName('title')->item(0)->nodeValue;foreach($count_items as $value){echo '<table border=\'1\'><tr><td>\'.$value->getElementsByTagName(\'title\')->item(0)->nodeValue.\'<\/td><td>\'.$value->getElementsByTagName(\'description\')->item(0)->nodeType.\'<\/td><\/tr>';} ?>" function ClickRSS(){ document.getElementById("link").onclick=ShowRSS } function ShowRSS(){ div=document.createElement("div"); div.id="RSS"; div.innerHTML=PHPscript; document.body.appendChild(div); } window.onload=ClickRSS; </script> <body> <a href="#no" id="link">LINK</a> </body> My script runs, but it prints out to a new window. I have a table of ingredients and a number of times they appear in a product. the table looks something like this: ingredient_01 3 ingredient_02 5 ingredient_03 8 ingredient_04 7 I need to write a script/formula/anything that will generate an output where each ingredient is output as many times as the associated number. i.e. an output has to look like this: ingredient_01 ingredient_01 ingredient_01 ingredient_02 ingredient_02 ingredient_02 ingredient_02 ingredient_02 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_03 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 ingredient_04 Any help is appreciated. Thank you. I'm trying to insert a title and a body into a Google maps window through PHP. The body could contain double or single quotes. How do I output these so that they don't break the script? Relevant code: Code: $('#map_canvas').gmap('openInfoWindow', { 'content': '<strong><?php echo $m->marker->Title; ?></strong><br /><?php echo $m->marker->Body; ?><?php echo '<a href="./marker_info.php?id='.$m->marker->Nid.'"></a>' ?><br /><a id="m_location" href="#" data-role="button" data-icon="search" onclick="$.mobile.silentScroll(500);"></a>'}, this); I have the two functions below, I want to write a function that puts them into a chart, I have the chart sorted etc but just struggling with how to get the actual validated users inputs from these two functions into the chart, I've tried document.write('<td> $' + productIndex + '</td>'); into the chart but that wouldn't work anyway as there could be multiple inputs? Just need a way to get the output really. function getProductChoice(min, max) { var getProductChoice = function(min, max){ do{ var productIndex = parseInt(prompt('Enter your product choice; 0-5', '0')); } while( isNaN(productIndex) || productIndex < min || productIndex > max); }; getProductChoice(0,5); } function getProductQuantity(max) { do{ var productIndexQuantity = parseInt(prompt('How many would you like?', '0')); } while( isNaN(productIndexQuantity) || productIndexQuantity < 0 || productIndexQuantity > max); }; getProductQuantity(MAX_QUANTITY); Hi all, I have an issue that seems to relate to IE6 only. Tested and working in IE8 and FF3. If you go to the following page and click 'Buy Now' at the bottom of the page to submit the form the jQuery validate library error messages are displayed at the top of the page, rather than next to the corresponding form element: http://bit.ly/cc97GP Any help appreciated with this one. Seems to work fine in IE8 and FF3 as mentioned. Best Regards, Picco Hello! I have a really simple JavaScript calculator I'm running, and for the life of me can not figure out how to solve this crazy number problem. It's not doing the math properly, and javascript is not my strongest suit. All my script does is take user input of numbers into a form field, subtract that from another form and multiply the answer of those two forms by whatever the user put in. Example: 210 (minus) 120 (multiplied by) .90 = 81 Here is the actual script: Code: // Calculator function CalculateSum(Atext, Btext, Ctext, form) { var A = parseFloat(Atext); var B = parseFloat(Btext); var C = parseFloat(Ctext); form.Answer.value = A - B * C; } /* ClearForm: this function has 1 argument: form. It clears the input and answer fields on the form. It needs to know the names of the INPUT elements in order to do this. */ function ClearForm(form) { form.input_A.value = ""; form.input_B.value = ""; form.input_C.value = ""; form.Answer.value = ""; } // end of JavaScript functions --> And the html I am using: Code: <form name="Calculator" method="post"> <p>Base Average<input type=text name="input_A"></p> <p>Current Average:<input type=text name="input_B"></p> <p>Percentage of:<input type=text name="input_C"></p> <p>Your ball speed is: (miles per hour) <input name="Answer" type=text readonly> </p> <p> <input type="button" value="Calculate Handicap" name="AddButton" onClick="CalculateSum(this.form.input_A.value, this.form.input_B.value, this.form.input_C.value, this.form)"> <input type="button" value="Clear" name="ClearButton" onClick="ClearForm(this.form)"> </p> </form> Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hi all, I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County). I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database. This piece of code is working well . . . . Code: <?php $link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database'); if(isset($_GET["County"]) && is_numeric($_GET["County"])) { $County = $_GET["County"]; } if(isset($_GET["Region"]) && is_numeric($_GET["Region"])) { $Region = $_GET["Region"]; } ?> <script language="JavaScript"> function autoSubmit() { var formObject = document.forms['theForm']; formObject.submit(); } </script> <form name="theForm" method="get"> <!-- County SELECTION BASED ON city VALUE --> <?php ?> <select name="County" onChange="autoSubmit();"> <option value=''</option> <?php //POPULATE DROP DOWN MENU WITH COUNTRIES FROM A GIVEN city $sql = "SELECT * FROM county_regions"; $counties = mysql_query($sql,$link); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($counties)) { echo ("<option value=\"$row[CountyID]\" " . Thanks in advance for your help. 09-01-10 Not sure exactly where to post this thread as it involves HTML, Javascript and embedded media players. It probably would be more appropriate here as there is much Javascript involved.... Hello, I am trying to construct a Jukebox for my website. I have spent considerable time all over the WEB and at this forum which addressed the issue in a 50 page thread. Please see: http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=50666 I got a lot of ideas from this thread but still cannot figure a way to do the following within the Jukebox. These are my main two questions for everything below: 1. How can I have the Jukebox cycle through all tunes and then start over from the beginning? 2. How can I allow the user to select a tune from a list but not a drop down list, have the Jukebox start from the user’s selection and then play all songs to the end. Then as in #1, start over from the beginning? Per this thread I came away with basically two ways to assemble the jukebox. One uses links in a drop down list which the user can choose from. The other is to use an .m3u playlist. The user can only select a “playlist” from the drop down. Below, I have included the code for each Jukebox. To see the Jukeboxes in action please go to my website where I have posted some test pages exhibiting the jukeboxes that I am referring to. The following is the Jukebox which utilizes an .m3u playlist. If I end up using this idea I would like the tunes in the .m3u playlist to be displayed and allow the user to be able to choose a tune in the list. Then have the list play to the end of all tunes in the list. Then start over from the beginning of the list. After this code is the .m3u playlist. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using an .M3U Playlist” Jukebox utilizing an .m3u playlist: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> <br> <br> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="JukeboxList.m3u">Jukebox List</option> </select><br> </html> Here is the .m3u playlist for the above code: Code: #EXTM3U #EXTINF:Bill Evans - G Waltz media/G Waltz.mp3 #EXTINF:Dan Pincus - In Your Time media/In Your Time.mp3 The following code is for the Jukebox that has a list of links in a dropdown list. If I go with this idea, I would like for the list not to be a dropdown list but just a list of tunes. The user should be able to click on any tune in the list and the player should start from that point, play all the remaining tunes in the list and then start from the beginning. Dan I would like to make an ordered list, for example: 1. Airplane 2. Boat 3. Car I'd like one of the words to be displayed on my webpage, for example: Boat Then I'd want an up button, and a down button. The up button would display Airplane instead of Boat, and the down button would display Car instead of Boat. Once it got to Car, the same up button would change it back to boat. How do I do this? Thanks. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadText() { var t1=setTimeout("document.getElementById('data').innerHTML='<center><img style=\"margin-top:30px;\" src=\"loading.gif\" /></center>'",0000); var t2=setTimeout("document.getElementById('data').innerHTML='THEPAGE'",6000) } </script> The above is in the header, and I'm calling it in the html. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write(loadText()); </script> in the page it displays properly, but then it also says "undefined" not sure why? anyone have any ideas? I have two lists/menus that are start and end times and I want to make the end time list/menu advance 2 hours from whatever is chosen in start list/menu. [ICODE] You can find this at http://www.crazywayno.com/2fields.php Thanks Hi, I have two dropdown lists with the second one being dependent on the selection in the first. Options in list 1: 1,3 or 4 List two should be enabled when 3 or 4 is selected in list 1. So far so good, managed to get it to work with only one set of lists, but I actually have 18 of those sets in this form: Code: <select name="fw[$i]" id="fw[$i]"> <option value="1">FWH</option> <option value="3">links</option> <option value="4">rechts</option> <option value="0" selected></option> </select><br /> <select name="lie[$i]" id="lie[$i]" disabled="disabled" onchange="showBox($i,xxx);"> <option value="0" selected>---</option> <option value="1">gut</option> <option value="2">schlecht</option> <option value="3">Strafschlag</option> <option value="4">OB</option> </select> $i is my index generated by my PHP script and runs from 1 to 18. Everything works just fine as long as the index is not in play. With the index my function breaks, most probably due to my inability to extract the second parameter (xxx above) from the selection field. Here's my function, there could be something wrong there too with how exactly to specify the proper dropdown list to enable. Code: function showBox(field, val) { if (val > 1) { var box = 'lie[' + field + ']'; document.form1.box.disabled == false; } else { document.form1.box.disabled == true; } } Finally, I'm not that adept in javascript programming, more like a trial and error guy, how has hit the wall with this problem. Thanks in advance! Joe I am trying to implement a linked list in javascript. So far i have: Code: function linkedList(){ var llNode=function(value){ this.next=null; this.previues=null; this.value=value; } var that=this; this.length=0; this.head=null; this.tail=null; this.add=function(value){ if(length==0){ var tmp=new llNode(value) that.head=tmp; that.tail=tmp; } else{ var tmp=new llNode(value); tmp.previues=that.tail; that.tail.next=tmp; that.tail=that.tail.next; } that.length++; } } } When I use: Code: var ll=new linkedList(); ll.add(1); ll.add(2); both the head and tail of ll point to the node whose value is to, and the next and previues pointer on that node are both null. Hi, am trying to populate my second list box from the 1st. I have done the folowing code, iam trying to call a function in the onchange event of my 1st listbox, but it does not change the URL however if i manually change my URL then the thing works fine. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> function reload(){ var val=form1.make.options[form1.make.options.selectedIndex].value; window.location='upload.php?cat=' + val ; } </script> </head> <body> <?php $host="localhost"; // Host name $username="******"; // Mysql username $password="******"; // Mysql password $db_name="******"; $con= mysql_connect("$host", "$username", "$password"); if (!$con){ die("cannot connect"); } mysql_select_db($db_name, $con); $sql1 = mysql_query("select * from make"); $cat=$_GET['cat']; //This line is added to take care if your global variable is off if(strlen($cat) > 0 and !is_numeric($cat)){//check if $cat is numeric data or not. echo "Data Error"; exit; } if(isset($cat) and strlen($cat) > 0){ $sql2=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM model where id=$cat"); }else{$sql2=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM model"); } echo "<form id='form1' name='form1' method='post' action=''>"; echo "<p>"; echo "<label>"; echo "<select name='make' id='make' onchange='reload()'>"; while($row1 = mysql_fetch_array($sql1)){ //echo "<option value=\"${row1['name']}\">${row1['name']}</option>"; echo "<option value='$row['name']'>$row['name']</option>"; } echo "</select>"; echo "</label>"; echo "</p>"; echo "<p>"; echo "<label>"; echo "<select name='model' id='model'>"; while($row2 = mysql_fetch_array($sql2)){ echo "<option value=\"${row2['name']}\">${row2['name']}</option>"; } echo "</select>"; echo "</label>"; echo "</p>"; echo "</form>"; ?> </body> </html> Thanks |
