JavaScript - Javascript- Restricting Popup To Open If Already Open

I have the need to create a popup after a delay. The problem I'm getting is that the parent page is refreshing automatically from the action of creating the popup. I don't want the parent page to refresh!

This is what I currently have:

The page is in php, so that's why I have it as a string, which I later pass to a template page.

... if it was placed straight into the HTML. Incidentally, it's included into the HTML HEAD area, not the body, as the original source of the script suggested: http://www.itechies.net/tutorials/js...op-delayed.htm

$delay is the delay before the popup opens, in microseconds (so 6000 would be 6 seconds).

What can I do to have the same delayed auto-popup functionality, but without it automatically refreshing the parent page where the above code resides?

As some background to what I'm achieving: The issue with not wanting the parent page to refresh is that each time it does, the login session gets extended. The popup itself (which I already have working ok) provides a 'continue working' function, or close and refresh the parent is nothing has been done after a short period.

Any help very welcome.

How could I open a page/popup after closing one?
The objective is to log the user out if they haven't Logged out or clicked Logout.

I am sure there is a simple way to do this. None of my ideas work.

The only answer I could come with (after testing the whole day...)
IE(any version), Firefox, and other browsers don't support this idea, due to the fact that the user clicked close and you can't impose things on them.

I do write some php, but have not much idea about JavaScript.

I use window.open to open 10 pages simultaneously. I prefer to open them with a time delay from each other to put less load on the target server. This is my code with no delay. (I played around with setTimeout but can't get it to work.)

Hello! I am trying to find a script that allows you to open multiple browser tabs and then close each of those tabs, either one by one or all at once.

Does anyone know how to do this please?

Hi guys i have an embedded game in an html (unity3D) and i am wanting to delete a file from my server.

so at the moment i have a php file on my server and the html containing the javascript on my desktop.

I have an asp page to search for data. I like to open it in a new window while retain the search values. And I also can resize the window as well as set its attributes like
height, width,etc.

I created a js function like this:

hi. i am looking for help (example) to open to a new window in the original window. the original window is blocked from any user inputs. a good example is here at http://www.dominos.com/home/index.jsp and click on "locations" button. is there a special name for this window.open?

On my website, I have a domain name registration field that links to a reseller storefront and then searches for that domain name. I would like the storefront to open in a new window, instead of the parent window. I have tried to insert the target="blank tag but can not seem to get it to work. Is there another way to make that window open? I would appreciate any help to make this function work. You can see the page and field he

I have entered below a javascript I am using on my website. This script is designed to automatically insert videos based on keywords and works perfectly except that my visitors are taken away from my website when they use it.

Can someone please tell me what code to insert, and where, in order get the script to open in a new page.

I am aware how to do this in html using target ="blank" but do not know how to do it in javascript.

I am a new bie to Javascript programming. We have a scenario to launch a new browser window for a given HTML. I have the following approaches :

Approach 1:
my_window = window.open("", "report");
my_window.document.open();
my_window.document.write("<HTML> <BODY> HI </BODY></HTML>");
my_window.document.close();

Approach 2:
var newWindow = window.open("", "report");
newWindow.document.body.innerHTML = "<HTML> <BODY> HI </BODY></HTML>";

Could anyone sugges Which is the correct approach ? Our requirement is to have this code to work in any browser?

I am trying to make a form, with different options and, upon hitting submit, a new page will open with the created URL.

for example:


1) Enter the URL:
user enters: http://www.supertown.com

2) Enter the city:
user enters: Chico

3) Enter the state:
user enters: CA

[SUBMIT]

Then the following window opens:
http://www.supertown.com?city=Chico&state=CA

I have a webpage that display a Reporting Services report viewer page inside an iFrame. In the report that displays there is a link to a product image that needs to pop-up in a new window.

Reporting Services will only allow me access to the url value of the link so we have been using the code below to open the new window. Thing is the code works fine when the parent iFrame is in the same site, OR another IIS site on the same server.

It will not work when the iFrame page and the page with the link are on different servers (which with my luck is the setup I need to have for business reasons...). I've stripped this down to an empty iFrame holding a page with just the link and the behavior stays the same.

Is there something in the syntax below that is causing the issue, or is there another way to go about popingthe link up in a new window using only the url?

Hello guys, im working on another little project for my team here, and the way our system works is in order to change a persons password, there is a certain link that has to be accessed...for example...if i want to change a persons password, lets say

UserID: t-test100
current pass: 911

and i want to change the password to 999 instead of 911...there is a link that needs to sorta load the profile in the background first in order to do the password change, i got the password change page down to a T and it works like a charm, but ONLY when the link is accessed, so for example, this is how the link would look like

as soon as that URL is accessed, my code that i made for the password reset, works, but if i open a fresh window (where no cookies have been logged) and i go directly to my page where i have the script to change the password, it will come back with an error, but when i go to that URL and then back to my script and run it again, it works fine....SOOOO...back to my question...how would i be able to make it so that i have an extra link on my site that i can add to go to https://www.***.com/Sps/jsp/MyChange...?uid=t-test100 URL in a new window...but i want it so that when i click the link, it opens up the URL and closes the window after 1 second...or less...just so that it loads the URL in the background and thats it basically what i need to do, just for it to open for a split second, for the browser to register that i've visited the URL for that particular username, and then so that when i try to change the password, it goes through.
