JavaScript - Wrapping A Link Around A Php Value
I have the following table row printing on a webpage
PHP Code: echo "<tr><td id='counter1'>{$row['counter1']}</td><td><input type='button' name='counter1' onclick='submit();'</td></tr>"; While counter1 is 0, 0 is displayed in the cell. When the user clicks the button, the users username is written to a txt file and counter1 value is increased. What I'm trying to do is display the new counter value but as a link to the txt file like this <a href='path/to/txt/file.txt'>{$row['counter1']}</a> After creating the link, how do I put the link into the cell? Appreciate any help with this. Similar TutorialsHi all, I am working on code to wrap BBCodes around a user selection, then leave the selection selected for possibly adding more BBCodes around the same selection. My problem is that there seems to be several different ways to do it and I can't figure out which one is "the best". Now, I can't use the "standard" way of doing this because I am working with TinyMCE. I know there are countless examples on how to do this with textareas... that is NOT what I need. TinyMCE can give me a selection RANGE, a selection NODE or a selection OBJECT. Note that if I use TinyMCE's range, it internally "normalizes" the range to be a standard W3C range, regardless of browser. I've created a new range, extracted the selection from the user's range, created elements for the open and close BBCode, inserted the elements into the range and finally set the user's selection to the new range. Works fine. I also tried taking the selection node (which is an element), then simply used "innerHTML" to add the opening and closing tags, then set the node to the modified node. Works fine. I've also used the editor's built in "selection.getContent()" and "selection.setContent()" calls and THIS also works. I've even tried using the DOM "surroundContents()" function, then used a regex to change the < and > into [ and ]. Freaky... but that works too. So, my dilemma is... which method should I use??? To recap, here's what I want (blue represents selected text): This is a test sentence. (user selected some text) This [bbcode] is a test [/bbcode] sentence. (text is wrapped and remains selected). This [bbcode][newcode] is a test [/newcode][/bbcode] sentence. (user clicked another bbcode button). If no text is selected, then simply the open and close tags are inserted, with the cursor blinking in between them.... [bbcode] | [/bbcode] (pipe symbol represents the cursor) Any guidance will be greatly appreciated! -- Roger I am building an e-learning lesson in Lectora that will be deployed to a SCROM compatible learning management system. The lesson is converted into HTML before that happens. My table of contents is around 100 pixels wide but some of the page names are longer than that and do not display fully when viewed in a browser. What I am trying to do is this: The page name for this page is very, very long and I can't see it all. Blah blah Would become The page name for this page is very, very long and I can't see it all. Blah blah I've been led to believe there is javascript that will do that. I'm writing divs to a page that will be used to hold images of various sizes, so I'm setting the width to auto. However, some of the images will need captions, and with the auto width, the div is widening to accommodate the size of the text, rather than sizing to the image and wrapping the text. I could wait for the image to load and base the div width on imageobject.width, but waiting for a image.onload is screwing with the rest of my code. Rather than roto-rooting my code to make the image.onload work, I thought I'd ask if anyone had ideas on making a div auto-size to an image while constraining text in the same (or maybe a child?) div. Lemme know your thoughts! Thanks! ~gyz I'm working on a technical document that has a glossary section. When I use a technical term, I link to its definition in the glossary then provide a return link to return the user to whence they came. But if I use that same term again, and if I want to link it to the glossary, I need to duplicate the glossary entry in order to provide a return link that returns them to the right place. Is there some way I could link them to the glossary and embed a unique return link in the link to the glossary?

I'm calling a function from a link in an iFrame, but I want a second function (which builds upon the first) to be called a second after the first one. I have a page with an iframe name="grid" and on that page i am also running a mootools script which toggles a pannel. The javascript for the pannel is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> window.addEvent('domready', function(){ var mySlide = new Fx.Slide('top-panel'); $('toggle').addEvent('click', function(e){ e = new Event(e); mySlide.toggle(); e.stop(); }); }); </script> so this link opens the pannel Code: <a href="#" id="toggle">Show Panel</a> However, i want to make a it so that one link can both call a page in the iframe AND toggle the pannel. I tried: Code: <a href="page_to_call.htm" target="grid" id="toggle">Show panel and call page in iframe</a> but no joy. I want more than one link to be able to do this (calling different pages to the iframe and each one toggling the pannel) Can anyone help? Thanks loads in advance for any reply. Hello! First of all I'd like to take the time to thank anyone who can assist me with this dilemma..... On the page I am designing I have 2 js slideshows. The first one slides images right to left and the second contains the caption for the image and fades in and out. Here is an example of the exact concept of what I'm trying to do: http://designsensory.com/ The problem I'm having is that the slides will not maintain the same timing and I'm not sure how to create a single user control that controls both slideshows simultaneously. I would really appreciate if someone could help me solve the issue or at least point me in the right direction (tutorials possibly?). Here is the JS code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var firstreel=new reelslideshow({ wrapperid: "myreel", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow dimensions: [500, 300], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image imagearray: [ ["css/500_300/Dairy plant.jpg"], //["image_path", "optional_link", "optional_target"] ["css/500_300/slider-big.jpg", "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave", "_new"], ["css/500_300/Hospital image.jpg"], ["css/500_300/Picture2.jpg"] //<--no trailing comma after very last image element! ], displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:3500, cycles:0, pauseonmouseover:false}, orientation: "h", //Valid values: "h" or "v" persist: true, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session? slideduration: 800 //transition duration (milliseconds) }) </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var mygallery=new fadeSlideShow({ wrapperid: "fadeshow1", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow dimensions: [280, 300], //width/height of gallery in pixels.
