JavaScript - Scan Page For Text
Just wondering if there is a way to scan a page for strings of text where the combined text has more than 6 concurrent numbers and then highlight that particular string? I work backend on a project and i have to watch for strings in which if there is more than 6 numbers in a row have to be deleted.
The HTML of the backend for one string looks like this: Code: <tr class="row2"><th><a href="7457301/">7457301</a></th><td class="nowrap">May 19, 2011, 10:59 a.m.</td><td class="nowrap">May 19, 2011, 10:59 a.m.</td><td>asdf485920</td><td><div class="jquery-buttongroup"><input type="radio" id="form-1-status_A" name="form-1-status" value="A" /><label for="form-1-status_A">Approved</label><input type="radio" id="form-1-status_I" name="form-1-status" value="I" checked="checked" /><label for="form-1-status_I">Inactive</label><input type="radio" id="form-1-status_D" name="form-1-status" value="D" /><label for="form-1-status_D">Deleted</label></div></td><input type="hidden" name="form-1-kid_id" value="7457301" id="id_form-1-kid_id" /></tr> The part i want to search though is the name part <td>asdf485920</td> and not the account number <a href="7457301/">7457301</a> Similar TutorialsHi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. How do I make it so that typing into a text box and hitting a button will take me to a different page and populate a text box on that page with the text from the previous page?
Is there a way to pull a text off a certain div on a page, and put it into a javascript string? I'm certain that the field has a particular name and id that I can use, if need be.
Good Morning all I have a code that worked and i messed something up trying to add on to it and i cant figure out what i did I have a form for gift certificates (giftcerticate.html)user enters to: amount: from: then can choose a gift card to include with it. to do so they click a link that sends them to another page (giftcards.html) with a group of radio buttons. they choose a radio button where the result is to be sent back to the first page (giftcerticate.html) and place the result in a text box with a sample of the giftcard image. My issue is that when i go back to the first page it does not pass any of the values to the textboxes. it does show the the text box id's in the URL but no values or place them in the boxes. here is what it sends in the url: http://www.allyscandle.com/index/GIF....html?product1[]2=&product1[]=&price1=&giftcardstocknumber=BBA+-+003&submit=CARD+STYLE+CHOOSEN here is the script: <script type="text/javascript"> function getURI(string, parm) { var url = location.href; // Get the current URL var gsn = (location.href.split('giftcardstocknumber=')[1].split('&')[0]).replace(/\+/g,' '); var img = (location.href.split('img=')[1]).replace(/\+/g,' '); document.getElementById('gsn').value = gsn; document.getElementById('gsn-img').src = 'GIFTCARDS/'+img; } window.addEventListener?window.addEventListener('load',getURI,false):window.attachEvent('onload',get URI); </script> here are the two forms http://www.allyscandle.com/index/GIFTCERTIFICATES.html http://www.allyscandle.com/index/GIFTCARDS.html any help would be great i have been at this for a week now Hi, I would like to adapt this script to make it so that when the user selects something in the dropdown, it changes the text within a div (for example, but so i can have formatting) this is because i want to have html in the text that appears (instead of it being in a textarea) ive been trying to get this to work but not with much luck thanks for any help! While on vacation I've been writing a bunch of javascript/css text effects for fun and I'm planning to look into how I can implement my code inside a url. So now I want to know how I can recognise and grab the text from any random webpage and put it inside of a variable, my script can take it from there.
Hello, how do I replace text throughout a page? I would like to replace: Code: <IMG SRC="../template/wysiwyg/uploads/image1.jpg"> with: Code: <IMG SRC="template/wysiwyg/uploads/image1.jpg"> removing the: Code: ../ throughout the whole page. Thank you! hello i've followed this javascript and i'd like to link the text to one of my page. How do i place the ahref tag in the script.Appreciate your help http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/neontext.shtml I'm writing a calculator script that will need user input (how much they pay on internet, phone or cable bill) and then multiply those numbers by a known rate and then show the customer the new number. I have the math setup (working right now), and the script works to spit out the answers in an alert. Instead of the alert (which is the only thing I can do correctly at this point), I need the script to give the answers for each bill and then a total answer at the bottom. The script is here, it's all in the index file. http://gotsmith.com/calculator/ Thanks. Hi. Stuck on an assignment, inserting 3 files that i am working with, unable to get the unhide or move functions working. Thanks for all your help. ***Index.htm Code: 01.<html> 02.<head> 03.<!-- 04. Hi guys. I'm trying to write a macro, but I'm lost. So say if I have an array of keywords to check for on a web page, Code: var keywords=new Array(); keywords[0]="You are a cat"; keywords[1]="Are you a robot"; keywords[2]="Have a good summer"; How would I make a function that checks the currently opened web page for one of the specific keywords. And if that keyword is found, then execute some action - and if not, then execute some other action? Thanks Hello, I have a 2 level combo box that are dependent on each other and what I want to happen when the "submit" button is selected is for an html text answer to be displayed on the same page below the combo boxes based off of what was selected in the second combo box. I've tried using hide/show functions with JavaScript but couldn't figure out how to link the 2 scripts together. What I have is as follows: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> // first combo box data_1_1 = new Option("School 1", "$"); data_1_2 = new Option("School 2", "$$"); // second combo box data_2_1 = new Option("21", "--"); data_2_2 = new Option("22", "--"); data_2_3 = new Option("23", "--"); data_2_4 = new Option("24", "--"); data_2_5 = new Option("25", "--"); // third combo box // other parameters displaywhenempty="" valuewhenempty=-1 displaywhennotempty="-select-" valuewhennotempty=0 function change(currentbox) { numb = currentbox.id.split("_"); currentbox = numb[1]; i=parseInt(currentbox)+1 // I empty all combo boxes following the current one while ((eval("typeof(document.getElementById(\"combo_"+i+"\"))!='undefined'")) && (document.getElementById("combo_"+i)!=null)) { son = document.getElementById("combo_"+i); // I empty all options except the first one (it isn't allowed) for (m=son.options.length-1;m>0;m--) son.options[m]=null; // I reset the first option son.options[0]=new Option(displaywhenempty, valuewhenempty) i=i+1 } // now I create the string with the "base" name ("stringa"), ie. "data_1_0" // to which I'll add _0,_1,_2,_3 etc to obtain the name of the combo box to fill stringa='data' i=0 while ((eval("typeof(document.getElementById(\"combo_"+i+"\"))!='undefined'")) && (document.getElementById("combo_"+i)!=null)) { eval("stringa=stringa+'_'+document.getElementById(\"combo_"+i+"\").selectedIndex") if (i==currentbox) break; i=i+1 } // filling the "son" combo (if exists) following=parseInt(currentbox)+1 if ((eval("typeof(document.getElementById(\"combo_"+following+"\"))!='undefined'")) && (document.getElementById("combo_"+following)!=null)) { son = document.getElementById("combo_"+following); stringa=stringa+"_" i=0 while ((eval("typeof("+stringa+i+")!='undefined'")) || (i==0)) { // if there are no options, I empty the first option of the "son" combo // otherwise I put "-select-" in it if ((i==0) && eval("typeof("+stringa+"0)=='undefined'")) if (eval("typeof("+stringa+"1)=='undefined'")) eval("son.options[0]=new Option(displaywhenempty, valuewhenempty)") else eval("son.options[0]=new Option(displaywhennotempty, valuewhennotempty)") else eval("son.options["+i+"]=new Option("+stringa+i+".text,"+stringa+i+".value)") i=i+1 } //son.focus() i=1 combostatus='' cstatus=stringa.split("_") while (cstatus[i]!=null) { combostatus=combostatus+cstatus[i] i=i+1 } return combostatus; } } //--> </script> <body> <form> <select name="combo0" id="combo_0" onChange="change(this);" style="width:200px;"> <option value="value1">-select-</option> <option value="value2">Delaware</option> <option value="value3">Pennsylvania</option> </select> <BR><BR> <select name="combo1" id="combo_1" onChange="change(this)" style="width:200px;"> <option value="value1"> </option> </select> <BR><BR> <input type="button" name="test" value="Submit" onclick="go()"><BR> <BR> </form> <body> </html> If someone can either assist with this or point me in the right direction of how to do this it would be a great help. Thanks in advance, Bit of a noob when it comes to js. Hope someone can help me out. I am trying to place text output from a url on another webpage. The output is the status of an alarm system. The URL is: Code: https://www.eye-zon.com/EZMOBILE/index.php?mid=<hash>&action=ssi&did=<mac> hash and mac info remove for security reasons. The URL leads to a webpage that outputs: Code: <update>2011-08-18 21:21:10</update><status> Stay Armed </status><trouble>NO</trouble> I would like to place these three outputs on another page. Any ideas? i want to adjust text size according to a page without scrollers. e.g the page should be shown that its scrollers are off and the text on the page spread from top to bottom.
I'm trying to create two array's on this page: http://www.hollywoodfarmer.com Both array's would be activated by clicking their respective links -- the "I've got more to say" graphic would activate the text array in the bubble. The "Meet my friends" graphic would activate the image array that changes the picture of the celebrities (pls ignore the terrible formatting of the 2nd pic). I'm going to have a relatively large amount of text array variables and probably 5-10 image array variables. Currently, the meet my friends button changes one image, but then it won't change back and is basically broken. The text array is currently activated by refreshing the page and I can't get that button to work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Your forums have gotten me this far! Hi, As you will see with the code below when the text ONE and TWO are clicked on it displays a background color. When ONE is activated TWO is off. When TWO is activated ONE is off. But when the page loads I want ONE to display the background color. When ONE displays the background color after the page has loaded, I want to click on TWO to display it's background color and ONE should turn off as it does now. I can't figure out how to activate the background color for ONE when the page loads. Then if it is activated when the page loads, how to turn off ONE and turn on TWO when clicked on and visa versa. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var btn = function () { var active = null, bcolor = '#84DFC1'; if (this.attachEvent) this.attachEvent('onunload', function () { active = null; }); return function (element) { if ((active != element) && element.style) { if (active) active.style.backgroundColor = ''; element.style.backgroundColor = bcolor; active = element; } }; }(); </script> </head> <body> <div onclick="btn(this);">ONE </div> <div onclick="btn(this);">TWO </div> </body> </html> Hi @ all! I've a div that is editable (contentEditable = true). The div has a fixed size like a letter page. When the user has written so much text that the text overflows I want add a new div above and let flow the overflown text in the other div. (it's the some behavior like MS Word in page view, but now it is in the web) It is possible to do something like this in the web? One way to implement this is to check if the text of the div overflows (I've found java script examples in the web which do that). And than I need the text that overflows to move it to the next div. But I have not found a function that do this. Is there such a function? Another way is to insert a gap at that position a new page begins and use an background image that looks like a page border. With this solution, the whole text is in one div but it looks like floating to another page. But therefore, I have to add a gap between to lines at a specific position (the page border/margin and the gab between the pages). Does anyone have an idea how to realize this? Maybe there are other possibilities to find a solution, aren't there? I hope, you have understand what I want to realize. If not, please feel free to ask me! Thank you for answers and hint in advanced! Konstantin As of right now I have a code that will work in IE but wont work in FireFox...go figure. Basically what I want to have happen is when you type in an area code it will provide an output in a predetermined area of the page. For Example: Input- 512 Output - Austin, TX The code that I have doesn't work with firefox and I was just wondering if there was a code that would allow that to happen. Thanks! i need a javascript that will show LOADING in the top left or top right corner of the page until the entire page is completely loaded because the page is VERY VERY VERY long.... and it takes a while on 56kbps because it has so much text.... like in Google's GMAIL, it has the red and white Loading text in the top right until the page loads... can someone refer me to such a script?
