JavaScript - Use Javascript To Create Microsoft Excel Chart
Hi everyone,
I am new to web development. The company I am working for would like to develop a data analysis web interface. This interface would take information from a mySQL database from certain queries and then save the data into an array. After this the data would be exported to Microsoft Excel where a Chart would be created and then uploaded to the web interface. So far I have been able to store the mySQL data into an array but I have been having trouble trying to determine if you can in fact use javascript to tell Excel to create the chart. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Similar Tutorialsis there a ways in javascript to create graphs chart? i can't seem to find a code on the internet
I run a christian ministry that mentors kids. One aspect of this is tracking their chores. All of the online sticker charts we have used over the yrs have vanished. Currently we are using one that only puts checkmarks in the squares and the kids are bored with it. So I want to create a clickable table that puts an icon in the cells on click. I know a little html and ive designed websites with a visual editor. If someone could please point me in the right direction where I would even begin to learn how to create the script I described it would be greatly appreciated. In case it is not clear what I would like to create this video shows the most recent site we used.( hopefully including the link is not advertising since the site shown in the video is gone. If it is I apologize) It is no longer up. Hence my wanting to create a similar script that can be added to our church's website. thanks again for any guidance. a bit of an aside please don't just suggest we use an app. I know there are apps out that do what I described and more but, an online version is preferable because the kids don't live with their mentors. Also some of them only have computer access at the library. so it is unreasonable to expect them to have a smart phone or tablet. That is, you will need a database where all the information can be recorded and server-side code to maintain and access that information. The most likely candidate for this would be a MySQL database and PHP code to interface to it and to produce the web pages. You really have no choice but to do it this way: If the child used the exact same computer *AND* had an account on that computer, then you could do it by saving the information on that computer. But with a library-based computer, (a) accounts are anonymous, not assigned [typically] and (b) the child may not be able to use the exact same computer on subsequent days. By doing the bulk of the work on a server, you ensure that any computer (or pad or phone) can access the same information and present the same interface (or perhaps a modified interface for smaller screens). This is *NOT* a trivial task. Never mind the pretty graphics: Just the code behind the scenes is enough that nobody is going to do it in a few days (or at least is not going to get it right in a few days). You have to locate a host ($$ per month/year), get a domain name ($$ per year), create a database, create the tables in that database, write the PHP code to modify the database, write the PHP code to access the database, write the PHP code to create the HTML pages, create the icons and other graphics for the pages, and so on. I am really new to coding and am trying to include a flowchart that I have created on my site. There is a series of 5 questions with 2 possible answers for each question. Can anyone help me with some coding that would let me show only the first question and based on how they answer that, the flow chart would open up to the second question and once they answer the second question, it opens up to the third question and so on?
How do I use Javascript to loop through all the spreadsheets contained in 1 excel file? I am now at the stage where I can open the Excel file and find a value on 1 spreadsheet. Is there any way to detect if the workbook has multiple spreadsheets and then loop through all the spreadsheets to find a value? thanks! Hi I am trying to load html stream directly into webbrowser in delphi. The html contains java script. It loads xml and xsl files and display the xml content in the web browser. I got an error, says access denied for the command xmlDoc.load(fname); If I save the html into a file, test.html, and double click it, it is fine, no problem. The code is actually copied from w3schools.com. the html code as followed: <html> <head> <script> function loadXMLDoc(fname){var xmlDoc; if (window.ActiveXObject) { xmlDoc=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); } else { alert('Your browser cannot handle this script'); } xmlDoc.async=false; xmlDoc.load(fname); return(xmlDoc); } function displayResult() { xml=loadXMLDoc("catalog.xml"); xsl=loadXMLDoc("catalog.xsl"); if (window.ActiveXObject) { ex=xml.transformNode(xsl); document.getElementById("example").innerHTML=ex; } } </script> </head> <body id="example" onLoad="displayResult()"> </body> </html> The delphi code is procedure TForm1.WBLoadHTML(WebBrowser: TWebBrowser; HTMLCode: string) ; var v: OleVariant; HTMLDocument: IHTMLDocument2; begin memo1.Lines.LoadFromFile('d:\test\htmltxtold.html'); HTMLCode := memo1.Text; WebBrowser1.Navigate('about:blank') ; HTMLDocument := WebBrowser.Document as IHTMLDocument2; v := VarArrayCreate([0, 0], varVariant); v[0] := HTMLCode; HTMLDocument.Write(PSafeArray(TVarData(v).VArray)); HTMLDocument.Close; end; Thanks a lot I have some data on the client side in javascript arrays that I display to user in a html table on the webpage. I want to give an option to the user to save the data in excel. I thought of a solution that involves: 1. Create an http request and post the data as json 2. On server using jsp convert the json data to html table 3. Set the response headers to open the response in excel This solution works, but does not look optimal. Why to send a http request to server when all the data is there on client side. I tried creating a new document on the client side and open that in a new window. That does not open the document in excel as the response header is not set. Any suggestions on how to achieve this. I want to avoid http request to server. Thanks, Pawinder Please help ... bit urgent I am creating a small automated system where front-end is html query form and back-end database is MS excel. both at local PC only & in a single folder. problem is like a survey form. continuous data entry, error correction, read/wite all these are included. I created a program upto first entry; but the second, third, ... entries and it is continuous. pl help me regards K.Kaniraj Hi, I am trying to convert this excel formula into a Javascript equivalent for a form I am doing in Acrobat Pro 9 and you guessed it. I have no idea. everything is done apart from this. =SUMIF(B2:B29,"LA",A2:A29)+SUMIF(F2:F29,"LA",E2:E2 9) any help very appreciated. cheers I am trying for a javascript code that would ask for the excel file location when run, fetch data from two columns till eof in an excel file (MS Excel 2010), append it to an existing text file and upload the plain text file to an ftp location. The ftp username, password and location needs to be hard coded in the script. Is this possible? I am trying to write a translator box for my website. So far, I've been able to get working code from a tutorial: Code: <input id="ori" type="text" /> <button onclick="translate();">Translate</button> <div id="trans"></div> <script> var languageFrom = "en"; var languageTo = "fr"; function translate() { document.getElementById('trans').innerHTML="Translating... please wait"; var text= document.getElementById('ori').value; window.mycallback = function(response) { document.getElementById('trans').innerHTML=response; } var s = document.createElement("script"); s.src = "http://api.microsofttranslator.com/V2/Ajax.svc/Translate?oncomplete=mycallback&appId=<MY-APP-ID>&from=" + languageFrom + "&to=" + languageTo + "&text=" + text; document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(s); } </script> (Script it from he http://wizardsoweb.com/microsoftbing...itcher=desktop) Basically, once I fill in my APPID, it will translate the text in the ori text box to French. Of course, this all works fine, but here's what I'm trying to do: I want there to be two drop down menus. One will populate the languageFrom variable with a specified language, and another drop down menu which will populate the languageTo variable with a specified language. I've already posted about this matter in a different post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8...from-drop-down (It's on stackoverflow). That way, when you select a value from the drop down menu, it populates the variable. I have a working example of this on jsFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/charlescarver/hk2bJ/1/ (This includes my working API key so I it's easy to work on) SO, I think the problem with this is that the script which controls the translation is loaded when the variables are empty, and then doesn't update when a drop down option is selected. I think this can be fixed by calling the script when the button is clicked, instead of when the page is loaded. How can this be accomplished? The Microsoft support is poorly documented and I can't find a solution there or on google. Here's a link to the API documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff512385.aspx I have a vista 32bit pc and whenever i try to install Visual c ++ 2008(WHICH I NEED) it always stops and says 1935error tokenkey something? What do i do to fix this I tried REFORMATTING MY ENTIRE PC 3 TIMES NOTHING IS WORKING PELASE HELP ME I need to create an interactive map similar to the one on this site: http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/#!/map/ It is a map of a fictional area ( a real area but there are fictional buildings and characters on it) so I don't think google maps plugins are suitable. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so if anybody has a good suggestion of a good jquery/javascript solution for interactive maps, please refer me to the relevant information. In other words, I need a map where by clicking the objects on the map, a popup window pops up with additional information about the 'scene' or a 'character'. In addition, the map will be dark from the beginning and more and more sites and characters will be revealed on it every week. Thanks for any tips! Hi i need to use an equivalent of the php function array_count_values() Any help with that please cheers ewire Hello, I'm trying to create a textarea using Javascript, the function creates a textarea in IE, but it does not create that element in Firefox and chrome. JavaScript Code:- Code: function addRow() { alert("function start"); var table = document.getElementById('tableId'); var rowCount = table.rows.length; var row = table.insertRow(rowCount); var cell1 = row.insertCell(0); var textNode = document.createTextNode(rowCount + 1); cell1.appendChild(textNode); var cell2 = row.insertCell(1); var textArea = zxcFormField('TEXTAREA','option1'); textArea.setAttribute("cols","20"); textArea.style.height = "42px"; textArea.style.width = "496px"; cell2.appendChild(textArea); alert("function end"); } function zxcFormField(tag, nme, type){ alert("2 function start"); var el; try { alert("In Try"); el=document.createElement('<'+tag+(type?' type='+type:'')+' name='+nme+' >'); } catch (e){ alert("In Catch"); el=document.createElement(tag); if (type) el.type=type; el.name=nme; } return el; } When I call this function it goes in the catch block in Firefox and Chrome, the textarea is displayed and it disappears with a flash. I've banged my head against wall trying to figure this out. Thanks, Abhishek hie everyone plz i want to know how to make tabs using javascript.... i want to make tabs like this website http://traveline.idea-sys.net/CSP/Default.aspx?A=2&P=50 --> (M/S Darakum - Description / GalleryDeck / Plan) can anyone help me plz? I'm writing a script in javascript(actually a chrome extension) and I need an object that I can write to it like this(sorry, don't know how to explain it better) and then I convert it to string with format of json. This is being done as a Windows Gadget, so the "browser" is IE. I have two main problems with this: One is caching. I can't get not caching to work at all. I've tried headers and I've tried putting something random at the end of the URL. The randomness at the end of the URL works when done from an HTML file embedded with Javascript but will not work from a pure Javascript file. My other, potentially bigger, problem is that the xmlhttp object does not seem to ever want to open again. I'm pretty sure what's happening is it doesn't get back into ready state 4. That is, unless I run an html file that accesses the same url. Then, suddenly, the gadget runs its update function and it actually decides to work. The gadget still runs the update function otherwise but it doesn't actually do anything, which is I believe caused by it never getting back to ready state 4 on its own. I appreciate any help on this, and if I didn't explain anything clearly I'm more than happy to clarify. Cheers. I have called a table through XML with four fields. One of them is Excel file name. I like to make a clickable link with Excel file name to open it. XML code: Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <searchable_index> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> <item name="Ana" title="Data" link="doc\ana.xls">Member</item> </searchable_index> Javascript code document.write('<table border="1" style="width: 100%;">'); document.write('<tr><th>name</th><th>title</th><th>link</th></tr>'); for(var i=0; i<results.length; i++) { document.write('<tr>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("name") + '</td>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("title") + '</td>'); document.write('<td>' + results[i].getAttribute("link")" > + '</td>'); //<a href="url">Link text</a> document.write('</tr>'); } document.write('<table>'); document.close(); Hi i have an requirement i.e., i need to allow user to select one of color from color pallet and i need to store that color code value in database, how can i do this I am using jsp and js and html . |
