JavaScript - Need Help With Figuring Out The Highest Number Entered
Hey friends, I'm writing a program but I'm having issues. I need to write a program that asks for 3 different numbers (prompt boxes) and determine which number entered was the highest and the 2nd highest. I know what to do for the input and output but I don't know what to do during the processing.

Any suggestions I am working on converting something and this is what I have come up with: http://www.msnsportsnet.com/content/ravenstest.htm However, the width of that is 845 px and I wanted it to drop down to 650 px and make the arrows have the same effect as they did with the 845 px. First I moved the 845 to 650 in the css file, then changed the 845 to 650 in the JS files, I have been unable to figure this out though. If someone could please help that would be great! This is the JS file that I tried to edit: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/includes/jsbin/ravens.js This is the css file: http://www.msnsportsnet.com/content/ravens.css Hi guys, I need some help. I'm trying to make a banner in java or jquery. Idea is div 1 div 2 div 3 div 4 >> custom div1 button >> custom div2 button >> custom div3 button >> custom div4 button I've also added an image of something i have in mind... i can do the CSS but i can't figure out a good tutorial. The closest I found on google was this http://cssglobe.com/lab/easyslider1.7/02.html but its with numbers.. I was going through LinkedIn today, when I noticed something that I couldn't figure out, logic-wise. When you search using their search feature at top left, results come up live... no big deal, easy enough, keyup, no biggie. When you click outside the input box, it disappears, which is blur. However, if you click out of the input onto the search results, it remains, and stays up until you click somewhere outside of the input box or the search results. This I have no idea how is done. Is there a way to know what element a user clicks on? Anyone have thoughts/guidance for this? I'm using jQuery as a framework if that helps? Hi I am attempting to use a javascript code that ultimately shows a live video feed. The affiliate site that created the code says when they pull up my website page with the code on it, they can see it. My problem is, I cannot, no matter what browser I use. Firefox 10.5, IE9, and Chrome all are set to enable javascript. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate. I am also using a premium Wordpress theme. I contacted the theme creator and on the support forum there, he was able to see the code working just fine also so I determined it is indeed a problem local to my own settings but I am stumped. I googled and set my browser settings to make sure javascript is enabled in all of them. I run Kaspersky antivirus; I tried disabling my firewall, no dice. I ran malwarebytes, that didn't help either. EVERYTHING on my pc is up to date, this has really got me stumped. I know I'm missing something; just can't figure out what I also admin a second site using the same WP theme so I tried it there as well, still can't see it. I so appreciate any suggestions. Thank you so much for your time Hello, What I need is a simple service area, zip code validation form that redirects to a certain URL when a valid zip code is submitted and a different URL when an invalid zip code is submitted. I found a form script example that works well with only a single zip code. My problem is I can't figure out how to modify it so that multiple zip codes are valid. Here is the head part. 60016 is one of about 50 valid zip codes I need the form to accept as valid - [code] <script> var correctCode = "60016"; function validateCode() { var code = document.getElementById("codeTextBox").value; if (code == correctCode) { window.location.href = "/ggc/test1"; } else { window.location.href = "/ggc/test2"; } } </script> [code] Here is the body part - [code] Please enter your zip code: <input type="text" name="codeTextBox" id="codeTextBox" /> <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" onclick="validateCode()" /> [code] hey there. the script im trying to write is used to take the values from four separate forms and display an image based on the highest value. it looks like this. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var val = Math.abs(document.getElementById("mytext1").value); var val2 = Math.abs(document.getElementById("mytext2").value); var val3 etc var val 4 etc var showImg = document.getElementById("image1").src = "default.jpg" document.getElementById("image1").src = "default.jpg" // check + values for right sph if (val >= .25 && val <= 3.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "r39.gif"} if (val >= 3.75 && val <= 5.50) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "pol.gif"} // check - values for right cy if (val <= -.25 && val >= -3.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "r39.gif"} if (val <= -3.75 && val >= -5.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "pol.gif"} // check + values for left sph if (val2 >= .25 && val2 <= 3.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "r39.gif"} if (val2 >= 3.75 && val2 <= 5.50) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "pol.gif"} // check - values for left cy if (val2 <= -.25 && val2 >= -3.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "r39.gif"} if (val2 <= -3.75 && val2 >= -5.5) {document.getElementById("image1").src = "pol.gif"} etc etc } </script> <input type = "text" id = "mytext1" > <input type = "text" id = "mytext2" /> <input type = "text" id = "mytext3" > <input type = "text" id = "mytext4" > <img src="calculate.gif" onclick="showImg()"> anybody know how i go about getting the highest value checked and the resulting image displayed. thanks in advance. Hi i need to find the highest average from all of the averages entered in this code, but i have to use an if statement only, no arrays. Could some one help please? Code: // ** Work out average ** // average= readingSum/totalReadings // ** Put average into a category and display everything ** // if(average<5) { catergory1=alert("Location is " + region + "\nNumber of weekly readings taken is " + totalReadings + "\nTotal of readings is" + readingSum + "\nAverage is" + average + "\nLocation is Dry"); } else if(average>=5 && average<20) { catergory2=alert("Location is " + region + "\nNumber of weekly readings taken is " + totalReadings + "\nTotal of readings is" + readingSum + "\nAverage is" + average + "\nLocation is Normal"); } else if(average>20) { catergory3=alert("Location is " + region + "\nNumber of weekly readings taken is " + totalReadings + "\nTotal of readings is" + readingSum + "\nAverage is" + average + "\nLocation is Wet"); } // ** Find Highest average ** // Thanks. So if I have three dollar amounts like .... a = 1,222.00; b = 1,323.00; c = ; d = 1,222.00; How can I alert the highest variable even though there may be 1 or more of them? Code: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE = "JAVASCRIPT"> var contestantNamesArray = ['Tom and Nazia', 'Pat and Dan', 'Sandra and Kofi', 'Ian and Adele', 'Paul and Costas']; var judgesPointsArray = [2,1,5,4,3]; var audiencePointsArray = [4,5,2,3,1]; //code to declare a new array to store the combined points for each couple var combinedPointsArray=new Array(); //code to calculate the combined points for each couple and store it in the combined points array for (i = 0; i <= 4; i++) { combinedPointsArray[i] = judgesPointsArray[i] + audiencePointsArray[i]; //code to find and output the maximum value in the combined points array } var winner = [0]; //set first pair as default winner for (i = 1; i <= 4; i++) { //start with second pair if (combinedPointsArray[i] => combinedPointsArray[winner[0]]) { //compare to first in the winners winners = [i]; //new high score }else if (combinedPointsArray[winner] == combinedPointsArray[i]) { winners[winners.length] = i;//add to highest tie } //danceoff between all numbers in winner array }//for for(i=0;i<winners.length;i++){ document.write(winners[i]+", "); document.write(i); } </SCRIPT> I am having trouble with this program, I cant seem to figure out why this is not working. Basically i need it to loop though the array and find who has the highest points / if more than one have the same points so i dance off is required. Can someone please lend a hand driving me mad. Regards, I've written a program which will prompt for a number of cities, Prompt for the name of the city, then prompt for the number of snowfall readings of that city, and then prompt for each of these individual snowfall readings of that city. From this, it adds up each of the individual snowfall readings of that city, and will calculate an average by dividing this figure [the total snowfall] by the total number of readings for that city. This average is used to then classify the city as "not snowy", "mild", or "blizzard". I'm happy to PM my code to anyone willing to help out, as I realise this is a complex structure to visualise perhaps, but I can't post it publicly. I now have to select the city with the highest average, and name it in an alert output. How is this possible. Note, I'm not allowed to use functions or arrays. Prompts, alerts, if-then-else, for and while loops are all I can use. I have a function below where every time a question is submitted, it will add a new row in the table with a textbox which allows numbers entry only. My question is that I don't know how to code these features in this function: 1: I want the text box to be between 0 and 100, so if text box contains a number which is above 100, it will automatically change the number to the maximum number which is 100. Does any one know how to code this in my function below in javascript: Code: function insertQuestion(form) { var row = document.createElement("tr"); var cell, input; cell = document.createElement("td"); cell.className = "weight"; input = document.createElement("input"); input.name = "weight_" + qnum; input.onkeypress = "return isNumberKey(event)"; cell.appendChild(input); row.appendChild(cell); } When I used toFixed() method on a number, I thought that this method round a number to a specified approximation, but I got a surprising result, the number became string! 15.23689 .toFixed ( 2 ) ==> "15.24" So does it convert the number into string? I am trying to figure out how to make a random number I can plug into a script count down from that number at certain times of the day until it reaches 0. I would like it to reset itself at midnight every day. I'm trying to make it work with a script I found on here that resets itself at midnight every day. So instead of it counting down too fast, it would count down to the next number after a randomly generated number of minutes until it reaches 0. But it wouldn't necessarily have to end at 0 at midnight. It could go from 845 to 323 at the end of the day at a slower pace. Is that possible?
Hello Everyone, I am inexperienced in JavaScript. I have an html page with several numeric input fields which are an array. At the bottom of the screen is a running total of the numbers entered. The html is like: <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='array[0]' onchange='addup()'> <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='array[1]' onchange='addup()'> etc..... <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='array[9]' onchange='addup()'> <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME='arraytotal'> The javascript is: function addup() { var total = 0; for (var i=0; i<=10; i++) { total += Number(document.forms["formname"]["array["+i+"]"].value); } document.forms["formname"]["arraytotal"].value = total; } This works ok, but I don't want the field arraytotal to be an input field.
