JavaScript - Opening Overlay Window When Closing Or Navigating From The Current Window

Hi,

I have an input element (textbox) on a webpage, and capture the onblur event of the input (textbox) control to do validation. My problem is that when the page is closed or the user click on another window the onblur event of my textbox gets called too.

I need the onblur event handler to be called only when the textbox loses focus b/c another element on the SAME webpage gets focus, but not when the user clicks on another window or closes the browser window.

What is the right way to accomplish this?

Hi, I'm having troube closing the main Internet Explorer window using a script called from a right click menu.

The code I'm using is:

When the script calls, windows prompts to close the window, but when 'yes' is clicked the Alert sound sounds and the window remains open!

If the script is called from a button on the page it will close, but I want to close any page on the internet using a right click!

I wish to add a help icon to variousd parts of my pages that places an overlay text box for the help that that help icon relates to.

maybe a call like

help(datefield) or
help(somethingelse)

then the script that shows the help text shows the text that relates to the string passed.

can someone please provide information on how i can do this.

is there a way in HTML or Javascript to open a new window and force it to be a new Window, not a new tab? and also avoid popup blockers??

I am trying to write a javascript to open multiple websites in the same window for Internet Explorer. However I keep getting the website opening in a new window.

I want it to open all the websites in the same window. How do I achieve this?

I feel like a complete idiot posting this, but I clearly am missing something. I'm trying to open a window with the specs below but all it does is open a standard sized window.

say i have this url in my hand as a string, stored in a variable:

i can copy and paste it to my browser manually and see a thumbnail.

but how can i automatically open up a browser window and i see the thumbnail? without manually copying and pasting, i want to automaticallly open a broswer window with this string

I have a dropdown list that I use to navigate pages on an external website. Currently, my dropdown list will open a new page in my current window. I want to be able to open the page in a new window.

I'm sure it's a simple fix, but being somewhat of a noob to Javascript I can't figure out how to solve it.

I have a variable that I obtain from a php code. This variable contains a link such as http://.......

with this variable, say $a, once I obtain it with that php code, I want a browser window to open automatically.

I dont know javascript. can you give complete code to do this?

I want to preserve a 16/9 aspect ratio to the window after any resize, making the width a function of the height.

As I have a window.resizeTo() inside the window.onresize event function, the infinite loop is served. How may I quit it?
