My question is that I don't know how to code these features in this function: 1: I want the text box to be between 0 and 100, so if text box contains a number which is above 100, it will automatically change the number to the maximum number which is 100. Does any one know how to code this in my function below in javascript: Code: function insertQuestion(form) { var row = document.createElement("tr"); var cell, input; cell = document.createElement("td"); cell.className = "weight"; input = document.createElement("input"); input.name = "weight_" + qnum; input.onkeypress = "return isNumberKey(event)"; cell.appendChild(input); row.appendChild(cell); } When I used toFixed() method on a number, I thought that this method round a number to a specified approximation, but I got a surprising result, the number became string! 15.23689 .toFixed ( 2 ) ==> "15.24" So does it convert the number into string? I am trying to figure out how to make a random number I can plug into a script count down from that number at certain times of the day until it reaches 0. I would like it to reset itself at midnight every day. I'm trying to make it work with a script I found on here that resets itself at midnight every day. So instead of it counting down too fast, it would count down to the next number after a randomly generated number of minutes until it reaches 0. But it wouldn't necessarily have to end at 0 at midnight. It could go from 845 to 323 at the end of the day at a slower pace. Is that possible?
Hi! New to JS... have been trying to rework this to call additional, independent sets of colors to cycle through (so it would loop thru a set of grays, a set of primary colors, etc). I would use perhaps a different function name in the HTML to call different sets of colors. If this is more complex than I think it is, I think 3 sets would be plenty. Would be hugely grateful for any help, thanks so much in advance. (demo link of script in current state at bottom) Code: <html><head><title></title> <script language=javascript> colors = ["#cacdca", "#b2b4b2", "#969896", "#7d7f7d", "#ffff00"]; cRGB = []; function toRGB(color){ var rgb = "rgb(" + parseInt(color.substring(1,3), 16) + ", " + parseInt(color.substring(3,5), 16) + ", " + parseInt(color.substring(5,7), 16) + ")"; return rgb; } for(var i=0; i<colors.length; i++){ cRGB[i] = toRGB(colors[i]); } function changeColor(target){ var swapper = navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE")!=-1 ? toRGB(document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor) : document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor; var set = false; var xx; for(var i=0; i<cRGB.length; i++){ if(swapper == cRGB[i]){ if(((i+1)) >= cRGB.length){ xx = 0; }else{ xx = i+1; } document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor = colors[xx]; document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundImage.show; set = true; i=cRGB.length; } } set ? null : document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor = colors[1]; } </SCRIPT> </head> <body bgcolor="#333333"> <div> <div id="a1" onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background1.png); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: none"></div> <div id=a2 onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background2.gif); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: #666633"></div> <div id=a3 onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background3.png); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: #666633"></div></div> </body> </html> Demo: http://theclutch.com/rollover_color_..._bgndimage.htm Hi, I'm faced with a problem trying to set background color under IE7. I have the following Javascript: Code: function showLayer793BKColor(id) { var txtObj = document.all(id); if (txtObj.style.display == 'none') { txtObj.style.display = '' txtObj.style.backgroundColor = 'grey'; } } function hideLayer793BKColor(id) { var txtObj = document.all(id); if ( txtObj.style.backgroundColor == 'grey' ) txtObj.style.display = 'none'; } These functions are used to show or hide div blocks. These blocks are, for example, specified in the following way: Code: <div id="l_gct5tekst" style="display:none"> <b>GCT 5. Eerste verkenning problematiek</b> and, for example, Code: <div id="l_Keuze" style="display:none"> <br/> <b>GCT 5</b> <br/> </div> The whole configuration works smoothly when using IE8. However, when using IE7 I get an error msg like "Invalid value for property". When I use the Color propert iso the BackgroundColor property I get no error anymore but of course I don't have a background color anymore then. In what way can I specify the use of a background color under IE7 ? Or is just not possible in one way or the other. Furthermore, what more differences between JS under IE7 and IE8 do I have to take into account ? Do I also have to rewrite my div block in some way (using some attribs ?) to cope with IE7 ? Thanks in advance, Diederick van Elst I am delving into the coding world and while I understand the basic principle of cookies, conditional statements, arrays, etc... I am still learning how to properly implement them. Any asistance with the following situation would be greatly appreciated and help with my learning as I try to reverse engineer the logic. I have looked around the web and this forum with little success. If the situation below is too complicated, I would really appreciate even a shove in the right direction regarding the logic. ----------------- How could I show a preset counter which counts up from a preset, beginning number toward a preset, end number? I imagine the increment and speed is set be the difference between the two numbers and a timeframe. Assumptions: I would rather not set the increment but edit the end number to show a steady increase. As I update that number, the increment adapts dynamically. I would want the number/script to be useful, so it should not refresh to the beginning number on each page load (i.e. num=0). When a visitor comes to the page, it must seem like the counter has been steadily been increasing in their absence. Coke or Pesi did something similar one time regarding cans sold to date (doubt it was plugged into a DB somewhere but rather based on a steady sales figure) and it was pretty cool. All the best! Hi all, I'm new to here and JS but I have question for you! So I have this form with inputs that are considered arrays in my PHP code: Code: <input type="checkbox" name="1" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="2" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="3" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="4" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="5" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="6" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="7" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="8" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="9" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="10" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="11" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="12" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="13" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="14" /> <input name="ii[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="15" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="16" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="17" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="18" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="19" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="20" /> <input name="i[]" type="text"> <br /> I don't want to keep adding in new spots every time a user want to add a new field. I would like them to be able to press a button that will add another one of those fields and so on. I'm not sure how this can be achieved but that's why I am turning to you! Thanks! Hello I am building a registration page . If the user completes all the required field i load the info into the database but if there are missing fields I combined some javascript into php to display next to the empty field a note that it should be filled. This is my code : Code: <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { $username =$_POST['username']; $password =$_POST['password']; $password2 =$_POST['password2']; $firstname =$_POST['firstname']; $lastname =$_POST['lastname']; $email =$_POST['email']; $address =$_POST['address']; $city =$_POST['city']; $state =$_POST['state']; $zip =$_POST['zip']; $dob =$_POST['dob']; if (empty($username)){ ?> <script language="javascript"> var user =true </script> ;<? } if (empty($password)){ ?> <script language="javascript"> var pass =true </script><? ; } And it goes on................... Then next to the inpput box I display a text in case the user didn't fill in the info like this and by the way the above code is in my validate.php page wich i include in the main registration page Code: <?php include ('includes/validate.php');?> <form action="registration.php" method= "post" > <fieldset> <legend>sitename Registration</legend> <p> <label for"username">Username</label> <input type "text" name=username /> <script type="text/javascript"> if (user == true) { document.write("Please enter a Username of your choice"); } </script> </p> <p> <label for"password">Password</label> <input type "password" name=password /> <script type="text/javascript"> if (pass == true) { document.write("Please choose a Password"); } </script> </p> <p> <label for"password2">Re-type Password</label> <input type "pass2" name=password2 /> <script type="text/javascript"> if (pass2 == true) { document.write("Please re-type your Password"); } </script> </p> And it goes on......for the rest of the input fields. I need some help with a solution for when the user fills in the info and pushes the "register" button the page refreshes and it whipes all the info the user already input but it does display the warnings where the user didn't input any data, so what would be the best way to go to keep the data that the user entered.Thank you. Looking at the naming convention above, the first number is the row, the number at the end is the column so I will want to sum all of the input values with a name ending in 0 in the first 'total' field, all the input values with names ending in 1 in the next and so on. The number of rows and columns is dynamic based on the users selections prior to buiding the table. The reason I am using input fields is that I would also like an event (onChange/onBlur?) that will update the totals fields if a user manually changes the value in one of the inputs. Any advice on this will be appreciated! ok I have a PHP form that I want to make Name Email and Phone required using javascript how would I do this here is my .php and html form.
