I found a script at http://www.fijiwebdesign.com/blog/re...ubmission.html, and it only seems to work if you refresh the page, but not if you close out the browser and restart. Code: <form action="process-contact.php" id="contact" method="post"> Name: <input type="text" name="name"/> <br />Email: <input type="text" name="email"/> <br />Message: <textarea name="message"></textarea> <br /><input type="submit" value="Submit"/> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function() { rememberFormInputs('contact', 'input-'); } /** * Set a cookie * @param string cookie name * @param string cookie value * @param string cookie expiration counter in days * @param string cookie path * @param string cookie domain * @param bool secure? */ function setCookie(name, value, expires, path, domain, secure) { var today = new Date(); today.setTime(today.getTime()); if (expires) { expires = expires * 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24; } var expires_date = new Date(today.getTime() + (expires)); document.cookie = name+"="+escape(value) + ((expires) ? ";expires="+expires_date.toGMTString() : "") + ((path) ? ";path=" + path : "") + ((domain) ? ";domain=" + domain : "") + ((secure) ? ";secure" : ""); } /** * Get a cookie value * @param string cookie name */ function getCookie(name) { var start = document.cookie.indexOf(name + "="); var len = start + name.length + 1; if ((!start) && (name != document.cookie.substring(0, name.length))) { return null; } if (start == -1) return null; var end = document.cookie.indexOf(";", len); if (end == -1) end = document.cookie.length; return unescape(document.cookie.substring(len, end)); } /** * Remebers form inputs after you fill them in * @param string form id to remember fields * @param string a prefix to prepend to all cookie names. (prevent naming conflicts) */ function rememberFormInputs(form_id, prefix) { var form = document.getElementById(form_id); var els = document.getElementsByTagName('input'); for (var i = 0; i < els.length; i++) { var el = els.item(i); if (el.type == 'text') { el.onblur = function() { var name = this.name; var value = this.value; setCookie(prefix + name, value); }; var old_value = getCookie(prefix + el.name); if (old_value && old_value != '') { el.value = old_value; } } } } </script> The demo on the site I got this code from is a broken link. I would really appreciate any and all help to get this resolved. I know cookies are suppose to save even after closing out the browser. Is there a way to capture the event of the user closing the browser??
without outside extensions, how does one debug javascript events on a webpage that primarily relies on unobtrusive JS events? for instance, i have a website i log into that has a "submit" button. the button itself only has this code: Code: <input type="image" class="png" tabindex="5" value="Go" src="login.png"> obviously, the only way that it can submit the form is to use javascript. and it's obviously unobtrusive in this case. consider the fact that it isn't my webpage, and i don't want to try to put random breakpoints everywhere blindly. any help!? Hello all, I am trying to close a window when I press a link using javascript. The code is simple... Code: <a href="" onclick="window.close()">Close this window</a> This works as well, and I know that it will work only on windows opened by javascript. That's ok as well. My question is that in Firefox, I can open a link a new tab. So I open a new tab by clicking on a link like this... Code: <a href="somepage.html" target="_blank">OPEN</a> Now when I try to close this tab using javascript, after closing it refreshes the page. This I know is happening because, I did href="". What's the workaround for this problem.... Hi! I'm working on a website where I need some help with open and closing divs using javascript. This is the website: clashjeans.se/test/styles.html As you can see I'm using a javascript to open each jeans style link, I don't know if this is the best way to do it, but it's how I've done it so far. If you click the "Frankie style link" at the bottom the div called Frankie will show and you will see a little image in that div that says "next wash". What I would like this link to do is to close the frankie div and open up another wich looks almost the same as the previous, the only thing that will change is the pictures actually. Please help me solve this problem, any suggestion about how to make this work will be highly appreciated! Greetings, I am currently using the websites tutorial about browser detection using the navigator. http://www.javascriptkit.com/javatutors/navigator.shtml I am however finding myself unable to detect a pattern in order to learn from. My aim is to use Browser detection to have a CSS file for each browser type, such as Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari and then an overall CSS file if none of the above, to fix numerous flaws. For IE and Firefox using the site's code is all well and good and while I haven't tested it yet I'm wondering how to set up the coding so that it can detect a safari browser. There are lots of slashes and d's and brackets and I do find myself unable to understand their purpose. So if someone can explain how I could do it for Safari I would be very appreciative. Hello, I have a question what is the best way to identify a browser, browser version and OS in javascript. I have try a few scripts but they all fail. This will help me out formating the code for diferent browsers. Thanks Hello! I am trying to find a script that allows you to open multiple browser tabs and then close each of those tabs, either one by one or all at once. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thanks so much for your help. I've been playing around on my off time from other work to learn javascript better so I made this little php javascript game that randomly puts 10 boxes in different locations in a 10x10 table. The object is to close the boxes by clicking them and get timed on how long it takes to close all 10 boxes. The problem is you can click the same box real fast and only have to click a couple boxes for the timer to stop. So what I'd like to know what is the best way to only accept one click for each box generated. Here is what I'm using so far for the click validation: Code: <script language="javascript"> var tovalidate = 10; function validate() { tovalidate -= 1; if(tovalidate === 9) starttimer(); if(tovalidate === 0) stoptimer(); } </script> And using Jquery to fade the boxes pretty after click and trigger the validator: Code: <script> $("#<?=$c;?>").click(function () { /*where $c is id generated for each specific box */ $("#<?=$c;?>").fadeOut("slow"); validate(); }); </script> All, Say I have a four part process to add something to my website. I'd like to have a bar at the top of my page (if you need an example, something simliar to FedEx to show where you package is along the way) that will get updated upon each page move so the user knows how far along they are in the process and how much farther they have to go? Any type of tutorials or ideas (whether it's PHP and jQuery or any other combination) I'd greatly appreciate them. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Thanks. Hi, I am trying to create a small art project where I want to track real-time visitors on my site. I am not very good at coding at all and am really struggling to know how to go about this To give you an idea of what I want to achieve; a basic example would be for every live visitor on my site, a circle would appear on the index page. I am aiming for the end product to be a very basic visualisation of live visitors on the site. So just a group of circles representing how many people are on the site. I am really struggling to get to grips with the coding needed and would hugely appreciate your help. Thank you very much for your time, Is there anything wrong with the code below? - it doesnt seem to track the links, (which it suppose to do inside img.php) Code: // IMAGERY SYSTEM function Imagery(img) { ajax = ajaxFunction(); var url = base_url+"application/imagery/img.php?img="+img; ajax.open("GET",url,true); ajax.send(null); } Link Code: <a href="http://google.com" onClick="Imagery('545');"> I have code that I've been using for awhile now that will automatically log users off my site after a period of time. It works great using a 32 bit browser but not at all with a 64 bit browser. For the life of me I can't figure this out. <script type='text/javascript'> var secondsRemaining = 30; var mhcTimer; function countDown() { secondsRemaining -= 1; if (secondsRemaining <= 0) { secondsRemaining = 0; window.location='login.aspx'; } } function startAutoLogoff() { if (mhcTimer) { return false; } else { mhcTimer = setInterval('countDown();', 1000); } } startAutoLogoff(); </script> I was wondering if there was any way to determine what browser the remote address is using through JavaScript preferably or any other language and if so how to direct them to another page if they're using a specific browser...

I tried opening the demos provided with the code in all browsers to make sure it was compatible and it showed fine in them all. I copied the javascript onto my site and I'm able to show the gallery. However in Chrome and Internet Explorer it shows fine, but Firefox the images are spread vertically down my site and the javascript gallery box doesn't show. I don't understand why this is an issue because it shows fine opening the demo pages and the javascript code and css is a straight copy from the folder :S Can anyone help me out? Website I'm having the issue on is www.deewon.com -Thanks I am trying to use JavaScript to manipulate the appearance of a web browser. (1) Initially I need to identify and save the current browser settings (e.g. position, height, width, caption on or off, menubar on or off, border on or off). (2) Then I need to change the appearance of the browser to full screen, no border, no caption, no status bar, no menubar). (3) Finally, I need to return the browser to the initial settings using the settings saved at the beginning. I am a novice at JavaScript and am having a difficult time locating details of the language that permit me to accomplish my objectives. John Chapman jchapman@onlinecbt.com Hi to everyone! Script first: Code: var allowscroll = 0 //Mouse scroll ____________________________________________________________________________________ function handle(delta) { if(allowscroll == 1){ if (delta < 0){ simgs1dest_x -= 30 } else{ simgs1dest_x += 30 } } if(allowscroll == 2){ if (delta < 0){ textdest_y -= 30 } else{ textdest_y += 30 } } } function wheel(event){ var delta = 0; if (!event) event = window.event; if (event.wheelDelta) { delta = event.wheelDelta/120; } else if (event.detail) { delta = -event.detail/3; } if (delta) handle(delta); if (event.preventDefault) event.preventDefault(); event.returnValue = false; } if (window.addEventListener){ window.addEventListener('DOMMouseScroll', wheel, false); window.onmousewheel = document.onmousewheel = wheel; } I'm using this script to scroll two divs, which each activates self scrolling onMouseOver and onMouseOut deactivate scrolling by setting allowscroll varible to 0. And everything works fine, but this script doesn't allow to scroll browser entire page! So is there a script wich will scroll browser page when allowscroll is equal to 0? ok, so i am working on a type of Option Box that is heavily formatted with CSS and animated using JS $fx() The $fx framework works fine on all browsers, and i have only used fairly simple code, and yet my page functions perfectly on Chrome and Safari. but will not work in Firefox or IE (Firefox does nothing, and IE has a couple of css issues and doesnt work either...) http://calumk.com/else/blogpoststuff...ng_Option_Box/ if anyone could help me i would really appreciate it. (obviously view in Chrome or safari to see how it is meant to respond) |
