The whole idea is that if a certain div object comes to focus, something else disappears (using JQuery). For some reason the code in the comments is working fine, but the for loop breaks everything down. Why? Beginner JavaScripter here. I'm wanting to run a piece of code (add rows) a specified amount of times based upon the number selected. Also, rows can be added after initial number has been specified. Example: User1 selects 2 -> 2 rows are added User1 goes back and selects 3 -> 1 row is added, making 3 rows total I've tried the following, but it seems to not take into account the number of rows already added. but the action i want is: on hovering over the image (location: "lrgPic" in above code) images should keep on changing grabbing the location from array ("my_array" above) and the image change should happen after every sec. i have tried "setTimeout" function; but it's not working as desired. with the code which is commented above.. i want to reset the loop so that images are continuously changed till "onmouseOut" is performed... any clues guys.. how can i improve on this code? with this code.. my script goes in infinite loop.. please help thanks in advance Ok, I'm nearly pulling my hair out with this one. I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together. What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array. What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) 'Menu 2' and 'Menu 3' don't show up! I'm sure it's something small that I'm overlooking, but any help would be appreciated. Hi all I'm well aware that I can't post assignments here and expect an answer, however, I have been staring at this code for so long. I feel I am close to the solution (to get the correct output to the browser) but I just cannot get it to count how many moves it takes. I'm trying to get my Client Side Firefox DHTML app to display a list of eBooks. For this, i have the following files F:\Textbooks.html F:\eBooks.txt F:\FirstBook.txt F:\SecondBook.txt F:\ThirdBook.txt textbooks.html is my DHTML app eBooks.txt is the Library file with a listing of all of my eBooks. From time to time, I need to send password information or login details and password information to some users. At the moment, am doing it via email with a subject named FYI and the body of the email basically just contain the login and the password or in some case, just the password. What am wanting to know is whether I can put these information into a HTML file which contains an obfuscated Javascript with a button that a user will click that will prompt for his login information and then will display the password. In its simplest form, I guess I am looking for a Javascript that will obfuscate a HTML file that contains the password. Anyway, hopefully someone understand what am looking for. I found some website that offers such service as obfuscating a HTML file but am hoping it can be done via a Javascript so it is at least "portable" and I do not have to be online. I was wondering if anybody could answer my question. Here is the example: for (loopCounter = 1; loopCounter<= 3; loopCounter++) { //execute this code } Now, what I need help with is the variable part. The book goes on to say: ""To keep track of how many times you have looped through the code, you need a variable to keep count" My question is: Why does the variable have the value of one and not another number? I'm very very new to JS, I understand that the loopCounter has to be les than or equal to 3 for the code to execute, and also that it is incremented by one each loop, but the book is not clear on why the value of the variable has been set to 1. If anybody could answer this question I would be very grateful, I hate moving onto the next stage of a book if I do not completely understand the previous topics. Ofcourse it only does it once so I need to loop it.
