JavaScript - Problem Getting Jquery/javascript To Work With Php Pagination
I'm having a slight problem with php pagination and jquery/js. On the following page http://dev2.bluemuledesign.com/athletes.php you'll see an "athlete profile" area. Whenever an athlete photo is selected, javascript/php are used to switch out the athlete info. This works perfectly fine. The problem occurs if I use the left or right arrows to view more athletes (the left and right arrows are set with php pagination to switch to the next four records in the database). Whenever I do this, the athlete info defaults back to the first person from the initial load. Also, the javascript/jquery quits working and won't let me view the info for one of the newly displayed athletes. So I have two questions:
1) Can anyone tell me why it defaults back to the original athlete info? I'm assuming it has something to do with me not setting a cookie to remember the currently selected athlete. 2) Why does the javascript quit working when I view the next set of athletes? Also, the jquery slideshow that I am implementing is an alteration of this: http://designm.ag/tutorials/image-rotator-css-jquery/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. Similar TutorialsSo, i have this code which retrieves php files for me using jquery and id love to get it working with Jquery history plugin. I tried modifying the code i got from the ajax demo to work for me, but i just couldnt do it as i do not know any javascript really.. ( actually what i tried was simply to change "#ajax-links a" to "#menu li a" and .html to .php ..but nothing.. Id be very gratefull if someone would help me out with this one. All related code can be found bellow (the ones that should be needed anyways): This is the code that retrieves php files inside "#content" when item from "#menu li a" with the specified id is clicked Code: $(document).ready(function(){ //References var change = $("#menu li a"); var loading = $("#loading"); var content = $("#content"); //Manage click events change.click(function(){ //show the loading bar showLoading(); //load selected section if(this.id == "home") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/index.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else if(this.id == "secondpage") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/secondpage.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else { //hide loading bar if there is no selected section hideLoading(); } }); //show loading bar function showLoading(){ loading .css({visibility:"visible"}) .css({opacity:"1"}) .css({display:"block"}) ; } //hide loading bar function hideLoading(){ loading.fadeTo(1000, 0); }; }); Heres the structure of the menu/content Code: <ul id="menu"> <li><a id="home" class="normal" href="#Home"></a></li> <li><a id="secondpage" class="normal" href="#Secondpage"></a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> <ul id="sec-menu"> <li><a id="link1" class="normal" href="#">Link1</a></li> <li><a id="link2" class="normal" href="#">Link2</a></li> </ul> </div> Heres the code that jquery history plugin uses in demo for ajax Code: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#content').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#ajax-links a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); Hi. does anyone know how websites like www.fmylife.com or mylifeisaverage.com do their pagination? Do they just store all the posts in a database and then call them out? I'm asking this because I am wondering how I should paginate. Thanks
I am being told that a snippet of JQuery code in a website that I have inherited is having problems with a $() JQuery Library Implementation. It seems to keep throwing a "tagName" error. An offered solution was to recode the JQuery into traditional JavaScript using getElementById(). I'm new to JavaScript and clueless to JQuery. I'm not exactly sure how to start. How would something like this be changeable to Javascript? Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".signin").click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $("fieldset#signin_menu").toggle(); $(".signin").toggleClass("menu-open"); document.forms["loginForm"].elements.loginUser.focus(); }); $("fieldset#signin_menu").mouseup(function() { return false }); $(document).mouseup(function(e) { if($(e.target).parent("a.signin").length==0) { $(".signin").removeClass("menu-open"); $("fieldset#signin_menu").hide(); } }); }); </script> Hey, I'm working on a script that uses a function (called on click) to change the content of a div (called description) within the page. It contains an unordered list and list items. The first one has the class "show" and the ID "1", the second with just the ID "2", and so forth. (see code below). I am using jQuery to control the onclick function. the jQuery gets the current object with the "show" class. If there is no show class, it takes the first. It then puts a variable string together that represents the UL LI that is needed to be shown. Code: var descurrent = ($('div#description ul li.show')? $('div#description ul li.show') : $('div#description ul li:first')); var desclass = '#description li#'+x; Note: x is a variable transfered from the function change(x); where x is the ID that is to be shown HTML CODE: Code: <div id="description"> <ul> <li class="show" id="1">blahblah </li> <li id="2"> etc </li> </ul> The jQuery i'm trying to get to work is: Code: //Hide the current image descurrent.animate({opacity: 0.0}, 1000) .removeClass('show'); //Show new image $(desclass).addClass('show') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000); Note: the class "show" has a higer z-index Thanks in advance, Hope this can be resolved soon, been giving me headaches! Cheers, John hi I am trying to play a video from youtube. What I have done so far is getting videos from my database and displaying all those videos thumbnails. So now what i want is to when i click any thumbnail it should play that video in my website. How can I do this? Here is my code Code: function showResult(result) { $('#videosLoader').css('display','none'); var videoId = result.split(" "); for(i = 0; i < videoId.length - 1; i++) { var vidId = $.trim(videoId[i]); vidLink = getScreen(vidId,"small"); $('#videosList').append("<div class='playVid'>" + "<img width=80 height=80 src=" + vidLink + " alt='' /> " + "<input type='hidden' name='vidId' value='" + vidId + "' />" + "</div>").addClass("playVid"); } $('.playVid').click(function() { var val = $("input[name='vidId']").val(); alert("val"); $("#haveYourDefinition").append("<embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/" + val + "&rel=1' pluginspage='http://adobe.com/go/getflashplayer' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' quality='high' width='450' height='376' bgcolor='#ffffff' loop='false'></embed>"); }); When I click any thumbnail it does nothing. Why and please tell me how to do this? Help First of all I really appreciate you reading this. Im going to try to be detailed so I can get help... I have wasted over 8 hours on this already and I'm going to (scuse my french) f'ing lose my mind. I'm about ready to pay someone... if youre intersted PM me. So, I have a wordpress blog that came with several javascript includes already in the header related to the features of the blog. These features include a gallery which has little popups over the images on mouseover. the includes were 'jquery.min.js', and 'script.js' (in that order) followed by a few other includes for other features. That works fine, but then I wanted to replace the menu with a different menu which uses lavalamp jquery (he http://www.gmarwaha.com/blog/2007/08...jquery-lovers/ ) For the new menu, it requires jquery.min.js and 'custom.js'. I took out jquery.min because it was redundant and put custom underneath 'script.js' in the header. I got the menu working, except then I noticed the gallery rollovers stopped working. I moved around the order of the different includes in the header, then neither worked. after I fiddled with it more, the menu stopped working but the gallery would work. After Screwing with this for an awful long time, and a process of elimination, i found that wp_head was causing problems (where it hooks in the headers for all my wordpress plugins). I then realized 'cforms' was using jquery, as well as contact form 7, and I figured they must be conflicting somehow. So I temporarily commented out wp_head so I could focus on the other elements first, and getting them working. At this point (5 hours or so) I decided it must be something in script.js as well as custom.js which are conflicting. I have NO idea of anything about javascript so I started by going through script.js (for the gallery) and through a process of elimination i deleted all the functions that would stop it from working. my thought process was i could then do the same to custom.js (for the menu) and then hopefully with both of them trimmed everything would not conflict. So.. i opened the js file, literally removed ONE function (completely unrelated) to the gallery.. it was something about validating a contact form, and was only like 5 lines of code, and suddenly the gallery doesnt work ... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I am now at a complete loss of what to do.. i really need this working and I must not be doing something right. I dont understand how one function COMPLETELY unrelated to another will ruin everything. Please PM me if interested, i'm willing to pay someone to fix this here are the files in case you need them heres my header first. I have tried every possible combination of wher to put the different files by the way, no dice Code: <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" /> <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?> RSS" href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>" /> <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/prettyPhoto.css" type="text/css" media="screen" charset="utf-8" /> <link href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/menu.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/style1.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <!-- commented out while I try to figure this out <script type='text/javascript' src='<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/custom.js'></script> --> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/script.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/superfish.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/fader.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/jquery.prettyPhoto.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/cufon-yui.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/script/Andika_Basic_400.font.js"></script> Hey guys my 2nd thread on this forum requesting help ok so last month i edited this cool banner rotator and got it doing exactly what i wanted. but i need some help adding a bit more functionality to it and maybe improoving the code. would any1 be kind enough to help me out? can link codes etc just ask. Thanking you :P Hello, I'm trying to combine two different jQuery scripts on my webpage. The one is showing flashvideos in a lightbox and the other one is displaying thumbnails in a slideshow. The problem is that only one script is working. I have searched the web and forums and found that several people have had this problem before and I have truly tried to fix it with noConflict(). The problem is that I have very little experience in Javascript so I haven't got it working. So, here are the lines in the code: <!-- Video lightbox --> <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/videolightbox/mootools.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/videolightbox/swfobject.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/videolightbox/videobox.js"></script> <!-- Thumbnail slider --> <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/jquery-1.2.6.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/js/carousel.js"></script> I haven't coded any of these myself (of course), so I am not familiar with the variables in the files. So my target is to find a way to to use these scripts simultaneously. I am very thankful for your help but I am also kindly asking for a simple and easy to understand instruction. The webpage can be found he http://wearethemusicmakers.se/index2.php Best Regards Johannes Validation is here - http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo/ - JGrowl is here - http://stanlemon.net/projects/jgrowl.html - How can I get those 2 to work so that a Jgrowl window is activated when a validation from a form is called? I have 2 bucks to give for an answer in my Paypal account - I'm a newb, bare with me Thanks, Jon if you visit my site: http://site-tonight.com/works you will notice if you click the image, the Colorbox comes up with a new image, BUT if you click the word Details below the image, the colorbox effect does not take place, even though it using the same link as the image. is there a way to make that text link be clicked and have an image pop up in the colorbox style? thanks much, kyle This is puzzling me. The images I have now display when I select a certain category dynamically but I don't know how to implement javascript pagination into this code. I also don't know how to call it in my display page so that the images appear in a box and has separation in between them cause right now the images all display but connected to one another. I am new to javascript and the coding world so I really hope someone can help me out cause I've been trying to figure out how for the past 2 weeks now. Right now I have the code: Code: <div id="ImageContainer"></div> <br /> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- function ShowGallery() { // get parent for image container and remove image container var parentcontainer = document.getElementById("ImageContainer").parentNode; parentcontainer.removeChild(document.getElementById("ImageContainer")); // get current image gallery information from dropdown var dropdown = document.getElementById("catDropDown"); var selectedoption = dropdown.getElementsByTagName("option")[dropdown.selectedIndex]; var count = parseInt(selectedoption.getAttribute("Count")); // if there are not images in the category, return - "select a category" falls into this case as well if(count<=0) return; // populate images in image elements var container = document.createElement("div"); container.setAttribute("id","ImageContainer"); for(var i=0;i<count;i++) { var img=document.createElement("img"); img.setAttribute("src","images/th/thumb_"+dropdown.value+(i<9?"0":"")+(i+1)+".jpg"); img.setAttribute("alt","images/th/thumb_"+dropdown.value+(i<9?"0":"")+(i+1)+".jpg"); container.appendChild(img); } // Insert new image container back with new contents parentcontainer.appendChild(container); } Hello, i would like to advise me on sthg. I have built a website using a)MySQL b)HTML c)PHP and d)Javascript. My website consists of basic html pages/templates which have links to the left and point to another templates/pages. For example, i have 4 templates in my site 1st template is for: News 2nd : Library 3nd : Articles 4th : E-shop Each template consists of 1. a small menu with links, every link points to another page 2.space for the content/text of the html page 3. a form for searching in the website using php and a mysql database. Well, i'm thinking of adding some animation in my website using the jquery library.Let's say we have an accordion which has 4 choices and when the user clicks on the first choice the 1st template(NEWS) appears inside the slide of accordion, loads in the same slide, not in a new page!!!This is what i would like to do, place in each slide of the accordion one of my templates. CAn this be done??? Which are the disadvantages of adding in each slide of the accordion a different template for my site and remain in the same slide when the user clicks in one of the links of the template??? Consider that i'm using dynamic content and not static, i have a MySQL database behind. Also,as i have seen in most examples the options of accordion usually contain an image, a content, a text or links which open in a new window or tab not inside the slide!!!These links do not load in the same slide!!i would like to have a template which loads in the slide each time the user clicks on a link of it. CAn this be done?? I would be glad if sm could advise me! Thanks, in advance!!! Hi, I have a form that I am submitting using JQuery, if I copy and paste the form into my main page, everything works fine. If I try to call the form in a separate page to onload none of the buttons work. Is there away around this? Not sure if providing my script helps or not, but just in case here it: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <title>Messages</title> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function (){ $('#submitNewSend, #submitNewSend2, #submitNewSave, #submitNewSave2').click(function(){ var btn = $(this).attr('id'); if(btn == 'submitNewSend'){ file = 'insertMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been sent'; } else if(btn == 'submitNewSend2'){ file = 'insertMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been sent'; } else if (btn == 'submitNewSave'){ file = 'insertSaveMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been saved'; } else if (btn == 'submitNewSave2'){ file = 'insertSaveMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been saved'; } var data = $('#MessageNew').serialize(); $.post (file, data, function(){ alert(Msg); $('#MessageNew').each (function(){ this.reset(); }); }); return false; }); }); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc(File,ID){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.send(); } </script> <head> <body onload="loadXMLDoc('getloadCompose.php','txtHintCompose')"> <br /> <br /> <div id="txtHintCompose"></div> </form> </body> </html> And the getloadCompose.php is: Code: <form action="" method="post" name="MessageNew" id="MessageNew" autocomplete="OFF"> <table id="new" width="60%"> <tr> <th>Compose Message</th> </tr> <tr> <td class="first"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSend2" id="submitNewSend2" value="Send"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSave2" id="submitNewSave2" value="Save"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewCancel" value="Cancel" onclick="loadXMLDocRefresh('getloadInbox.php','txtHintMessage')" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br /> <label class="two"><b>To:</b></label><input type="text" class="input" name="to" id="to" value=""><input type="text" class="input" name="recipient" id="recipient" value="" onkeyup="showHint(this.value, 'getEmailName.php','txtHintEmailTo')" size="70" /><br /><br /> <div id="txtHintEmailTo"></div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <label class="two"><b>Subject:</b></label><input type="text" class="input" name="subject" id="subject" value="enter subject" onclick="this.value='';" onfocus="this.select()" onblur="this.value=!this.value?'enter subject':this.value;" size="70" /><br /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <label class="two"><b>Message: </b></label><div class="scroll"><textarea rows="10" cols="75" class="input" name="messsage" id="message">Enter Message</textarea></div><br /><br /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="first"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSend" id="submitNewSend" value="Send"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSave" id="submitNewSave" value="Save"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewCancel" value="Cancel" onclick="loadXMLDocRefresh('getloadInbox.php','txtHintMessage')" /> </td> </tr> </table> </form> I know I have buttons doing the same function, there is an ease of use reason for it. I can put everything on my main page if necessary, but it wouldn't really be doing exactly what I want it to do. Hi, I have been playing with Slidersjs and have it sliding through my images just fine, however the previous/next and slide identifiers below the images don't seem to work and I can't see how to make them active. The temp link is he http://mono-zine.com/Mono.LogDM.html and the slide is the second one down. The identifiers should be clickable to take you to a specific slide, whilst they do change they dont click. Any help gratefully received. Go to this link http://www.blobh.com/2011/09/testing-1.html there select some text then a tooltip kind of thing will appear first share at twitter then at facebook you will understand the matter. the script i am using is this Code: <script type='text/javascript'> $('.demo1').selectedTextSharer({ lists:"Twitter,http://twitter.com/home?status=%ts ,favicon|Facebook,http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blobh.com%2F&t=%s,favicon|Wikipedia (en),http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=%s,favicon|Google Maps,http://maps.google.com/?q=%s,favicon", extraClass: 'dark', title: 'Share this text ...', borderColor: '#7F241C', background : '#4F663A', titleColor : '#7F241C', textColor : '#FFFFFF', hoverColor: '#7F241C' }); </script> and the other script is this one http://bloghuts.googlecode.com/files...-sharer.min.js and the html is like this Code: <!-- Just wrap a text with a div and add a class, thats all ! --> <div class="demo1"> Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it</div> <textarea class="demo4"></textarea> <input class="demo4" type="text" /> Does anyone know how to make URL links that use Javascript still work when users have Javascript disabled on their browser? The only reason I'm using JS on a URL is because my link opens a PDF file, and I'm forcing it not to cache so users have the latest version. I tried the <script><noscript> tags, but I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly, as my URL completely disappears. Below is my HTML/Javascript code: <p class="download"> <script type="text/javascript">document.write("<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\" onclick=\"window.open( 'http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf?nocache='+ Math.floor( Math.random()*11 ) );\" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB) ");</script> <noscript><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB)</noscript> </p> Thanks for any help, Michael |
