JavaScript - How To Pass An Array From Perl To Javascript Function?

I am new to javascript, i just wanted to know how can i send a array from perl to javascript function.... if anybody having any idea about this please reply me..thanks in adbvance Similar Tutorialshi guys! i have a problem in passing the variable to function ,the variable which is used in<td> as table data. Here's something that I tested without the PHP and it worked ok. Now that I've introduced the PHP to the document it doesn't work. The PHP variable is not passing to Javascript properly. By use of some cleverly placed alert boxes, I figured out that the only thing that is getting passed forward is something called : "object HTML ImageElement" Specifically, I assign the element ID the unique ID number of the record in the SQL database. The problem isn't with the ID numbers themselves: They are alphanumeric and unique. I think it boils down to one of two lines of code. The PHP works (I can get the images to appear, so the connection to SQL and such isn't a problem). I am sure most of the JavaScript is good, too, as I said I had it all working prior to dropping in the PHP. Since I am not going from JavaScript to PHP I don't think I need AJAX. I have a php script which dynamically creates a table containing text boxes with variable names. Example: Code: echo '<td align="center" bgcolor="'.$bgcolor.'"><input type="text" name="payable_'.$key.'" id="payable_'.$key.'" value="'.$payable.'" size="3" maxlength="4" /></td> '; In the above instance the text box name might be 'payable_23323'. I need to code an onKeyUp event which sends the text box name to a function, and in that function I need to retrieve the text box name and the string after 'payable_' together with the value the user has input into the text box. Any help is greatly appreciated . . . I have been Googling this for hours to no avail - probably because I don't know what to search for . . . I run a website that features a chat room written in Perl for CGI. The chat room will automatically email a user their password if it's forgotten but there is one issue.....it does not have the "Forgot Password?" link. To achieve the Lost Password page, the user must enter an invalid password FIRST on the login screen, otherwise they cannot get to that option and are often requesting assistance. What I had in mind was an easier way for the user to get their password since new novice members are not sure how to get to the lost password page. I'm not trying to edit the Perl code for the chat, but I wanted to build a "Forgot Password?" page using a Javascript code that will automatically take their username from the "username" login field and direct them to the lost password page which would be "chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=..." I'm sorry if this is confusing, I'm not sure that I am explaining this right. When the user enters an invalid password, it takes them to the lost password page which contains a link "lost password" and will automatically email them their login details when clicked on. When they click that link, the URL contains the string "chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=username" What I would like to do is put a link on the login page (like most normal chat rooms have) that says "Forgot Password?". When clicked on, I want it to take them to a page where all they have to do is enter their username in a form and click Submit, then have a Javascript code automatically extract their username from that field and insert their username automatically to the end of that URL (chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=...) where ... would be the name extracted from that form field. hello, only just starting using javascript, so question may not make sense but il try anyway. if i group some javascript into a function that returns false; how could i carry that 'false' out of the function so it can be used outside the function. the example below shows the validate function checks for a condition then returns false if it is met. i want this false to then be passed out of the function to then throw an error in its containing function.
