JavaScript - How To Make Page Title, Auto Refresh Every X Seconds (using Javascript/jquery/others)
I have a php file lets say file1.php, that printing a variable, its dynamic numbers output that already always increasing, like private message numbers that coming or others :
PHP Code: <?php echo $variable ?> i want to put that variable output, in another files page title, lets say file2.php or file3.html, in the front of the another files page titles, and auto refresh every x seconds, maybe like this : Quote: (1) - another text in the page title after x seconds, get a private message Quote: (2) - another text in the page title after another x seconds, get another private message Quote: (3) - another text in the page title or its ok if just like this, only the variable, without the another text in the page title Quote: (1) please share your knowledge to make it, maybe using javascript, jquery or others Similar TutorialsI currently have this on my companies website and it's having a bit of trouble sometimes where it will only work after a refresh. Is it possible to do a refresh of this div and script as soon as the site loads, instead of using the auto refresh. I tried using auto refresh and it works but whatever time interval I put for the auto refresh is the time that the script pops up, so it kind of just makes it worst. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#twitter").getTwitter({ userName: "lubellrosen", numTweets: 4, loaderText: "Loading Events...", slideIn: true, slideDuration: 750, showHeading: false, headingText: "Latest Tweets", showProfileLink: false, showTimestamp: false }); }); </script> This page: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/kayseyc...document2.html seems to indicate that it's possible, but it looks like it also pops up an alert window which would be annoying as hell. Is there a way to, say, once every minute change the title bar text? You see I have a text file of rotating slogans that appear each time you reload a page on my site and someone suggested that having them change even when the page is already open might be fun. I thought I'd look into it and see if it's possible. The site is http://opalcat.com. I don't know enough about javascript to know if this is possible. I am fairly good at implementing and installing other people's code, though, and can usually make minor changes to tweak things. Please let me know if this is a doable thing, and if so, if you'd be willing to help me work it out. Thanks in advance, OpalCat <HEAD><TITLE>main</TITLE> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://localhost/php_basic/short_pro/php/main.php"> <!--<script language="JavaScript"> var i=0; function validat() { setTimeout("moretext()",5000); alert("santosh"); } function moretext() { if(i==0) { alert(window.location); window.location.reload(); i++; } else { } } </script>--> </head> <BODY onload="validat();"> i hav written dis code to auto refresh page only once but it is refreshing after every 5 seconds. Earlier i hav wriiten meta tag but it is refreshing page after every 5 seconds & after that i hav wriiten script to auto reffresh page only once but they both r doin the same work,so can u plz help me in solvin my problem Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. I've a web page when a user logs in, it will have a link that shows the "username" and a link for "logout". After the user logs out, the "username" and the "logout" links will change to "login" and "register" links, respectively. The page uses javascript to check a user cookie, if the user cookie exists, it will show the "username" link and the link for "logout". If no user cookie exists, "login" and "register" links will replace the "username" and "logout" links. Here's the problem: When a user who has log in, clicks the "logout" link, a perl script will delete the user cookie, and redirects back to the same page. The page does not show "login" and "register" links AUTOMATICALLY. Both links will appear ONLY after the user MANUALLY Refreshes the page. It appears that I need a system to refresh the page automacally ONLY one time. How can this be done? I'm attaching my php test file but this is a JS problem. When I scroll down in the web page and the meta refresh hits, in Windows Safari and IE6/7/8 browsers, the web page re-positions back to the top. In Opera and FF the page refreshes but it stays where it is. Can someone look at my test script and see why it is not working in IE and Win Safari? My goal is to have the web page not re-position to the top on the auto refresh. Thanks... Most of the Javascript I see has some sort of time limit on page reload and is not really what I am trying to accomplish: Code: <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="10; URL=http://coffeeandtealtd.com/buynow.html" /> I am trying to make our buy page reload after clicking the Paypal "continue shopping" button in Paypal Website Standards. The pop up Paypal shopping cart window closes after clicking the button but our buy page doesn't reload. It doesn't reload in Safari although it seems to be fine in FF and IE. I am new to javascript coding and am not quite sure how to make the page reload in this specific instance only. Any sug's?? Hi. I am new here. I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code. What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes. I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this). I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page. Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file. Please help me Thanks Hi Guys, I want to output my pagetitle in javascript. An idea of syntax? <title> products</title> eg My page title is javascript code outputs... My page title is products no joy with Code: <body> <script TYPE="text/javascript"> document.write(document.title); </script> </body> Thanks FF, Safari, Opera all execute this javascript code to refresh the page properly, but in IE version 8.0.6001.18904 the page doesn't seem to refresh on click of orange_refresh button. I have checked out a different version of IE8, don't recall exact version, but it did seem to work fine in that one, whatever version it was probably the latest now that I think of it. Check out code below any sug.'s could be helpful, though its probably a bug.. Code: <a href="javascript:document.location.reload();" onmouseover="window.status='Refresh'; return true" onmouseout="window.status='Page Refreshed'"><img src="image/orange_refresh.png" width="30" height="30" border="0" /></a> when I upload a new javascript file to the server and refresh the webpage, the webpage behaves as if the old script is on the server, this happens with IE and firefox, even if I shut the programs down and restart them, can anyone help? I am sorry if this is a stupid question. I have never really used javascript before. I found some code online that I tried to piece together so I might not even be going about this the right way. I want the background to take up 100% and resize with the browser. That works fine. I also want the text "welcome to the ahi life" stick to the bottom left hand corner and the enter button to stick to the bottom right. I would like these to resize with the browser as well. It all kind of works, except the first time you load the page the text and the button are much smaller than I would like them to be. If you refresh the page everything is correct. The url is http://www.ahiapparel.com/landing.html Code: <style> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #bg { position: fixed; top: 0; left: 0; } .bgwidth { width: 100%; } .bgheight { height: 100%; } #page-wrap { position:absolute; bottom:0; left:20px; width: 700px; margin: 50px auto;} #welcometext { position: fixed; bottom: 20px; left: 25px; } .welcometextwidth { width: 7%; } .welcometextheight { height: 7%; } #entertext { position: fixed; bottom: 20px; right: 25px; } .entertextwidth { width: 7%; } .entertextheight { height: 7%; } </style> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(function funct1() { var theWindow = $(window), $bg = $("#bg"), aspectRatio = $bg.width() / $bg.height(); function resizeBg() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $bg .removeClass() .addClass('bgheight'); } else { $bg .removeClass() .addClass('bgwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizeBg(); }).trigger("resize"); }); $(function funct2() { var theWindow = $(window), $welcometext = $("#welcometext"), aspectRatio = $welcometext.width() / $welcometext.height(); function resizewelcometext() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $welcometext .removeClass() .addClass('welcometextheight'); } else { $welcometext .removeClass() .addClass('welcometextwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizewelcometext(); }).trigger("resize"); }); $(function funct3() { var theWindow = $(window), $entertext = $("#entertext"), aspectRatio = $entertext.width() / $entertext.height(); function resizeentertext() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $entertext .removeClass() .addClass('entertextheight'); } else { $entertext .removeClass() .addClass('entertextwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizeentertext(); }).trigger("resize"); }); </script> My best guess is that either the functions or some of the variables are conflicting somehow, but I have tried just about everything to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Hello Friends In my jsp,Struts project i am using the javascript calendar control for selecting the date and by using function calcage() i am calculating the age of the user but problem occurs when the page refreshes OR when user updated the other values such as name ,contact no. Then the value of the age is set as 0 in the textfield as 0 So can you please tell me why this problem occurs And please give me solution Thanks i'm working with a city select option, a hotel select option & an iframe. the hotel select option is populated depending on the chosen city which then updates the iframe src. this is all working fine. the trouble im having is that when the page is refreshed, normal f5 way, the hotel option changes whereas the city option & the iframe src remains the same?? this problem does not occur on a force refresh via control + f5 as then both select options & iframe src revert to their original state. I don't want the city option to change upon a normal page refresh. how do I go about this? below are the city, hotel select options & iframe Code: <form name="hotelslist" id="hotelslist"> <select id="cities" name="cities" onChange="hotel_list(hotelslist.cities.selectedIndex);loadHotel();"> <option value="Baddeck">Baddeck</option> <option value="Banff">Banff</option> </select> <select id="hotelnames" name="hotelnames" onChange="loadHotel();"> <option value="Inverary Resort, Baddeck">Inverary Resort, Baddeck</option> </select> </form> <iframe name="hotelframe" id="hotelframe" src="http://www.google.com" scrolling="no" width="660" height="1000" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" frameborder="0"> <p>Your browser does not support iframes.</p> </iframe> below is my javascript functions Code: function loadHotel() { var destURL = document.hotelslist.hotelnames.options[document.hotelslist.hotelnames.selectedIndex].value; window.frames["hotelframe"].location = destURL; } var i; function hotel_list(i){ var hotelslist = document.getElementById("hotelslist"); hotelslist.hotelnames.options.length=0; switch(i) { case 0: //Baddeck hotelslist.hotelnames.options[0] =new Option('Inverary Resort, Baddeck','http://www.test0.com'); break; case 1: //Banff hotelslist.hotelnames.options[0] =new Option('Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa','http://www.test1.com'); hotelslist.hotelnames.options[1] =new Option('Banff Ptarmigan Inn','http://www.test2.com'); hotelslist.hotelnames.options[2] =new Option('Banff Rocky Mountain Resort','http://www.test3.com'); hotelslist.hotelnames.options[3] =new Option('The Rimrock Resort','http://www.test4.com'); hotelslist.hotelnames.options[4] =new Option('Fairmont Banff Springs','http://www.test5.com/'); break; } } can some one please advise on a cross browser solution? thanks in advance. Omar. Hello! I am developing my personal website! And I am trying to implement it with JS completely. which means I need the page to be one front end page. But the back-end pages would be the ones which do the work and calculations! In other words and more explaination: I would like to have one "index.php" page that contains only a nav bar which handles the mission. Once the page load it loads with the content of "home.php" (the landing page) if the "contact" tab is clicked then I would like to load the "ContactMe.php" page content. I have done this already! but the problem is: "home.php" uses alot of javascript functions and jquery plug-ins. when I load it, it looks messy that you think the JS is disabled in your machine :-\ Note: the loading has been done with those methods: .load(), $.ajax! -> same results! The conclusion: * "home.php" * "ContactMe.php" * "About.php" Is it possible to load those pages in the "index.php" and still have their JS functions function correctly and display as if they were accessed individually? The goal that I am trying to achieve is that I make my whole website for the visitor as "One Page Site"! I am challenging myself with it though! Thank you in advance for your informative posts! Please Note that I have only put the <html><head><body> tags in the index.php and removed them from the back-end pages such as home.php, contactme.php and about.php! for that sake that it works correctly! but with no hope! I'm replacing the shoutbox on my site. Everything works and looks great. Now I'd like to make it auto refresh. Here's the update function. PHP Code: function updateShoutbox(){ //send the post to shoutbox.php $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "shoutbox.php", data: "action=update", complete: function(data){ loading.remove(); messageList.html(data.responseText); } }); } And here is what I've tried to add to make it auti refresh, but it doesn't work. PHP Code: setTimeout('updateShoutbox()', 4000); I know very little about js, so any help is appreciated. I have some sample ajax code i have been toying around with. I have it updating & working properly, but you have to click a button first. How can I set it so that it automatically reads the contents of the text file on page load, and updates every 1000ms? I was trying Code: onload=setinterval(JavaScript:xmlhttpPost("status.php"),1000) but had not luck Any suggestions? Code below. PHP Code: <? $myFile = "testFile.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'r'); $theData = fread($fh, 3); fclose($fh); echo $theData; ?> Code: <html> <head> <title>Simple Ajax Example</title> <script language="Javascript"> function xmlhttpPost(strURL) { var xmlHttpReq = false; var self = this; // Mozilla/Safari if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { self.xmlHttpReq = new XMLHttpRequest(); } // IE else if (window.ActiveXObject) { self.xmlHttpReq = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } self.xmlHttpReq.open('POST', strURL, true); self.xmlHttpReq.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'); self.xmlHttpReq.onreadystatechange = function() { if (self.xmlHttpReq.readyState == 4) { updatepage(self.xmlHttpReq.responseText); } } self.xmlHttpReq.send(getquerystring()); } function getquerystring() { var form = document.forms['f1']; var word = form.word.value; qstr = 'w=' + escape(word); // NOTE: no '?' before querystring return qstr; } function updatepage(str){ document.getElementById("result").innerHTML = str; } </script> </head> <body> <form name="f1"> <p>word: <input name="word" type="text"> <input value="Go" type="button" onclick='JavaScript:xmlhttpPost("status.php")'></p> <div id="result"></div> </form> </body> </html> Been trying to get this auto refreshed instead of clicking to refresh <center><iframe src="http://orange.citrus3.com:8338/played.html" width=800 height=400 frameborder=0 scrolling=no id="myiframe"></iframe></center><br> <center><b><BIG><body link="#FF0000"><a href="javascript:myiframe.document.location.reload()">Refresh Current Song</a></BIG></b></center> I have a web page that loads and Auto scrolls to the end.
