JavaScript - Div Content Refresh Not Working In Ie
I would like to mention: I DON'T KNOW MUCH (ANYTHING) ABOUT JAVASCRIPT
I am using this script to reload my minicart every 1 second but it doesn't work in IE. I don't want to use php (because the e-commerce site I am using doesn't allow php). Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function cartRefresh() { $("#minicart").load(location.href+" #minicart>*",""); $("#sliderContent").load(location.href+" #sliderContent>*",""); } setInterval(function() { cartRefresh(); }, 1000); </script> Can anyone help me out with either a new code or make this workable with IE? thnx a bunch! Similar TutorialsHello I am trying to refresh the contents of a table using innerhtml and I am having some issues... <div id="FriendsTable" > <table id="friendslist" width="730" border="0" background="http://staggan.com/my_dir/images/bg_feature.jpg"> <tr> <td width="75"><? echo "Hello1"; ?> </td> <td width="75"><? echo "Hello2"; ?> </td> <td width="75"><? echo "Hello3"; ?> </td> </tr> </table> </div> <a href="#" onclick="refreshtable()">Clickhere</a> <script type="text/javascript"> function refreshtable(){ var oldHTML = document.getElementById('FriendsTable').innerHTML; var newHTML = "<? echo "function call works";?>"; document.getElementById('FriendsTable').innerHTML = newHTML; } </script> I can replace the table on click with the "function call works" text, but how can I replace or refresh the table itself...? Thanks Hello, I'm trying to write some javascript that will detect if the page has been loaded because of the refresh button being pressed. I've searched google on how to do this, and several websites recommend something similar to the code I'm implementing below: Code: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> // in head function checkRefresh() { alert("BEFO value = " + document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value")); if (document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value") == null || document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value") == "") { document.getElementById("visited").setAttribute("value", "refreshed") } alert("AFTER: value = " + document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value")); } </script> ... <body onload="Javascript:checkRefresh();"> ... <form id="hiddenform"> <input type="hidden" id="visited" value="" /> </form> </body> My variation differs from most of the examples on the internet in a few ways (which may or may not affect its functionality): 1) Most examples access the elements by directly using their names (as in: document.hiddenForm.visited.value). I'm using document.getElementById(...).getAttribute(...) just because that seems to be the safest way to ensure you are in fact getting the elements you want, and setAttribute(...) to ensure you're setting the attribute in the proper way. This entails that I need to set the ID in the form and input elements rather than the name. 2) I'm accessing the input tag directly (rather than going through the form) because I really don't see how this would make a difference. 3) I'm doing all this within asp:content tags which, from what I understand, can affect the behavior of the elements within it. I'm not sure if this works out for other programmers, but for me it doesn't seem to be working. My alert messages in the checkRefresh function tell me that the value of the input element does indeed change as expected, but it seems to get wiped out and reinitialized to the original value of "" when the page is refreshed. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help. I'm sorry I don't have a website to go with my question...it's on a dev server. But it's fairly simple I think. I have a php script running server side that I'm looping through (using different numbers at the end of the php page to get new content each iteration), and I want to grab the content of the php page to display, inside a google maps infowindow ideally. The problem is, right now the infowindow displays just the link. I want the content of what the link is (which is just a few words in any case). Here's the general code where I place the page inside a variable and then try to display the contents of the page in html variable (the link I show here won't work but it gives you the idea): Code: var hazard_links = "https://ch.noaa.gov/m/googleapi/rec/extracthazards.php?lat="+lat+"&lon="+lon; var html = '<span style="font-size: 10pt; color: red;"><hr><a href="'+hazard_links+'" target = "_blank">' + hazard_links + '</a>' + '<span style="font-size: 10pt; color: red;">'; Thanks for any help, Hi, I have the below code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadQuickMessageCheck(File,ID){ var xmlhttp; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; eucalyptus = setInterval(function(){loadQuickMessageCheck(File,ID)},20000); } } xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.send(); } </script> But I am overloading the server and crashing it. I've googled the issue and have found people with similar problems who talk about the need to cancel the last refresh request before they send the next refresh. I even found this nice piece of code which worked for someone else. Quote: try{window.clearTimeout(tRefresh)} catch(err) {} tRefresh = setInterval(setContext, varInterval*60*1000); } I am not sure if this is the solution that I am looking for but if it is all my attempts at applying this code has been a bit of a disaster. Hi, I'm new to Javascript, so bear with me. I'm trying to use a script that replaces the contents of a div, based on div id's. I've gotten it to work how I want he http://www.sixnations.be/home1.html But can't get it to work here, and I'm not sure why: http://www.sixnations.be/menu.html Relevent code, Javascript: Code: function changeMenu(obj) { if (obj == 'food') { //alert('food'); var fd = document.getElementById('food'); fd.style.display = 'inline'; var fdi = document.getElementById('foodImages'); fdi.style.display = 'inline'; var dr = document.getElementById('drink'); dr.style.display = 'none'; var dri = document.getElementById('drinkImages'); dri.style.display = 'none'; } else if (obj == 'drink') { //alert('drink'); var fd = document.getElementById('food'); fd.style.display = 'none'; var fdi = document.getElementById('foodImages'); fdi.style.display = 'none'; var dr = document.getElementById('drink'); dr.style.display = 'inline'; var dri = document.getElementById('drinkImages'); dri.style.display = 'inline'; } } HTML (the data's tabular, hence the tables): CSS: Code: /*-- MAIN CONTENT --*/ .maincont { width: 930px; margin: auto; margin-top: 10px; overflow: auto; } .backcont { position: relative; width: 620px; margin-right: 296px; } .backrightcont { float: right; width: 296px; } .backtop, #info_En, #info_Fr, #info_It, #drink, #food, .backrighttop { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/backtop.png); background-repeat: repeat-x; background-position: bottom; border-right: 1px solid #21201C; border-left: 1px solid #21201C; width: 100%; height: 57px; text-align: center; } .backbottom { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/backbottom.png); } #info_En, #info_Fr, #info_It, #food, #drink { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/contentback4.png); background-repeat: repeat; padding-bottom: 30px; text-align: left; height: auto; } .backright, .backrighttop, .backrightbottom { width: 100%; } .backright { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/backright.png); } .backrighttop { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/backtop2.png); background-position: top; border: 0; } .backrightbottom { height: 50px; background-image: url(../sixnations_images/backrightbottom.png); border: 0; } .backrighttop h1, .backright h1 { font-family: 'Cambria', Palatino, Georgia, serif; font-size: 1.6em; color: #eee; line-height: 70px; text-align: center; } .backright h1 { width: 95%; line-height: normal; border-top:1px dashed #333; padding-top: 15px; } #noborder { border:0; } .twitter { margin-left: 15px; } #info_Fr, #info_It, #drink { display: none; } .lang, #info_En p, #info_En h1, #info_Fr p, #info_Fr h1, #info_It p, #info_It h1, #food h1, #food p, #drink h1, #drink p { width: 71%; margin: auto; } #info_En h1, #info_Fr h1, #info_It h1, #food h1, #drink h1 { font-family: 'GothamBook','Cambria', Georgia, serif; font-size: 2.5em; color: #000; padding-bottom: 10px; padding-top: 20px; margin-bottom: 15px; font-variant: small-caps; letter-spacing:.1em; text-align: center; border-bottom: 1px dashed #777; } .lang { margin-top: 35px; padding-top: 5px; border-top: 1px dashed #777; font-size: 1em; font-variant: small-caps; text-align: right; color: #777; } .lang a:hover { background-color: #777; color: #eee; } /*-- MAIN CONTENT -- SPORTS ON TV / FOOD & DRINK --*/ table.sports, table.menu1 { width: 90%; margin: auto; } table.sports thead td, table.menu1 thead td { font-size: 1.3em; font-variant: small-caps; color: #777; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999; width: 100%; padding-top: 20px; } table.sports tr, table.menu1 tr { border-bottom: 1px dotted #999; } table.menu1 tr { border: 0; } table.sports td { padding: 7px; } table.menu1 td { border:0; padding: 8px; } table.sports td.foot, table.sports td.rugby { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/ball1.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: bottom left; padding-left: 35px; } table.sports td.foot { background-image: url(../sixnations_images/ball2.png); } table.menu1 td.desc { color: #888; font-style: italic; padding-top: 0px; font-size: .9em; } Any ideas? Hi all, I am using xmlhttp.open();xmlhttp.send(); to send a php content to a div. This php content is again using the same method to get php content from a further page. The content of the div, does not seem to be using the css and javascript files defined in the calling pages <head> section. Does anyone know why this is? Is there a workaround or solution to this problem? It might be easier to understand looking at the code, so Background info: Javascript file: scripts.js client.php ----> loads data from: display_client.php display_client.php ----> loads data from: display_brand.php Code: client.php http://pastebin.com/4EFn9YRf display_client.php http://pastebin.com/BGZAKre2 display_brand.php http://pastebin.com/0a4Pg3gg scripts.js http://pastebin.com/er4dkmPc Thanks! Hi I need some help. I have a link that opens in a new window which allows the user to perform an update to a record. On submit I want it to obviously update (which it does), then close the page and update the main page (where we opened the link from initially). I seem to have this working using an function which is called off the submit button using onclick........the function is: <script type="text/javascript"> function windowclose() { window.opener.location.href = window.opener.location.href; window.close() } </script> Now, the update happens as I say, and the page closes, and the main page looks like it refreshes but the update is not reflected....if I hit f5 the update appears. Is it to do with the speed of writing to the database and updating the screen? I have also been playing around with trying to add a settimeout to add a delay between update and close/refresh but couldnt get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers! Hi Frnds, I have faced some problem i.e I have 2 jsp pages. In that I want to go one jsp to another jsp.In 2nd jsp i can show my captcha code, but unfortunately it is not visible first page is reloaded in IE6.Once you refresh the page it's visible in IE6.So please help me to avoid this problem. Thanks, This works on one of our other sites, but today I noticed this site is having a problem, its just not refreshing at all... here is the code.. (what is used on the iframe) Code: <iframe id="ad1" whats in the header (besides the including of the js file) Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var imageIntervals={}; var imageLimit={}; var imageCount={}; </script> and the actual script Code: function toggleImage(id) {if(imageCount[id]<imageLimit[id]||imageLimit[id]<0) {var img=document.getElementById(id);img.src=img.src;imageCount[id]++;}else {clearInterval(imageIntervals[id]);}} function setImageInterval(id, ms, limit) {imageIntervals[id]=setInterval("toggleImage('"+id+"')", ms);imageLimit[id]=(limit!==undefined?limit:-1);imageCount[id]=0;} /* IFERAME RATES */ window.onload=function() { setImageInterval("ad1", 72000, 4); setImageInterval("ad2", 60000, 4); setImageInterval("ad3", 66000, 4); setImageInterval("ad4", 72000, 4); setImageInterval("ad5", 72000, 4); setImageInterval("ad6", 76000, 4); } This should work, but its not so trying to see if you can see something I dont. If theres a better iframe refresh script out there that can do different intervals, please share. Thanks Whenever I update my website, sometimes I notice my browser shows the old version or a modification in the browser after I upload to the ftp. Whats the best way to prevent this from happening? Preferably without noticing it happening. Thanks. Okay, I assume many will think I must have missed the previous thread, but I did look at it, and I am not sure if that one comes close to answering my idea here. I was looking at NHL.com, and I noticed the scoreboard changed without me reloading the page. So... I looked at the code, and this is where I got completely lost: Code: <div id="scoreboard"> <style type="text/css"> #masthead #richMedia, #scoreboard { margin-left: 0px; width: 817px; } </style> <script src="/js/hdr_scoreboard.js?v=6" language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"></script> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var dataSource = "http://live.nhle.com/GameData/PlayoffScoreboard.jsonp?loadScoreboard=?"; jQuery(document).ready(function() { initScoreboard(5, 'cc0000', '000000'); }); </script> What I am interested in doing is reloading an iframe that has a total visitor counter. That way say every 5 minutes or so, it gets updated without any interaction needed. I tried the meta refresh on the iframe's target page long ago, but that forced a reload on the main page as well, and I am totally against doing that. So, does anyone here have any tips to provide? Hi there, I'm working on a presentation and I'm going to store each page into a ".html" So in example, I have... "1.html" "2.html" "3.html" Each number goes to each slide accordingly. The way I was working the presentation out was having users load a webpage via mobile phone which contains an iframe. I'll change the src of the iframe to the desired slide; and the META refresh will handle displaying it to the user. Now, here's the problem. It flashes on some browsers, like Blackberries. I'd like for the content being refreshed to not flash, but appear naturally. That way, the user doesn't have to attempt to read flashing text (which gets -REALLY annoying) ------------------------------------ TLDR; I need some code to refresh a page/div without flashing the content on ALL if not MOST browsers. Thanks. ------------------------------------ I think I know how I'd solve this issue; but I'm not too sure how to "integrate it" Perhaps, have a Javascript code keep the current "look" of the page static until "X" seconds. So, this would happen. Page refresh -> Javascript holds page for 5 seconds -> Page finishes loading -> Original page revealed It'd act kind of like a cover-up. I have a page with 2 iframes how can I make it that if they submit on the first iframe - it should refresh the second iframe? I am trying to submit a hidden text area from a WYSIWYG editor. Its submitting the subject line which is a standard text input but its not submitting the text area. I can only think its because there are html tags in the submitted data. Is there a way to compensate for this or will I have to give up trying. I'm making a chess game and I have a couple of problems. one, for some reason I need to refresh the page for it to fully load http://ktownsend.shorelinevct.net/chess/ two, hiding the available moves only works when I click on a different piece. when clicking on the same piece I get an err.message which says that the pieces this.availMoves[i] = null. which doesn't make sense. I get the same err.message when I click on a different piece but it works anyway. when I click on the same piece it doesn't work at all.
