JavaScript - Using Ajax To Load Form From Another Domain
Hello all,
I am building a service that other developers will use. As part of this, they need to embed a form on their website. This form will be hosted on my server, be updated periodically, etc. We'd been trying to create a Javascript file that would use JQuery to load the form, but we're running into issues from the Same Origin Policy, where Ajax requests cannot be made across different domains. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? We thought about using an iframe, but that solution will not suffice. Thanks! Similar TutorialsHi, I have an ajax script that I would like to use to retrieve a password hint from a database. Both the ajax script and the php retrieval script are stored on the same domain (we'll call it domain1.com), but the ajax script runs on another domain (domain2.com). All the scripts are working fine, individually, but when I try to integrate them, I'm getting a ready state of 4, but an HTTP status of 0. I've traced the code flow and the retrieval script is being called by the ajax script OK and it's echoing all the right stuff, but it's just not getting back to calling ajax routine. I've read that an ajax routine can only call a script that resides on the same domain that it runs on. Is this correct and, if so, does anyone know of a work around, because I really need to be able to store the ajax script on domain1 and run it on domain2? If not, then can anyone suggest why I'm getting an HTTP status of 0, when all the individual components are working fine? Debbie Hi All, I'm writing this post as there are alot of questions about Cross Domain AJAX request so i'm going to give an overview of the different ways and the best practices Ok so there are 2 systems for this the key difference is how much control you have. If you control the Requested site you can use Javascript Safe calling to that server, this is all done via a few Headers so to do this all you have to do is send some headers from the page your requesting. The first is tell the browser that the site the AJAX call is coming from is allowed this is done with "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: " Now this can be set to a wild card and allow all sites to access the page "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *" Or you can say only a set server can "Access-Control-Allow-Origin: mydomain.com" This header allows GET requests but what if you need to post data to the site well you need to tell the browser that POST data is allowed to be sent Access-Control-Allow-Headers: GET,POST Now we run into the problem that sending post data the browser will send the header Content-Type but your server has not told the browser its allowed to send that header so Access-Control-Allow-Methods: Content-Type Will allow the header to be sent if you wish to send any other custom headers you have to make your server tell the browser its allowed to send them this is done by adding them as a comma delimited list via the "Access-Control-Allow-Headers" header Now if you dont have control well then your back to using a script that is local to the AJAX script then sending the data via cURL or another connection method to the remote server Please note i will be uploading examples in php later. Example Scripts Remote Server PHP Code: header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *"); header("Access-Control-Allow-Headers: GET,POST"); header("Access-Control-Allow-Methods: Content-Type"); $output = array( 'response' => 'hello world!', '_GET' => $_GET, '_POST' => $_POST, ); echo json_encode($output); Client Script -- please note built for Google Chrome PHP Code: var getExample = new XMLHttpRequest(); getExample.open("GET", "http://www.test.com/remote.php?test=set", true); getExample.onreadystatechange = function(requestHandle){ console.debug(requestHandle); } getExample.send(null); var postExample = new XMLHttpRequest(); postExample.open("POST", "http://www.test.com/remote.php?test=set", true); postExample.onreadystatechange = function(requestHandle){ console.debug(requestHandle); } postExample.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "x-www-urlencoded-data");// this is sent to prevent the requested server not saving post data postExample.send("?set=test"); If you are unable to Edit files on the remote server you can use the link provided by Kor http://www.troywolf.com/articles/ This will give you all the information you require to use php to talk to the remote server (basic proxy in effect) Hi, I have searched and searched... Is there a way of using the Ajax httpRequest cross domain? thanks Hi, I am hoping I just need to be pointed in the right direction with this. I have Page1. When Page1 body onloads it uses Ajax to call PartA Within PartA I have a message board so members can write messages which will be sent to my database in PartA[1] and immediately posted for view on to PartA[2]. As I want to have my request to the server updating regularly I want to have PartA[2] on a timed loop to refresh - I do not need the content of PartA[1] to refresh. So the order of events would look like this: Page1 | onload call | v PartA / \ V V PartA[1] PartA[2] (loads once) (constantly refreshes) What I am not sure about is that I have <body> and <head> attributes in Page1 only. I have already used my body onload to call PartA (and can't use it to call PartA[2] before PartA has loaded anyway). I do not want the user to have to click a button or do anything to call up PartA[2]. So my question is how would I get PartA[2] to automatically load within PartA? I hope I have made this clear, but if I haven't let me know and I will try again. I have been searching online for hours, but it is possible I'm just not thinking of the correct keywords. I have included a basic illustration of the current setup (which does not work). The issue lies with the page that is the desired output. I have a far deeper issue which I have narrowed down to javascript on the final .asp page not loading at all. On default.asp, I am calling a function contained in 'ajax_call-contentselection.js' Code: <a onclick="func_displaycontents('restaurants'); return false">displayajaxcontent</a> Honestly, I don't believe the following piece of code (ajax_call-contentselection.js) is relevant, as it is standard ajax code, but just in case: Code: function func_displaycontents(var_type){ var xmlHttp = GetXmlHttpObject(); var url = "../_include/ajax_display-contentselection.asp"; url += "?type="+var_type; if (!xmlHttp){ alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request") return } xmlHttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if(xmlHttp.readyState == 1){ document.getElementById("div_ajaxfillattractions").innerHTML = "<div style='padding-top:50px;color:white;width:930px;text-align:center;'><img src='../_images/ajax-loader.gif'/><br/>Loading...</div>"; }; if (xmlHttp.readyState==4 || xmlHttp.readyState=="complete"){ document.getElementById("div_ajaxfillattractions").innerHTML=xmlHttp.responseText; } }; xmlHttp.open("GET", url, true); xmlHttp.send(null); } The other contents of "ajax_display-contentselection.asp" are displayed properly in "div_ajaxfillattractions" of "default.asp", but no javascript code on that page loads. If I use "ajax_display-contentselection.asp" as an include file on "default.asp", I get the javascript alert of 'Success', but when I initiate the AJAX it does not work, so I know there isn't a problem with the javascript. Please let me know if I sucked at explaining something, or more detail is needed. Thanks in advance, Matt Hello, could anyone help me with the javascript code? i have the HTML form code below and i want to create a javascript to work with it. Please see the code below: Code: <form method="post" name="login_form"> Name: <input type="text" name="login_username" value="" /><br> Password: <input type="password" name="secretkey" /><br> <input type="hidden" name="js_autodetect_results" value="0" /> <input type="hidden" name="just_logged_in" value="1" /> <INPUT CHECKED NAME="domain" TYPE="radio" VALUE="@camintel.com">@camintel.com<BR> <INPUT NAME="domain" TYPE="radio" VALUE="@camintel.com.kh">@camintel.com.kh<BR> <input type="submit" value="Login" /><br> </form> I have two domain "camintel.com" and "camintel.com.kh" with one email login form. could anyone write me a javascript that have the following option. 1. when user select camintel.com , it will login to http://users.camintel.com/squirrelmail/src/redirect.php 2. when user select camintel.com.kh, it will login to http://www.camintel.com.kh/webmail/src/redirect.php Please help me with this, i tried to code my self. But none is working. And Last Sorry for my bad english. Best Regards, Kenshin I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes. I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return. html form: Code: <form id="f1" name="form1" onsubmit="validate_form(this); return false;" action="register" method="post"> <table cellspacing="5" style="border: 2px solid black;"> <tr> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td>*First name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_one"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="fn" name="fn" onBlur="validate_one();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Last name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_two"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ln" name="ln" onBlur="validate_two();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Email address</td> <td align="right"><span id="result"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="mailfield" name="email" onBlur="startRequest();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Phone number</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_three"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="pn" name="pn" onBlur="validate_three();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*City/Town</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_four"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="c" name="c" onBlur="validate_four();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td> <select name="s"> <option value="AL">Alabama <option value="AK">Alaska <option value="AZ">Arizona <option value="AR">Arkansas <option value="CA">California <option value="CO">Colorado <option value="CT">Connecticut <option value="DE">Delaware <option value="FL">Florida <option value="GA">Georgia <option value="HI">Hawaii <option value="ID">Idaho <option value="IL">Illinois <option value="IN">Indiana <option value="IA">Iowa <option value="KS">Kansas <option value="KY">Kentucky <option value="LA">Louisiana <option value="ME">Maine <option value="MD">Maryland <option value="MA">Massachusetts <option value="MI">Michigan <option value="MN">Minnesota <option value="MS">Mississippi <option value="MO">Missouri <option value="MT">Montana <option value="NE">Nebraska <option value="NV">Nevada <option value="NH">New Hampshire <option value="NJ">New Jersey <option value="NM">New Mexico <option value="NY">New York <option value="MC">North Carolina <option value="ND">North Dakota <option value="OH">Ohio <option value="OK">Oklahoma <option value="OR">Oregon <option value="PA">Pennsylvania <option value="RI">Rhode Island <option value="SC">South Carolina <option value="SD">South Dakota <option value="TN">Tennessee <option value="TX">Texas <option value="UT">Utah <option value="VT">Vermont <option value="VA">Virginia <option value="WA">Washington <option value="WV">West Virginia <option value="WI">Wisconsin <option value="WY">Wyoming </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br> </td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><span id="error"></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top">*Anti-Spam Verification</td> <td></td> <td id="reCaptcha"></td> </tr> </table> </td> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td align="left">*Affiliation</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_five"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="affl" name="affl" onBlur="validate_five();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Research Area:</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_six"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ra" name="ra" onBlur="validate_six();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" align="left">*Research Overview</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_seven"></span></td> <td><textarea cols="38" rows="6" id="ro" name="ro" onKeyDown="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onKeyUp="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onBlur="validate_seven();"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><font size="1">You have <input readonly type="text" name="countdown" size="1" value="500"> characters remaining.</font></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Talk Availability</td> <td></td> <td> <input type="radio" name="ta" value="In person">In person <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Online">Online <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Both" checked>Both </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top">Links</td> <td></td> <td> <table id="linkTable" border="0"> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" name="link"></td> <td><div id="result"></div></td> </table> </td> <td align="left" valign="top"><input type="button" value="Add Link" onclick="addLink('linkTable')"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><span style="color: red;"></span></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> <br /> <input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Form"> </form> Javascript file: Code: /* * script.js - ajax and table functions */ var xmlHttp; Hi, I currently have a form which is submitted using a html submit button. I was wondering what the best way is of using ajax to submit the page without the use of a submit button, and when the page submits, a message is displayed saying thank you for your booking. Thanks. This form retrieves results from a mysql database. It works fine but when I click submit it shows the result only for a second. When I hold down submit the result stays there. How do I get the result to stay on the screen after I hit submit? Even better how do I get it to spit out results without having to hit a submit button or press enter? Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function showUser(str) { if (str=="") { document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML=""; return; } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { document.getElementById("getSpecs").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","getspecs.php?model="+str,true); xmlhttp.send(); } </script> </head> <body> <form> Model: <input onchange="showUser(this.value)" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <br /> <div id="getSpecs"><b>Product info listed here.</b></div> </body> </html> I am trying to perform an AJAX lookup during form validation onsubmit. It is important that it takes place during submit, but it seems to always return true and allow the form to post even when it should not. I have tried putting the AJAX portion in its own function and having it return true or false to the validation function but also does not seem to work. Here is what the code looks like... Code: $("#companyform").submit(function() { $.ajaxSetup({ cache: false }); $.post("ajax_v2Functions.cfm", { coNum: $("#companyNumber").val() }, function(response) { if(response != "") { alert("That company number is already in use by " + response); $("#companyNumber").focus(); return false; } return false; } , "html"); if($("#companyname").val() == "") { alert("The company name cannot be left blank."); $("#companyname").focus(); return false; } if($("#companyNumber").val() == "") { alert("The company number cannot be left blank."); $("#companyNumber").focus(); return false; } }); how can I load data onto a form using jquery/java?
Hi, Need to put a cursor in a password form on page load here is what I got that does not work. This will be used on a touch screen Code: <script type = "text/javascript"> var count = 2; function validate() { var pw = document.myform.pword.value; var valid = false; /*Failed attempt to put cursor in myform on page Load */ function setCursor(myform){ return set; } var pwArray = ["1701", "Password2", "Password3", "Password4"]; // the corresponding passwords; for (var i=0; i <pwArray.length; i++) { if (pw == pwArray[i]) { valid = true; break; } } if (valid) { alert ("Login was successful"); window.location = "030.html"; return false; } var t = " tries"; if (count == 1) {t = " try"} if (count >= 1) { alert ("Invalid password. You have " + count + t + " left."); document.myform.pword.value = ""; setTimeout("document.myform.pword.select()", 25); count --; } else { alert ("Still incorrect! You have no more tries left!"); document.myform.pword.value = ""; document.myform.pword.disabled = true; return false; } } </script> Thank you for any help. Hi, I have a form which goes to my insert page which inserts the data into the table. Except I didn't want to do a redirect to another page so I thought I would do an Ajax call. Both pages work until I change it to an ajax call. I am pretty certain that it is because I took out the <form action="insert.php"> because otherwise the page would redirect but if that is the case I don't know my way around it and if it isn't the problem I'm not sure what is. But here is my code: Form: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html><head> <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc(File,ID){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.send(); } </script> </head> <body> <div id="txtHint"> <form action="" method="post"/> <div class="scroll"> <textarea rows="6" cols="60" class="input" name="para1" required="required" onclick="clearMe(this)"> Insert Paragraph 1 </textarea> </div> <br /> <br /> <div class="scroll"> <textarea rows="6" cols="60" class="input" name="para2" onclick="clearMe(this)"> Insert Paragraph 2 </textarea> </div> <br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" onclick="loadXMLDOC('insert.php','txtHint')" /> </form> </div> </body> And my insert.php is: Code: <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","user","password"); if (!$con){ die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("mydb", $con); $sql="INSERT INTO abc (para1, para2, date, time) VALUES ('{$_SESSION['para1]}', '{$_POST['para2']}',CURDATE(), CURTIME())"; mysql_query($sql) or die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_close($con) ?> I am creating a customized home page that can display regular links and login forms. I am adding Gmail login form into it. I can further customize it by putting multiple sign in buttons that can fill in username/password for different accounts before submitting. Here's the preview: http://imgur.com/s4Ert.jpg Now the problem is, in Gmail login form a hidden variable called "dsh" is filled with a value that is matched with server as well as a cookie, this value changes in some hours. So this means that I cannot create a complete offline form, but is it possible to load the login page hidden, and catch the value from it? I tried with an iframe with display:none and src="http://mail.google.com" but it opened in the top frame. Any other ideas? In short, what we need is, every time a page is opened from my computer, an online page should be open invisible from the user, and a hidden form value is to be fetched from it. I'm trying to write a progressively enhanced web application. I have an index page and a form with some select boxes and some radio buttons on a different php page. Before enhancement occurs, the form is accessible via regular links and everything works as expected. No issues. In the enhanced version of the application, the form is AJAXed into the index page. When this occurs, the select boxes in the form work perfectly. The radio buttons are initially unchecked and I can check one option as usual. However, once one is checked, clicking the other radio options does nothing. I am unable to check a different option. Anybody got a clue what the problem is? Using Chrome by the way. Firefox is the same as Chrome. In IE I can't even check a radio button the first time. Here's the code that's ajaxed in: Code: <label>First Time Buyer Status <!--These values can't be 1/0 because 0 stands for not set--> <input type="radio" name="FTB" id="FTBYes" value="1" <?php $M->checkFTBValue(1); ?> title=""/>First Time Buyer <input type="radio" name="FTB" id="FTBNo" value="2" <?php $M->checkFTBValue(2); ?> title=""/>Not First Time Buyer </label> The PHP script you see there checks if the value on the server matches the value of the radio button and echo's checked="checked" if true. I thought this could be causing the problem initially but the exact same code is used in the non-enhanced version and it works fine. I tried commenting it out anyway but it makes no difference. The only thing I can think of is that some javascript is preventing me from selecting a different radio option. That would explain why it works ok in the non-enhanced version because there is no JS there. I can't find anything that I've written that might cause this effect I'm using jQuerys form plugin on my pages. I'm going to try writing it out and see if that fixes anything. Any body ever experience a similar problem with this? In the mean time, is there a way I can check if any JS functions when I click on the radio button? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, there's so many different languages involved, I hadn't a clue where to put it. Hi, I have a problem with sending data from a form to a php script with AJAX. To test if it works, I try to send data from the form, print it in the php with "echo", and then put it back in the initial html file. My Javascript code is: Code: function registerPrivateUser() { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Your browser does not support AJAX!"); return; } var postData="firstName="+ document.getElementById("txtFirstName").value; var url="classes/users/checkRegistration.php"; xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("POST",url, true); //xmlHttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8"); xmlhttp.send(postData); } The function stateChanged, basically says: Code: if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { var strResponse; strResponse=xmlhttp.responseText; alert('Response:' + xmlhttp.responseText); } checkRegistration.php looks like this: PHP Code: <? session_start(); $firstName=$_POST['firstName']; echo($firstName); ?> The problem is that the response is empty, but I don't know why. I have checked the input data and the postData variable says "firstName="+input (e.g. "firstName=Robert"), so that's not the error. I have read several forum posts here, but still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong. If anyone could please tell me, I would appreciate it alot. he everyone please i want to know how to submit a form using ajax every 5 minutes without reloading page i have a huge form for exams and i need to submit the form without the need to wait until pressing submit because the user may wait to think about the answer a very long time.. so i want to submit the form and at the same time i cant reload the page as it is in normal submit form.. so how i can submit form in the background without letting the user knows that the form is submitted??? |
