JavaScript - The Values Doesn't Change
Hello guys,
I've problem with connected database to textbox the value doesn't change. I tried with dropdownlist ,still the same problem. what's the best tool for it. var TextBox3 = document.getElementById("<%=TextBox3.ClientID %>"); var x = TextBox3.value; <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox3" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource5" DataTextField="status" DataValueField="status"> </asp:TextBox> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource5" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:RFIDConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT status from reader where reader_id=2"></asp:SqlDataSource> Thank you Similar TutorialsI have a script where I need to change input values automatically, and I just can't find the right code for it. Here's a little of my code below, can anyone help me, please? Code: document.getElementById("Id").innerHTML="Text here"; I am working on an interest and investment calculator for a class project. On my list of drop down options, one of the options isnt an integer value like the rest. It's value is "other", while the other three are 1000, 5000, 1000, and 25000. What I would like to do is when the user chooses the "other amount" option from the drop down list, a prompt window will come up asking the user for an investment amount. I am having problems creating a function in my javascript file for this, and then taking the value entered and assigning a variable in another function with that new value so that it calculates with the users input. Please help. The first part of the attachment is the label with the "other" value I explained. And the second piece of code is my mess of a function that I tried to create for the prompt window to come up and store the users value and then change the value of the option. I'm new at this and am lost..... This is in my HTML: <label for="investment">One-Time Investment:</label> <select name="investment" id="investment" <optgroup label=""> <option value="1000">$1,000</option> <option value="5000">$5,000</option> <option value="10000">$10,000</option> <option value="25000">$25,000</option> <option value="other" >Other value</option> </optgroup> </select><br /> This is in my javascript file: var show_prompt = function() { if ($("other").checked ==true){ var number = prompt("please enter an investment amount", "1000"); var numb = parseFloat(number); $("other").value = numb; }else{ alert("Please enter your investment amount"); } return numb; } Hi JS Experts, I am working on a class registration system that requires students to register for a main class (101, 102 or 103). The student is supposed to select one main course as well as provide a second choice in case the first is not available. I have two dropdown select fields to capture data 1) Choice -1: 101 / 102 / 103 ( Student needs to select one - Reading the classID from classes table) 2) Choice -2: 101 / 102 / 103 ( If student selects 101 in Choice-1 then the only classes available under Choice-2 should be 102 or 103). How can I accomplish the above? Further to this there are two fields on the form where I would like to auto populate based on what they have selected in Choice-1 and Choice-2. For Example: If a parent selects choice1: 101 the child Choice1 field should autopopulate with 100. If a parent selects Choice2: 201 the child Choice2 field should autopopulate with 200 Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks Vinny Hi gud mng, I have one problem... How to process textbox values/ call textbox values in JS through a Java program. My text box values are dates. I have to process these dates. Hi, What's a good way/ideal data structure to achieve this? The objective of the code/function is to map user-inputted strings into a pair of specific, hard-coded strings. For example, say the user types "firefox" or "ff", or "fx". The output would be the pair ["browser", "mozilla"], for example. I'm currently using a multidimensional array, but it feels inefficient and I'm having trouble mapping an arbitrary number of inputs into 2 outputs. Code: var strings = [ ["input1", "output1a"], ["input2", "output1a"], ["input3", "output1a"], ["input1", "output1b"], ["input2", "output1b"], ["input3", "output1b"] ]; How should I map the elements ["input1", "input2", "input3"] => ["output1a", "output1b"] ? Another method I used previously was a massive switch statement. This fulfills my needs, but I'm not sure about the efficiency (though if I remember correctly, switch statements become more efficient as size grows, since it uses a hash table?). Code: switch (input) { case "ff": case "firefox": case "fx" : case "ffox": return ["browser", "mozilla"]; case "ie": case "internet explorer": return ["browser", "microsoft"]; ... } Hello, Current Live View: https://tornhq.com/AroundTheWorld/Lo...WorkingOn.html This content is going to be implemented into a form I am currently working on once completed. As you can see, not all of the countries have yet been broken down as some we're having difficulties doing so. Code: SList.getSelect = function (slist, option) { document.getElementById('scontent').innerHTML = ''; // empty option-content if (SList[slist][option]) { // if option from the last Select, add text-content, else, set dropdown list if (slist == 'scontent') document.getElementById('scontent').innerHTML = SList[slist][option]; else { var addata = '<option>- - -</option>'; for (var i = 0; i < SList[slist][option].length; i++) { addata += '<option value="' + SList[slist][option][i] + '">' + SList[slist][option][i] + '</option>'; } // cases for each dropdown list switch (slist) { case 'slist2': document.getElementById('slist2').innerHTML = txtsl2 + ' <select name="slist2" onchange="SList.getSelect(\'slist3\', this.value);">' + addata + '</select>'; document.getElementById('slist3').innerHTML = ''; break; case 'slist3': document.getElementById('slist3').innerHTML = txtsl3 + ' <select name="slist3" onchange="SList.getSelect(\'scontent\', this.value);">' + addata + '</select>'; break; } } } else { // empty the tags for select lists if (slist == 'slist2') { document.getElementById('slist2').innerHTML = ''; document.getElementById('slist3').innerHTML = ''; } else if (slist == 'slist3') { document.getElementById('slist3').innerHTML = ''; } } } I need to know how to edit the following, if there is a simple way to set the case for each one as they are not all split up into the same way, some are Districts, some states and whatnot so the new question varies. Or do I simply need to make another big list to do them all? Best Regards, Tim Reply With Quote 03-21-2013, 06:35 AM #2 Old Pedant View Profile View Forum Posts Supreme Master coder! I would certainly toss out your entire getSelect() function and rewrite it. But I'm also not clear on what your question is. Are you asking *HOW* to implement the third level? I don't see any countries with any third level data, at this point. If that's what you are asking, one possible way: Code: SList.slist2 = { ... "United Kingdom" : { "England" : ["Staffordshire", "Derby", ... ], "Scotland" : ["Edinburgh", ... ], "Wales" : [ ... ], "Northern Ireland" : [ .... ] }, ... }; I have to ask: Why would you name that Slist.slist2 instead of Slist.countries ?? Not that it really matters, but why not make code more self documenting? This is a script which has a window slide down on the page and a user can choose yes/no to continue. It works in all browsers other than IE...any help please? If you need more info, please let me know. They're each set to the corresponding id in the JS file. It's supposed to add #tab-1 to the end of the URL in the users browser when it's clicked. For example, when a user is at mypage.com and they click on the tab, it ads mypage.com/#tab-1 to the end. How come it doesn't do what I want when I click it though? Here's an example of how it's setup. HTML: <a href="#tab-1" id="tab1">Text</a> JavaScript: document.getElementById("tab1").onclick = function(){ this.href += "#tab-1"; } I've got a form textarea on my site, which after being submitted is stripped by my php file. Then my javascript kicks in and does some analysis of the entered text. However everytime the user entered a hard return within the textarea my javascript gives me an error 'tekenreeks niet afgesloten' which means something like 'string is not closed'. Therefore I decided to replace all occurences of chr(10) and chr(13) with ok2 (just some random characters), I did this with php which worked fine, and I didn't get the javascript error. However I need to reshow the entered text (original) to the user, so I need to restore the old values. I tried Code: result.waarde.replace('ok2', 'chr(13)'); but it doesn't work, as it still displays ok2. I'm no expert in javascript, but how can I replace those characters by the hard returns? Oh yeah I'll show some more coding, perhaps the error can be found the Code: result.waarde.replace('mdw', 'chr(13)');container.innerHTML = result.waarde; and in my html: Code: <div id='waarde' style="width:500px;"></div> Below is code using the onmouseover event, but it doesn't work.
