I want my code to be able to log a user in if they have the correct username and password fields.however,if the password or username is wrong i would like to display a message in the label that says 'not valid' if they do not put anything into the username or password field, the label should read 'field cannot be empty.' this is what i have so far.im sure i have done something wrong.thank you in advance function validate() { var login="true"; document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").innerHTML=""; var checkForX = document.getElementById("fname").value; document.getElementById("lblpass").innerHTML=""; var passw = document.getElementById("fpass").value; if(document.getElementById('checkForX').value.length==0) { document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").innerHTML="username cannot be empty"; document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").style.color="red"; login="false"; } else if(document.getElementById('passw').value.length==0) { document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").innerHTML="username cannot be empty"; document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").style.color="red"; login="false"; } else (checkForX != "username" ) { document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").innerHTML="not valid"; document.getElementById("lblFnameVal").style.color="red"; login="false"; } else if(passw !="password") { document.getElementById("lblpass").innerHTML="not valid"; document.getElementById("lblpass").style.color="red"; login="false"; } if(login =="true" ) { document.getElementById("mypassForm").submit() } } I want to create this box. http://i31.tinypic.com/oqb12q.jpg I know i can do it with a iFrame, but i've heard they are quite vunerable to hacking. I already have my .php sorted to show the admin posted news on my site (Im alright at .php; rubbish and javascript). Was just wondering if there was a way to do it without using iFrames ? Hi guys, Great site by the way =). Basically if you view http://debtclock.co.uk/contact and click the form submit before inputting any details in the boxes you will see that the boxes highlight red to indicate there are some fields missing. Everything works fine, but if you view it on I.E 8 you can see that the red fill doesnt appear, only the text above it saying there are errors. Anyway I hope someone can get back to me with an idea, I am sat here in the office pulling my hair out not having an idea what it could be ><><>< Hi, I know nothing about javascript but I was able to handle the instructions to install the login/password featu http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...ginpass2.shtml works great! however, when someone views the source code, they're able to see what the password is. additionally they can see the url of the page it would take them if they entered the password. how do i protect against this vulnerability? thanks in advance! Good evening! After spending the last few days wrecking my brain over a simple JavaScript quiz I decided it was time I asked for help. The complete code is right beneath this post. The page will display brief instructions followed by a table containing the quiz. I'm having two rather peculiar problems. The first is with the Score() function which reads as follows: function Score(){ for(i=1;i<=10;i++) if(ans[i]== yourAns[i]) score++; prequiz.score.value= score; } Now unless I'm mistaken (which I am since the score isn't being tabulated correctly) this function essentially uses a for to cycle through both arrays, comparing the user's input against the array containing the right answers. If the contents within index i are the same on both arrays the score increases by one point. Once it cycles through the arrays, it passes score over to prequiz.score.value which will later pass this number to the text box that will display the grade to the user. The problem I'm experiencing is that the score will either be stuck at 2 or will display as 9 (even though all 10 answers were correct). Steps I've taken to try to solve this: Thinking it was the setAnsArray(question, answer) function I added a document.writeline to it. However it showed that the values were being passed correctly to the answer array. Added a document.writeline to the Score() function. Unlike the point above, score always displays as 00000 regardless of how many right answers I provide. The second issue I'm having is that the reset button is not working correctly. If I hit reset and answer the first question, the score will come back as double the score displayed before. Any insight into what is causing this issue is greatly appreciated! Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding= "utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns= "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Pre-Quiz!</title> <script type="text/JavaScript"> var ans= new Array(10); var yourAns= new Array(10); var score= 0; ans[0] = "b"; ans[1] = "c"; ans[2] = "c"; ans[3] = "a"; ans[4] = "d"; ans[5] = "c"; ans[6] = "c"; ans[7] = "a"; ans[8] = "b"; ans[9] = "c"; function setAnsArray(question, answer) { yourAns[question]= answer; } function Score(){ for(i=1;i<=10;i++) if(ans[i]== yourAns[i]) score++; prequiz.score.value= score; } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Pre-Quiz</h1> <p>The following test will allow you to evaluate your knowledge in programming prior to starting the course. Hi, I'm very new to Javascript and I'm stuck. I am trying to create a js script that will prompt the user for a times table (example the 5 times table, the 7 times table, etc.) & prompt the user for 2 more values; the 'start' number and 'end' number. So there would be 3 numbers total the user must input. The script should present a 'warning' message if the user inputs letters or negative numbers. I have come very close to getting it too work but can't quite get past the last hurdle. Upon entering the 3 numbers, the output should look similar to this: (the 5 times table starting with 1 and ending with 12) The 5 times table 5 * 1 = 5 5 * 2 = 10 5 * 3 = 15 5 * 4 = 20 5 * 5 = 25 5 * 6 = 30 5 * 7 = 35 5 * 8 = 40 5 * 9 = 45 5 * 10 = 50 5 * 11 = 55 5 * 12 = 60 I have placed the js script code on pastebin.com and below. The pastebin link is: http://pastebin.com/2NZPiFH9 Code: function writeTimesTable(timesTable, timesByStart, timesByEnd) { for (;timesByStart <= timesByEnd; timesByStart++) { document.write(timesTable + " * " + timesByStart + " = " + timesByStart * timesTable + "<br>"); } } var timesTable; while ( (timesTable = prompt("Enter the first number in the times table. Enter -1 to exit.", -1)) != -1) { while (isNaN(timesTable) == true) { timesTable = prompt(timesTable + " is not a valid number, please retry.",-1); } if (timesTable == -1) { break; } document.write("<br>The " + timesTable + " times table<br>"); writeTimesTable(timesTable,1,12); } Hello all, I am looking to add an email validation to my new user registration form. Currently, we do not validate (or activate) a new user via an activation link in the email. We don't have that process. I'd like to get my hands on the code to randonly create a security code and the actual code to sent the validation email. Can anyone help me out here? I'm absolutely new to PHP or ASP coding. I do know some HTML. Thanks
I am facing an issue where a link on my website opens in a new window if you simply click on it. However, if you right click and say open in new window or new tab, it opens the same window (URL) again from where the link is clicked. Self Service Option is a link and the JSP calls a function getSelfServSite() when the link is clicked. This is how the code flows in my case function getSelfServSite() { getToTheLink("${myConfigInfo.selfServiceURL}"); // this is because the URL is configurable } function getToTheLink(url) { window.open (url, "currentWindow", ""); } What am I doing wrong. I want it to go to the right link no matter how the user click it. Please advise. Thanks I am trying to create three buttons that will scale the page up, down, or reset to a default value. I would like to base that incrementing on a global variable declared in javascript: Code: var canvasWidth = 600; Desired incrementing would be in sets of 200, so that when the user clicks zoom in once, the value is 800 and the page is redrawn, twice to 1000, and so on. All of the visual elements of the page are created in javascript and are sized based on this variable. Very little is done on the HTML page visually, except for a little display organization, so if possible I'd like to be able to complete this task mainly in the javascript file. Does this make sense? Here's part of the code, problem I have is I have it set up for 5 rows, I need it to be able to make more than this, but not sure how many more, this is dependent on user input, how should I go about this? Also how would I go about making the users orders correspond with the right item number? I'd need to sort the array somehow? document.write('<table border="1">'); document.write("<tr>"); document.write('<th colspan="5">ORDER</th>') document.write("</tr>"); document.write("<tr>"); document.write('<th align="left">Item #</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Name</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Price</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Quantity</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Total</th>'); document.write("</tr>"); document.write('<td align="center">0</td>'); document.write('<td>' + productName[0] + '</td>'); document.write('<td> $' + sausagePrice + '</td>'); document.write('<td> ' + orderItemQty[0] + '</td>'); document.write('<td> ' + sausageTotal + '</td Hello there guys! Thanks for taking time to view this thread. It's appriciated! I found a really nice menu (Javascript, JQuery) im not so high tech on this myself, and not the best coder either but whenever I use this menu it gives the login box on the website an error, it doesn't let people login.. I've tried to localize the error myself, but I just dont know how to fix it, I think the issue is that the site system i use doesn't support these type of scripts which gives the login errors! I'm currently using a free website system, which allows you to customize anything you want called "uCoz" The menu i used was: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...enu-glossy.htm And I think it's the jquery that gives the login box errors.. I'm thankfull for answers if anyone knows Hello everyone. I have a a html page that is used as a login page. I know it is not secure but this is just for learning purposes, I'm not using it for anything important. My problem is that when I put in the correct login all that happens is the page just clears the text boxes as if you were starting over. I am trying to get it to go to register.html which is located in the same directory as the login page. Help with what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Here is the code: Code: <html> <head> <title>Login Page</title> </head> <body> <script type = "text/javascript"> var count = 2; function validate() { var un = document.myform.username.value; var pw = document.myform.pword.value; var valid = false; var unArray = ["Philip", "George", "Sarah", "Michael"]; // as many as you like - no comma after final entry var pwArray = ["Password1", "Password2", "Password3", "Password4"]; // the corresponding passwords; for (var i=0; i <unArray.length; i++) { if ((un == unArray[i]) && (pw == pwArray[i])) { valid = true; break; } } if (valid) { alert ("Login was successful"); window.location = "register.html"; return false; } var t = " tries"; if (count == 1) {t = " try"} if (count >= 1) { alert ("Invalid username and/or password. You have " + count + t + " left."); document.myform.username.value = ""; document.myform.pword.value = ""; setTimeout("document.myform.username.focus()", 25); setTimeout("document.myform.username.select()", 25); count --; } else { alert ("Still incorrect! You have no more tries left!"); document.myform.username.value = "No more tries allowed!"; document.myform.pword.value = ""; document.myform.username.disabled = true; document.myform.pword.disabled = true; return false; } } </script> <form> <table border ="5"> <tr> <th colspan="2">Login</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Username:</td> <td><input type="text" name="username" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Password:</td> <td><input type="password" name="pword" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th colspan="2"><input type="Submit" value="Login" name="Submit" onClick="validate()" /><input type="Reset" value="Reset" /></th> </tr> </table> <p> <a href="register.html">New users click here to register</a> </p> </form></body></html> |
