JavaScript - Html Coding With Perl
I am creating an html document with perl. I wrote an event mouseover and mouseout to happen for every perl variable (over a loop). But looks like the event controls all the variables at the same time. How do I write the event only once but enable it to individually be applied for each item: this is what I have currently but this html when displayed, does not let me control the event separately for each $key.
Even though the buttons do get created for each $key, clicking on one, controls the $stats_data{$out}{$key} of all. I even tried passing the id to the show/hide script, but no luck. Some help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Code: <header><script>

Here's the deal.... I run a website that features a chat room written in Perl for CGI. The chat room will automatically email a user their password if it's forgotten but there is one issue.....it does not have the "Forgot Password?" link. To achieve the Lost Password page, the user must enter an invalid password FIRST on the login screen, otherwise they cannot get to that option and are often requesting assistance. What I had in mind was an easier way for the user to get their password since new novice members are not sure how to get to the lost password page. I'm not trying to edit the Perl code for the chat, but I wanted to build a "Forgot Password?" page using a Javascript code that will automatically take their username from the "username" login field and direct them to the lost password page which would be "chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=..." I'm sorry if this is confusing, I'm not sure that I am explaining this right. When the user enters an invalid password, it takes them to the lost password page which contains a link "lost password" and will automatically email them their login details when clicked on. When they click that link, the URL contains the string "chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=username" What I would like to do is put a link on the login page (like most normal chat rooms have) that says "Forgot Password?". When clicked on, I want it to take them to a page where all they have to do is enter their username in a form and click Submit, then have a Javascript code automatically extract their username from that field and insert their username automatically to the end of that URL (chat2.cgi?action=send_pwd&name=...) where ... would be the name extracted from that form field. This would result in the browser taking them to that URL which would trigger the chat to automatically email the password. Can I do this with Javascript?? If so, any help would be greatly appreciated! hello guys! I need help setting up a form, I want to do some pretty neat things: It will say: What countries do you want to visit? [FIELD] Part 1: I want that when a user starts typing into the field, it will suggest under things that match what you have typed so far, sort of like facebook search does. So I would need a list of recognized country names. Now for example imagine I was using this, and I typed in M, it would list under a max of 5 valid entries begining with M, if I typed in Me, it would list the ones begining with Me, if I typed in Mex, it would show Mexico. Now the user would have to click this drop down suggestion to choose it. Part2: I want once a user clicks on a suggestion, it will "pop under" the input box or somewhere, with a "x" beside it to remove it. The user can now type in another country, and when it is clicked it too appears as a sort of "icon" under the input box or somewhere, with an "x" beside it. Clicking the x removes the country from the current list of countries. Once he is done, he goes on to other fields and the selected countries remain visible. Once a user submits the form, I want to get only the countries that were visible to him. **An alternative idea, if this one is too complicated, would be to have a drop list with all countries in it, and once a person clicks one, it will remain and a "+" sign will appear under it. When pressed, another dropdown menu will appear so the person can choose another country from the second drop down, etc. OFC all selected countries can have an X to remove them. I would like to alter the presentation of a RADIO button choice with a DISABLED, based upon the earlier selection of from a <SELECT> drop down menu. Hello, I am trying to retrieve a cookie I stored with Perl through javascript. Based on the contents of the cookie, I want the javascript to print/not print an extra link on my page. Below is the code, in Perl, I am using to store the cookie. In the Perl forum I was told to post in here for the javascript help. The basic idea is that if the cookie has a "Role" of "Super," the ADMIN link displays on the page. If the role doesn't have "Super," the link is hidden. Doing this requires me to manually enter information in from his websites back office in to a different browser, using "Navigate, Merchant Plus" (that's a site used for banking etc. and allows you to charge cards through it). I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about coding, and I was just doodling with it trying to see if there's a way to automate this. If I can get the code, I can give it to my boss and he can enter it into the website and have a button you can press to transfer the information out of the fields required to charge the card on to the navigate websites fields where you place the information. Hey, I am new to coding. I'm learning Java, but I'm wondering if that's the first language I should learn, or should I study something else first. Any help would be very appreciated. I would like to learn how to make software programs, design websites, and hopefully develop video games.

Okay, I'm actually just starting out Javascript so I thought you guys could hopefully help me with a bit of a newb question. I'm trying to start a comic website, and in the process of trying to make the "Previous" and "Next" buttons. What I want is, everytime someone clicks the "Previous" button, the src of the img should change from 005 to 004, basically it's just subtracting a "1" from the img src, and the "Next" button does the opposite and adds a "1" to the img src. In my javascript code I have to type in a number in a textbox then click a button. When the button is pressed a popup message will come up displaying the number I typed in the text box. I found this code online to create a like/send buttons for Facebook to put under my posts on my website. When the user clicks "Like" or "Send" I want the content tags from the website to be automatically input into the user's Facebook post: so the Facebook plug-in/post function will attach the picture and link to the site, and have the tags (already associated with the picture within my site's coding) automatically entered as text into the post. I'm not a programmer and thought this might be a good place to get some help. Does something like this already exist that can be altered/edited? I am not familiar with this, and I'm having difficulty trying to explain it. These elements, could be a few, need to then be appended into the "parent" div. Basically, read in the data, format it then innerHTML or bottom it to parent div. The thing is.. I have access to the prototype library and I can only think of the easy way of.. grab the nodes in the xml and use "new element" to create the display and slot in the xml data. THEN append it to parent and just loop thru the xml nodes and repopulate, append etc.. till done. But I am thinking this is old school. Is there a better, more robust, classier way of doing this. Is there a way to actually "pre=code" the display (and just style hide it) and "read in via jascript" the display and slot in the xml values and append it, then "show" it. like clone it, display it - etc...
