I have one calculation to complete before I look to make the form live and I am hoping someone can provide the final peice of the jigsaw. The scoresheet can be found at http://www.stroudskittles.co.uk/test/scorecard.html The form adds togther the 5 values for each half for each team and places them in a Half Total box below. The form adds together the two totals for each half for each team then places them in a Total box below I have been able to add a operation using the onchange event the points are automatically calculated for each half and total, depending on the overall scores, 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw 0 for a loss. What I'm struggling to do is add the three points totals together to generate the Overall Points for a team and place them in a text box at the top of the scoresheet (marked xxx on the page). Can anyone suggest the best method to do this. Also is it possible to combine the sums into one script therefore reduing the overall size. Your help very much appreciated Hi, I'm currently designing a website for a takeaway company, and have one page displaying their menu. So that customers can easily calculate how much their takeaway will cost, I'm going to put checkboxes next to each item. Each of the checkboxes' value will be the price of the item, and I need a script that will add the values (prices) of the checkboxes they've ticked. They can then see the total cost of their takeaway without having to work it out, and add or remove items accordingly. I will then add a button which will print out a list of the items they ticked with the total price at the bottom. The customer can bring this in with them and the staff can easily see what they want and how much to charge them. Firstly, I need to know how to make Javascript add these values (and probably save them as a variable) Secondly, how would I make this display on the page (either after they click a button, or automatically so they can see the price real-time)? - I assume this would be basic coding --- Code: document.write(var) And finally, how could I make a script which would print only the items which are ticked, and the total price? Any help with this, even if you can only answer one of the questions, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! -- AJE Hello, I am extremely new to JS so please bear with me. Any help is very much appreciated. Currently I am trying to take the values of 2 or more select boxes, add them together and then update a text field each time a selection in one of the select boxes is made. Basically, I am trying to keep a running total. Currently I have it set up so that onchange it grabs the selected value. The problem is that it is being processed as a string I believe. For instance, if there are two variables, a=111 and b=222, the output in the text field reads 111222. I tried using parseInt, but that just returns NaN (not a number?...just a guess). I have seen this solved with if statements, grabbing the selected index # and then assigning an integer, but I am hoping there is an easier way. Again, your help is appreciated. Hey javascript newbie, Im trying to figure out how to add different radio if its selected or not example: Radio_Button1 value="5": Selected Radio_Button2 value="15": Not Selected Radio_Button3 value="25": Selected Radio_Button4 value="35": Selected var addingitup = ??? and im lost???? I have some asp:radiobutton lists that need to update a label with the sum of their values each time a user selects a new value. I am brand new to javascripting and would like some insight on how to get this done. I have inserted my code below. Code: <asp:Label runat="server" Text="Greeting:" /> <asp:Label runat="server" ForeColor="Red" ID="lbl_GreetingScore" Text="0" /> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rdb1_1" runat="server" RepeatDirection="Horizontal"> <asp:ListItem Selected="True" Text="N/A" Value="4" /> <asp:ListItem Text="Yes" Value="4" /> <asp:ListItem Text="No" Value="0" /> </asp:RadioButtonList> This is the code that I have, on selecting the first item in the first list it populates the second list with users. What I need to do is create a "value" for each of the items in the second list. Cheers Dan. I want to add up multiple values of groups of checkboxes. I managed to add up the values, but making it so that only one checkbox per group can be enabled at any time gives me a headache. Link to Site/Code hi, i am currently working on aptana stuidio Nokia WRT to create a mobile widget. the projects requires the retrieval of data from a database. I've created a java servlet in eclipse to connect and execute query to the database. In aptana, i'm using js file and html file. i am able to connect to the servlet, process the data (split it) and store in an array to display the retrieved data on screen. But now i am facing problems to put the retrieved data (array) into a drop down list for selection. can i do it in a js file? thanks =) Hi, I'm trying to find out the min and max values of randomly generated values in a array list. Its a checkout system that randomly add a customer to a queue and does the same to remove a customer depending on a randomly generated number. Ive managed to figure out the mean of the queue but can only display the total values added to the list rather than display when the queue was at it biggest value. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. ___________________________________________________________________ import java.io.BufferedWriter; import java.io.FileWriter; import java.io.IOException; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.LinkedList; import java.util.ListIterator; import java.util.Queue; import java.util.Random; public class Checkout { private Queue<String> tillQueue; private int rndNumber; private int currentLen; private ArrayList <Integer>lengthList; private Random r; public Checkout() { tillQueue = new LinkedList<String>(); currentLen = 0; //current queue length lengthList = new ArrayList <Integer>(); r= new Random(); } public void simulation() { System.out.println("Time" + "\t" + "Rnd" + "\t" +"Queue Status"); for (int t=2; t<10; t++) { rndNumber =r.nextInt(6)+1; if (rndNumber==2 || rndNumber==4 || rndNumber==6) { tillQueue.add(String.valueOf(t)); currentLen++; } else if ((rndNumber==1 || rndNumber==3) && !tillQueue.isEmpty()) { tillQueue.remove(); currentLen--; } else if(rndNumber==5) { //do nothing } if(tillQueue.isEmpty()) { System.out.println(t + "\t" + rndNumber + "\t" + "Queue is empty"); } else { System.out.println(t + "\t" + rndNumber + "\t" + tillQueue.toString()); } lengthList.add(new Integer(currentLen)); } } public double CalculateMeanLength() { double mean=0.0; int sumOfLengths = 0; for (int i = 0; i<lengthList.size();i++) { sumOfLengths=sumOfLengths+(Integer)lengthList.get(i).intValue(); } mean = (double)sumOfLengths/lengthList.size(); return mean; } public int ShowMax() { int max = 0; //i know its going to be a for loop of some kind but not sure how to do it// } ----------------------------output via controller================ Time Rnd Queue Status 2 6 [2] 3 5 [2] 4 3 Queue is empty 5 5 Queue is empty 6 1 Queue is empty 7 5 Queue is empty 8 5 Queue is empty 9 4 [9] mean length = 0.375 max length = 3 //the max length here should be 1 =========================================== Thanks in advance for your help Hi, I doing my project in Netbeans, and I have this .java page, that sets and gets a html form where there are textboxes and drop down lists, as far as I know, although getElementById() is a javascript code, it can be used in my .java page, but I do not know how to implement it. What I'm supposed to do is to get the values from the drop down list and save them to a database that I've already have. Code: HtmlPage page = null; page.getElementById(id); but because I do not know what should the id be since the .java page is not a jsp page and the drop down list values cannot be retrieved directly. Need help here, thanks. Hi there. This is my first thread. I'm completely new to javascript. I want to use dreamweaver with javascript to do a litter project in which I want to move value "Saleman" from drop-menu 1 and value "Billy" from drop-down 2 to a list box. The result should be as follows: dropdown 1 Manager Salesman (to be selected) Cleaner dropdown 2 Billy (to be selected) Susan Ivan --- [Add button] Listbox Salesman - Billy Thank you for your help. Cheers Raymond I tried implementing a cleaner approach to a web form I had created, but it doesn't seem to be passing the values to the server properly. What gives? This form on the left and right work perfectly, but they have two ridiculously long drop down lists, which would be the "ProgramOfInterest" fields (please use the following values preselected in this form) http://www.nationalcollegesearch.org..._pingpost.html On this form, I tried creating a triple drop down list setup to clean up the older, long lists in this example, but it doesn't pass the values properly. It also seems to not duplicate the new drop down triple drop lists properly as in the original form. You can change the values in the drop downs in the forms to see what I mean. Also just pick Bachelor's > B_Business > Business Administration in the triple drop downs for an example since I don't know how to preselect those values. http://nationalcollegesearch.org/Integrate/PleaseHelpMeWithMyCode/integrate_pingpost_experiment.html Please let me know if there is anything I can do to pass the correct values to the server. Thanks! P.S. Please note that I have disabled the form on the right and intentionally left the action empty. Hi all, I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County). I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database. This piece of code is working well . . . . Code: <?php $link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database'); if(isset($_GET["County"]) && is_numeric($_GET["County"])) { $County = $_GET["County"]; } if(isset($_GET["Region"]) && is_numeric($_GET["Region"])) { $Region = $_GET["Region"]; } ?> <script language="JavaScript"> function autoSubmit() { var formObject = document.forms['theForm']; formObject.submit(); } </script> <form name="theForm" method="get"> <!-- County SELECTION BASED ON city VALUE --> <?php ?> <select name="County" onChange="autoSubmit();"> <option value=''</option> <?php //POPULATE DROP DOWN MENU WITH COUNTRIES FROM A GIVEN city $sql = "SELECT * FROM county_regions"; $counties = mysql_query($sql,$link); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($counties)) { echo ("<option value=\"$row[CountyID]\" " . ($Region == $row["CountyID"]? " selected" : "") . It probably would be more appropriate here as there is much Javascript involved.... Hello, I am trying to construct a Jukebox for my website. I have spent considerable time all over the WEB and at this forum which addressed the issue in a 50 page thread. Please see: http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=50666 I got a lot of ideas from this thread but still cannot figure a way to do the following within the Jukebox. These are my main two questions for everything below: 1. How can I have the Jukebox cycle through all tunes and then start over from the beginning? 2. How can I allow the user to select a tune from a list but not a drop down list, have the Jukebox start from the user’s selection and then play all songs to the end. Then as in #1, start over from the beginning? Per this thread I came away with basically two ways to assemble the jukebox. One uses links in a drop down list which the user can choose from. The other is to use an .m3u playlist. The user can only select a “playlist” from the drop down. Below, I have included the code for each Jukebox. To see the Jukeboxes in action please go to my website where I have posted some test pages exhibiting the jukeboxes that I am referring to. The following is the Jukebox which utilizes an .m3u playlist. If I end up using this idea I would like the tunes in the .m3u playlist to be displayed and allow the user to be able to choose a tune in the list. Then have the list play to the end of all tunes in the list. Then start over from the beginning of the list. After this code is the .m3u playlist. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using an .M3U Playlist” Jukebox utilizing an .m3u playlist: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> <br> <br> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="JukeboxList.m3u">Jukebox List</option> </select><br> </html> Here is the .m3u playlist for the above code: Code: #EXTM3U #EXTINF:Bill Evans - G Waltz media/G Waltz.mp3 #EXTINF:Dan Pincus - In Your Time media/In Your Time.mp3 The following code is for the Jukebox that has a list of links in a dropdown list. If I go with this idea, I would like for the list not to be a dropdown list but just a list of tunes. The user should be able to click on any tune in the list and the player should start from that point, play all the remaining tunes in the list and then start from the beginning. The good thing about it is that it lists all the tunes in the playlist which the user can then select from. This jukebox calls up an entire Windows Media Player. Dan I would like to make an ordered list, for example: 1. Airplane 2. Boat 3. Car I'd like one of the words to be displayed on my webpage, for example: Boat Then I'd want an up button, and a down button. The up button would display Airplane instead of Boat, and the down button would display Car instead of Boat. Once it got to Car, the same up button would change it back to boat. How do I do this? Thanks. |
