JavaScript - Triggring Event On An Element Of A Dynamically Generated Iframe
Hello friends,
I want to trigger click event on an iframe's element through the main window, Doing it both ways, with or without jquery, will be usable for me. Basically, what I want to do is, I have developed a website http://www.ipjugaad.com, and on every document download page, I have placed an fb like button, what I want to do is that the like button should be automatically clicked when a user click on download button on my website. Give me some idea about how to do it? Similar TutorialsI'm new here and this is my first post, I hope I can find help here. How can i dynamically generate this type of form element in javascript, including the table rows and columns enclosing the form elements and whenever that 'Add More' button is clicked, a new instant of the same form will generated and select drop down list populated. I have try to google for solution, but without success. I code in PHP, but i need it to integrate in my code. Thanks for your help. Hello! Im having problem generating the labels for content created by the following function: Code: function setOutput(){ if(httpObject.readyState == 4){ var answer = httpObject.resultsponseText.split(","); var results = document.getElementById("resultsultadosScan1"); var article = document.createElement("div"); var weight = document.createElement("div"); var price = document.createElement("div"); article.className = "article"; weight.className = "weight"; price.className = "price"; document.getElementById('outputText0').value = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[0]; document.getElementById('outputText1').value = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[1]; document.getElementById('outputText2').value = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[2]; article.innerHTML = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[0]; weight.innerHTML = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[1]; price.innerHTML = httpObject.innerHTML= answer[2]; results.appendChild(article); results.appendChild(weight); results.appendChild(price); } } A friend wrote this sample script to achieve generation of labels on my script, but I have been trying for hours with no luck, can someone take a look and tell me the correct usage of this script: Code: function createLabel() { var target = document.getElementById("target"); var label = document.createElement("label"); var text = document.createTextNode("Article"); label.appendChild(text); target.appendChild(label); } Can you help me with the correct "combination" using my script above, a "real life" example? Thanks a lot! note: this is not homework Hi all, Currently I am doing this: Code: var e = document.getElementById('id'); e.style.color = '#ff0000'; e.style.fontFamily = 'sans-serif'; e.innerHTML = time; ...blah blah... What I'm actually doing is inserting the current time into an existing DIV and updating it every second. THAT all works. What I want to do is also set an event for that div.... something like this: e.event.onclick = 'runThisCode()'; Of course, the above doesn't work... and I'm not even sure what to ask for doing a Google search... because I get no hits (or maybe it's not possible). So, is it possible, and if so, how? Thanks! -- Roger p.s. I really don't want to edit the code itself (where that div is) because it's part of another app that may change as they update it and I don't want to have to re-patch every new release. Hi I am new to javascript programming. Is it possible to append an event handler to a tag dynamically. <input type="button" id="cmdNext" value="Next Page"> i want to be able to programatically loop through the buttons on a page and then add the onClick event. So my finally result will be the following: <input type="button" id="cmdNext" value="Next Page" onClick="CheckValues()"> Since i am new (if possible) can someone provide detail code example so i can break it down and study it before i implement. Can someone see what is wrong with this code: Code: frm=document.createElement('form') frm.action="/cgi-sys/formmail.pl" frm.method="POST" fld=document.createElement('textarea') fld.appendChild(document.createTextNode(simpleCart.items)) frm.appendChild(fld) It is supposed to dynamically create a textarea and fill it up with the return of simpleCart.items() Hello everyone! I have a select (combo box) element that gets filled with items when selected item changed in another one (master combo box). It works in Chrome, FireFox but not in IE (all latest browser versions). How do I populate the items in the child combo box: - ajax call of a PHP script - that returns items for the combo box: echo '<option value="' . $id . '">' . $name . '</option>'; - setting innerHTML attribute of the child combo box to a value that gets returned by the ajax call: document.forms['parametersForm'].elements['stationId'].innerHTML = html; Do I need to return JSON object (or XML) by the PHP script and programically add items (in JavaScript) in the ajax callback or is there an alternative? Obviously building DOM with echoing PHP result doesn't work well in IE. Thanks for your future help! Regards Hello; I have a situation where an image tag is nested in an anchor tag set. The anchor is assigned an id and is assigned a click/onclick event listener. The anchor id corresponds to a list of objects in an array. In practice, the image tag is receiving the event. The code does setAttribute in another elements img tag src attribute. The image tag receiving the click event, (and passing it to the anchor tag) is event.target. (or event.srcElement, in the case of I.E.) My Question: What I want to know is how to reference the event.target parent element, the anchor tag elements Id attribute. Code: sample anchor/img tag set: <a style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#cccccc" id="An 1" alt="An 1" href="javascript:"><img style="border:1px solid;border-color:#cccccc" src="WC_port/windows/img//an_1.jpg" width="100" height="131" /><br /><br />An 1</a> I see the double slash in the img src path attribute. It is working as is in test browser: Firefox ( so far) This is in development stages. Later, I will assign the elements a css class rule. in my code, event.target.src has a usable value (src attribute of the img tag) It does not have a usable value for event.target.id (id attribute of the anchor tag) I am doing it this way so in the absence of javascript, the anchors href attribute defaults to a non scripted value. Thank you for time and attention JK I am building iframes from database entries. Is it possible to resize them with an onclick event?
Hi all, I am really stuck on this: I have an iframe on my page <iframe id="displayframe">. I used security="restricted" to create a more 'secure' frame but that means that any forms which submit will be opened in a new window... away from my website. I also have a textbox, called "showurl" which acts as an 'address bar' to the iframe and the accompanying button "go". I read on Stanford's website that: "It is possible to use JavaScript inside the restricted iframe, by attaching event handlers from the outside (unrestricted) window. This allows the outer window to get around the restriction that hyperlinks in a restricted iframe are supposed to open in a new window. " So I would need a function that would detect when a new page has been opened (ie. a form has been submitted) and would be able to take the URL of the new page, copy the new page's URL into the textbox and click the button "Go" and close the new page (the one which just opened) All in all... The event handler needs to get the url of the submitted form page (the opened window) paste it into the textbox "showurl", click the button "go" and then close the opened window. Could anyone help me out on this? It would be greatly appreciated!! Hi, I would like to know how I can use JavaScript to find the size of my iFrame and feed it to Shadowbox to launch the appropriate sized shadowbox on different browsers and resolutions. For me, the parent page is called 'demo.html' and the iFrame is 'gallery/archive_iframe.html'. Currently, the shadowbox is launched with a fixed height and width (which you will see in the HTML code below). The problem is that 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' displays differently on every browser and every resolution, causing unwanted horizontal and vertical scroll bars. An example can be seen he http://www.mikegermond.com/demo.html Here is the code that I use in 'demo.html' to launch the iFrame: Head Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="/shadowbox/libraries/mediaplayer/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/shadowbox/shadowbox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src='/shadowbox/libraries/mediaplayer/swfobject.js'></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function moveCloseLink(){ var cb=document.getElementById('sb-nav-close'); var tb=document.getElementById('sb-title'); if(tb) tb.appendChild(cb); } Shadowbox.init({ onOpen: moveCloseLink, flvPlayer: '/shadowbox/player.swf', language: 'en', players: ["flv","iframe"], flashParams: {allowfullscreen:'true'}, flashVars: { skin: '/shadowbox/modieus.swf', image: '/upload/demo-poster.jpg', autostart: true } }); </script> Body Code: <A HREF="/gallery/archive_iframe.html" rel="shadowbox;width=750;height=486" class="imgLink" title="Video Archive"><img src="gallery/videoarchive_thm.jpg" alt="Launch Video Archive (popup window)" width="260" height="162" border="0" /></A> What do I need to do in 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' if anything? My thought is that I need to wrap it in a DIV tag and find the width and height of that. And what do I need to do in 'demo.html'? I'd assume some code is needed to pull the dimensions discovered in my iframe document, and insert those into the link that launches Shadowbox. Consider me a JavaScript newbie! You're help is greatly appreciated!! I'm slowly scraping away errors from a page im working on and ive found this forum to be very helpful- down to one more that i wanted to post on. sample page is he http://darrenlasso.com/freelance/loo.../lookbook.html Works fine in most all browsers except for IE8- ive even had to include built in ie7 compatibility to get it to work at all. Problem is most likely associated with my js, which is: Code: function ShowPage(frame) { frames[0].location = frame+'.html' } and html is: Code: <div id="thumb1"><a onmouseover="ShowPage('frame1')"onclick="ShowPage('frame1')" rel="nofollow" target="mainbox"></a></div> <div id="thumb2"><a onmouseover="ShowPage('frame2')"onclick="ShowPage('frame2')" rel="nofollow" target="mainbox"></a></div> <div id="thumb3"><a onmouseover="ShowPage('frame3')"onclick="ShowPage('frame3')" rel="nofollow" target="mainbox"></a></div> etc etc.. Which is just something i found online - probly isnt right for what im trying to accomplish. If you go to the site- you navigate by hovering over/clicking the images at the top and that loads a new page into the iframe below. Id like to be able to fix the errors and get it working without having to force ie7 compatibility if possible too. Any help is much appreciated Sorry for the title- i'm doing my best to describe my problem. So this is basically it: I have some javascript onmouseover events that change the content of an iframe. The problem is that within the javascript calls, I have some url's attached to rollover buttons INSIDE the parent div's that are being manipulated by javascript. So the iframe refreshes properly when its supposed to, but it ALSO refreshes as each of the links inside the effected div are rolled over as well. So there is too much extra refreshing and lots of clicking noises because of the Internet Explorer default noise settings. The easiest way to see what im talking about is to go to: http://maybetheworldisending.com/fre...HOMEPAGE_jan4/ An example of the problematic code is as follows: Code: <div class="beachcomberoff" target="mainbox" onmouseover="ShowPage('frame1_slider');this.className='beachcomberon'" onmouseout="this.className='beachcomberoff';"> <div id="turquoise1"><a href="#"></a></div><div id="coral1"><a href="#"></a></div><img src="HOMEPAGE_jan4_web/beachcomber.png" width="453" height="330" border="0"></div> The prob is that the div's named turquoise1 and coral1 are being effected by the javascript on the containing div. How do i make it unaffected by that js? Is there something like a "onmouseover=do nothing" or something of the sort? Hello all I am new here but this place looked great and like one of the only places where I could find the answer to my question. I have created a page which pulls search results from various sites using PHP. It displays each result in a row in a table upon running. I wanted to add a button saying "More information" at which point, a div would appear and load the associated link for that search result within an iframe within the newly appeared div. I've been able to get a div appear and disappear on button click but, I couldn't get it to dynamically load an iframe on click with the associated search results link. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also let me know if you need more information before assisting. Thanks! Try to figure out how to change the css display property of a table, from hidden, to block outside of an iframe. //This data is outside of the iframe Code: <style> #table {display: hidden; z-index: 100;} </style> <table id='table' ><td> ......data</td></table> //This link is inside of an iframe Code: <script> function change(){ document.getElementById("table").style.display='block'; } </script> <a href='javascript:void(0)' onclick='change()'>Change</a> Hi I have this page below which I run locally that is created dynamically: I need a piece of javascript to focus on the captcha as shown in the image inside the green box. At this minute I have this which doesn't work all that great for some reason but it gets it to the general area... Code: if (( document.URL.indexOf("cast_skills") != -1 ) || ( document.URL.indexOf("security_prompt") != -1 ) || ( document.URL.indexOf("joinraid") != -1 )){ if ( document.forms.length > 0 ) { document.forms[0].elements[1].focus(); } } As I said this does the job to some extent however it does not leave the focus in a perfect position so that the captcha is readable and the text box visible to type in, as illustrated in the red box in the above image. Help with this would be great. Many thanks, David. Hi forum, I am trying to attach an event to a dynamically produced button, and then use stopPropagation and preventDefault. Code: function chapter12_nodeOne() { //create an element var element = document.createElement('input'); //set some attributes element.setAttribute('type', 'button'); element.setAttribute('value', 'submit'); element.setAttribute('id', 'myBtn'); //appendd the element into a DIV document.getElementById('myDiv').appendChild(element); //uses EventUtil to attach an event listener EventUtil.addHandler(element, 'click', function() { alert('event attached'); }); var flag = confirm('prevent default behavior of button?'); if (flag) { var el = document.getElementById('myBtn');/////////////////////////(1) var ev = el.onclick; } } var EventUtil = { addHandler: function(element, type, handler) { //check if the element and the browser support DOM Level 2 event attachment //if the user is not browsing with IE if (element.addEventListener) { element.addEventListener(type, handler, false); } //if user is browsing with IE else if (element.attachEvent) { element.attachEvent("on" + type, handler); } //if user is using a browser that only supports DOM Level 0 event attachment else { element["on" + type] = handler; } }, removeHandler: function(element, type, handler) { //check if the element and the browser support DOM Level 2 event attachment //if the user is not browsing with IE if (element.removeEventListener) { element.removeEventListener(type, handler, false); } //if user is browsing with IE else if (element.detachEvent) { element.detachEvent("on" + type, handler); } //if user is using a browser that only supports DOM Level 0 event attachment else { element["on" + type] = null; } } }; But when debugging I see under el on the line marked with (1) that the onclick event is null. What am I doing wrong?! PS:the event is attached, when I click on the button I get an alert message is it possible to capture the control.event or element.event that was fired to invoke the onbeforeunload event. for example, if a button is clicked and it causes the onbeforeunload event to fire can i determine which button was clicked. thanks The bit of code in bold in the code below is giving me this error in IE: Error: Code: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; Tablet PC 2.0; InfoPath.2; OfficeLiveConnector.1.4; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; MSN OptimizedIE8;ENGB) Timestamp: Tue, 16 Mar 2010 15:07:11 UTC Message: HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed (KB927917) Line: 0 Char: 0 Code: 0 URI: http://www.mateinastate.co.uk/users/mateinastate Code: Code: if(document.getElementById('msn1').innerHTML=="") { document.getElementById('msn1').style.display='none'; } if(document.getElementById('yahoo1').innerHTML=="") { document.getElementById('yahoo1').style.display='none'; } if(document.getElementById('skype1').innerHTML=="") { document.getElementById('skype1').style.display='none'; } if(document.getElementById('facebook1').innerHTML.toLowerCase().substr(0,18)=='<a href="http://">') { document.getElementById('facebook1').style.display='none'; } else if(document.getElementById('facebook1').innerHTML.toLowerCase().substr(0,11)=='<a href="">') { document.getElementById('facebook1').style.display='none'; } else { document.getElementById('fbook-add').innerHTML='Facebook Profile'; } What it's saying isn't actually true (I don't think)... this is how the section is laid out: Code: <div id="submenu1" class="anylinkcss"> <ul> <li class="contact-pm"><a href="/index.php?do=pm&act=new&to=$RateViewProfileUserName$&returnurl=$ReturnURL$">PM me</a></li> <li class="contact-email"><a href="/index.php?do=email&id=$RateViewProfileUserId$">E-mail me</a></li> <li class="contact-msn" id="msn1">$RateViewProfileUser-profile_msn$</li> <li class="contact-yahoo" id="yahoo1">$RateViewProfileUser-profile_yahoo$</li> <li class="contact-skype" id="skype1">$RateViewProfileUser-profile_skype$</li> <li class="contact-facebook" id="facebook1"><a href="$RateViewProfileUser-profile_facebook$"><span id="fbook-add"></span></a></li> </ul> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="/html_1/js/contact-information.js"></script> Does anyone know why this might error in just IE?
