Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property HTMLDocument.location My issue is that I have several partner sites on different domains that bring in my header and navigation via an Iframe. These partner sites do not host any of the code. Within this iframe I have a search box. When a user enters their search from outside the iframe it works fine. If a user tries to submit a search from within the iframe the following error occurs: Error: uncaught exception: Permission denied to get property HTMLDocument.location Now I know this is a security issue, it is explicitly disallowed when the iframe is from another domain -- it violates the same-origin policy. However I don't have any other method of doing this. I am hoping there is some sort of work around for this. Any ideas? You can see my test page he http://www.arcade-at-home.com/search/ the search in the upper left works, but the same search in the iframe doesn't. (as explained above) I'm sure people have found a way around this somehow. I'm using a javascript code that I found online to automatically resize the iframe based on the content inside of it. This is the code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function resizeIframe() { document.getElementById('blog').style.height = document.getElementById ('blog').contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight + 'px'; } </script> This works perfectly in Google Chrome. However, in Firefox I get this error in the console: Code: Error: Permission denied to access property 'document' Source File: http://mysite.com/index1.html Line: 24 I don't have any experience with javascript, but this makes no sense to me, because it should work since the iframe document is on the same domain and server as the parent page. The parent is "mysite.com/index1.html" and the iframe document is "mysite.com/blog/". Why is Firefox complaining about this? It shouldn't violate the "same origin policy" that I have read about. Any help with getting this to work would be appreciated. I have two servers jboss and ejabbered and i have deployed two html files, one on each as follows: testdirver.html deployed on ejabbered <html><head> <script> function viewmembers() {var w=window.open("http://192.168.56.134:8080/nkms1/kms/test.html");} </script> </head> <body><form name="sub" > <input type="text" id="to" name="to"> <button onClick= "viewmembers();"> </form></body></html> test.html on jboss <html> <script> function abc() {alert(window.opener.document.forms[0].to);} </script> <body onload=abc();></body></html> Problem: window.opener.document gives the js error "Access is Denied" which i am not able to understand. Exchanging the two files on the servers(i.e. testdriver.html on jboss and test.html on ejabbered works fine and i get the output [object]). So i am guessing there is something that has to do with the ejabbered server Hi I have developed an internet mapping site which uses an html viewer with various frames to pull in a mapping window, a legend / key and a frame of tools amongst other things. It works absolutely fine in Internet Explorer version 6, but whilst testing it in Internet Explorer 7, my mapping window is not loading up the image. It might seem strange me posting this in a javascript forum but as the error is javascript related I thought I would give it a shot! The error message I am receiving is "Access is denied". After looking online, it appears as though this error could be linked to the use of frames; and those frames trying to access other windows with different document domains?? Does anyone know if new security measures have been implemented in IE7 which restricts the use of frames? My code is below; does anyone notice anything that might give this kind of javascript error? Any help will be greatly appreciated as I do not tend to dable too much in javascript! On this page, I have a single iframe and want to display the url of the iframe in a div. It works upon initial loading, but the url does not change when a link within the iframe is clicked and a new iframe page loads within the frame. My users need the ability to determine and directly link/view the iframe url. Here is the script Code: <iframe id="mainFrame" name="mainFrame" class="inner-center" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto" width="100%" height="400" src="whats_new.htm"></iframe> <p> <div class="footer"><script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"> <!--document.write('<input type="text" style="width:100%; " ');--> document.write( document.getElementById('mainFrame').src); </script> </div> I am a js novice and trying to figure out what to research and implement. Can you reload the content in the div? do I want to look at cross-frame scripting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Eiger Hi I have a page with 3 iFrames, showing different content. iFrame1: Here is a navigation php page. Click on a menu item and it loads a php page in iFrame2 iFrame2: Here is a list of items from a database. iFrame3: I load 3 different php pages here. (A) is the main showing page. (B) and (C) is a record manipulation page, that does some editing in the database and then redirects to (A). When the (A) php page loads, it should reload iFrame2 I have tried to put something like: <body onLoad=parent.location.reload()> and put it on the (A) php page. This will reload the entire page, which works. However, it results in a loop of reloads, as the (A) iFrame file will load with the entire page reload... So, I was looking for the right code to put, like onLoad=iFrame2.location.reload() However, I can't seem to find the correct code, so I hope any of you can help me... What I would like to do is have a page with a dropdown menu, and depending on which option the user chooses from the dropdown, reload the page and display a particular iframe below the dropdown, based on the users choice. Also, a default iframe would load (the one connected to the default choice in the select box). Hopefully that makes sense. I was trying to make this work with PHP (without having the user having to click a submit button) but I couldn't find a way to make it happen.
Hi all! I am trying to write code that does the following: 1) creates an array with 6 objects in it. 2) each object has a respective image. 3) from the 6, one object is selected as the "target" 4) all the 6 images are displayed on the screen with a hint as to which of the 6 is the target this time. 5) the user selects one of the 6 he/she thinks is the right object. 6) if the selection is right, his/her score increases by 1, and the whole process loops. The issue is I want the whole process to loop, but I want to store the users score somewhere otherwise it will get reset to 0 everytime the process loops.I've been told I could use cookies for this, but I've been reading a lot that cookies are outdated. Is there an easy way to do this without cookies? The required code is below: Code: <head> <script language="text/javascript"> var redScore = 0; .... targets = new Array(); // creating a new array with all the possible elements .... fisherYates(targets); //randomizing the array ... var theTarget = targets[0]; // selecting the element at index 0 to be the target ... ... lots of code that is not relevant ... ... function redClick( buttonLocation ) { if(buttonLocation == redLocation){ redScore = redScore +1; I need something here that will save the score and reload the page } } ... ... </script> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <td><img id="red0" onclick="redClick(0)" /></td> <td><img id="red1" onclick="redClick(1)" /></td> <td><img id="red2" onclick="redClick(2)" /></td> ... ... ... </tr> </table> </body> I know this is quite complicated, so any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thank you! There are two pages, folder/india.html folder/usa.html and dropdown menu in each page to switch between india and usa pages. india.html page sells in INR and usa.html in USD with links to shopping carts for each currency. link1(INR) link2(USD) Except the link and the currency information(selling price), contents in both the pages are same. So here comes the problem. Google hates duplicate pages! I am looking for a solution where, a single page In That Page, a dropdown menu to select currency As the currency is selected, without page reload, the link to shopping cart and the pricing also should be changed according to the selected currency. So Single page should be able to handle both the currencies. Kindly suggest me with codes as I am new to javascript. Thanks a lot Hello, If JavaScript is disabled, does the content in an iframe become un-viewable/ blocked? This is in general, regardless of how safe or trusted the website/ content is.
