JavaScript - Help Needed With A Misbehaving Button.
Currently my chess game, which is lacking rules, is operating for the most part. However, the button which allows the players to make moves is only operating once. As far as i can tell it is probably a problem with the recreation of the button in the move() method. Any advice on this code at all is appreciated!

Hi, I am not entirely sure what I am doing wrong here, and I have been looking at this for ages, so apologies in advance if I have become so bleary eyed I can't see something simple. I use php to create buttons based on values pulled for a table. The problem I have is when you click on the first button the javascript function works great, when you click on the next button you get the same output even though it should be different results. I am working in ff and I can see on my firebug console that the javascript function is being called, but it is not passing the new value of the second or third button, it just keeps repassing the value of the first button. So not entirely sure where I am going wrong here. My page is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc2(File,ID,Msg){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try{ xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } var params=Msg; xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Pragma", "Cache-Control:no-cache"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); } </script> <head> <body> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","user","password"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("mydb", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT theme FROM goods WHERE category='{$_POST['category']}' ORDER BY theme DESC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo '<input type="text" class="hidden" name="theme" id="theme" value="' . $row['theme'] . '" ><input type="button" class="button3" name="product" id="product" value="' . $row['product'] . '" onClick="loadXMLDoc2(\'getShow.php\',\'txtHint\',\'theme=\'+encodeURI(document.getElementById(\'rtheme\').value))" > '; } echo '<br /><br /> <div id="txtHint"><div> <br /> <br />'; mysql_close($con); ?> And getShow.php produces a table with a list of product images, names and prices, based on theme. So basically not sure where I am going wrong here? i got javascripts button : Code: <input type="button" value="select" onClick="document.getElementById('input').select()" /> how can i transform "button" to image button (gif) I have 4 rows in a table. Each row consist of 4 radio buttons. Each radio button per row has different values in it but has the same name (group) ex: <input type="radio" name="a" value="1"> <input type="radio" name="a" value="2"> <input type="radio" name="a" value="3"> <input type="radio" name="a" value="4"> <input type="radio" name="b" value="1"> <input type="radio" name="b" value="2"> <input type="radio" name="b" value="3"> <input type="radio" name="b" value="4"> and so on.. If I click radio button A with value 2, I want to output the total at the bottom as "2".. Also, if I click radio button B with value 3, I want to output the total of A and B as 5 and so on.. How can I automatically calculate the answer based on which radio button was click? update: I got my answer from this site: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...s-using-jquery Hello guys i really need your help please. i need a code that when a button or image is clicked then a div's width and height are changed. Ive managed to get a few codes that does this, but the real problem is that, the contents of the div is an embedded flash file and i thought that by setting the flash width and height to 100% then the flash would fit to the new size of the div, but it just didnt work. I need a code that when a button is clicked then the div's and the flash's width and height are changed. please have a look at the temp website (http://latinunit.net/temp/ , you will understand where im coming from. on the right hand side i have a flash chat in a div , div is controled by a script that allows it to follow the scrollers up and down. I know there are alot of experienced coders out there and I'm eager to learn... help would be appreciated! I have created most of the code however I would like to expand my options. Basically the code changes an image when a user makes a selection from a drop down menu. <head> Code: <script language="javascript"> function linkrotate(which){ var mylinks=new Array() mylinks[0]="http://www.#.com" mylinks[1]="http://www.#.com" mylinks[2]="http://www.#.com" window.location=mylinks[which] } function showimage() { if (!document.images) return document.images.pictures.src= document.mygallery.picture.options[document.mygallery.picture.selectedIndex].value } //--> </script> <body> Code: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="100%"><form name="mygallery"><p><select name="picture" size="1" onChange="showimage()"> <option selected value="image1.jpg">Option 1</option> <option value="image2.jpg">Option 2</option> <option value="image3.jpg">Option 3</option> </select></p> </form> What I would like to do it have two drop down menus that work together instead of one - providing a more accurate image for the user. Right now the user has one option to select from the drop down menu in which the image is changed. I'd like to be able to have the user choose from two drop down menus. For example: Drop down menu number 1 Shoe Color: Black or Red Drop down menu number 2 Shoelace Color: White or Brown Where a user chooses 'Black' from the first option then the images will only show a black shoe with white laces or brown laces (based on their choice from the next drop-down menu. Furthermore, where a user chooses 'Red' from the first option then image from the next choice will only show a red shoe with white or brown laces. I have a script that works good, but it says undefined underneath, this must mean an error. But I cant work out how to get rid of it. This is the html it is a transistional XHTML doc type. Hi there, I have been told I need to use escape() and unescape() to fix some issues I am having with my Javascript in IE7. I've been fiddling with it for two days now and can't seem to get it working correctly. It would be amazing if someone on here could spare a few minutes to tell me what my code should look like. It already works fine as is in new browsers, but IE7 is the problem! Here's my Javascript (I've removed my efforts at escaping and unescaping, and also blanked my Facebook app ID out with 123456789): Code: <script> FB.init({ appId:'123456789', cookie:true, status:true, xfbml:true }); function shareProduct(captionvar, descriptionvar, picturevar) { FB.ui({ method: 'feed', link: 'http://www.facebook.com/rjthompsonmusic?sk=app_123456789', name: 'RJ Thompson Official Facebook Store', caption: captionvar, description: descriptionvar, pictu picturevar }); } </script> And here is how it is being called: Code: <a href="#" onclick="shareProduct('Illogical Life - Digital Download', 'RJ Thompsons 2006 album "Illogical Life" available for Digital Download from his Facebook Store. Includes the single "Green Eyed", live favourites "Jester" and "Piano Song", and 8 more original tracks. Only £7.49!', 'http://www.rjthompsonmusic.com/facebook/illogical_life_270.jpg')"> Facebook</a> Would really appreciate any help with this. Many thanks, Chris |
