JavaScript - Total Score From Selected Drop Down Values
total score from selected drop down values
Hello friends the following is the code i am using without success Code: var numQuestn = 6; function GetScore(form) { var score = 0; var item = 0; var currQuestn = 0; for (i = 0; i < numQuestn; i++) { item = form.q1.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q1.options[item].value); } item = form.q2.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q2.options[item].value) } item = form.q3.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q3.options[item].value) } item = form.q4.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q4.options[item].value) } item = form.q5.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q5.options[item].value) } item = form.q6.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q6.options[item].value) } } form.total.value = score } i am not able to find the error Please help me Thank you in advance Similar TutorialsI have the perfect form for a client - but its missing one thing. She sells hair clips in various colors. A user can select a hair clip color and quantity quite easily (as seen in the code below). My issue is that she wants to be able to give the user a 'special price' based on the quantity ordered by the user. Contrary to simply adding the default price of $7 over and over again based on the quantity selected. To Reiterate The way I want it to work... 1 clip is $7 2 clips are $12 3 clips are $22 5 clips are....etc. ...however, with the way that the javascript is set up now I'm only able to select one default price. This means that whatever quantity is selected -- it's simply multiplied by the number 7 to provide a total. 1 clip is $7 2 clips are $14 3 clips are $21 5 clips are....etc. If some kind soul can give their advice or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Everything works fine, when all the dropdown select value has it's own value and does not correspond to each other. Eg : Cake Type : Round $4.00 Cake Color : Red $3.00 Cake Filling : Raspberry $4.00 So total is $11.00 The problem comes when you want to add Cake Layers and the price of Cake Color changes based on No of Layers - 1 Layer , 2 Layer and so on. Eg: Cake Layer : Layer 1 $5.00 | Layer 2 $2.50 | Layer 3 $2.50 (for color Orange) Cake Layer : Layer 1 $7.00 | Layer 2 $4.00 | Layer 3 $4.00 (for color Red) Do i have to use if and else conditional statement for every possibility? I am just a beginner. Attached below is the example code i have so far.. Code: var filling_prices= new Array(); filling_prices["None"]=0; filling_prices["Lemon"]=5; filling_prices["Custard"]=5; filling_prices["Fudge"]=7; filling_prices["Mocha"]=8; filling_prices["Raspberry"]=10; function getFillingPrice() { var cakeFillingPrice=0; //Get a reference to the form id="cakeform" var theForm = document.forms["cakeform"]; //Get a reference to the select id="filling" var selectedFilling = theForm.elements["filling"]; //set cakeFilling Price equal to value user chose //For example filling_prices["Lemon".value] would be equal to 5 cakeFillingPrice = filling_prices[selectedFilling.value]; //finally we return cakeFillingPrice return cakeFillingPrice; } This is for the calculation Code: function calculateTotal() { //Here we get the total price by calling our function //Each function returns a number so by calling them we add the values they return together var cakePrice = getCakeSizePrice() + getFillingPrice() + candlesPrice(); //display the result var divobj = document.getElementById('totalPrice'); divobj.style.display='block'; divobj.innerHTML = "Total Price For the Cake $"+cakePrice; } Some sample of the HTML Code: <select id="filling" name='filling' onchange="calculateTotal()"> <option value="None">Select Filling</option> <option value="Lemon">Lemon($5)</option> <option value="Custard">Custard($5)</option> <option value="Fudge">Fudge($7)</option> <option value="Mocha">Mocha($8)</option> <option value="Raspberry">Raspberry($10)</option> Is there a better way of simplifying this calculation method ? How do i change the price of form values based on selected values on previous dropdown. Thanks in advance. Need help please asap. It might be simple but i couldn't work out the script. help! ---------------- Formfield.anzahl1 = number entered by customer Formfield.Price1 = Ergebnisfeld1 e.g. Anzahl1= 1 Price = 270 *if Anzahl1 = 2 then Price = 270*2 I need to do this for two form option. 2nd field would be as follows Formfield.Anzahl2= number entered by customer Formfield.Price2 = Ergebnisfeld2 Then Formfield.Total = Ergebnisfeld1 + Ergebnisfeld2 ------------------- How can I convert these above to javascript? The contents of the dropdown lists are dependent on each other and are populated via php scripts which are called each time a selection is made or changed by the user. When the view results button is clicked in the form I need the user to be directed to a specific page based on the selections they have made. The url of the page they need to be directed to is really based on what has been chosen in the first dropdown. The subsequent dropdowns form variables that I need to be sent to the page so that the data the user sees on that page is relevant. ie if the user has chosen bikes then a specific manufacturer then a specific price range the page they will be sent to will be the bike.php page with all the manufacturer specific bikes in their chosen price range visible. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about doing this please? I had thought about using the php header script along with an if statement but how do I then go about getting the variables sent to the page to be recognised? Would I be better looking at the window.location in js to do this? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated on this. I can post the code for the form if that makes any difference. Hey javascript newbie, Im trying to figure out how to add different radio if its selected or not example: Radio_Button1 value="5": Selected Radio_Button2 value="15": Not Selected Radio_Button3 value="25": Selected Radio_Button4 value="35": Selected var addingitup = ??? and im lost???? Hello everybody, I have a javascript adding new options to a drop down select menu getting the information from the database. The code is as written below: Code: function setOptions1() { var selbox2 = document.egitimgiris.alttipID; selbox2.options.length = 0; selbox2.options[selbox2.options.length] = new Option('Option1','22') selbox2.options[selbox2.options.length] = new Option('Option2','23') selbox2.options[selbox2.options.length] = new Option('Option3','24') selbox2.options[selbox2.options.length] = new Option('Option4','25') } I want one of them to be added as selected. I will put an "if" check and if it the value of the option and the value in the database is equal I want that option to be added as "selected". Is this possible? If yes, how? Please help. Thanks and regards telmessos Hi everyone, The website that I am trying to create has a couple of drop down lists. I want a variable to store the value (text) of the data field selected from a particular drop down list. Let me explain this with an example: If a dropdown list has data fields like (aa, bb, cc, dd, ee) and if a user selects the option 'bb' , then there should be a variable that stores the text 'bb'. I am using the following piece of code. Can you please take a look at it to tell whether I am doing the correct thing or not. Firstly, the HTML code that generates the drop down list on the page. This works fine. Code: <b> Student's Profession</b> <FORM NAME="Profession"> <SELECT NAME="Student’s Profession"> <OPTION VALUE="k1">Select <OPTION VALUE="k2">Engineer <OPTION VALUE="k3">Doctor <OPTION VALUE="k4">IAS <OPTION VALUE="k5">Lawyer <OPTION VALUE="k6">CA <OPTION VALUE="k7">IAS <OPTION VALUE="k8">Engineer + MBA <OPTION VALUE="k9">Family Business <OPTION VALUE="k10">None of the above </SELECT> </FORM> [Then I have declared a function in JavaScript that stores the value of the data field selected in a particular variable (sel_student_profession). I am not sure about the parameter. Should I simply write 'dropdown' or write the form name? (Profession). Or something else? Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function Selected_profession(dropdown) { var myindex = Profession.selectedindex; var sel_student_profession = Profession.options[myindex].text; return sel_student_profession; } </script> And then at the end of it, if I want to know the value (text) of the data field selected, I call the function. Right now, I am calling the function as follows: Code: var student_profession = Selected_profession(Profession); So, if the user selects "engineer" from the drop down list, student_profession should store "engineer". Am I doing it the correct way? If not, I would highly appreciate any sort of help. Thanks a lot! Hi, all New here and hoping you can help. I'm trying to figure out the correct event handler and syntax (and whether or not to use a header script) to pass the selected value from a dropdown menu back to PHP. In a nutshell, here's my process: PHP creates an HTML form containing a drop down menu populated with names and email addresses, email being the option value. This is followed by an input box where the user will select a name from the list, enter an amount into the input box, then submit the whole form with an image button, where this data will be passed back to PHP for insertion into the database. The amount portion works beautifully. I can hit the database every time. On the other hand, I cannot get the name/email selection from the drop down menu to be recognized no matter what I do. It tells me nothing is selected even when it is. Well, that isn't entirely true - the closest I've come was apparently screwing up a portion of the PHP code which generates the form and somehow received a Forbidden error when the form tried to link me to the email address. I've never been so happy to be forbidden - or receive an error - in my life. LOL At least that meant I was finally being heard, even if not in the way I want or need. I've tried onChange, onClick, onSubmit and can't seem to hit the right combo. Here's a look at one scenario of many that I've tried. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could steer me in the right direction! PHP to create form: PHP Code: $data = array('form' => draw_form('customer_dropdown', LINK_TO_ACTION, 'page=' . $_GET['page'] . '&action=newrecord'). html_entity_decode(draw_drop_down_menu('customers_email_address',$customers, $_GET['customer'], 'onSubmit="return dropdown(this.customers_email_address)"') .'<input type="hidden" name="selected_entry" value=""><input type="submit" value="" style="display: none;">')); HTML & Java: Code: <html> <head> <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> <!-- function dropdown(mySel) { var myWin, myVal; myVal = mySel.options[mySel.selectedIndex].value; if(myVal) { if(mySel.form.target)myWin = parent[mySel.form.target]; else myWin = window; if (! myWin) return true; myWin.location = myVal; } return false; } //--> </SCRIPT> </head> <form name="customer_dropdown" action="http://site.com/action.php?page=1&action=newrecord" method="post"><input type="hidden" name="securityToken" value="randomSequence01234567890"> <select rel="dropdown" name="customers_email_address" onSubmit="return dropdown(this.customers_email_address)"> <option value="" selected="selected">Please Select</option> <option value="email1@email.com">Lastname, Firstname (email1@email.com)</option> <option value="email2@email.com">Lastname, Firstname (email2@email.com)</option> <option value="email3@email.com">Lastname, Firstname (email3@email.com)</option> <option value="email4@email.com">Lastname, Firstname (email4@email.com)</option> <option value="email5@email.com">Lastname, Firstname (email5@email.com)</option> </select> <input type="hidden" name="selected_entry" value=""><input type="submit" value="" style="display: none;"> <table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <td align="left" class="formContent"><br>Enter Amount:<br><input type="text" name="amount" value="0.00" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="center" class="formContent"><br><input type="image" src="http://site.com/images/buttons/button_insert.gif" border="0" alt="Insert" title=" Insert "> <a href="http://site.com/action.php?page=1&gid="><img src="http://site.com/images/buttons/button_cancel.gif" border="0" alt="Cancel" title=" Cancel "></a></td> </tr> </table> </form> </html> Good day! I am new in javascript function. I have Javascript code for auto calculate here is the code: Code: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function autocalearn(oText) { if (isNaN(oText.value)) //filter input { alert('Numbers only!'); oText.value = ''; } var field, val, oForm = oText.form, TotEarn = a = 0; for (a; a < arguments.length; ++a) //loop through text elements { field = arguments[a]; val = parseFloat(field.value); //get value if (!isNaN(val)) //number? { TotEarn += val; //accumulate } } var tot=Number(TotEarn) + Number(document.getElementById('Amount').value); oForm.TotEarn.value = tot.toFixed(2); //oForm.TotEarn.value = TotEarn.toFixed(2); //out } </script> <!--Total Deduction AutoCompute--> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function autocalded(oText) { if (isNaN(oText.value)) //filter input { alert('Numbers only!'); oText.value = ''; } var field, val, oForm = oText.form, TotalDed = a = 0; for (a; a < arguments.length; ++a) //loop through text elements { field = arguments[a]; val = parseFloat(field.value); //get value if (!isNaN(val)) //number? { TotalDed += val; //accumulate } } //oForm.TotalDed.value = TotalDed.toFixed(2); //out var totded=Number(TotalDed) + Number(document.getElementById('Deductions').value); oForm.TotalDed.value = totded.toFixed(2); } </script> and now my problem is...I have a textbox for the overall total, and i want it automatic subtract the total earn and total deduction.. I will attach my codes for further understanding. Thank you in advance Hi guys, i'm trying to develop a code for my sister, i would like to use javascript to finish off the following task: 1. I want to be able to select marks from 0 to 30, from 5 drop down boxes. 2. and as marks are selected, it should upgrade the total. 3. and then show me the total marks when finished. i've got up to creating the drop down boxes, now it's just adding the values once selected. Thanks! anyhelp would be welcome I have the following code working with the checkbox options but once I added a drop down menu with values, it doesn't calculate it. I've done some different things to try to add the drop down to the function but nothing would work that I've tried so far. I have it setup so when a box is unchecked, that option is taken off the price, the drop down should do the same to switch between the options price. Thanks for the help! Code: <script language="javascript"> totalOptions = 0; function calculateTotalOptions(thisCheckbox){ if (thisCheckbox.checked) { totalOptions += parseFloat(thisCheckbox.value); } else { totalOptions -= parseFloat(thisCheckbox.value); } document.getElementById("totalOptions").value = "$" + totalOptions + ".00"; } </script> <form name="Options" > <table width="765" border="0" cellspacing="0" I've created a java servlet in eclipse to connect and execute query to the database. In aptana, i'm using js file and html file. i am able to connect to the servlet, process the data (split it) and store in an array to display the retrieved data on screen. But now i am facing problems to put the retrieved data (array) into a drop down list for selection. can i do it in a js file? thanks =) Hi, I doing my project in Netbeans, and I have this .java page, that sets and gets a html form where there are textboxes and drop down lists, as far as I know, although getElementById() is a javascript code, it can be used in my .java page, but I do not know how to implement it. What I'm supposed to do is to get the values from the drop down list and save them to a database that I've already have. Code: HtmlPage page = null; page.getElementById(id); but because I do not know what should the id be since the .java page is not a jsp page and the drop down list values cannot be retrieved directly. Need help here, thanks. Hi there. This is my first thread. I'm completely new to javascript. I want to use dreamweaver with javascript to do a litter project in which I want to move value "Saleman" from drop-menu 1 and value "Billy" from drop-down 2 to a list box. The result should be as follows: dropdown 1 Manager Salesman (to be selected) Cleaner dropdown 2 Billy (to be selected) Susan Ivan --- [Add button] Listbox Salesman - Billy Thank you for your help.
