JavaScript - Need Help With Small Change On Cufon Script
Hi,
I am looking for some help with a change I need on a Cufon script for a template I purchased to build a website. In this script its converting all the text to Uppercase. I know pretty much zero about Javascript, so i do not know how to edit it out. I require the script for other parts of the site so I can not just delete it. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance! Attached is the entire code named Cufon-yui.js Code: var Cufon=(function(){var m=function(){return m.replace.apply(null,arguments)};var x=m.DOM={ready:(function(){var someone can help Basically this is a menu I have which I'm using in wordpress. Wordpress puts 'current' on the current page, so the menu knows which list item to keep highlighted. On one of my pages however, it is hidden from the menu, therefor NONE of the list items contain 'current'. It makes the menu look bad when you are on this page. What I'd like to do to this code, is add a very small feature that checks if none of the list items have 'current'. If none of the li's contain current, then just apply it to li:first-child (which is my home button). I'm not familiar with javascript, but I feel that would be doable from just the script that I'm pasting below. Also, I'm not quite sure how to put it into a .js external page and then call the specific function as many times as I want in the body and have it all work. Please advise on this issue (i.e. Putting the code in an external file and then calling the fadeIn() function as many times as I want in the body). Thanks. BTW, the concept is a fixed imaged with the js fading another image over the top of that first image in and out over and over again. All the images and application of the js will be the same for all occurrences on the page (don't know if that's relevant to the solution I'm asking for but throwing it in there just in case). Here is the code: Code: <html> <body style="background:#000;"> <div style="float:left;"> <img style="float:left;" id="me" src="fade_arrow2.png"/> <img style="float:left;margin-left:-44px;" src="fade_arrow1.png"/> <script type="text/javascript"> var element = document.getElementById('me') ; var duration = 4000; /* 1000 millisecond fade = 1 sec */ var steps = 20; /* number of opacity intervals */ var delay = 5000; /* 5 sec delay before fading out */ /* set the opacity of the element (between 0.0 and 1.0) */ function setOpacity(level) { element.style.opacity = level; element.style.MozOpacity = level; element.style.KhtmlOpacity = level; element.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=" + (level * 100) + ");"; } function fadeIn(){ for (i = 0; i <= 1; i += (1 / steps)) { setTimeout("setOpacity(" + i + ")", i * duration); } setTimeout("fadeOut()", delay); } function fadeOut() { for (i = 0; i <= 1; i += (1 / steps)) { setTimeout("setOpacity(" + (1 - i) + ")", i * duration); } setTimeout("fadeIn()", duration); } /* start the effect */ fadeIn(); </script> </div> </body> </html> Hello, I have two simle part of code : 1. I want to replace the text in the navigation bar I have built. I tried to use this to no avail.. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> Cufon.replace('#menu li a'); </script> Code: .snow #menu{ border:none; border:0px; margin:0px; margin-top: 20px; padding:0px; font-size:16px; font-weight:bold; float: right; } .snow #menu ul{ height:38px; list-style:none; margin:0; padding:0; } .snow #menu li{ float:left; padding:0px; } .snow #menu li a{ color:#2eb8e7; display:block; font-weight:normal; line-height:38px; margin:0px; padding:0px 10px; text-align:center; text-decoration:none; } .snow #menu li a:hover, .snow #menu ul li:hover a{ color:#ffffff; text-decoration:none; } .snow #menu p { clear: left; } Hi I was just wondering if you could use two different fonts on the same page with CUFON, as you can register a font with the font files but if you register two fonts how how you choose between the fonts. For example if you do this Code: <script src="fonts/cufon.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="fonts/font1.font.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="fonts/font2.font.js" type="text/javascript"></script> But when I use the built-in CUFON replace it only picks the last font registered. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> Cufon.replace('#div1'); // Will Replace all text in the div1 with font2 Cufon.replace('#div2'); // Will Replace all text in the div2 with font2 </script> <div id="div1">Font 1</div> <div id="div2">Font 2</div> If anyone knows how to do this please helo, thank you. EDIT: I found how you do it you need to use a selector like this. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> Cufon.replace('div1',{fontFamily:'font1'}); Cufon.replace('div2',{fontFamily:'font2'}); </script> Hi there, My last 2 little annoyances are related to my Cufon main menu. I could use some assistance. http://www.lyricoperala.org/index3.html Sub-menu items are spaced too far apart. I've tried to set the top padding to 0px, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. Finally, the last item is a CSS issue, but I'll mention it here just in case you, my code savior, happen to know the answer. I guess it's a z-index thing, but I haven't mastered this yet. My sub-sub-menu items are appearing UNDER the ticket image. I'd prefer that they show up above it, obviously. Thanks so much in advance! Best forum helpers EVER here! ~Laura Hey Guys, I've recently added Cufon to a site and generated a font that includes the WordPress Punctuation option. http://bit.ly/akbrXc However when I try and use an apostrophe in the text it does not appear on the page. As a potential fix, I tried inserting ' into the HTML tab of the page via the WP dashboard. It works in Firefox. Cufon displays an apostrophe. However, in Internet Explorer it displays the code and not the apostrophe. Any suggestions regarding what I should do to fix this problem? Thanks! The title says it all really. An example of the cufon breaking is when I add a product to my cart, example here http://joemeetsjoy.com/products When you click buy now then click ok on the pop up box the cufon breaks. It also happens if you go the the shopping cart and choose a shipping option. Any ideas why this happens. Thanks Hi, I'm a javascript idiot, and I need a script to change two styles in two different elements based on the status of 2 radio buttons. Basically, I have 2 forms...#formTest and #formTest2. When radio button "search" value "1" is selected I need the display style for #formTest to be "block" and the display style for #formTest2 to be "none". When radio buton "search" value "2" is selected, I need the opposite to occur. (#formTest display style ="none" and #formTest2 display style="block") I have very buggy code which produces similar changes, but does other bad things, so won't work. Basically, the first selection change displays both forms, which after the first selection change works fine, unless you click anywhere else, in which case both forms are not displayed. I know I should use a function in the head and call it with an onselect or onclick event. I just don't know how. I appreciate any help anyone can offer me! My ugly (nonfunctional code is below) Search by Make: <input name="search" type="radio" value="1" onclick="document.getElementById('testForm').style.display='block';" onchange="document.getElementById('testForm').style.display='none';" checked="checked" /> <br /> Search by Category: <input name="search" type="radio" value="2" onclick="document.getElementById('testForm2').style.display='block';" onchange="document.getElementById('testForm2').style.display='none';" /> Thanks Again I don't know if this is possible, so I figured I'd ask a few gurus. I know it is possible to have an image change at a certain time of day, and it's also possible to have an image change by day, but is there a script to do both? What I want to do is have the first image show from 8am cst to 6pm cst mon-fri, it's our open sign for live chat. The the rest of the time have the second image. Is this possible with any type of script? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated! I can`t play video from the internet full screen. I keep getting this message that I need to change the Java script setting to re size window. I tried a lot of things and still not working. How can I change the settings?
Hi all, I have a free script I have downloaded and I can't figure out how to edit it so that I can change the color of the text to whatever I want it to be and also so that the length of the scrolling text (I am not sure if scrolling is the right term) can be changed. For some reason the text does not go all the way to the end of the page on the right it stops quite a way before. Here is the code: Code: <script language="JavaScript1.2"> <!-- /* Typing Scroller For full source code, usage terms, and 100s more scripts, visit http://dynamicdrive.com */ //Secify scroller contents var line=new Array() line[1]="Testing testing one to three and you can test some more." line[2]="Always testing always testing" line[3]="Trying to test some more and some more again" line[4]="second to last bit of testing." line[5]="Testing text that is just testing one more time" //Specify font size for scoller var ts_fontsize="13px" //--Don't edit below this line var longestmessage=1 for (i=2;i<line.length;i++){ if (line[i].length>line[longestmessage].length) longestmessage=i } //Auto set scroller width var tscroller_width=line[longestmessage].length lines=line.length-1 //--Number of lines //if IE 4+ or NS6 if (document.all||document.getElementById){ document.write('<form name="bannerform">') document.write('<input type="text" name="banner" size="'+tscroller_width+'"') document.write(' style="background-color: '+document.bgColor+'; color: '+document.body.text+'; font-family: arial; font-size: '+ts_fontsize+'; font-weight:bold; border: medium none" onfocus="blur()">') document.write('</form>') } temp="" nextchar=-1; nextline=1; cursor="" function animate(){ if (temp==line[nextline] & temp.length==line[nextline].length & nextline!=lines){ nextline++; nextchar=-1; document.bannerform.banner.value=temp; temp=""; setTimeout("nextstep()",1000)} else if (nextline==lines & temp==line[nextline] & temp.length==line[nextline].length){ nextline=1; nextchar=-1; document.bannerform.banner.value=temp; temp=""; setTimeout("nextstep()",1000)} else{ nextstep()}} function nextstep(){ if (cursor==""){ cursor=""} else if (cursor==""){ cursor=""} else if (cursor==""){ cursor=""} else if (cursor==""){ cursor=""} nextchar++; temp+=line[nextline].charAt(nextchar); document.bannerform.banner.value=temp+cursor setTimeout("animate()",25)} //if IE 4+ or NS6 if (document.all||document.getElementById) window.onload=animate // --> </script> I have been trying to figure this out for about 2 hours but since I am a 100% novice with javascript I have not got very far. For example one boy wearing the blue color t-shirts, i want to change the blue color into red color by using the color code instead of chaging the image into new one. Whether is this possible to do in javascript ? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Suresh.k I doubt this is possible, but I have no idea what actually happens when a page loads, so I thought I would give it a shot... if a js file that is loaded externally has parameters, is it possible to turn those parameters into variables, giving the user the option to select the variable's value after the page has loaded? maybe a concrete example would be better... in google maps, the api is loaded like this: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> but if you wanted to specify that you want the api to function in Spanish, you load it like this: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false&language=es"></script> and that language=es is the one that I want to change. But I can't seem to make it into a variable on page load, like this: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var lang="es"; </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false&language=lang"></script> much less make it changeable once the page has loaded. I have a feeling that this is a really dumb question, but can it be done without reloading the entire page? Hi everyone, I'm curious if this is something simple. I'm working on a wordpress site using a plugin that is based off of the code from javascript kit called "highlighter scroller script". The plugin js is almost identical: http://javascriptkit.com/script/cut57.shtml What is causing it to wipe from left to right? I'm racking my brains trying to figure it out (and googling unsuccessfully it seems). All I'm trying to do is make it wipe instead from right to left. I'm sure it's something simple, but I don't know which variable to change. Can anyone point me in the right direction? THANKS! |
