JavaScript - Default Size Of Window.open Popup
Does anyone know the default size of a popup window when using window.open()?
Thanks Similar TutorialsIn my page i have to open the popup window when i do on click. one place it is opening correctly. but in another case not able to open. Can you give me the solution on this one. In the following html code i am able to open the popup window. Code: <td colspan=2 width=90% background="graphics/barbkg.gif" class=fcCalMonthDay_gren height=16 align=center> <div id=fcContentLegned style="display:block;"><a href=# onClick="javascript:OZ_openBrWin4('ozLOVNoteCenter.jsp')">Daily Notes Center</a></div> </td> but in the following javascript method not able to open the popup window when i do onclick. Code: var currContentView = 'calDailyNotes'; // calOrg, calPsn, calOpp function selectContent( curr ) { if ( fcCalRefreshInProgress == 1 ) return; currContentView = curr; document.getElementById('calDailyNotes').className=''; document.getElementById('calOrg').className=''; document.getElementById('calPsn').className=''; document.getElementById(curr).className='genTblContentCellCal'; if ( curr == 'calDailyNotes' ) document.getElementById('fcContentLegned').innerHTML = '<a href="#" onClick="javascript:OZ_openBrWin4(ozLOVNoteCenter.jsp)">Daily Notes Center</a>'; // Here i am not able to open the popup window. else if ( curr == 'calOrg' ) document.getElementById('fcContentLegned').innerHTML = 'Recent Organizations'; else if ( curr == 'calPsn' ) document.getElementById('fcContentLegned').innerHTML = 'Recent Contacts'; fc_refresh_content_view('<%=submitUrlNotes%>&refreshview=Y&view='+curr, '<%=ozDay.renderDayKey(_ahsPage)%>' ); } thanks in advance... Let me start of by saying that I'm a designer, not a programmer so I'll apologize in advance for having very little knowledge of javascript. I found a free script for a auto-advancing slideshow that allows you to give each image in the slideshow a unique link. My problem is that when you click on one of the pictures the link opens in a new window instead of loading in the default browser window. I have tried to search google for an answer but my lack of javascript knowledge has left me scratching my chin. Here's the code in the head of my page: Code: <script language="JavaScript1.1"> <!-- /* JavaScript Image slideshow */ var slideimages=new Array() var slidelinks=new Array() function slideshowimages(){ for (i=0;i<slideshowimages.arguments.length;i++){ slideimages[i]=new Image() slideimages[i].src=slideshowimages.arguments[i] } } function slideshowlinks(){ for (i=0;i<slideshowlinks.arguments.length;i++) slidelinks[i]=slideshowlinks.arguments[i] } function gotoshow(){ if (!window.winslide||winslide.closed) winslide=window.open(slidelinks[whichlink]) else winslide.location=slidelinks[whichlink] winslide.focus() } //--> </script> and here's the Body code: Code: <script> <!-- //configure the paths of the images, plus corresponding target links slideshowimages("images/services/3d_meter.jpg", "images/services/3d_prototype.jpg", "images/services/3d_stage_renderings.jpg", "images/services/atsite.jpg", "images/services/netstar.jpg", "images/services/photo_manipulation.jpg", "images/services/powerpoint.jpg") slideshowlinks("/", "/", "/", "/", "/", "/", "/") //configure the speed of the slideshow, in miliseconds var slideshowspeed=8000 var whichlink=0 var whichimage=0 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=slideimages[whichimage].src whichlink=whichimage if (whichimage<slideimages.length-1) whichimage++ else whichimage=0 setTimeout("slideit()",slideshowspeed) } slideit() //--> </script> fooling around with it, I think I have determined that my problem is the window.open in the function gotoshow, but again, I'm a designer who has little knowledge of how this actually works. If it helps, here is a link to my site where I have the slideshow, http://gravescreativedesign.com/services.html All of the images link to the index page for my site at the moment for testing purposes, but these images will eventually link to different urls within my portfolio section of my website. I have a js confirmation function: PHP Code: function r_u_sure(message, url){ if(confirm(message)) location.href = url; } if I were calling this function with a regular href, I would use the following: PHP Code: <a HREF="javascript:r_u_sure('Are Sure You want to Delete or Modify Car Information?!','www.somewhere.com)"><a/> however my html link which begins the deletion process of a records opens a popup box that performs. the link is the following: PHP Code: <a onmouseover='this.style.cursor=\"pointer\" ' onfocus='this.blur();' onclick="document.getElementById('PopUp10').style.display = 'block' \"><span><img border='0' src='../images/editcar_info.png' width='40' height='40' title='Delete or Modify Car'></span></a> Any thoughts on how can conbine both so that onclick of the link, first, the confirm box appears, if "ok" is selected, the pop up box will open, else the dialogue box closes and nothing happens. Mossa-- I hope someone can help me with this or point towards a published code. I have a PHP page which displays a list summarising database records. When users click on an icon, another window pops up with further information from the record. They can keep clicking through the list, showing each new record in the SAME popup window. Obviously when the popup first appears, the window must be sized to fit within the user's screen and also to one side so that people can still see the main list. But if they resize the window (maybe because they have a very large screen), I want each new display of the window to retain the user's new size. To summarise, the first time the window opens, its dimensions are set to a default size (based on screen size), but from then on it retains the user-defined size. Thanks in advance. Hello guys was just wondering if you might be able to help me out im looking for a javascript code that will open a window in 100% width, no toolbars, no menubars, no statusbar, nothing but the page conent basically but for it to all be centered on the screen vertically I have looked up on line and found what I thought should work but dose not seem to open a new widow of a specific size when I click on my image. <script type="text/javascript">function openNewWindow() { window.open("http://www.microsoft.com", "_blank", "height=340px width=240px"); }</script><img src="../../Images/photo_gallery/Models/ashly-model.jpg" alt="Model-Ashly" width="200" height="171" class="boarder" longdesc="../../Images/photo_gallery/Models/ashly-model.jpg" /> The above code is what I thought would work but dose not seem to when I try the page out. What am I doing wrong? Thanks all. Hi, I want to restrict opening my popup window if it is already opened. For simple scenario, it is quite possible to do but in my case -- 1) When parent page is opening popup window, it is getting refreshed (required from client for some reason). 2) Once submit button is clicked from popup window, again parent page is getting refreshed (again its a requirement from client side). With these 2 conditions, I lost my saved value from variable and hence new popup is keep coming when the action is same. Currently I am using below code to open popup [CODE] function OpenWindow() { if(winPop && !winPop.closed) { alert("Popup is already open"); } else { winPop = window.open('MyPopupPage.aspx'); } } [CODE] Please help me to get rid of this problem. Thanks in advance. - Bhasker I have the code below in my popup window which currently brings up a blank page in the background as the main window. Instead I want the popup to come up but the original page I left is in the background as the main window. Does anyone know how I can do that with the code I currently have. Code: <html> <head> <title>JavaScript Popup Example 3</title> </head> <script type="text/javascript"> function poponload() { testwindow = window.open("", "mywindow", "location=0,status=0,scrollbars=0,width=350,height=400"); testwindow.moveTo(0, 0); testwindow.document.write('<h1>Get outta here!</h1><a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="window.opener.history.go(-1); self.close();">Parent back button</a>'); testwindow.focus(); } </script> <body onload="javascript: poponload()"> </body> </html> window.open() doesn't open an entirely new window in FF3.6, just a new tab suggestions? Edit: Yeah, ok, so if i specify a size smaller than the current standard window, it'll be forced to open a new window. but what if i want a new standard sized window to open entirely? and in any case, i wan t amore direct solution where possible, thanks. Hi I have copied and adapted the commonly found switchmenu script available widely on the web from Dynamic Drive. I understand that it might be dated now, but I am limited as to what I can do. Specifically, this code has to sit in a webpart within Sharepoint 2003, so no referencing external CSS or js files. The code below functions as desired, and opens the items one at a time, closing the previous before opening the next. However, what I want to do is have the first item default to being open. Any pointers? putting a onload in a body tag isn't an option (this code is popping into a webpart in sharepoint, so no access to the body tag). I have a parent page that opens a popup on click that launches a sidebar navigation on the right of the screen and resizes the parent page. What I am wanting to do is create a second popup (approx 250px high) that opens below the navigation (which is only around 600px high) but I have noticed that even when you have no status bar in the popup windows, they can still end up overlapping because of additional tools or plugins that the viewer has in their browser. Is there any way to get the popups to butt up against each other instead of overlapping? More like a relative popup? Any assistance would be appreciated. :-) I am using a window.open to trigger a mailto: command. I don't want the window to stay open so I try to close it right after. The default email client launches correctly, but the window stays open and I get the following Javascript error: Unable to get value of the property 'close': object is null or undefined Code: Code: var win = window.open(mailto_link,'emailWindow'); win.close(); I do write some php, but have not much idea about JavaScript. I use window.open to open 10 pages simultaneously. I prefer to open them with a time delay from each other to put less load on the target server. This is my code with no delay. (I played around with setTimeout but can't get it to work.) PHP Code: <a href='http://www.".$new[9]."' onclick="window.open('http://www.".$new[0]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[1]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[2]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[3]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[4]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[5]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[6]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[7]."/'); window.open('http://www.".$new[8]."/')\" target='new300/'>Open 10</a> I guess this case applies to both popup windows opened by window.open() and by showModalWindow(). I have two buttons in popup window, "Cancel" and "Save". If the user clicks either button, there is a "process" at parent window before close() at popup being called. The problem now is, if the user click the "X" sign at top right corner of that popup window, how to trigger the "process"? I think I can do nothing in popup window since the closure is unexpected programmatically. Can I put some kind of listener in parent window to detect if popup is closed? I struck to open a popup window after submit the page. I used the following logic . but it's not open. I have the need to create a popup after a delay. The problem I'm getting is that the parent page is refreshing automatically from the action of creating the popup. I don't want the parent page to refresh! This is what I currently have: Code: $popupScript = ' <script language="JavaScript"> setTimeout("window.open(\'index.php?do=renew\',\'Popup1\',\'toolbar=0, width=500, height=500\')",' . $delay . '); </script>'; The page is in php, so that's why I have it as a string, which I later pass to a template page. This would simply be: Code: <script language="JavaScript"> setTimeout("window.open('index.php?do=renew','Popup1','toolbar=0, width=500, height=500')",6000); </script> ... if it was placed straight into the HTML. Incidentally, it's included into the HTML HEAD area, not the body, as the original source of the script suggested: http://www.itechies.net/tutorials/js...op-delayed.htm $delay is the delay before the popup opens, in microseconds (so 6000 would be 6 seconds). What can I do to have the same delayed auto-popup functionality, but without it automatically refreshing the parent page where the above code resides? As some background to what I'm achieving: The issue with not wanting the parent page to refresh is that each time it does, the login session gets extended. The popup itself (which I already have working ok) provides a 'continue working' function, or close and refresh the parent is nothing has been done after a short period. Any help very welcome. How could I open a page/popup after closing one? The objective is to log the user out if they haven't Logged out or clicked Logout. I am sure there is a simple way to do this. None of my ideas work. The only answer I could come with (after testing the whole day...) IE(any version), Firefox, and other browsers don't support this idea, due to the fact that the user clicked close and you can't impose things on them. |
