JavaScript - Download Of Patched Javascript File On Client Browser
hi,
I have a website which is available on internet and uses lot of javascript code. Someone recently reported a bug and I fixed it in a javascript file. Now I want to move this updated js file on my server. but I am confused, how will this fix now be downloaded on every user's browser when they access website the next time? Is the download to client machine dependent on browser settings? could it be possible that some customer machine has latest file and some do not. How do I force file to download on client machine independent of client browser settings? thank u Similar TutorialsI am developing a mobile app. I have a script that will read the contents of a csv into an array. It works great, however I am not sure how to take that array and insert it into a db. The following is the script that reads the csv -- function IO(U, V) { var X = !window.XMLHttpRequest ? new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP") : new XMLHttpRequest; X.open(V ? "PUT" : "GET", U, false); X.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "text/html"); X.send(V ? V : ""); return X.responseText; } var mycells = IO('data.csv').split(/\n/g).map(function(a){return a.split(/\t/g)} ) I want to insert the array 'mycells' into the db but do not know what the correct syntax would be. t.executeSql('INSERT INTO mytable (name, phone, street, city, state) VALUES (????????????... Thanks for any helps that is sent my way! Can anyone give me the code for the following: Suppose there is a hyperlink for file downloading in a html document. If I click on the link a new pop up window will come up which will be in the form of a typical file download popup window and will ask me to either "open" or "save" or "cancel" or "more info" (just as it happens in a typical file download process where a file download popup is being thrown). Also my file(the file can be in any format---.doc,.pdf,.exe or whatever)resides in my local hard drive and when I click on the hyper link the file download popup will comeup and will give me the 4 options as mentioned above. It wont just display the content of the file to be opened in new popup window. It will explicitly give the 4 options for any type of file to be downloaded thru the hyperlink. This coding is to be done only and only with HTML and JAVASCRIPT . Can anyone help me by providing code for the above task. Hi I am not sure if this is a javascript issue but, Google Chrome version : 10.0.680 with one particular website, when I click around the pages, chrome tries to download the page, so for example, say the page is called contact.html, it ends up trying to download a file calling it cr.download contact.html What is happening here - any ideas? Does that sound like a javascript issue to you? Thanks! Hi, I am trying to write a small web app that is used to do some plots for over-the-time-collected data (children's growth measurements). The current objective is to re-use entered data. As I do not want to store anything on the server (which would lead to all the annoying username-password-stuff), nor in cookies, I would like put measurements into a local file and reload them into the HTML entering form. I know and fully appreciate that javascript is not able to read or write files; it is on the other hand obvious that this can be bypassed if I upload the respective file to the server which returns it in an ajax fashion. My main question is now: Is it possible to do some kind of internal upload, that ends up in a read of a local file? Something like a <form method="post" action="localscriptname" ...> with an <input type="file"...> field? Another (off-topic) question: My plots are in PDF format. I accidentally appended some data to the PDF file which did not cause any problems for the pdf readers. Can I rely on the fact that any pdf reader will ignore data after the %%EOF mark, but will keep it if a file is downloaded, directly opened by acroread or whatever, and later saved from the reader program? This would allow it to keep the plot and the raw data in one file and might be helpful for the not-so-computer-affine target audience of my program. Greetings! I want to have another go at Javascript. I have several books on the subject but I find that my eyesight is a major problem. Therefore I want to try an on-line solution, preferably free. I have Googled, but there are so many that I am almost dizzy with the choices. Perhaps someone could recommend one. Not too fussy visually. My knowledge is VERY basic. Frank hi, how can i get client mac address OR hdd id with javascript for internet explorer? Hi Guys, I am trying to create a way for my users to download some code dynamically from my web page via a file download. Below is the code that i have written so far. It seems to be dying on the iframe but i'm not sure why. Here is my jquery trigger which is inside my onreadystate function. Code: $('#export_txt').click(function(e){ alert(LPAjax.ajaxurl + "/download.php"); $.generateFile({ action : "download_txt", filename : "exportme.txt", content : $("#ticket_window").html(), script : LPAjax.ajaxurl + "/download.php" }); e.preventDefault(); }); and here is the code i am using to process the post. Code: (function($){ // Creating a jQuery plugin: $.generateFile = function(options){ options = options || {}; if(!options.script || !options.filename || !options.content){ throw new Error("Please enter all the required config options!"); } alert("Inside Function"); // Creating a 1 by 1 px invisible iframe: var iframe = $('<iframe>',{ width:1, height:1, frameborder:0, css:{ display:'none' } }).appendTo('body'); var formHTML = '<form action="" method="post">'+ '<input type="hidden" name="filename" />'+ '<input type="hidden" name="content" />'+ '</form>'; // Giving IE a chance to build the DOM in // the iframe with a short timeout: setTimeout(function(){ // The body element of the iframe document: var body = (iframe.prop('contentDocument') !== undefined) ? iframe.prop('contentDocument').body : iframe.prop('document').body; // IE alert(" We are almost there"); body = $(body); // Adding the form to the body: body.html(formHTML); alert("added form to page"); var form = body.find('form'); form.attr('action',options.script); form.find('input[name=filename]').val(options.filename); form.find('input[name=content]').val(options.content); alert("submitting form"); // Submitting the form to download.php. This will // cause the file download dialog box to appear. form.submit(); },50); }; })(jQuery); it seems to be dying on this line. Code: var body = (iframe.prop('contentDocument') !== undefined) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I wish to change the dynamic text in a javascript to that which is in a MySQL database using PHP. this is then used in a flash scroller. currently i have hard coded the text in the javascript file. is there a way to have PHP run in the javascript file before it is sent to the endusers? or another way ? My aim is to use Browser detection to have a CSS file for each browser type, such as Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari and then an overall CSS file if none of the above, to fix numerous flaws. For IE and Firefox using the site's code is all well and good and while I haven't tested it yet I'm wondering how to set up the coding so that it can detect a safari browser. There are lots of slashes and d's and brackets and I do find myself unable to understand their purpose. So if someone can explain how I could do it for Safari I would be very appreciative. AC_ActiveX.js & AC_RunActiveContent.js is for java app that detect my client mac address I have java application running on my computer. I've tested on several pc, sometimes it detect the mac address, but sometimes nothing came out. In create_users.php, somehow im not able to store the mac address into a variable..( var mac = getMacAddress(); ) 1) Are my java coding would run on every pc? 2) I'm able to print out the mac address with "document.write(getMacAddress());" but why isit having stored in the variable is an issue? 3) which explorer would be the best to have the java running? This html page contains a Table and a button. On button click, I would like to create another HTML page based on the detail in the table, dynamically on run time and Open the newly created HTML. I need to use javascript to achieve this functionality. I have no Server-Client Configuration. And I need to run the Javscript only on client side to process the First HTML's table data and Create a new HTML page. The output of the javascript should also be put in a table format in the newly created HTML page. Here is some background information: The details from one server would be put into this first HTML along with a button. This HTML page is then mailed to Client side. The javascript in the HTML page then processes the Table data of first HTML. This can only be run at Client Side, once the user clicks the button and moreover I dont have Server-Client Configuration. I am creating a report and mailing it, For formatting purposes and for creating hyperlink to mailid's I chose HTML, Now I am struck here. Could some one please help me out with this. I have try a few scripts but they all fail. This will help me out formating the code for diferent browsers. Thanks Hi everyone, I have been trawling for useful info for a few hours and still have no definitive answer. There is plenty of info about creating server side javascript which can use php/asp to pull in xml etc and process but there is nothing I could find identifying how to do the same thing but with the javascript being client side only, e.g chrome plugin code. From what I currently understand, javascript client side only cannot reach or ask for any services externally. Am I missing something obvious or just trying to do something impossible? Cheers , Aro All -- I have a JavaScript config file called gameSetting.js which contains a bunch of variables which configures a particular game. I also have a shared JavaScript library which uses the variables in gameSetting.js, which I include like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="gameSetting.js" ></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="gameLibrary.js" ></script> In gameSetting.js I have: $(document).ready(function() { // call some functions / classes in gameLibrary.js } in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, this works fine. However, in IE, when it's parsing gameSetting.js, it complains that the functions that live in gameLibrary.js aren't defined. When it gets to parsing gameLibrary.js, the variables in gameSetting.js are reported as not being defined. I've tried dynamically bootstrapping the gameLibrary file using this function in document.ready for dynamic load... $.getScript("gameLibrary.js"); However, the same problem still happens in IE, where when it parses the files individually it's not taking into context the file/variables that came before, so it's not an out of load order problem. My options a 1) collapsing all the functions in gameLibrary.js and variables in gameSetting.js into one file. However, this is not practical because this is dealing with literally hundreds of games, and having a gameLibrary.js in ONE location for ONE update is what makes most logical sense. 2) figure out a way to get this to work where variables in file1 are accessible to file2 in IE (as it seems they are in other browsers). jQuery seems to be able to have multiple plugins that all refer to the based jQuery-1.3.2.js, so I know there is a way to get this to work. Help appreciated. Nero Hi there, On this website: http://www.lutanho.net/stroke/online.html it's allowed to "copy the games to your PC and play them offline". That's nice but how do I do that? I've tried to download/copy the game "WordGrid" to my PC but it didn't work. Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance........... Hi, i want to bring image download link to download a single image using like <a href="./images/sam.png">Download</a> when i click the download link it need to download plz help how can i download can finished Thanking you Hey guys I've a download page with a button 'DOWNLOAD NOW'. When the button is clicked visitors will have to wait for the download to starts (doesn't redirect). What I want is that sometimes it takes very long for the DL to start after clicking the button, for instance 10 seconds. Hence I want to show a simple preloader WHEN the button is click, while waiting for the browser to stop loading and download to start, AND hide the preloader when browser stop loading and download started. |
