JavaScript - How Do I Show The Values Selected By Checkbox?
My goal is that when I click on the submit button, I just want to display an alert box with the values selected, and also look at this in the console.log.
Can anyone help me? Thanks. I'm making a needs list for a non-profit group and the list is "huge" so I thought it would be nice to have something where the viewer could have a list of the items they checked to donate instead of printing out or transmitting the six pages for the entire list. I found a script in the archives from 10/2002 that "Adios" wrote in reply to an inquiry. It is real close to what I want but it involves transfering graphics instead of the text information from the checkbox. I've been working on it for several days but cannot get it to work. Here's Adios' script: <html> <head> <title>untitled</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var lefty = righty = null; function pop_twins() { lefty = open('lefty.htm','lefty','left=0,top=0,width='+screen.availWidth/2+',height='+screen.availHeight+',status=0'); righty = open('righty.htm','righty','left='+screen.availWidth/2+',top=0,width='+screen.availWidth/2+',height='+screen.availHeight+',status=0'); lefty.focus(); righty.focus(); } </script> </head> <body> <a href="javascript:void pop_twins()">pop 'em</a> </body> </html> [lefty.htm] <html> <head> <title>The Source</title> <base href="http://aabode.com/victoria/images/"> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var path = 'http://aabode.com/victoria/images/'; function addIMG() { var HTML = '', img, box_arr = document.addform.ImgAdd, which = 0; HTML += '<html><head><title>The Destination</title></head><body>'; HTML += '<h1>&#149; The Destination &#149;</h1>'; while (box = box_arr[which++]) if (box.checked) HTML += '<img vspace="5" border="1" src="' + path + box.value + '"><br>'; HTML += '</body></html>'; if (opener.righty) { opener.righty.document.write(HTML); opener.righty.document.close(); } } </script> </head> <body> <h1>&#149; The Source &#149;</h1> <form name="addform"> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="apple.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="apple.jpg"><br> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="strawberry.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="strawberry.jpg"><br> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="pumpkin.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="pumpkin.jpg"><br> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="lettuce.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="lettuce.jpg"><br> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="raspberries.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="raspberries.jpg"><br> <input type="checkbox" name="ImgAdd" value="tomatoes.jpg" onclick="addIMG()"> <img align="middle" vspace="5" border="1" src="tomatoes.jpg"> </form> </body> </html> [righty.htm] <html> <head> <title>The Destination</title> <body> <h1>&#149; The Destination &#149;</h1> </body> </html> I would like to also include a print function and submit. The print feature is not a big issue as the viewer can print from the browser but I thought it would make the transferred information page a bit more snazzy and they will have a record of thier selections. On the submit I don't have a URL setup yet but if you could put something like "URL HERE" in the script placement I can change it when they get up and going. I'm trying to create my form in such a way that if 'Premium' is selected, a the text box with label 'membership no' is displayed and if 'bronze' is select, the drop-down list 'sponsor' is displayed instead....here's what my form looks like... PHP Code: <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <p> <label for="select">Membership:</label> <br /> <select name="select" id="select"> <option value="Premium" selected="selected">premium</option> <option value="Bronze">bronze</option> </select> </p> <p>Membership No:<br /> <input type="text" name="textfield" id="textfield" /> </p> OR<br /> Sponsor: <br /> <select name="select2" id="select2"> <option value="329">329</option> <option value="234">234</option> </select> </form> appreciate the help I have a form which contains a few drop down lists. The contents of the dropdown lists are dependent on each other and are populated via php scripts which are called each time a selection is made or changed by the user. When the view results button is clicked in the form I need the user to be directed to a specific page based on the selections they have made. The url of the page they need to be directed to is really based on what has been chosen in the first dropdown. The subsequent dropdowns form variables that I need to be sent to the page so that the data the user sees on that page is relevant. ie if the user has chosen bikes then a specific manufacturer then a specific price range the page they will be sent to will be the bike.php page with all the manufacturer specific bikes in their chosen price range visible. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about doing this please? I had thought about using the php header script along with an if statement but how do I then go about getting the variables sent to the page to be recognised? Would I be better looking at the window.location in js to do this? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated on this. I can post the code for the form if that makes any difference. total score from selected drop down values Hello friends the following is the code i am using without success Code: var numQuestn = 6; function GetScore(form) { var score = 0; var item = 0; var currQuestn = 0; for (i = 0; i < numQuestn; i++) { item = form.q1.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q1.options[item].value); } item = form.q2.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q2.options[item].value) } item = form.q3.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q3.options[item].value) } item = form.q4.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q4.options[item].value) } item = form.q5.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q5.options[item].value) } item = form.q6.selectedIndex; { score += eval(form.q6.options[item].value) } } form.total.value = score } i am not able to find the error Please help me Thank you in advance Hey javascript newbie, Im trying to figure out how to add different radio if its selected or not example: Radio_Button1 value="5": Selected Radio_Button2 value="15": Not Selected Radio_Button3 value="25": Selected Radio_Button4 value="35": Selected var addingitup = ??? and im lost???? As well as this I have a toggle button called '.filtertoggle' which toggles the '.filterbox' At the moment the '.filterbox' shows regardless of whether or not the checkbox is checked. The toggle button works correctly. If you know how to fix this then I would be very grateful. Thank you. what can be the reasons for the same code which works perfectly in notepad to not show its result in a jsp application done using eclipse??anything to do with settings? I am not able to display the current date as default in dd/mm/yyyy format in drop down boxes..only dd and yyyy apears but month isnt apearing as default.. can u suggest alternative logic and its code to implement the same?? Hi all, I am in the process of developing a calculator for some of my colleagues to use. One of the variables within the calculations is called PMH. I want to determine the value of PMH based on which checkboxes are ticked. Each checkbox has a different value. If the checkbox is not ticked, then the value of each option is 1 and obviously more than one checkbox may be ticked. I have created the checbox code: Code: <td><input type="checkbox" name="PMH" value="1.6" /> Smoker<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="PMH" value="0.4" /> CCF<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="PMH" value="0.5" /> Pulmonary Oedema / Cirrhosis<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="PMH" value="0.8" /> COAD<br /></td> but I have no idea on how to calculate what I need for var PMH. Can someone guide me as to what I need to do please? Cheers, mads |
