JavaScript - Classic Ado Connection String Problem
The closest thread I found related to this was http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=199192
I suppose I don't really know how database connections work. I can use Jet to connect to a .mdb on my C drive: "C:\\northwind.mdb" But not on the server: "\\something.anotherthing.mil\\Code34\\_fs34Projects\\ANTS\\FBG\\Database\\dev\\db\\northwind.md b"; (tried single and double slashes) Any ideas? here's the code: Code: $(document).ready(function() { warg = new unpackArgs(); //warg.dbPath = "\\something.anotherthing.mil\Code34\_fs34Projects\ANTS\FBG\Database\dev\db\database.mdb"; warg.dbPath = "\\\\something.anotherthing.mil\\Code34\\_fs34Projects\\ANTS\\FBG\\Database\\dev\\db\\database.mdb"; warg.rootID = warg.ROOTID_HIGHEST; warg.entryType = warg.ENTRYTYPE_NONE; warg.entryOption = warg.ENTRYOPTION_SHOWBUTTONS; warg.tableName = "Foods"; warg.fieldList = "*"; var cn = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Connection"); cn.Mode = MODE_ADMODEREAD; var strConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = "+warg.dbPath; try { cn.Open(strConn,null,null,-1); ...etc... Similar TutorialsI've been doing some research as to why this doesn't work but to no avail. I'm hoping someone here can lend a hand/brain. I'm relatively new to Javascript. This works perfectly in FF and IE7 but not IE6. The very last "tdright" div at the bottom of this list (the item shown in the HTML I've provided is in the middle of 30+ rows of parameters) also gets out of whack in IE6 for some reason. FF is fine, of course. Code: var ie = (document.all) ? true : false; function hideID(objID){ var element = (ie) ? document.all(objID) : document.getElementById(objID); element.style.display="none" } function showID(objID){ var element = (ie) ? document.all(objID) : document.getElementById(objID); element.style.display="block" } function toggleID(objID){ var element = (ie) ? document.all(objID) : document.getElementById(objID); if (element.style.display=="none"){ element.style.display="block" } else { element.style.display="none" } } Code: <div class="tdright">: <input type="text" size="1" name="x_label_angle" value="<?php echo $_SESSION['x_label_angle']; ?>"></div> <div class="tdleft"><p class="IEtop4px">Interval</p></div> <div class="tdright">: <select name="x_label_interval" style="width:80px"> <option value="First & Last" onClick="hideID('x_label_other_left');hideID('x_label_other_right');"<?php if ($_SESSION['x_label_interval'] == "First & Last") { ?> selected<?php } ?>>First & Last <option value="Halfway" onClick="hideID('x_label_other_left');hideID('x_label_other_right');"<?php if ($_SESSION['x_label_interval'] == "Halfway") { ?> selected<?php } ?>>Halfway <option value="One-Third" onClick="hideID('x_label_other_left');hideID('x_label_other_right');"<?php if ($_SESSION['x_label_interval'] == "One-Third") { ?> selected<?php } ?>>One-Third <option value="All" onClick="hideID('x_label_other_left');hideID('x_label_other_right');"<?php if ($_SESSION['x_label_interval'] == "All") { ?> selected<?php } ?>>All <option value="Other" onClick="showID('x_label_other_left');showID('x_label_other_right');"<?php if ($_SESSION['x_label_interval'] == "Other") { ?> selected<?php } ?>>Other </select> </div> <div class="tdleft" id="x_label_other_left" style="display:none"></div> <div class="tdright" id="x_label_other_right" style="display:none"> <input type="text" size="1" name="x_label_other_interval" value="<?php if (is_numeric($_SESSION['x_label_interval'])) { echo $_SESSION['x_label_interval']; } ?>"></div> Thanks in advance! Thanks in advance, t-racer So, I need to use a javascript variable when reading a value from a asp array. Currently I have a windows app that has a webbrowser. Teh windows app invokes a javascript method through the webbrowser and this javascript method returns an object. This object is built in the javascript function using values which exist inside a classic asp array. Phew! The function that sits on the relevant asp page, is invoked from my windows app and then returns the object to the windows app is below. function item(count) { var pid; var description; var fullprice; var discountprice; var quantity; var size; this.pid = '<%=SBagArray(0,count) %>'; //ProductId this.description = "<%=SBagArray(1,count)%>"; //description this.fullprice = <%=SBagArray(8,count) %>; //Fullprice this.discountprice = <%=SBagArray(9,count) %>; //Discountprice this.quantity = <%=SBagArray(6,count) %>; //Quantity this.size = <%=SBagArray(2,count) %>; //Size this.getPid = function() { return this.pid; } this.getDescription = function() { return this.description; } this.getFullprice = function() { return this.fullprice; } this.getDiscountprice = function() { return this.discountprice; } this.getQuantity = function() { return this.quantity; } this.getSize = function() { return this.size; } } My problem is that the variable 'count' is not recognised by the asp. So, how can I use this variable in such a way that it works? This is driving me crazy! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Hey guys. I'm trying to display a grid of data basically, but inside a table and with appropriate closing and beginning of td and tr tags. I'm having a very weird problem. Here is my code: Code: tasks = document.getElementById('tasks'); var i = 0; tasks.innerHTML = <tablebgcolor=silver>"; while (i < 3) { tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + "<tr><td>"; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + text[i][0]; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + "</td><td>"; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + text[i][1]; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + "</td><td>"; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + text[i][2]; tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + "</td></tr>"; i++; } tasks.innerHTML = tasks.innerHTML + "</table>"; The html just doesn't work when it's in a string. I have to put each "<tr><td>", "</td><td>", </td></tr>", <table bgcolor=silver>", etc. into it's own variable and do it that way. That doesn't seem like it should be happening and I don't think it would be good to do it that way in the long run. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm developing a DHTML based Flashcard app that will work using firefox (MiniMo on Mobile Devices). It's working fine (reads and writes datafile to and from the local disk). However, when i start reviewing the flashcards, it seems to have some parsing issues. Do explain more about the data file, it is a 3 record CSV file with 3 catagories: ChineseCharacter, PinYin, English For some reason or another, i can figure out how to correctly pars out and put the correct data in the corresponding Data Arrays. I would like to get this program working as soon as i can, i plan to use it to study for the HSK test (Chinese proficiency test). I'm supposed to take it in about 4 months. - yes im cramming here's my code: Code: <html> <head> <script language="javascript"> // Set Global Variables var ChineseCard = new Array(); var PinYinCard = new Array(); Thanks for response Hello, I am new to javascript, I have been searching how to connect to a database and execute some queries, and then use the data that I get to populate some tables in a web page, all this using javascript. I am confused because I have seen in some webpages that javascript is not designed to connect with databases, and also I have see other pages where they say that it is possible. Does anyone know if it is possible to use javascript to connect to a database (informix), and execute some procedures or queries? Is the any tutorial a about it? Thanks i need script will detect connection speed and redirect to a page:
i have pasted below java script code. please check write or wrong <script language = "JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> // Remove down to "ConnectionSpeed Detection section" if you don't want to use cookies // If you drop a cookie it can be picked up on return by php or something else function setCookie(name, value, expire) { document.cookie = name + "=" + escape(value) + ((expire == null ? I am trying to figure out a way to have a page redirect if the mysql connection fails. The issue is that the page is already loaded and the only time this would be needed is if the user tries to perform operations on a loaded page after the session runs out. So basically, I have a page that will allow you to search for an item using ajax, then select an item and press add which will place the item in another table displaying detailed information. Both operations connect to the database using SESSION variables to save the connection information. My goal is to use the "or die()" method to print something that will force a redirect because this could happen in a number of places in the site and I want to try and get them all in one swipe. Here is what seemed like it would be the most promising: Code: $conn = mysql_connect($_SESSION['host'], $_SESSION['username'], $_SESSION['password']) or die("<script>location.href= '../login.php'</script>"); Unfortunately the javascript never runs.... I tried putting alerts also and nothing, but with firebug I can see they are printed. Any idea how I can ensure that the javascript is executed? Thanks in advance. In the home page (index.html) i have a flash intro. The first time a user sees the website, the intro should play. Once he goes to another page (about_us or contact_us) and comes back to the home page, it should show a different swf (the version without the intro) - i have created two swf files. I need to know how to change them when the user has already seen the intro or was in the home page before. When i googled, i found something on cookies. I have no clue on how to set them and change the swf file. Would be great if someone has already done this or point me to a tutorial. i need java script. please help!!!!!!! I find the following detect Internet connection script unreliable. Can someone tell me what I should change to make it work consistently? To sum up, the code detects an image on a server and checks its size. If it's size is less than zero, then "Off" appears in a form input field. Otherwise, "On" appears in the field. This code is being used in a smartphone to test for Internet connection. Code: <form id="formConnection"> <input id="connectionStatus" class="display2" size="1" type="text" name="status" value=""> </form> <!-- testConnectionInApp.png is a 126-byte 10x10px PNG image. --> <script type="text/javascript"> function showOn(form) { form.elements.status.value = "On"; } function showOff(form) { form.elements.status.value = "Off"; } function testConnection() { var checkExistenceOfImg = new Image(); var form = document.getElementById('formConnection'); checkExistenceOfImg.src = "http://aedownloads.com/misc/testConnectionInApp.png"; if(checkExistenceOfImg.height > 0) { showOn(form); } else { showOff(form); } } </script> </body> </html> I cant work out why I am getting this in Safari 4 and there doesnt seem to be anything around on google about it? Any help would be massively appreciated on this. Safri error console tells me Code: Refused to set unsafe header "Connection" from my ajax call. It works fine in all other browsers. heres the Ajax call (adopted from Pro javascript techniques and a few otehr places) ********** EDIT my bad this is an error totally unreleated to this issue. I need help to make a Server to server connection I already have a server connected to clients, clients send msgs and it echoes back to all of them and now i want when a client sends a msg it echoes on his server and the other server too .. so when any of the clients on any of the servers sends a msg it is broadcasted all over the servers to all clients This is my SERVER code Code: import java.io.*; import java.net.*; public class MultiThreadChatServer { // Declaration section: This part to declare the server socket, client // socket, input stream // and output stream static Socket clientSocket = null; static ServerSocket serverSocket = null; // server can hold up to 10 clients static clientThread t[] = new clientThread[10]; public static void main(String args[]) { int port_number = 6000; if (args.length < 1) { System.out.println("Server Started \n" + "Now using port number=" + port_number); } else { port_number = Integer.valueOf(args[0]).intValue(); } // Initialization section: Where I try to open a server socket on the // given port try { serverSocket = new ServerSocket(port_number); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println(e); } // Create a socket object from the ServerSocket to listen and accept // connections // Open input and output streams for this socket will be created in // client's thread since every client is served by the server in // an individual thread while (true) { try { clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); for (int i = 0; i <= 9; i++) { if (t[i] == null) { (t[i] = new clientThread(clientSocket, t)).start(); break; } } } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println(e); } } } } // This client thread opens the input and the output streams for a particular // client, // ask the client's name, informs all the clients currently connected to the // server about the fact that a new client has joined the chat room, // and as long as it receive data, echos that data back to all other clients. // When the client leaves the chat room this thread informs also all the // clients about that and terminates. class clientThread extends Thread { DataInputStream is = null; PrintStream os = null; Socket clientSocket = null; clientThread t[]; public clientThread(Socket clientSocket, clientThread[] t) { this.clientSocket = clientSocket; this.t = t; } public void run() { String line; String name; try { is = new DataInputStream(clientSocket.getInputStream()); os = new PrintStream(clientSocket.getOutputStream()); os.println("Enter your name."); name = is.readLine(); os.println("Hello " + name + " you can now start chatting with all the connected chat-mates"); for (int i = 0; i <= 9; i++) if (t[i] != null && t[i] != this) t[i].os.println(".." + name + " has entered the chat room .."); while (true) { line = is.readLine(); if (line.startsWith("/quit")) break; for (int i = 0; i <= 9; i++) if (t[i] != null) t[i].os.println("<" + name + "> " + line); } for (int i = 0; i <= 9; i++) if (t[i] != null && t[i] != this) t[i].os.println("" + name + " has left the chat room .."); os.println("Bye " + name + " .."); // Clean up: // Set to null the current thread variable such that other client // could // be accepted by the server for (int i = 0; i <= 9; i++) if (t[i] == this) t[i] = null; // close the output stream // close the input stream // close the socket is.close(); os.close(); clientSocket.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } ; } } I am trying to use some string functions with no results. It appear what I'm using them on are not strings. my_string = document.getElementById("link5").onclick; document.write(my_string.lastIndexOf("5")); This gets nothing! And document.write(document.getElementById("link5").onclick.lastIndexOf("5")); gets nothing. BUT if I make a string and put what the onclick is set to with: my_string = "function onclick(event) { reveal(\"5\", \"2\", \"1864\")"; then my_string.lastIndexOf("5") will yield 34. So why is my original my_string = not working? And how can I get it to work? I need help with the following code below. It just doesn't turn out okay. Any ideas? Code: function changing() { A = document.exempel.Amount.value B = ("<%#Container.DataItem("Price_2_qty")%>") C = ("<%#Container.DataItem("Price_3_qty")%>") D = ("<%#Container.DataItem("Price_4_qty")%>") E = ("<%#Container.DataItem("Price_5_qty")%>") if (A < B) {document.exempel.Price.value = "<%#Container.DataItem("Price_1")%>"} else if (A = B && (!(A >= C))) {document.exempel.Price.value = "<%#Container.DataItem("Price_2")%>"} else if (A = C && (!(A >= D))) {document.exempel.Price.value = "<%#Container.DataItem("Price_3")%>"} else if (A = D && (!(A >= E))) {document.exempel.Price.value = "<%#Container.DataItem("Price_4")%>"} else if (A >= E) {document.exempel.Price.value = "<%#Container.DataItem("Price_5")%>"} } I was looking at this page, and came across "%" used in strange context. It appears that the mod operator can be used in Strings?? http://download.oracle.com/javase/tu...vaOO/enum.html What does this do/ mean? Thanks!!: System.out.printf("Your weight on %s is %f%n", p, p.surfaceWeight(mass)); This is probably easy if I knew Javascript. Can someone show me the code to get the number "800014352" part from the url???? http://testebiz/ebizbtest/ShoppingCa...2/Default.aspx What would the best be to split the following string: "only(a-z,A-Z,1-9)" I want to split it into a array to look like this: array(only, a-z, A-Z, 1-9); |
