Similar TutorialsI have a html where the user will just need to keyin the .pdf value and it will retrieve the file and it will be copied to local drive for certain reason. Once it's copied to local file, it will be display in IE. After the user has finished reading the .pdf, the user will click on one button to reload the html. Now I want to add in a delete function to delete the local saved .pdf. When I try to call the function after my "window.location.reload()" , the delete function will definitely not running. So, is it possible to close the .pdf file with javascript first, then delete the local saved .pdf, then here we reload the html ? Thanks for suggestion. Note : The .pdf will be display in the same window and same tab of IE. Whole html will be running in only one tab and window. Code: function reloadPage() { window.location.reload() remove(); } function remove() { var sBnr = document.getElementById("txtBnr").value; var myObject; var fso = myObject = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); fso.DeleteFile("C:\\eBondingDiagram\\" + sBnr + ".pdf"); } Hello I'm using lytebox to open an iframe, but the iframe url is in another domain that the parent window. i need to close the iframe when user clicks a button. I can do that with javascript : top.$lb.end(); the $lb.end(); starts lytebox scripts in parent window which close the iframe and modify all the css stuff. That works when my iframe url is in the same domain. But when it's in another domain, that does'nt work. Can anyone tells me how to do that ? Starting the $lb.end() function of the parent window ? Thank you. I have a system on my website that logs users in. Once the user is logged in, I need the popup window that it takes place in to close and the parent window to refresh. This system could go through different pages depending on if the user has even been there before, etc., but the ending page will always be the same. I tried writing my own JavaScript for this, but since I do hardly any work with it, I can't get it to work quite right. Here is what I have, which I believe to be pretty close to what I want the end result to be: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var iframe = document.getElementById("IFRAME ID").contentWindow.location.href; var url = "ENDING PAGE URL"; function LoadFrame() { if (iframe == url) { window.close(); if (window.opener && !window.opener.closed) { window.opener.location.reload(); } else { } </script> So I guess that I'm asking what do I need to change/add/fix/get rid of/whatever to make this work? Hi all, I have an iframe on my page and I added the following code to detect the iframe file height to avoid scrolling which is working fine. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function setIframeHeight(iframeName) { //var iframeWin = window.frames[iframeName]; var iframeEl = document.getElementById? document.getElementById(iframeName): document.all? document.all[iframeName]: null; if (iframeEl) { iframeEl.style.height = "auto"; // helps resize (for some) if new doc shorter than previous //var docHt = getDocHeight(iframeWin.document); // need to add to height to be sure it will all show var h = alertSize(); var new_h = (h-148); iframeEl.style.height = new_h + "px"; //alertSize(); } } function alertSize() { var myHeight = 0; if( typeof( window.innerWidth ) == 'number' ) { //Non-IE myHeight = window.innerHeight; } else if( document.documentElement && ( document.documentElement.clientWidth || document.documentElement.clientHeight ) ) { //IE 6+ in 'standards compliant mode' myHeight = document.documentElement.clientHeight; } else if( document.body && ( document.body.clientWidth || document.body.clientHeight ) ) { //IE 4 compatible myHeight = document.body.clientHeight; } //window.alert( 'Height = ' + myHeight ); return myHeight; } </script> <body onload="setIframeHeight('ifrm');"> <iframe name="ifrm" id="ifrm" src="http://thirdpartywebsite.com/search.htm" width="948" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" style="margin-top:45px; margin-left:10px; align="center"> </iframe> There is a form in the iframe and it is coming from a third party web site which I have no access. My problem is when a client submits the search form in the iframe search results page is higher than the search main page and half of search results page is not shown. Is there a way to sense that the page in the iframe is changed and resize the iframe height accordingly? Thanks Ceyhun This is probable very easy, I've tried with normal html and am unable to get my head around it. I would like to in some way replicate how a web browser works. I have a form entry field with a submit button at the top of the page. Under that I have an iframe. I copy the url http://www.bbc.co.uk into the entry field, click submit and the iframe updates with the website. Have looked around and haven't found anything similar. Code so far.... <form target="myURL"> <input type="text" name="goTo"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> </form> <iframe src="" name="myURL" border="0" frameborder="0" width="768" height="354"></iframe> Thanks in advanced. Death = $Mill I have a form inside an iFrame which I want to submit with javascript as the iFrame loads. For example: Code: <iframe src="......." name="myiframe" id="myiframe"> <form method="post" id="myform" name="myform" action="http:// www.yahoo.com" rel="nofollow" target="_self"> </form> </iframe> No matter how I try to submit the form I cannot get it. I have tried: document.getElementsByName("myform") document.myiframe.myform all other combinations I try gives the same, i cannot access the form. (The page inside the iFrame is from the same domain as the parent page, I am not trying to do any cross domain scripting) Can you please assist me getting this working ? Thanks! Hi! I am trying to use a very simpe wysiwyg-editor. It works fine, except i don't know how to proces the data from the iframe. I simply cant make use of the text written. Code: <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <script type="text/javascript"> function Init() { document.getElementById("rte").contentWindow.document.designMode = "On"; } function doBold() { document.getElementById("rte").contentWindow.document.execCommand('bold', false, null); } function doItalic() { document.getElementById("rte").contentWindow.document.execCommand('italic', false, null); } function doURL() { var mylink = prompt("Enter a URL:", "http://"); if ((mylink != null) && (mylink != "")) { document.getElementById('rte').contentWindow.document.execCommand("CreateLink",false,mylink); } } function doImage() { myimg = prompt('Enter Image URL:', 'http://'); document.getElementById('rte').contentWindow.document.execCommand('InsertImage', false, myimg); } </script> </head> <body onLoad="Init();"> <input type="submit" name="btnBold" value="bold" on id="btnBold" onClick="doBold();"> <input type="submit" name="btnItalic" id="btnItalic" value="italic" onClick="doItalic();"> <input type="submit" name="btnURL" id="btnURL" value="URL" onClick="doURL();"> <input type="submit" name="btnImg" id="btnImg" value="Image" onClick="doImage();"> <br> <form action="process.php" method="post"> <iframe name="rte" id="rte"><textarea name="areal"></textarea> </iframe> <br> <input type="submit" value="Submit"></form> </body> </html> Most editors seem use this iframe-thing, without telling how to send the information by a form. Hi! I'm new to this, so please bare with me. My terminology may not be up to par. Here's the deal: - I have a button on my Flash site that opens an HTML page in a popup window. In Flash, I open the new window using Actiosnscript 2.0: Code: on (release) { getURL("example1.html", "_blank"); } - Within the popup window are links to other HTML pages. They all open in the same window. I've been using the following to create the links in Dreamweaver: Code: onClick="MM_goToURL('parent','example2.html')" - On each page, I have a "Return to Main Menu" button that should close the popup window. To do this, I have been using: Code: onClick="window.close()" - The problem is that it works differently in each browser, and I can't even get it to consistently close the window in most browsers: Internet Explorer = popup message appears, asking "Are you sure you want to close this window?" or something similar; window closes after clicking "Yes." Safari = Only closes if I'm on the original HTML page. If I click on any of the other links (note that these all open in the same window), those pages' "Return to Main Menu" buttons cease to work. However, if I keep clicking "Back" until I get to the original page, it closes. Opera = Button actually works for each page. Firefox & Chrome = Does not close the window at all. I looked into it and saw that others have used a window.opener to solve similar issues. But, since my popup window is opened using Flash/AS2, I need to find a way around it. I've tried preceding "window.close()" with "window.opener=null" (i.e. - onClick="window.opener=null; window.close()"), but I don't think I'm doing it right because it still doesn't work. I've also seen others use codes that involve functions and variables, but it is beyond my current coding knowledge to implement this. Like I said, I'm sort of new at this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. - PW Hi, I have a form that when you click submit gives a warning box asking if to continue code below Now when I type in the text field and press enter it doesn't submit nor does it pop up the warning box, how would I do this Code for submit button Code: <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- function submitMyForm() { var agree=confirm("ARE YOU SURE ?"); if (agree) return true ; else return false ; } // --> </script> Code: <form action="admin-delete.php" method="post" name="cp_delete" id="cp_delete"> <input type="text" name="cp_delete_bg" id="cp_delete_bg"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit" onclick="return submitMyForm()"/> </form> Hi all Is using the real form submit button a problem in any way? Can it actaully send a form when a person uses 'enter' in a text field. When I use this submit, it triggers my validation which is great. Code: <input type="submit" value="OnSubmit validate" /> However this way doesn't seem to trigger my validation although It may solve the above form send problem (if that realy exists). How do I get it to act the same as real submit so it will trigger validation like onsubmit above? Code: <input type="button" value="Send Feedback" onclick="this.form.submit()" /> LT does any of that make sense? all ideas helpful and appreciated I have created some online software which uses form data to submit to another page. The problem is that I have other submit buttons in the same form which submit to different pages (depending on which button is pressed). The first submit button works fine but all the others only work once. Code: <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button1' onclick="wbform.action='page1.php'; target='mainFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button2' onclick="wbform.action='page2.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button3' onclick="wbform.action='page3.php'; target='topFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button4' onclick="wbform.action='page4.php'; target='topFrame'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button5' onclick="wbform.action='page5.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> <input class="cssbutton" type='submit' value='Button6' onclick="wbform.action='page6.php'; target='_blank'; return true;"> Any ideas my friends? I've got the following 2 fields in my form: <input type="file" name="filename" id="filename" value="filename"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Upload Image" /> Now I want to hide both of them as soon as the submit button is pressed. Problem is that I'm a javascript noob and I can't find it with google :S Can someone help me? Hi there everybody, I've got this problem which I can't solve myself... I've got a website which has 3 colums and is hosted on domain1.com. in the right column I've got an Iframe which loads content from domain2.com . this content are some textboxes and a datepicker tool. if I press the 'search'-button in this Iframe I would like to refresh the mainpage (from domain1.com) so that another Iframe appears in the middle column. in this column i would like to load a new form from domain2.com which contains the values that I've put in in the form from the right Iframe. Unfortunally I can't get this to work... Will somebody please help me? Is there a way to resize an iframe dynamically so that you never get the scroll bar and essentially hide that there is an iframe? Better integration really. Basically I want to iframe a forum into my site so that the design down the sides and top which my friend does using iweb are not messed with. We have a central area which can be longer or shorter depending on the forum. Hi all, I hope you can help I have some code which: 1) Opens a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirects the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) after it has loaded... This works exactly as I need. What I'd like to do is the following: 1) Open a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirect the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) in a full-screen iframe 3) The address bar of the full-screen iframe should be my domain (obviously!) Here's what I have so far... Hidden iframe -> New URL Code: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var page_body = document.getElementsByTagName('body'); var myframe = document.createElement('iframe'); var id = Math.random(); myframe.setAttribute('id', 'myFrame'+id); myframe.src = 'http://google.com'; //First open Google in hidden iframe myframe.setAttribute('frameborder', '0') myframe.setAttribute('width', '0'); myframe.setAttribute('height', '0'); if (myframe.attachEvent) { myframe.attachEvent('onload', function() { top.location = 'http://yahoo.com'; //Once loaded redirect to Yahoo -- but the address bar shows yahoo.com -- I want the address bar to display mydomain.com/page.html }); } else if (myframe.addEventListener) { myframe.addEventListener('load', function() { top.location = ('http://yahoo.com'); }, false); } page_body[0].appendChild(myframe); </script> </body> </html> I have an example of some code which displays the full screen iframe, but my problem is... ...I can't figure out how to redirect to this after the hidden iframe has loaded Here's an example of how I want the redirect to display -- after the initial hidden iframe has loaded: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function sendParams() { document.body.style.overflow = "hidden"; } </script> </head> <body> <!--Open Yahoo.com in a full screen iframe, and disable extra scrollbar --> <iframe height="100%" width="100%" frameBorder="no" onload="sendParams()" src="http://yahoo.com"></iframe> </body> </html> I've been beating my head against the wall today trying to figure this out, and I'm fresh out of ideas. If you can help, you'll have some serious gratitude and good karma thrown your way! Best wishes, and thanks in advance, Paul Hi all, I'm designing something to addon to an existing product. I'm struggling with some javascript problems. I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage. Is this possible? Thanks I am trying to auto submit a login form remotely using .submit() . It's submitting, but for some reason if I use submit() the login isn't processing. However, if I turn off the auto submit and use an actual submit button it logs in just fine. Now, in the form tag there is a call onsubmit for some validation, does .submit() trigger that form onsubmit="" function? Is there something that happens differently when a user clicks a button verses the .submit(). Thanks! Paul I have used iframes for my site and found various javascripts so when a person clicks on say the audio page he http://www.krillmeed.com/index.html it takes them to the audio page but will load it into the index.html page. The problem is, especially with search engines, to point to that page, this is what the URL looks like to send someone to that page: http://www.krillmeed.com/?frame=0&sr...m%2Faudio.html which is not very clean at all, this is the javascript that i found that at least works: Child iframe script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> (function(){ var qstr = '?frame=0&src=' + encodeURIComponent(location.href), lre = new RegExp('^' + location.protocol + '//' + location.hostname + '(()|(/)|(/index.html)|(/index.php))(()|(\\' + qstr + '))$'); if (!lre.test(parent.location.href)){ top.location.href = '/' + qstr; } })(); </script> Parent iframe Script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> (function(){ function getQval(n) { if(typeof n !== 'string'){ return null; } var r = new RegExp('[?&;]' + n + '=([^&;#]*)'), m = location.search; return (m = r.exec(m))? unescape(m[1]) : null; } var f = getQval('frame'), s = getQval('src'); if(f && frames[f] && s && s.indexOf(location.protocol + '//' + location.hostname + '/') === 0){ frames[f].location.href = s; } })(); </script> Is there a "cleaner" way of doing this? This was an old code, i have yet to find a more modern one. Thank you in advance. how to close a tab in html or javascript
ok, so i got some help on here to modify some java that resides in a server-side program that is limited in scope of modification, but i was able to find the code that i need to modify to perform the behavior i need. the code below works great at making sure the user entry data is formatted correctly, but fails on 2 critical points: 1) it allows a blank entry (needs to give similar error message as when formatted incorrectly - see code) 2) it allows any formatting if a combination of alpha and numeric characters are used (needs to give error message if ANY alpha characters are used). THANKS so much in advance. Code: if( ! Form1.elements['EIF2'].disabled ) var n=Form1.elements['EIF2'].value.match(/\d/g).join(''); Form1.elements['EIF2'].value= [n.substring(0,4),n.substring(4,9),n.substring(9)].join('-'); { var re = /^\d{4}\-?\d{5}\-?\d{6}$/ if ( ! re.test( Form1.elements['EIF2'].value ) ) { alert( 'Lawson # must be 15 digits\r(Example: 1234-12345-123456)' ); return false; } } |
