JavaScript - Tracking How Many Times User Hit Ok Button
How would I track how many times a user hit the OK button when prompted with a message using document.writeln?
Similar TutorialsHi, I'm very new to Javascript and I'm stuck. I am trying to create a js script that will prompt the user for a times table (example the 5 times table, the 7 times table, etc.) & prompt the user for 2 more values; the 'start' number and 'end' number. So there would be 3 numbers total the user must input. The script should present a 'warning' message if the user inputs letters or negative numbers. I have come very close to getting it too work but can't quite get past the last hurdle. Upon entering the 3 numbers, the output should look similar to this: (the 5 times table starting with 1 and ending with 12) The 5 times table 5 * 1 = 5 5 * 2 = 10 5 * 3 = 15 5 * 4 = 20 5 * 5 = 25 5 * 6 = 30 5 * 7 = 35 5 * 8 = 40 5 * 9 = 45 5 * 10 = 50 5 * 11 = 55 5 * 12 = 60 I have placed the js script code on pastebin.com and below. The pastebin link is: http://pastebin.com/2NZPiFH9 Code: function writeTimesTable(timesTable, timesByStart, timesByEnd) { for (;timesByStart <= timesByEnd; timesByStart++) { document.write(timesTable + " * " + timesByStart + " = " + timesByStart * timesTable + "<br>"); } } var timesTable; while ( (timesTable = prompt("Enter the first number in the times table. Enter -1 to exit.", -1)) != -1) { while (isNaN(timesTable) == true) { timesTable = prompt(timesTable + " is not a valid number, please retry.",-1); } if (timesTable == -1) { break; } document.write("<br>The " + timesTable + " times table<br>"); writeTimesTable(timesTable,1,12); } Hi All, I have webform ,in that we have written some javascript for validation .we are calling this validatation while saving the form by using on client click event .Now we want to prevent the double time clicking the button .I have rounded the entire net but none of the code is not working because we have already calling the on client click function .I tried by calling 2 functions in on client click .But no use. Please suggeset some thing differnt and easy approach Awaiting for the reply Hi there! I need help! Basically, I need to create a sentence and on one of the words the person accessing the site can click the word and it will change to another word and then again to a third word and so on for 5 words then it will, on click, return to the 1st word again. like a circle of various words. I've managed to get it to work with 2 words back and forth - but I need it to have multiple states. I need the JS and how to impliment it in the HTML. JS isnt my strong point just yet Please help me! Thanks so so much! follow me on twitter - @robyn_90 I found this code sample that when a user clicks somewhere on the image, then an "X" will appear. I would like to have the "X"s remain visible even when the user clicks on a different area of the image. As you can imagine, a user clicks clicks clicks then there are "X"s everywhere. How do I do this? Currently in my html doc. i have the button declared. <input type="button" id ="button" onclick='notEmpty() value="Play"/> When the button is clicked, i execute the notEmpty() function and I want to execute a script inside the notEmpty(). How can i do this? Thanks, Praveen Ok so im new to javascript and I have a button in an interface for an app. It's like drag and drop and i want this button to link you to a certain website searching for what the user types in the searchField1 box. The button is button16. Such as you type dogs into the text box and you click the google button among other search engines and it will redirect you to a google search doing a search for dogs. But how do I make this button search google and search for whats in searchField1. I would really appreciate the help. Im looking everywhere to learn this but just cant find it. If you could tell me how or send me a link to a tutorial that would be great. Thanks! Here is the code: I don't know where and what to add to do that. Please help. Hi, "This happens only in chrome browser" I am trying to design a website and it has a couple of radio button on the first page. I selected one radio button and navigated to the next page. On my second page, if i hit back button, the first page show the radio option that i selected(which is correct) but when I hit save and continue it throws a JS error "please select one option". Chrome forces me to re-click the radio option again. The application is MVC 3.5, C# Here is the snippet of the ascx Code: <%= Html.RadioButton("radAccnt", "abc", Account != null ? (entity != string.Empty ? (entity.Substring(0, 3).Equals("abc") ? true : false) : false) : false, new { id = "radAbc", onClick = "SetEntity('abc');", onBlur = "javascript:ValidateOnBlur(\"ValidateAccount('true');\");" })%> I had a alert in SetEntity(Value) function and value is empty when the back button is clicked. I did some research and found that Chrome does not cache the form data. If this is true is there a work around for this? Please help. Thanks. I've been handed an html document that contains a centered, scrollable <iframe> element with a static height and width. This iframe element displays a simple html document that houses the 'terms of service' text. Their goal is to have it to where the <a href> link at the bottom that is shown to the user as 'next' is disabled until the user scrolls to the bottom of the terms of agreement box. The clickable link could be a button, image or text (no preference). They have to have it this way for legal reasons and radio buttons or checkboxes will not suffice unfortunately. Question: What is the best way to go about doing this that seems to be cross-browser friendly (especially IE7). I offer $10 via paypal for well commented method/script. Since it is not clear to me where this post should fit in the forum, I'm just posting it here. Is it possible to create a tracking code that would allow me to: (1) a) Find out the identity of visitors to a certain website (a website unrelated to me and the visitors did not visit my website) b) The identity of those who recently searched for a certain keywords and/or... (2) Find out what websites certain individuals have recently visited (or visiting in real-time)? Just curious, what test case software have ya'll been using. Ive been using http://is.gd/h9SW1 this but were curious what others were using? It's pretty good btw, just curious what the rest of ya'll are doing for your testing process. Doesn't hurt to know all the resources that are out there, right!?
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a header I use on my site which has a Javascript code for rotating banner ads. I'd like to try to track the clickthroughs on these ads and have been looking at the methods of doing this in google analytics, but they all seem to be for single links, such as the method he http://support.google.com/googleanal...n&answer=55527 which then don't work with the links as they are in the banner. I was wondering if anyone knew how I would be able to integrate the analytics code in that link into the banner I have, or of another method I can use to track clicks on the ads. Thanks! This is the banner I'm using: Code: <script type="text/javascript">function initArray() { this.length = initArray.arguments.length; for (var i = 0; i < this.length; i++) { this[i] = initArray.arguments[i]; } } link = new initArray( "http://www.jojingles.com", "http://www.goals-solutions.com/", "http://www.barleylands.co.uk/", "http://www.blukangaroo.co.uk/onlineshop", "http://www.explorelearning.co.uk/vebo", "http://www.explorelearning.co.uk/vebo", "http://www.allmumkind.com/", "http://quintessencemassage.weebly.com", "http://www.dw-beauty.co.uk", "http://www.theclothestree.co.uk" ); image = new initArray( "http://www.essexmums.org/images/jojingleslong.gif", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/goalssolutionbanner.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/barleylandsbanner.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/blukangaroo.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/explorelakeside.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/explorelakeside.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/allmumkind3.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/quintessence.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/dwbannerad.jpg", "http://www.essexmums.org/images/clothestree.jpg" ); text = new initArray( "Jo Jingles", "Goals Solution", "Barleylands", "Blu Kangaroo", "Explore Lakeside", "Explore Lakeside", "Allmumkind", "Quintessence", "DK Beauty", "The Clothes Tree" ); function getrandom(){ var core2 = Math.floor(Math.random()*10); // amount of items in array displaybanner(core2) displaybanner(core2) } function displaybanner(theNum2){ var ranlink2 = link[theNum2]; var ranimage2 = image[theNum2]; var rantext2 = text[theNum2]; document.getElementById('theImg2').alt=rantext2; document.getElementById('theImg2').src=ranimage2; document.getElementById('theLink2').href=ranlink2; } </script><a href="#" target="_blank" id="theLink2"><img src="" alt="" id="theImg2" border="0"></a> <script type="text/javascript"> getrandom(); setInterval("getrandom()", 22000); </script> I am trying to make a code that will get various stats from the user when he or she visits my site like : browser computer screen size ip address referrer etc. This is the code i have so far. I ma stuck on what i should do in the function. Code: <html> <head> </head> <body> <script type="test/javascript"> function stats (){ var data = } </script> </body> </html> One more question will I need to use php to send it to my email of could javascript do this. Hello, I am currently working on a script that has a background image("target", i.e. the image with rings that you would fire a gun at) a movable image ("person1") which can be moved by the mouse, click and drag style. What I would like to be able to do is get the location (in pixels) of "person1" to update as it moves around the screen so that I could potentially calculate the distance between it and the center pixel of "target". However, my code currently only updates on the release (onmouseup I suppose?) of the image because I am using onMouseMove as my trigger and as long as it is dragging the image, it the mouse isn't "moving" because it is constant relative to this image. So, I am looking for any alternative suggestions on a method to find this information. I started working in HTML/javascript on Monday, but if you throw out any suggestions I don't understand, I'm sure I can just google it. My current code implementation includes: To make my image movable: Code: <STYLE> @media all { move\:piece { behavior: url(movable.htc); cursor: move; color: white; background: transparent; font: bold 10pt verdana; mv--boundary:145 500 655 133; z-index:4; } } .bound { position: absolute; top: 100; left: 100; width: 120; height: 120; background: transparent } </STYLE> and Code: <move:piece ><object><img id="person1" src="../../../../Project/person1.png" alt="person1.png, 1.2kB" title="person1.png, 1" height="15" width="10" onMouseMove=Tracker("coord"); style="z-index=4"></object></move:piece> To find the position: Code: function findPos(obj) { var curleft = curtop = 0; if (obj.offsetParent) { do { curleft += obj.offsetLeft; curtop += obj.offsetTop; } while (obj = obj.offsetParent); return [curleft, curtop]; } } function Tracker(coordID) { person_pos = findPos(person1); document.getElementById(coordID).firstChild.nodeValue="(Left coordinate,Top Coordinate): ("+person_pos+")"; } Thank you for your help, klarosa Hello, I can tracking outgoing links now for html links. How can I track outgoing links in flash with jquery or something else? Best Regards Code: <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Tracking outgoing links with JavaScript and PHP</title> </head> <body> <p><a href="http://www.google.com/">Test link to Google</a></p> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(function() { $('a').click(function() { $.post('http://www.example.com/trackol.php', { result: 'click' }, 'html'); }); }); </script> </body> </html> from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2077823/tracking-outgoing-links-with-javascript-and-php Okay, so I built up 2 codes, which do the same cause. but which one would be most efficient? or maybe which one would be best compatible for browsers? CODE 1 : - this code allows for me to use an #id Code: <a onclick="trackClick('1');" href="http://www.google.com" rel="nofollow" target="_new">(track 1)</a> function trackClick(trackid) { ajax = ajaxFunction(); var url = base_url+ "app_trackClicks.php"; url = url+ "?trackid=" +trackid; ajax.open("GET",url, true); ajax.send(null); } CODE 2 - using the REL Code: <a rel="randomclicks" href="http://www.google.com" rel="nofollow" target="_new">(track 2)</a> function addLoadEvent(func) { var oldonload = window.onload; if (typeof window.onload != 'function'){ window.onload = func; } else { window.onload = function(){ oldonload(); func(); } } } addLoadEvent(randomclicks); function randomclicks() { if (!document.getElementsByTagName){ return; } var anchors = document.getElementsByTagName("a"); // loop through all anchor tags for (var i=0; i<anchors.length; i++){ var anchor = anchors[i]; if ((anchor.getAttribute("rel") == "randomclicks")){ anchor.onclick = function () { ajax = ajaxFunction(); var url = base_url+ "app_trackClicks.php"; url = url+ "?randomclicks"; ajax.open("GET",url, true); ajax.send(null); }; } } } Thanks I'm kind of new to javascript so forgive me for my ignorance. Is their anyway to track right mouse click within an iframe that is linked to an external site (i.e. www.nbc.com)? I'm trying to see if I can have a alert window say "This is an image" when i right click on an image within the iframe. Hey guys, I have a script that I'm running for a select box, and I need to run it twice now for another select box. Unfortunately if I duplicate it, it will not run at all. Im sure there is a way to combine these two so they both run. Any help very much appreciated! I have colored the text that differs between the two instances in red. Runs fine individually but not the two together . Code: <!--[][][][][][][][] Job Contacts Script --> <script type="text/javascript"> function show Customer (str) {var xmlhttp; if (str=="") {document.getElementById(" txtHint ").innerHTML=""; return;} if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();} else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");} xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() {if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) {document.getElementById(" txtHint ").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText;}} xmlhttp.open("GET"," getcustomer.asp ?q="+str, true); xmlhttp.send(); }window.onload = function() { document.getElementsByName(' customers ')[0].onchange();}; </script> <!--[][][][][][][][] Job Ship Site Script --> <script type="text/javascript"> function show Shipto (str) {var xmlhttp; if (str=="") {document.getElementById(" txtHint2 ").innerHTML=""; return;} if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();} else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");} xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() {if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) {document.getElementById(" txtHint2 ").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText;}} xmlhttp.open("GET"," getshipsite.asp ?q="+str, true); xmlhttp.send(); }window.onload = function() { document.getElementsByName( 'shipsites ')[0].onchange();}; </script> Hi I've had this script for a few years which I use to make a search box, it adds the user's search to the end of a url, so you can make a search box for Google or pretty much anything. If the user clicks on submit ('Find') without selecting a pull down option I like the script to alert something like 'select a site' or if they don't enter any keyword to alert 'enter a keyword', however when either of these happens, the alert box needs to be clicked several times to get rid of the alert. so I'm wondering if the script is running in some kind of loop.... The script does what I wat I just want to make the alert boxes go after the first 'click' to hide them... hope this makes sense here's the script, thanks for any ideas folks.. --------------------- ---------------- searchdata.js ---------------- [CODE] function addplus(items) { var plussed = ""; for (var t = 1 ; t <= items.length ; t++) { if (items.substring(t-1,t) == " ") { plussed+="+"; } else { plussed+=items.substring(t-1,t); } } return plussed; } function searchdata() { var words; words = document.getElementById("querydata").value; var searchitems; searchitems=addplus(words); var index; index = document.getElementById("subjectdata").selectedIndex; collection = document.getElementById("subjectdata").value; if (document.getElementById("subjectdata").value == "null" || document.getElementById("subjectdata").value == "") {alert("\nSelect a site to search");} else { var site; site = document.getElementById("subjectdata").value; site+=searchitems; if (notEmpty(searchitems)) { window.open("","newwin","status=0,resizable=1, menubar=1, toolbar=1, scrollbars=1, location=1, directories=0, width=900, height=600, top=200, left=200"); window.open(site,"newwin"); } } } function notEmpty(word) { if (word == "" || word == null) { alert("\nEnter a keyword to search"); document.getElementById("querydata").focus(); return false; } else { return true; } } [CODE] ----------------------------------------------------------------- the form to display the search box --------------------------------- [CODE] <script src="searchdata.js" type="text/javascript"></script > <form id="searchform" onsubmit="searchdata()" action="javascript:searchdata()" method="get"> <select id="subjectdata"> <optgroup> <option select="selected" value="null">Choose coverage</option> <option value="http://www.statistics.gov.uk/hub/search/index.html?newquery=">National Statistics</option> <option value="http://www.intute.ac.uk/cgi-bin/search.pl?Search=Search&limit=0&subject=Statistics&term1=">Statistics & Data on the WWW</option> </optgroup> </select> <input id="querydata" value="type here" /> <input onkeypress="searchdata()" onclick="searchdata()" type="submit" value="Find" /> </form> [CODE] I've been doing some research on javascript's impact on the time it takes for a page to load, as defined by firebug's "Net" tab's "onload" demarcation (the red line). It seems that aside from dynamic data that's not part of the HTML, enabling javascript always slows down the page. I've checked wikipedia, yahoo, digg, even google; a javascript-enabled loading of each site shows a later onload() event compared to loading the same site without javascript enabled. My question: Can anyone think of a site that loads faster with javascript than it does without javascript? ok well here's what i want to do i have a bbcode for download links on my forum when this bbcode is parsed, it will display a link under the download link BUT only for the first 3 links so basically i would need a javascript with a counter, that will display some text if the counter is > 3 and then add +1 to the counter normally i would EASILY do this with php, but i can't (bbcodes are parsed not parsed by server on phpbb, and you can't use php code in bbcodes) And since i'm a total newbie with javascript, i need to come here and ask this stupid question :/ thanks for your help! if you still don't understand what i want to do, here is how it would look in php if i could include this code in my phpbb custom bbcode: Code: <? if (empty($compteur)) { $compteur = "1"; } if ($compteur < 4) { echo "bla blah blah"; $compteur = $compteur+1; } ?> |
