JavaScript - How Can I Make Divs Appear Only If The Page Reaches A Certain Height?
I don't want my sidebar columns to be too long when the main content is shorter. Is there any way (javascript? jquery? something else?) to only let certain divs load when the main content reaches a certain height?
Similar TutorialsHi, I need to re-size a div to be 100% of the browser but taking into account the height of an existing header div. Currently it works but it doesn't factor the height of the above header div, and therefore scrolls off the page (the height of the header div) I need to manipulate ( subtract the height value of the header) in the javascript somehow. BUT there is a issue when i started using the script in the script the width and height can be in px like width 500 but it can't be made to width 100% when i make it 100% the script stops working. I can't use px or any other thing except 100% as i want the flash to increase its width and height with the change in screen resolution. Here is the script, you can make a demo html file out of it for testing purposes, if you don't want to make one i am ready to provide a demo page too, please leave a comment for it. Thank you ^_^ Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Pre-roll Example page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://files.cryoffalcon.com/woro/preroll.dev.js"></script> <style> .gamecontent {width:923px;padding:0px;margin:0px auto 0px auto;background-color:#FFF;} .gamecontent .gamewrapper {margin:0px auto 0px auto;} .gamecontent .game {float:left;margin:0px auto 0px auto;padding:0px;overflow:hidden;width:1px;height:1px} .gamecontent .ad {display:none;width:300px;height:300px;margin:0px auto 0px auto;padding:50px auto 0px auto;text-align:center;font-size:10px} .gamecontent .ad #progress {width:200px;height:10px;margin:10px auto 0px auto;padding:0px;border:solid 1px #E7B9D1;text-align:left;} .gamecontent .ad #pbar {width:0px;height:10px;background-color:#CCC;} .gamecontent .ad #pskip {text-align:center;} .medrectangle {width:300px;height:250px;border:none} </style> </head> <body> <div class="gamecontent"> <div class="gamewrapper" style="height:640px;width:640px;"> <div class="game" id="gameframe"></div> <div id="adframe" class="ad"> <div>Advertisement</div> <div id="plad"></div> <div id="progress"></div> </div> <noscript> <div> <!--Game embed code should be placed here here--> </div> </noscript> </div> </div> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var af = 'adframe'; var gf = 'gameframe'; var gid = 'gameswf'; var adinvoke = '<iframe class="medrectangle" src="<!--to show my logo or ad-->" scrolling="no"></iframe>'; function skipad() { $('#plad').html('<div></div>'); $('#'+af).hide(); $('#'+gf).css('width','640px'); $('#'+gf).css('height','640px'); } $('#gameframe').preloadad( { // calls the init method swf : 'http://games.balloontowerdefense.net/b/balloon_tower_defense_4_expansion.swf', width : 640, height : 640, gameid : gid, gameframe : gf, adframe : af, adcode : adinvoke, pltime : 10000, gametype : 'swf', base :'http://games.balloontowerdefense.net/b/', skiptxt : 'Click here to show the game', showad :'1' }); </script> </body> </html> in the above code the 640 width and height is the issue, as it doesn't work with 100% values, i was wondering how to make it work with 100% width and height. I would like the "search results" to be opened onto a new page; I have a feeling the results page would contain all the hidden divs and a form of JS would need to be used to "pass" the search data to the new page and thus perform the search and display the corresponding div. - Any help is appreciated here code and demo site below. the user's window height if it isn't already. In the same code I also use a condition that if the body is bigger than the user's window, the content has a padding to stop it going over the grass. The reason I need to do the resize is because I have a background image that needs to sit at the very bottom of the page (with no bar or gap below it). The reason the padding can only exist when the body is bigger than the window is because it will put a scrollbar on pages that shouldn't have them. It works great, but the only trouble is that if somebody decides to resize their window on a page that fits in it - it breaks. This is my script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function() { stretch_portal_content(); $(window).resize( stretch_portal_content ); }); function stretch_portal_content() { // if the body isn't at least as big as the user's window - force it to be if( $(window).height() > $('body').height() ) { $( '#wrapper' ).height( $(window).height() - ( $('body').height() - $('#wrapper').height() ) ); } // if the content goes beyond the window make sure it doesn't go beyond the grass at the bottom if( $(window).height() < $('#wrapper').height() ) { $( '#wrapper' ).css("padding-bottom", '130px'); } } </script> I've been scratching my head over this for hours but haven't come up with a solution. I want to put a registration form in it ( ajax registration ) when the popup appear , around it will became dark how can I do so ? thanks Hello, first, I'm new here and I hope you can help me The problem is that I'm making a script and I need to have the information of a website on the script which is in a different document. The code of the website is similar to this: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var name = prompt("Put here your name"); var surname = prompt("Put here your surname"); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> But I want to give the value of the name and surname to the vars of another script: Code: var name = "What I have to put here to get the info of the web?"; var surname = "What I have to put here to get the info of the web?"; document.getElementById("name").value = name; document.getElementById("surname").value = surname; document.getElementById("loginbutton").click(); Help please! I am not that great with web design but i am trying to create something like this site http://www.avrilbandaids.com/voteomatic/ I am trying to make something for my site - andygrammernation.com that is similar to this but with a different color scheme and with the mediabase link changed to vote for Andy instead of Avril. If anyone knows how to do this and would like to walk me through it that would be amazing!!! Thank you all so much!!! How do I make a swf pop up, on load, on a home page? Similar to the lightbox technique, I want an swf file to pop up on the home page when it first loads. I have looked into a similar type of script called "milkbox" but have had no luck. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated as I need this working within a day. Thank you so much and sorry if this should be posted in the Flash Section. I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link. I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code. So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have: Code: <script language="JavaScript">document.write(x)</script> Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster? Or is the difference negligible? Thank you, Peter Hello, I am currently learning JS and want to use the following to add a counter alongside the "Items Remaining" to countdown from 5 then once the max number has been reached my button to disappear and it say "finished". You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code. What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes. I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this). I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page. Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file. Please help me Thanks I have a php file lets say file1.php, that printing a variable, its dynamic numbers output that already always increasing, like private message numbers that coming or others : PHP Code: <?php echo $variable ?> i want to put that variable output, in another files page title, lets say file2.php or file3.html, in the front of the another files page titles, and auto refresh every x seconds, maybe like this : Quote: (1) - another text in the page title after x seconds, get a private message Quote: (2) - another text in the page title after another x seconds, get another private message Quote: (3) - another text in the page title or its ok if just like this, only the variable, without the another text in the page title Quote: (1) please share your knowledge to make it, maybe using javascript, jquery or others Here are the coding.. This is picture that which i wan.. Thanks! Hello, I'm learning javascript, and was wondering if it was Possible to have buttons/links that you click, the whole page fades out, and then fade's in, with different stuff. here are my ideas for just changing the stuff Text: 1. having a javascript src file to start, and then when the button is clicked, that is formatted to white, the text layer is moved down, and a new javascript file is loaded? 2.variables? any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Cookies, whatever this forum gives out, you may receive! So I have a few divs that I'm hiding and showing whenever a you click on a link. So I'm a newbie at JavaScript and this is the best way I know how to do this. var divElement = ''; function show(divElement) { if(divElement == 'add') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='none'; } else if(divElement == 'edit') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='none'; } else if (divElement == 'images') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='none'; } else if(divElement == 'pending') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='none'; } else if(divElement == 'upload') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='none'; } else if(divElement == 'delete') { document.getElementById('uploadImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('addTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('editTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('tutorialsImages').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('pendingTutorial').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('deletedTutorial').style.display='block'; } } That is a awful lot of code to do just a few simple things. But don't get me wrong it works... I just wondered if there is a cleaner way of doing this. Thanks, Jon W I have five DIV tags that contain a photo and brief bio for partners of an accounting firm. I need to randomize these DIV tags (id="d1" - "d5") to display only one of the tags on each page load. Normally, I would do this with ColdFusion but the client isn't willing to purchase the language support for their hosting system. A sample of one of the DIVs is below. Code: <div id='d1'> <div class="subhead1">Shareholder Spotlight</div> <img style="float:left;margin:12px 10px 0px 0px" src="images/leonard_summer_photo.jpg"> <div class="subhead2">Leonard M. Sommer, CPA</div> <div class="subhead3">Managing Shareholder</div> <div class="body">Leonard has more than 30 years experience in providing tax, business and succession planning advice for family-owned and closely-held businesses. <a href="leonardsommer.html" style="color:#3d3d3d; text-decoration:underline">Learn more</a>.</div> </div> If someone could let me know how to do this in javascript I would appreciate it. You'll have to be very clear in your instructions as I don't know javascript very well. Thank you in advance for your response! |
