JavaScript - How To Add Error Message To This Function

it basically updates the div tag: Code: <tr>

i wanted to add an error message to it, that comes up underneath the <div id="responsecontainer" align="center"></div> that says "Error" with an id number next to it, then when your mouse goes over it a box comes out saying "there was a problem retrieving your information. the game will continue trying to resolve this" and then underneath where it says error i would like it to say the number of attempts it has tried to recollect the information. obviously i would only like this error message to come up, when it cannot refresh the information. Any help is appreciated I have got a script for chat room from hotscripts however the author has left the site and I am not able to contact him. So if anyone here can guide me a bit? It is basically a php/ajax chat room script using javascript. My question is that I want to make log of what ever the chat is happening (even the private ones) as I am admin. I am very good at php and understand what he has done in php but I when it comes to javascript i am not a person for it. So if anyone can help me with javascript? And when it is not filled in, the border of the textboxes and dropdownlist would turn red, followed by an alert message notifying which field have not been filled in. These messages do not appear when using Mozilla Firefox. Hi, I have written a function to compare each character in startString with another nominated character (nomChar). If they are the same this character is written to outputString, in the same position. If they are not the same a character is lifted from the same position in altString and placed in the same position in outputString instead. I hope that's clear! Basically, I have rating scales that make use of radio buttons as each point on the scale. Each radio button occupies its own cell in a table. I wrote some functions that will highlight cells on mouseover in a color corresponding to its position on the scale (e.g. the lowest point is red, the midpoint is yellow, the highest point is green). When a radio button is clicked, the background of the button's cell and preceding cells in the same row will be colored accordingly. The functions are working well in FireFox and Chrome (I just have to add a few lines using the addEvent function to make it compatible with IE). The effect looks a lot nicer when I add a function that makes the visibility of the radio buttons hidden. However, I want to make sure that there is a fallback option in case the functions that color the cells don't work for whatever reason. I would not want the radio buttons hidden in this case. Is there a method whereby I can call the "hideRadiobuttons" function only if the other functions are successfully executed? Hi I have developed an internet mapping site which uses an html viewer with various frames to pull in a mapping window, a legend / key and a frame of tools amongst other things. It works absolutely fine in Internet Explorer version 6, but whilst testing it in Internet Explorer 7, my mapping window is not loading up the image. It might seem strange me posting this in a javascript forum but as the error is javascript related I thought I would give it a shot! The error message I am receiving is "Access is denied". After looking online, it appears as though this error could be linked to the use of frames; and those frames trying to access other windows with different document domains?? Does anyone know if new security measures have been implemented in IE7 which restricts the use of frames? My code is below; does anyone notice anything that might give this kind of javascript error? Hi, The Problem I get a error message only in IE when ever I try to call a function from an external file. I am using jQuery if that makes any difference and various plugins. Quote: Error: The value of the property '<function name>' is null or undefined, not a Function object. All the call work fine in FF, chrome, safari etc but for some reason I just can't get it to work with IE.
