JavaScript - Please Help With Java Script Code That Triggers Open In New Browser/window
Hello all,I have a website and I would like a pop-up window to promote a new website venture I have. I would like for the new website to open in a completely new window/browser when my members simply click on the index page (No link or Buttons). The code below does most of what I ask lol,but it..
1.Only opens in a new tab (in same browser) while I would like for it to open in a completely new browser "full page" menu bar scroll tab and all. plus 2.It seems to open each and every time the page is clicked, which will be annoying to my members.I would only like for it to open 1 time per visitor every 24 hours or whenever cookies are cleared. Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function click_on() { window.open("URL HERE", "_blank"); } </script> </head> <body onclick="click_on()"> </body> </html> I am no expert at this, and my knowledge is very limited,so excuse me if this is a simple situation.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roco Similar TutorialsHi Ive found out how to force another browser window to open at a certain size when a link is clicked. We have a scenario to launch a new browser window for a given HTML. I have the following approaches : Approach 1: my_window = window.open("", "report"); my_window.document.open(); my_window.document.write("<HTML> <BODY> HI </BODY></HTML>"); my_window.document.close(); Approach 2: var newWindow = window.open("", "report"); newWindow.document.body.innerHTML = "<HTML> <BODY> HI </BODY></HTML>"; Could anyone sugges Which is the correct approach ? Our requirement is to have this code to work in any browser? Thanks I have an emagazine i want to add to my website, the probelm is when it opens in a browser you have to sroll down the page, to view it all, what i was wondering is, is it possibe to create a link that when somebody selects to view the magazine it forces the browser to openin full screen mode so that it fits niely on the screen without the toolbars and evertything taking up half the page. Thanks Hi My website was recently ftp hacked and a file inserted into it - js.php - which seems to be some sort of advertising spam programme. Having spotted the file I have renamed it to hide it but lots of other sites are still referring into my site looking for this php file. What I would like to do is to *just* open a java alert box on the referring sites to alert the users that the site has been hacked and that they should notify the webmaster so that he can fix his site. The line referring into my site is - <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.mysite.com/js.php"></script> Is this something simple to do? I know nothing about Java or PHP so need detailed help. Thanks John I have a script that works in seamonkey(my html editor) but when I use it in IE8 it says errors happen. Here's the code (the first line is on line 7 of the html file): Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function enlarge(imageNum) { var numToString = ""; if(parseInt(imageNum) < 10){ numToString = "0" + imageNum; } else { numToString = imageNum + ""; } window.open("images/LgScreenshot"+numToString+".jpg","Screenshot "+imageNum,"status=0,height=675,width=900,resizable=0"); } </script> And the errors: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; GTB0.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; InfoPath.3; .NET CLR 3.0.30729) Timestamp: Wed, 10 Feb 2010 14:58:16 UTC Message: Object expected Line: 150 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://samssc2site.co.cc/Features.html Message: Invalid argument. Line: 18 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://samssc2site.co.cc/Features.html Let me start of by saying that I'm a designer, not a programmer so I'll apologize in advance for having very little knowledge of javascript. I found a free script for a auto-advancing slideshow that allows you to give each image in the slideshow a unique link. My problem is that when you click on one of the pictures the link opens in a new window instead of loading in the default browser window. I have tried to search google for an answer but my lack of javascript knowledge has left me scratching my chin. Here's the code in the head of my page: Code: <script language="JavaScript1.1"> <!-- /* JavaScript Image slideshow */ var slideimages=new Array() var slidelinks=new Array() function slideshowimages(){ for (i=0;i<slideshowimages.arguments.length;i++){ slideimages[i]=new Image() slideimages[i].src=slideshowimages.arguments[i] } } function slideshowlinks(){ for (i=0;i<slideshowlinks.arguments.length;i++) slidelinks[i]=slideshowlinks.arguments[i] } function gotoshow(){ if (!window.winslide||winslide.closed) winslide=window.open(slidelinks[whichlink]) else winslide.location=slidelinks[whichlink] winslide.focus() } //--> </script> and here's the Body code: Code: <script> <!-- //configure the paths of the images, plus corresponding target links slideshowimages("images/services/3d_meter.jpg", "images/services/3d_prototype.jpg", "images/services/3d_stage_renderings.jpg", "images/services/atsite.jpg", "images/services/netstar.jpg", "images/services/photo_manipulation.jpg", "images/services/powerpoint.jpg") slideshowlinks("/", "/", "/", "/", "/", "/", "/") //configure the speed of the slideshow, in miliseconds var slideshowspeed=8000 var whichlink=0 var whichimage=0 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=slideimages[whichimage].src whichlink=whichimage if (whichimage<slideimages.length-1) whichimage++ else whichimage=0 setTimeout("slideit()",slideshowspeed) } slideit() //--> </script> fooling around with it, I think I have determined that my problem is the window.open in the function gotoshow, but again, I'm a designer who has little knowledge of how this actually works. If it helps, here is a link to my site where I have the slideshow, http://gravescreativedesign.com/services.html All of the images link to the index page for my site at the moment for testing purposes, but these images will eventually link to different urls within my portfolio section of my website. Hi , I have a Parent window and an URL embeded in the page. When I click the url for the first time it should launch the page in new window and when I click the link again from my parent window, the child window should not be refreshed and it should maximise. Can some one help me on this? -Harry I want to change browser setting using Java Script. Any help Please. Thanks in advance. --sohan panwar Hi! everyone. I've run into a problem with a piece of script and being code illiterate I could use some help. I'm making a page with a few thumbnails that I want to use as links to open a larger image in a pop-up window. I found this piece of code ( call it a senior moment ~ but I didn't make a note of where it was ) that works fine in Firefox and Safari, but IE8 is telling me that there is an error in the highlighted line: Code: <script language="JavaScript"> function openW(mypage, myname,w,h,features) { if(screen.width){ var winl = (screen.width-w)/2; var wint = (screen.height-h)/2; }else{winl = 0;wint =0;} if (winl < 0) winl = 0; if (wint < 0) wint = 0; var settings = 'height=' + h + ','; settings += 'width=' + w + ','; settings += 'top=' + wint + ','; settings += 'left=' + winl + ','; settings += features; win = window.open(mypage, myname, settings); win.window.focus(); } </script> Code: <a href="JavaScript:openW('URL','TITLE',WIDTH,HEIGHT,'')">LINK</a> Anyone got an idea if it can be tweaked to make IE recognize it? Or a simple alternative script that works cross browser? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hi everyone, I was hoping you could help me with a faily easy question. I was asked to edit some script and I figured out most of it, however I can't seem to be able to make the links in my java script menu open in new pages. Any help would be appreciated. Below is a copy of the script. It's a very long script, so I just sent a section of it. Pleasse scroll down to the bottom to see where the links are (ex. http://www.korg.com, etc) Thank you, Paul. <!-- function mmLoadMenus() { if (window.mm_menu_1107110519_0) return; window.mm_menu_1107110519_0 = new Menu("root",150,17,"Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif",11,"#92c4f5","#2a495f","#2a495f","#99ccff","left","middle",3,0,500,0,0,true,true,true,0,false ,true); Hi everyone I am a newbie with respect to programming and this is my first post I have a small problem, probably very basic to everyone except me, and would appreciate and value your advice I have entered below a javascript I am using on my website. This script is designed to automatically insert videos based on keywords and works perfectly except that my visitors are taken away from my website when they use it. Can someone please tell me what code to insert, and where, in order get the script to open in a new page. I am aware how to do this in html using target ="blank" but do not know how to do it in javascript. Thankyou in anticipation, the code I am using is below: Code: <!-- BEGIN HostDomain --> <div id="HostDomain_DivId"> </div> <script src="http://app.HostDomain.com/script/HostDomainUtils.js"> </script> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://app.HostDomain.com/script/widgetTy pe/carousel/ptContentflow.js" load="fancyScrollbar"> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> /* Do not change the values given below. */ var HostDomain_Organization_Name = "MySite"; var HostDomain_Organization_ID = "xxxxxxxx"; var HostDomain_Feed_ID = "xxxxxxx"; var HostDomain_DivId = "HostDomain_DivId"; var HostDomain_AppServerPath = "http://app.HostDomain.com"; </script> <script src="http://app.HostDomain.com/script/HostDoma in.js"> </script> <!-- END HostDomain --></font></td> Hi guys.. Im not good with JS at all hello, i am looking a a specific javascript code for a school project. what the code does is it re-sizes your window to a specific size, and then makes it jump around to the four corners of your screen. a perfect example of this would be the rick roll site called http://www.20b.org/rickroll.html its best viewed in internet explorer, and will take effect after you allow it on the top pop up window. it seems that the latest version of firefox disables the window resizing and movement, so use IE. after examining the page source, i managed to find this code. window.resizeTo(640,625); window.moveTo(0,0); for (i = 1; i <= 9; i++){ setTimeout('window.moveTo(1599,1199);', i+"000"); i++; setTimeout('window.moveTo(0,1199);', i+"000"); i++; setTimeout('window.moveTo(1599,0);', i+"000"); i++; setTimeout('window.moveTo(0,0);', i+"000"); } the code worked perfectly on the macs used at school. but however, when i took it home and tried it on my PC, which has a different sized monitor, it didnt work right. my copied code section seemed to jump off the edges of the screen, like it was using the size of a Macs monitor, yet the original website works fine. this led me to believe that the source code seems to find the size of the monitor and adjust the position of where it moves. i cant seem to find that part of the code. any help would be appreciated Hi First sorry for my bad English! may any one interpret the JavaScript code below for me? A Device code ( a "random number") and the DVD code gives an activation code! Edit: Yeah, ok, so if i specify a size smaller than the current standard window, it'll be forced to open a new window. but what if i want a new standard sized window to open entirely? and in any case, i wan t amore direct solution where possible, thanks. I am using a window.open to trigger a mailto: command. I don't want the window to stay open so I try to close it right after. The default email client launches correctly, but the window stays open and I get the following Javascript error: Unable to get value of the property 'close': object is null or undefined Code: Code: var win = window.open(mailto_link,'emailWindow'); win.close(); |
