JavaScript - Changing Title With Html?
Right then!
I have a drop down list. The titles are really long. What I want to happen is, end user to click on a selection, i.e. "This is a really really long title" And then by the power of voodoo just the abbreviated is shown in the field. "TIARRLT" Can this be done by JUST HTML? Or am I looking at some JS here? If anyone could point me to a tutorial that would be great. Or if you have the code you don't mind sharing... amazing!!! Thanks all! Similar TutorialsHi there, I can;t figure out where to change the code/add in code I have installed Fancybox using jQuery and done all the neccessary steps to ensure it works as popup. However I can't find where to add in code/edit code to make my title left for instance or bold type etc. This is the code that calls the fancybox website is: http://www.soltoro.com/NEW/projects/elrayo.html Code: <script> $(document).ready(function() { /* This is basic - uses default settings */ $("a#single_image").fancybox({ 'titlePosition': 'inside' }); /* Using custom settings */ $("a#inline").fancybox({ 'hideOnContentClick': true}); /* Apply fancybox to multiple items */ $("a.group").fancybox({ 'transitionIn' : 'elastic', 'transitionOut' : 'elastic', 'speedIn' : 600, 'speedOut' : 200, 'titlePosition' : 'inside', 'overlayShow' : false }); });</script> How to I use the tipsy (http://onehackoranother.com/projects/jquery/tipsy/) to read from the title tag in the Code: <a href="#", title="Hello<br>World">Hello World</a> From what I can do is to use the tipsy code: Code: $('#example-html').tipsy({html: true }); The final code which I wish to create may look something like the following: Code: for (var i=0; i<10; i++){ document.write("<a href='#', title='Hello<br>" + i + "' class='example-html'> Hello " + i + "</a>"); } Appreciate any help offer This page: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/kayseyc...document2.html seems to indicate that it's possible, but it looks like it also pops up an alert window which would be annoying as hell. Is there a way to, say, once every minute change the title bar text? You see I have a text file of rotating slogans that appear each time you reload a page on my site and someone suggested that having them change even when the page is already open might be fun. I thought I'd look into it and see if it's possible. The site is http://opalcat.com. I don't know enough about javascript to know if this is possible. I am fairly good at implementing and installing other people's code, though, and can usually make minor changes to tweak things. Please let me know if this is a doable thing, and if so, if you'd be willing to help me work it out. Thanks in advance, OpalCat I am looking to use a similar method as facebook chat does, where it alternates between the original title text and 'friendsName has sent you a message!...' how can I do this ? So my functions are dealing with Time. The function delay_time() is called by clicking a button in html and the return value of the function is displayed in a textbox. What I need to do is basically if the value of resultingtime is greater that the value of delay time I need the value shown in red(ff0000) and bold and if it isnt then I need it displayed in bold green(00ff00). but Ive tried doing this in my javascript and found that I cant code it in there the way that I know. I really dont know what to do... I think that I have to do it in the html coding but I dont know how. Here is the javascript I wrote: Code: function delay_time(idealTime, startTime, stopTime, delayTime) { var delay_time = idealTime.value; var bigger_time = stopTime.value; var smaller_time = startTime.value; var resultingtime = subtract_time(bigger_time, smaller_time, delay_time); //if (resultingtime > delay_time) { //resultingtime = resultingtime.fontcolor("ff2000"); //resultingtime = resultingtime.bold(); //} //else { //resultingtime = resultingtime.fontcolor("60ff00"); //resultingtime = resultingtime.bold(); //} delayTime.value = resultingtime; } function subtract_time(bigger_time, smaller_time, delay_time) { var bigger_value = convert_time_to_value(bigger_time); var smaller_value = convert_time_to_value(smaller_time); var idealTime = delay_time; var resultingtime = bigger_value - smaller_value; return resultingtime; } function convert_time_to_value(time_format) { var hh = time_format.substring(0, 2); var mm = time_format.substring(3, 5); var time_value = (eval(hh) * 60) + (eval(mm) * 1); return time_value; } and here is the html code for the button : Code: ID="Button15" type="button" value="Delay Time" onclick="delay_time(document.getElementById('TextBox102'), document.getElementById('TextBox104'), document.getElementById('TextBox105'), document.getElementById('TextBox106'))"/> here is the text box I have the value going into: Code: <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox106" runat="server" Height="0.25in" Style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium" Width="0.75in" BorderStyle="Inset"></asp:TextBox> and here is the code from the box that I need to know if the value is bigger or smaller than: Code: <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox102" runat="server" Height="0.25in" Style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium; text-align: right;" Width="0.5in" BorderStyle="Inset"></asp:TextBox> please help. CHANGE XX to TT CHANGE zero in c0m to O becoming com CHANGE YYY to WWW hxxps://yyy.yousendit.c0m/download/dklxb2VIcVg1aWF4dnc9PQ first an example of what im trying to do: when logging in to a forum, you enter your info at the top right corner. thts where the login info txt boxes are usually located. under these you'll find a menu bar. if you're logged in, the menu commands/items arent the same as when you're not logged in. example of logged in is search. example of not being logged in is register. anyways under the menu there's the forum itself. u no, sections and topics. the table basically. this is wht im trying to do. even if im doing it wrong plz indulge me I know that ppl dont use frames much anymore. but just go with it. It DOES help to no how to do something in different ways. Ok, assuming you setup my pages, press submit. All 3 frames SHOULD go to 1.php BUT what happens is that the lower two frames go to 1.php. the first frame doesnt. It's the frame that has the form which has the button. If i put the button outside the form and press submit, it works. all 3 frames change. so i'm guessing it's got to do with the form itself. How do I fix it? Thank you!!!! sorry guys, please delete. I solved my own issue.
Dear all, background information: I did code a timesheet management system for my company with PHP where the user has to submit time entries and has an online form with several start and end times. The start and end times are all simple HTML select option dropdowns. I want that the first End time selection will be the next start time selection. Basically a simple dependency of the dropdown. My approach was that I want to solve this with JavaScript. In my php code I am echoing the following (in this select the end times are the values): echo "<select class='normal' name='$field_id' onChange=set_time_hour(this.value,'$field_id_js')>"; When the user changes then the end time dropdown the next field (next start time entry) should be changed accordingly. The javascript looks like this function set_time_hour(hour_value,next_field){ alert (hour_value); alert (next_field); document.getElementById(next_field).value = hour_value; } The alert calls are giving me the right values. but the document.getElementById(next_field).value = hour_value; is not working. What is wrong there? Do you have an idea? How can I change the value of a select box with Javascript? The select box values are already popoluated with PHP so I just want to select the right value.
