JavaScript - Setting Up And Using Javascript In Acrobat/pdfs
Hello; I have been trying to find files referenced in Acrobat 9 Pro help regarding using javascript in PDF files. I am waiting or Adobe to send me
a link I can use to change my password for their forums. Meanwhile, does anyone have good links to these references? Thanks so much JK Similar TutorialsI've not done anything with JavaScript before, so I'm not sure what syntax error I'm committing. I have a form made in Acrobat 9 for the Mac, and on it there is a "submit via email" button. I want the resulting email, which will contain the filled out Acrobat form as an attachment, to use field from the form to populate the subject line and the CC address field. I've bodgered together some code from this Acrobat user's post, but in trying to customize it, my script has fallen apart. I think it should be a simple fix, but since I'm so new, I can't see it. My script so far is: Code: // This is the form return e-mail. Its hardcoded // so that the form is always returned to the same address // Change address on your form var cToAddr = "fogharty@xxx.xxx"; // First, get the client CC e-mail address var cCCAddr = this.getField("Teacheremail").value; // Set the subject and body text for the e-mail message var cSubLine = "this.getField("CourseNumber").value; + "corrections form submitted by " + + this.getField("TeacherName").value; var cBody = "\n Thank you for submitting your form.\n" + "Save the mail attachment for your own records"; // Send the form data as an PDF attachment on an e-mail this.mailDoc({bUI: true, cTo: cToAddr, cCc: cCCAddr, cSubject: cSubLine, cMsg: cBody}); So I would like the subject line to read (CourseNumber) corrections form submitted by (TeacherName) Acrobat tells me I have a "SyntaxError: missing ; before statement 11: at line 12" but no matter how I tweak it, I keep getting that message. I put the semi-colon in, I take the semi-colon out, I put the semi-colon back in and shake it all about.... nothing. Any help someone could give me will be greatly appreciated, thanks Oh, and would there be a way to have the sent pdf form have it's name from a couple of fields as well? So that the attached file will be called "(CourseNumber).pdf"? Hello. I would like text fields in an Adobe form to auto-populate when an item from a combo box list is selected. For example, if a user selects "shirt," then a set of text fields will auto-populate with the budget figures for a "shirt." I am not familiar with JavaScript. Would anyone be willing to explain the first steps in the project described above? Is there a way I could adapt previously-used scripts and insert my own information? Thank you in advance for your guidance. Hi guys how is everybody doing today? Let me get right to the point. I have a 28 page PDF document. It is the paperwork for an eviction in Orange County Fl. My goal is change it to a PDF file that will ask pertinent information and then use that info to fill out the forms and print required pages. An expert coder on the Adobe site said this is not as simple as it sounds the offered to do it for 50 bucks. I dont see why this would be so complicated. Code: I used to know a little bit about HTML and PHP. This process would seem very straightforward if it was one of those codes. This is not the correct code I know but it would go something like this: I would create the very first initiation page this page would ask all the pertinent questions to fill out all the variables in the entire document. Plantif First Name =* Pfirstname$ Plantif last name = Plastname$ Plantif Street =....... Ect This page would also have qualifying variables as in: Does the renter owe you rent? If yes are you concerned about receiving owed rent? does the rent or have children? Are they the type of renter that will fight this in court? Has the rental property been damaged? Ect.... these will have yes or no check mark boxes Then the script would do its work and insert the variables. Insert < Pfirstname$ > Insert < Plastname$ > Insert <*** ect....******** > Then according to the qualifying questions it would only print certain page numbers. So in a nutshell variables, insertions, qualifiers, print. This all seems very straightforward. With just a little bit of help I should be able to write it myself don't you think? His response was its not that simple I want to use variables, I know each variable has to have a unique name. Is there anything else more involved about variable script code. What I'm getting at is the code should be about the same for every variable just named differently, correct? I also understand certain structure must be established for this code to work correctly. Once these structures are in place. Isn't most most of remaining work copy, paste, rename and connect it to the existing code structure. The insertion of the variables should be about the same create structure, copy, paste, rename and connect it to the existing code structure. Can someone respond with the basic code structure, variable code, and insertion code for this. If it is not this easy please explain why? So this is how I setup an item in the list and it works fine but I can't fine the syntax for setting an option group in javascript. Cheers Daniel. Code: Users[0] = new Option("Text to show in list", "Item Value"); Hi , I need your help in toggling the causes validation property of a link button depending upon the value selected from the radio button list...if i select "yes" from radio button then the linkbutton causes validation=true...if i select "no" from radio button then the linkbutton causes validation =false..help me out people I really thought this would work, a user goes to a page, selects a value from a select box then clicks a link to run a report using that hidden variable as a parameter. I am attempting to place the value in the URL to pass it. I'm sure the javascript is working, and maybe it's the HTML I've messed up - not sure. Here is the javascript (the alert does return the correct value): Code: function OnChangeDay() { //assign the day id to the hidden variable $day x=eval(document.getElementById("day_loc_id_select").value) if(x) { document.getElementById("test_day_id").value=x; } else { document.getElementById("test_day_id").value=0; } // test alert(document.getElementById("test_day_id").value) } Here is the calling HTML: Code: <input type="hidden" name="test_day" id="test_day_id" value=""> <select name="day_loc_id" id="day_loc_id_select" onchange="OnChangeDay()"> <option></option> <?= form_options($day_loc_options) ?> </select> And here is the HTML that should send the value, but I get day= (nothing) Code: <a href='/depts/edoptions/excel_extract.php?ex=2&day=<? echo $test_day ?>'>SLIP Data to Excel</a> Can anyone point out where I've messed up? Thanks Hello, I am having some trouble with this Javascript slide show. At the moment when you click on the thumbnails they link to a larger image in a seperate browser page. I would really like to customize it so that the images open up in a smaller window on the same page. I'm sure this is something really simple but as of yet haven't been able to solve this little problem. I'm quite new to webdesign and would really appreciate some help. Hello! I am playing with CSS3 transitions to show/hide a DIV element. The application will be for a newsletter which will allow a user to show and hide article content. There will be multiple articles. I have a <DIV id="article1" class="content"> and the default height is 0px. When someone clicks the "show/hide article" link I set the height to 250px. A CSS transition on the content class (height) adds a smooth change from 0px to 250px. I have rigged up a simple Javascript function so that when someone clicks the "show/hide article" link, it checks the height of the DIV. If the div is 0px, it should expand the content, if not, it should shrink it. It works when you click the link the first time (i.e. the content div height is set to 250px and the transition works). But when you click it again, it does not set the height to 0px in order to hide the content. I think there is something wrong with the validation of document.getElementById(articleID).style.height ? Any ideas? Thank you! Code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html land="en"> <head> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function showhideContent(articleID) { if(document.getElementById(articleID).style.offsetHeight = '0px'){ document.getElementById(articleID).style.height = '250px'; } else{ document.getElementById(articleID).style.height = '0px'; } } </script> <style type="text/css"> p { margin:10px; font-size:12px; } h1 { margin:10px; } body { background-color:lightgrey; font-family:Arial; font-size:12px; } #newsletter { width:500px; border:solid; border-width:1px; border-color:black; background-color:white; text-align:left; font-size:11px; } #header { height:125px; } #footer { height:50px; background-color:#330033; } #headerbar{ background-color:lightblue; height:35px; overflow:hidden; font-size:12px; -webkit-transition: background-color 1s; } #headerbar:hover{ background-color:#3399FF; } .content{ background-color:white; height:0px; overflow:hidden; -webkit-transition: height 0.5s ease-in-out; } #expand{ background-color:red; } </style> </head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <body> <center> <div id="newsletter"> <section id="header"> <img src="newsletter_header_test.jpg"> </section> <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. I have the following Javascript: Code: function showLayer793BKColor(id) { var txtObj = document.all(id); if (txtObj.style.display == 'none') { txtObj.style.display = '' txtObj.style.backgroundColor = 'grey'; } } function hideLayer793BKColor(id) { var txtObj = document.all(id); if ( txtObj.style.backgroundColor == 'grey' ) txtObj.style.display = 'none'; } These functions are used to show or hide div blocks. These blocks are, for example, specified in the following way: Code: <div id="l_gct5tekst" style="display:none"> <b>GCT 5. Eerste verkenning problematiek</b> and, for example, Code: <div id="l_Keuze" style="display:none"> <br/> <b>GCT 5</b> <br/> </div> The whole configuration works smoothly when using IE8. However, when using IE7 I get an error msg like "Invalid value for property". When I use the Color propert iso the BackgroundColor property I get no error anymore but of course I don't have a background color anymore then. In what way can I specify the use of a background color under IE7 ? Or is just not possible in one way or the other. Furthermore, what more differences between JS under IE7 and IE8 do I have to take into account ? Do I also have to rewrite my div block in some way (using some attribs ?) to cope with IE7 ? Thanks in advance, Diederick van Elst Hello, I need your help. I have the following drop-down box as an example: [== FRUITS ==] apples oranges pairs kiwi lemon How can I use the code below to set the value of the drop down without knowing its value number (3)? document.getElementById('BOX1').value = 'pairs' Much thanks and appreciation for everyones help. Cheers, J I cannot get the cookie to save, I'm pretty new at web designing in general. If you could, the name of the cookie be cirulcook, also any advice you would have for me would be great! Trouble is my code, and their supplied sample, don't work. It is supposed to display a very simple page with an image. When you click the image it is supposed to open up a new (very simple) page. Your help resolving this is greatly appreciated. My thanks, R Code follows... Code: <html> <head> <title>main page</title> <script language=JavaScript> var lastUpdated = new Date("Tue, 28 Dec 2010"); function getCookieValue(cookieName) { var cookieValue = document.cookie; var cookieStartsAt = cookieValue.indexOf(" " + cookieName + "="); if (cookieStartsAt == -1) { cookieStartsAt = cookieValue.indexOf(cookieName + "="); } if (cookieStartsAt == -1) { cookieValue = null; } else { cookieStartsAt = cookieValue.indexOf("=", cookieStartsAt) + 1; var cookieEndsAt = cookieValue.indexOf(";", cookieStartsAt); if (cookieEndsAt == -1) { cookieEndsAt = cookieValue.length; } cookieValue = unescape(cookieValue.substring(cookieStartsAt,cookieEndsAt)); } return cookieValue; } function setCookie(cookieName, cookieValue, cookiePath, cookieExpires) { cookieValue = escape(cookieValue); if (cookieExpires == "") { var nowDate = new Date(); nowDate.setMonth(nowDate.getMonth() + 6); cookieExpires = nowDate.toGMTString(); } if (cookiePath != "") { cookiePath = ";Path=" + cookiePath; } document.cookie = cookieName + "=" + cookieValue + ";expires=" + cookieExpires + cookiePath; } </script> </head> <body> <h2 align=center> Welcome to my website </h2> <br><br> <center> <script> var lastVisit = getCookieValue("Last Visit"); if (lastVisit != null) { lastVisit = new Date(lastVisit); if (lastVisit < lastUpdated) { document.write("<a href=\"WhatsNew.htm\">"); document.write("<img src=\"new.jpg\" border=0></a>"); } } var nowDate = new Date(); setCookie("LastVisit", nowDate.toGMTString(),"","") </script> </center> </body> </html> Hi and hope someone can help. I'm setting up a fictitious shopping page which uses cookies to remember what a user has selected. The products are photographs that the user can select either framed or unframed versions and I'm trying to put a confirmation box if the user actually requests framed and unframed versions of the same photograph. The code I'm using actually worked before I tried to add this extra functionality but I can't work out how to test for this extra bit. Here's my code and it sets cookies with names as either lulworth01 for the unframed version or lulworth01f for the framed version. The bits that work are in black and my extra code for this test is in red. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rog Code: function getCookie(name) { var index = cart.indexOf(name + "="); if(index == -1) return null; index = cart.indexOf("=", index) +1; var endstr = cart.indexOf(";",index); if (endstr == -1) endstr = cart.length; return unescape(cart.substring(index, endstr)); } function setCookie(name) { if ((name.charAt(name.length-1)='f') && (getCookie(name.substring(0,10))!=null)) { confirm("You seem to have placed orders for both a mounted and framed image of the same photograph.\n\nIs that OK?"); } else { alert("Thank you.\n\nYour basket has been updated."); x=parseInt(getCookie(name)) || 0; y=x+1; var today = new Date(); var expiry = new Date(today.getTime()+28*24*60*60*1000); // plus 28 days document.cookie=name+"="+y+";expires="+expiry.toGMTString(); cart = document.cookie; } } Code: <script> function myfunction(){ document.getElementById('myDIV').style.marginLeft++; } </script> <body> <div id="myDIV"> This is a DIV... </div> <p> <a href="javascript:myfunction()">Do it!!</a> So, what this code is supposed to do is, every time the user click on 'Do it!!', the 'myDIV' div goes to the right. The problem is, it works only one time, why? Ok guys, I am finally not being lazy anymore and going through my images and writing better code. But unfortunately it is proving to be slightly more difficult then what I thought. Basically, I cannot find a way to set a element ID using javascript. Right now I am preloading my images through JavaScript and setting them like this Code: goodAfternoon = new Image(400,200) goodAfternoon.src = "Good Afternoon.gif" But I cannot find out how to setElementId() to the picture I am setting in JavaScript, I can do it in HTML by Code: <img src="Good Afternoon.gif" id = "pic_afternoon" name="goodAfternoon"> but this code displays the image which I do not want to do with all of my pictures right away. So how can I preload images and set the Ids of them without displaying them? What I'm trying to do is to do something similar to what this person wanted on their question: http://www.webmasterworld.com/javascript/3338586.htm I already have it so when the user clicks on one of the links, then it changes to the active class. But now I would like to have the first link already have the active class (which is the effect the links will have when the user clicks on it) and then have the same effect happen thereafter the user clicks on the links. Here is the Javascript: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var hrefs=document.getElementsByTagName("a"); var hrefs=document.getElementsByClassName("links"); var preA=""; for(var i=0;i<hrefs.length;i++){ hrefs[i].onclick=function(){ if(preA!="" && preA!=this){ preA.className="links"; } this.className="active"; preA=this; } } </script> Here is the CSS: Code: a.links:link { color: #FFF; text-decoration: none; } a.links:hover { color: #96C; text-decoration: none; } a.active { color: #96C; text-decoration: none; } Here is the HTML: Code: <a class="links" href="#">Curriculum Vitae</a> | <a class="links" href="#">Teaching Philosophy</a> | <a class="links" href="#">Artist Statement</a> Hello! I have a superclass where I create a "div" element as a property and then proceed to try and set the element's "id" attribute in a subclass. Interestingly, if I create multiple instances of the subclass with different "id"s, they all end up having the last "id" I specify. I would like it if they retain the individual "id" I specify. Here is the code. Code: function Drag() { this.ele = document.createElement("div"); } function Icon(id) { this.ele.id = id; } Icon.prototype = new Drag(); var hello = new Icon("hello"); var goodbye = new Icon("goodbye"); Hi, I'm banging my head off a brick wall with setting up a 3 dimensional array and trying to loop through it.
