JavaScript - How To Iterate Over A Set Of Systematically Named Variables
I have a question about proper syntax in iterative functions. I want to compare one master array to a large set (180+) of other arrays. The large set of arrays to be compared are systematically named (scorespec1, scorespec2, scorespec3...). Each comparison will be made not one-to-one but through an algorithm and then have the results stored in another set of arrays that are also systematically named for later query. I not worried about getting the algorithm right just yet. I'm just not sure of the proper syntax to iterate through my arrays. For instance, this is but one of the syntax structures I have tried but failed to get working:
Code: for (i=01;i=186;i++){ if (scorespec+(i)[04]=unknownspec[16]){ resultarray+(i)[01]=true;} else{ resultarray+(i)[01]=false;}} My main problem here is I don't know how to structure the syntax to include the counter variable in my for-loop in the variable name. I've tried a variety of different syntaxes in addition to what I show above and it just doesn't seem to work right. What syntax should I be using? Similar TutorialsSorry I just realized this should have been in server side... I'm trying to create a list of twitter users with a follow button next to each user. The user names are being pulled from a mysql database. Here's the code I have so far. I can get a list of user names from my database, put it into an array and I can replace the user name in the first follow button. I need to sequentially replace the $row variable in the script at the bottom so the follow button points to the users account each time it iterates through the array? I'm stuck on how to iterate this so that I get a list of all the users in the array with a follow button next to each user name. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! I'm stuck and on a deadline. Code: <?php // Connect to database server mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die (mysql_error ()); // Select database mysql_select_db("tewxadb") or die(mysql_error()); // SQL query $strSQL = "SELECT * FROM users"; // Execute the query (the recordset $rs contains the result) $rs = mysql_query($strSQL); // Loop the recordset $rs // Each row will be made into an array ($row) using mysql_fetch_array while($row = mysql_fetch_array($rs)) { // Write the value of the column username (which is now in the array $row) echo $row['username'] . "<br />"; } // Close the database connection mysql_close(); ?> <a href="https://twitter.com/" +$row(text) class="twitter-follow-button" data-show-count="true" data-lang="en">Follow </a> <script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");</script> In this program i attempting to iterate through an array using the charAt () function and then store these element positions in a new array called elementPositions. The user selects a flightDestination from the flightDestinations array which is stored elsewhere, and what my program needs to do, is find all the array elements positions where the same flight destination name occurs in my array. I then need to store these positions so i can use them elsewhere, and i'm pretty sure i need to use charAt() but i think my syntax may be wrong - contained in the for loop. var yourDestination = readTheDestination(); var title = "<B>" + "You asked about Flights to " + "<B>" + "<BR>"; var flightInfo; var solution = ""; var empty = "Please choose a destination city from the Destination menu and then click Find Flights again."; var elementPositions = new array(); for (var i = 0; i <= 25; i ++) { flightInfo = flightDestinations.charAt([yourDestination]); if(yourDestination != "Choose your destination") { solution = flightInfo + "<BR>"; } else if (yourDestination == "Choose your destination") { solution = empty; } } displayMessage(solution); I wish to get the values for the 3rd and 4th cell of each row where these contain drop down menus. I've tried various ways but my code doesn't seem to iterate through rows of a table. I can get the values for the first row, but not the rest. There's isn't a fixed row size for the table as the user will be able to add and delete them. I've put the values in separate arrays but instead of the array containing say [10, 20] it contains [10, 10] as it just duplicates the first row's values. Here's my code that I have so far: Code: function calculate(){ var len = document.getElementById(arguments[1]).rows.length; var cMenus = []; var gMenus= []; for(var j = 1; j<len; j++){ for(var i = 2; i<arguments.length; i++){ var c = document.getElementById(arguments[2]); var g = document.getElementById(arguments[3]); cMenus[a] = c.options[c.selectedIndex].value; gMenus[a] = g.options[g.selectedIndex].value; } a++; } <button type="button" onclick="calculate('text','course', 'credits', 'grade')">Calculate</button> HTML Code up to the first dropdown menu: Code: <table id="course" summary="add/remove course details" width="350px" border="1"> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="tick"/></td> <td><input type="text"/></td> <td> <select name="credits" id="credits"> <option value="10">10</option> <option value="20">20</option> </select> </td> </td> <select name=.... I've tried adding j to the arguments or putting it in "[]" but nothing seems to work. I don't think the platform I'm using supports jquery, so help would be really appreciated for using javascript, thanks. [This is an updated question from my previous thread as I was unable to edit or delete my question] Hello all, As this is an active javascript programming forum...i'm really hoping i'll get a solution for my problem...please help me out.... I have a html: text inside a logic:iterate block like this.. <logic:iterate name="AllocationsForm" property="newSearchAllocations" id="allocations" indexId="myindex" > <html:text name="allocations" property="newStartDate" indexed="true" onblur="allocationTest(this, " + myindex + ");" /> </logic:iterate> i want to write a onblur event for this text field inorder to validate it. Is it the correct way i wrote or something i need to make a change in the above code inorder for the javascript to work. Can we really able to write a onblur event for a indexed text field that is inside a logic:iterate block. please let me know. Thanks in advance. Let's say I'm defining an object and I want the constructor to take one input and ten save it. I'd like to do something like this: function apple(color) { this.color = arguments.color; } But of course that doesn't work because arguments isn't a scope. My question is, is there a scope I can use. What I've been doing instead is this: function apple(new_color) {this.color = new_color;} But that just seems less than perfectly pretty. Hi guys! As title says I need to create variable named with value of other variable! So is that possible? What exactly I need is something like this: Code: for(var i=0; i<11; i++){ var Img[i] = "" } Hi I am trying to create a page that has a couple of pop-up overlay boxes from a couple of links, Everything is working ok I think except for a problem on a browser resize. The original code I found : ( http://kalyanchakravarthy.net/?p=208 ) was created or only one window so the resize code controls both windows, when I think need each one controlled separately. The resize code will make a closed overlay box appear. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. I have a website that sells a product through a third party merchant - ie a customer clicks my "buy now" button and they are transfered to the merchants payment processing page. once the transaction is complete the customer is sent back to my thank you page where I give them some extra stuff for free. All pretty normal I guess. The problem is this - The merchant sends back some url parameters when they transfer the customer to the thank you page and I would now like to use the "customer name" parameter to personalise the thank you page to test if this makes any difference to my return rate. Now, whilst I am not a complete newbie I haven't got a clue how to achieve this. What I want to do is have the page display: "Hello [customer] .....etc..." The customer name parameter is passed as "cname" and is one of about a dozen passed seperated, presumably, by "&" Thanks for any help! Paul Noob here. Thank you. hello i am editing a javascript game and im trying to get a heading (h1) to display the value of a variable in a javascript function however everything i have tried always causes an error. Any help will be apreciated. I wrote a script: when the same button is clicked for the first time, it should give a message "Hello World", for the second time "hello Earth". The script is not working. I don't want anybody to re-write the script, but to look at how i define variables and tell me where I am wrong. I think, this is where the main error is. my current script just outputs the message "hello world". my assumption is that functions can alter the value of a global variable. Thank you very much. I wish someone could help me out. Thanks. I have actually found a free script named "Image Flow" (http://finnrudolph.de/ImageFlow/Examples) on the website. Then, I have uploaded it to my web server. Everything was fine and functioning well. I would like to add in new Var (to make new window appears after clicking) according to the codes given but failed to do so. The codes given are A) Code: var target_1 = new ImageFlow(); target_1.init({ ImageFlowID: 'target_1,' onClick: function() {window.open(this.url, '_blank');} }); Then, I just added the above code into imageflow.JS and imageflow.packed.JS. (I have attached the file below) Original: Code: domReady(function() { var instanceOne = new ImageFlow(); instanceOne.init({ ImageFlowID:'myImageFlow' }); }); After amendment: Code: domReady(function() { var instanceOne = new ImageFlow(); instanceOne.init({ ImageFlowID:'myImageFlow' }); var target_1 = new ImageFlow(); target_1.init({ ImageFlowID: 'target_1,' onClick: function() {window.open(this.url, '_blank');} }); }); However, no pictures were loaded after that. Does it involve more than just "copy and paste"? Or what have I done incorrectly? Sorry to disturb you. Hello, I am using javascript to dynamically edit a form and have run into some problems. In this excerpt of code "x" is already defined, "num" is already defined, and "eval(q)" is just pointing to the proper field in the proper form. Code: eval(q).onkeydown=function onkeydown(event) { checkLength(event,x,num,5); }; Now the problem is, it is literally calling the function with "x" and "num" instead of their values. I tried "eval(x)" and "eval(num)" but that literally calls it with that whole statement as the parameter. How can I call this with the actual values inside of x and num? Thank you. Is it possible to use an onload parameter to call the JavaScript function to run after it has loaded? If there is a better method to get remotely created variables into a JavaScript function, besides using the url, please let me know. Thanks |
