JavaScript - Opening Window In Javascript
Hey Guys,
I feel like a complete idiot posting this, but I clearly am missing something. I'm trying to open a window with the specs below but all it does is open a standard sized window. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Code: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript"> function open_window() { window.open ('https://domain.com/document.php','newwindow',config='height=418,width=590,toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no') } </SCRIPT> <p><a onclick="open_window()"><img src="images/image.png" width="142" height="113" /></a></p> Similar Tutorialshello everybody i need your help and experience for having code to show ( overlay / modal window ) to the user when closing or navigating away from the page ( i want put in this window facebook share to make the user to share the page in his facebook ) , bytheway i wanna use it in my wordpress in every post could it be happen ? Thanks for helping Hi Ive found out how to force another browser window to open at a certain size when a link is clicked. Here's the whole line of code including the layer, the javascript and the image, <div id="Layer6" style="position:absolute; width:10px; height:8px; z-index:6; left: 561px; top: 310px"><a href="javascript:;" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('navigation%20instructions.htm','','width=50,height=50')"><img src="images/info.gif" width="15" height="15" border="0"></a></div> How do I adapt this so I can also specify the x&y co-ordinates of the opened window relative to the window that launched it. thanks alot Masten I am looking to have a link open a closeable window that is contained within a browser window. If you click on the "sizing charts" link on this website, this is exactly what I am looking to do: http://www.bella.com/mapper.php?pageid=40 The window is contained within the current browser window, it can be dragged around, but not outside the parameters of the browser window. Is there a title for this technique that I can research? Not looking to waste anybodys time, but if I can get steered in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks is there a way in HTML or Javascript to open a new window and force it to be a new Window, not a new tab? and also avoid popup blockers??
I am trying to write a javascript to open multiple websites in the same window for Internet Explorer. However I keep getting the website opening in a new window. Here is my code. Code: var url = [ "http://www.google.com", "http://www.yahoo.com", "http://www.msn.com" ]; var interval = 3000; var startTime = 0; for (i = 0; i < url.length; i++) { startTime = startTime + interval; setTimeout("openWindow("+i+")", startTime); } function openWindow(num) { window.open(url[num],'mywindow','width=800,height=600,menubar=yes,status=yes,location=yes,toolbar=yes,scrollbars=yes'); } So currently, this code behaves like this. Every 3 seconds, it opens up a new website. However this code I wrote opens google.com in a new window, then yahoo.com in a new window and so on. I want it to open all the websites in the same window. How do I achieve this? say i have this url in my hand as a string, stored in a variable: http://img.youtube.com/vi/wgGh9RmO5vA/default.jpg i can copy and paste it to my browser manually and see a thumbnail. but how can i automatically open up a browser window and i see the thumbnail? without manually copying and pasting, i want to automaticallly open a broswer window with this string Hi, I asked this in php first, but they directed me to javascript forum... I have a variable that I obtain from a php code. This variable contains a link such as http://....... with this variable, say $a, once I obtain it with that php code, I want a browser window to open automatically. I dont know javascript. can you give complete code to do this? I haven't been able to find anything about this on here or clear direction on the net, so I'm hoping y'all can help me out. I have a dropdown list that I use to navigate pages on an external website. Currently, my dropdown list will open a new page in my current window. I want to be able to open the page in a new window. I'm sure it's a simple fix, but being somewhat of a noob to Javascript I can't figure out how to solve it. Here's what I have for the navigation dropdown: Code: <FORM ACTION="../cgi-bin/redirect.pl" METHOD=POST onSubmit="return dropdown(this.gourl)"> <SELECT NAME="gourl"> <OPTION VALUE="">Make Your Selection <OPTION VALUE="http://url1.html>Choice 1 <OPTION VALUE="http://url2.html>Choice 2 <OPTION VALUE="http://url3.html">Choice 3 </SELECT> <INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT VALUE="Go"> </FORM> And here's what I have in the header: Code: <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> <!-- function dropdown(mySel) { var myWin, myVal; myVal = mySel.options[mySel.selectedIndex].value; if(myVal) { if(mySel.form.target)myWin = parent[mySel.form.target]; else myWin = window; if (! myWin) return true; myWin.location = myVal; } return false; } //--> </SCRIPT> Any ideas? Hi, I am using Javascript to display options in a form with 2 dropdown lists. However, despite using the rel="nofollow" target='_self', the result opens in a new window. Help would be much appreciated. Code: // JavaScript Document function setOptions(chosen) { var selbox = document.ChronoContact_course_finder.opttwo; selbox.options.length = 0; if (chosen == ' ') { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Choose Option',' '); } if (chosen == '85') { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=68',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Professional Makeup','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57&Itemid=76',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Fashion Catwalk & Photographic Makeup Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=91',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Bridal Makeup Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=92',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Special Effects Makeup','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=56&Itemid=77',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Gel Nails Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=65&Itemid=88',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Acrylic Nails Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66&Itemid=89',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Spray Tanning Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55&Itemid=73',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); } if (chosen == '69') { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Holistic Massage Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=2',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Sports Massage Diploma','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59&Itemid=78',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Indian Head Massage Course','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60&Itemid=79',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Reflexology Diploma','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=64&Itemid=87',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); } if (chosen == '80') { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Teaching Diploma','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=81',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('FETAC Train The Trainer Level 6','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63&Itemid=86',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); } if (chosen == '83') { selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('ITEC Sports Massage Diploma','index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59&Itemid=90',rel="nofollow" target='_self'); } } And the HTML... When clicking on the "new window" button, an alert displays the input box value, then another window opens and displays the integers 1 through 12 and the amount squared. I would like the new window to obtain the number from the previous window so that the new window will display integers (and their squares) from 1 to the value of numval. Hello, I need your help, I have the following code below, and its giving me an error saying: "The system cannot find the file specified". Code: <html> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function start_ccm(){ var wsh = new ActiveXObject('WScript.Shell'); wsh.exec("C:\Program Files\WorkDynamics Technologies\ccmApplications\ccmMercury.exe") } </script> </head> <body> <input id="Button1" onclick="start_ccm()" type="button" value="START" /> </body> </html> There is nothing wrong with the location, but my best guess are the spaces in the file path. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Cheers, J Dear friends, I am using a Javascript which perfectly worked in all relevant browsers, including IE6 and IE7. Its advantage has been to be able to specify the window-size + to decide, whether there should be scrollbars or the option to resize it. It is also fully standards-compliant. It opens a new popup window and is triggered via the rel="popup" or rel="popup nofollow" attributes in the specified external links, e.g.: Code: <a href="http://www.codingforums.com/" rel="popup">CodingForums</a> <a href="http://www.codingforums.com/" rel="popup nofollow">CodingForums</a> The code however does not do its job in IE8. It follows the link, but does so in the old window, not a new popup window, and thus recurs to standard behavior of links. Here is the Javascript-Code, included in the header: Code: var properties = { width: 900, height: 450, scrollbars: 'yes', resizable: 'yes' }; function popup(){ var link = this.getAttribute( 'href' ); var prop_str = ''; for( prop in properties ){ prop_str = prop_str + prop + '=' + properties[prop] + ','; } prop_str = prop_str.substr( 0, prop_str.length - 1 ); var newWindow = window.open( link, '_blank', prop_str ); if( newWindow ){ if( newWindow.focus ) newWindow.focus(); return false; } return true; } function setupPopups(){ var links = document.getElementsByTagName( 'a' ); for( var i=0; i<links.length; i++ ){ if( links[i].getAttribute( 'rel' ) && (links[i].getAttribute( 'rel' ) == 'popup' || links[i].getAttribute( 'rel' ) == 'popup nofollow')) links[i].onclick = popup; } } window.onload = function(){ setupPopups(); } Since I am not an expert, I would greatly appreciate help to make this efficent code workable in IE8. Thanks in advance! CodeMat I am currently designing a website for our public library. I have added a card catalog search bar on the side of every page. Our catalog software company has supplied the code. After embedding it, I previewed each page to make sure it was working properly. At the time, it worked fine. Since then, I have added other elements to the homepage such as a Twitter feed and a Flickr slideshow. Now, when I attempt to search in the catalog search bar on the homepage, it opens two tabs, but only in Firefox. Our IT person from the software company suggested I make a copy of the page and strip the code down to see what the problem is. After doing this, I have made no headway. Even with the catalog as the only code left on the page, other than text, it still opens two tabs. The following is the code embedded on the homepage: Code: <div> <script type='text/javascript'> function gotoserver() { sn = document.getElementById('server').value; redirecturl = 'http://webopac.infovisionsoftware.com/stephenville/default.aspx?Title='+sn; window.open(redirecturl) //document.location.href=redirecturl; } </script> <input type='text' name='server' id='server' /> <input type='submit' id='mySearch' value='Go' onclick='javascript:gotoserver();' /> </div> I would appreciate any advice given. Thank you for your time. I currently have my code set to this: Code: <a href=\"javascript:if(confirm('Are you sure this offer is not working and wish to report it?;?')){document,location.href='report.php?offername=".$row['name']."&offerid=".$row['offerid']."';}\">Report</a> How would I make it so that: 1. It opens in a new window (target="_blank")?? 2. I can define how big that window is Thanks What i would like from someone if it can be done is when a page loads a another window will open with links to pages and then when a link is pressed the first window opens with the url of the link clicked but the navigater window still open so that the user can still use the navigator to navigate round the site and also if posible that there is 2 textbox one called title and the other called url and then a submit button and then it adds to the links in the page and is saved And philip M if you read this then if you havent already done so go to your private messages but i think that you have and your ignoring me so that fine if this post is in the wrong catorgry then please say with correct part of the forum.

I have this javascript on my page (that is an iframe). <script type="text/javascript"> var site = 'http://' + 'localParameter("site_address")' <!-- window.location = site //--> </script> Note: site_address is a parameter that's passed to the page when loaded.
