JavaScript - Replace Text With Images On Menu
Hello,
I want to replace the text headings with images. I have tried adding an 'img scr' tag but then the menu won't expand. I got the code from here The JavaScript Source: Navigation : Expanding Menu I would appreciate any help. Similar TutorialsHi there, I've been searching for an answer to this for the last few days but with no luck, so I thought I'd register here to see if anyone can possibly help. All I've been able to find everywhere for this is examples of changing images when rolling over them or clicking them, and I don't need that. What I need is a bit of javascript that will recognise some image paths on a page and replace those image paths with other ones. It's for an ecommerce website on a certain platform, using a customer reviews section which outputs star images based on the customer's rating. So, the images used (which look awful) are, for example, "sourcehere/stars_5.gif", "sourcehere//stars_4.gif", and so on. Just 5 of them. I want to design my own 5 images, upload those images, and then have the javascript replace the rubbish looking ones on the page with my own images. I thought I'd be able to find something quite easily, but so far all I can find is examples of mouseover events and so on, and I don't need any of that, just the entire image replaced with my own image. Can anyone help please? I'm a beginner with javascript so I'll need it spelled out to me! Thankyou for your time. I need to replace the captions with simple text for download speed purposes. This is controlled by a piece of Javascript written for me. I need to change the caption image for a text one. The site is here Frank alias effpeetee. So I have a site, It has a few paragraphs. When a customer presses a href, or a navigation link, I want that block of text to change to a different set of paragraphs. For instance Ive got a Div set for the main block of text with general information. When they click a link at the top, I want this text to change to something else, without having to reload the entire page or create a completely new HTML file. I have read on innerhtml and setting particular elements but I cant find any good online resources for using a simple link rather than a button to change a block of text In essence Set block of text to be element "old text" Set block of new text to be element "new text" ( all the while not showing this text on the page until the link is pressed) Classify href as trigger to replace old text with new text. BAM, victory! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello, how do I replace text throughout a page? I would like to replace: Code: <IMG SRC="../template/wysiwyg/uploads/image1.jpg"> with: Code: <IMG SRC="template/wysiwyg/uploads/image1.jpg"> removing the: Code: ../ throughout the whole page. Im working on a 2nd case and I could use some help I need to replace the content of the welcome box Code: <div id="welcome"> Today is<br /> Tuesday, May 29, 2007 <br /><br /> Born today<br /> Ian Fleming (1908) - Author </div> with generated text that displays the current date, and the name of a famous person born on that date. Including comments that describe each of the variables used in writing this code and the functions that the code accesses. How to get this to work? Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="01.js"> <h1>Welcome</h1> <a href="#" onclick="write(); return false;">Click here</a> <div id="info_here"> </div> </body> </html> 01.js Code: function write() { var a=document.getElementById("info_here"); a.innerHTML=document.write("Hello <br />" + "Thanks for clicking"); } Hello I have this snippet for controlling the number of characters entered in a textarea. It works. But, if I replace in this code the name "my_form" by "contact-form" and "my_text" by "message", it doesnt ! It looks like the keyword is " my_form ". You change that , and the script will not work! It turns out that I have to change those names because the form as it was already had those names my_form and message before I added this counter And I dont want to replace the names of the form in order to adapt them to this code snippet below. The question is why would the script not work if I have just replaced two words, which dont seem to be keywords of JS programming (my_form and my_text) <html><head> <title>(Type a title for your page here)</title> <script language=JavaScript> <!-- function check_length(my_form) { maxLen = 50; // max number of characters allowed if (my_form.my_text.value.length >= maxLen) { // Alert message if maximum limit is reached. // If required Alert can be removed. var msg = "You have reached your maximum limit of characters allowed"; alert(msg); // Reached the Maximum length so trim the textarea my_form.my_text.value = my_form.my_text.value.substring(0, maxLen); } else{ // Maximum length not reached so update the value of my_text counter my_form.text_num.value = maxLen - my_form.my_text.value.length;} } //--> </script> </head> <body> <form name=my_form method=post> <textarea onKeyPress=check_length(this.form); onKeyDown=check_length(this.form); name=my_text rows=4 cols=30></textarea> <br> <input size=1 value=50 name=text_num> Characters Left </form> </body> </html> Hi there, I am trying to create "sideways" sub menus off of my main vertical menu images. (Something like this example: http://netweblogic.com/demos/ddm/vddm-nomoo.htm but in the place of Menu Item 1, Menu Item 2, Menu Item 3 there would be roll over images.) The main vertical menu items I have are rollover images. I would like the sub menu to appear when you hover over the main menu item. When I attempt this using the above example, all of my other CSS and JS does not work. Any help on how to link my rollover menu images to the sub menu would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Here is the code for my menu (I have only included 2 menu items here, if you need more info please let me know): Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0 var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc; } function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0 var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array(); var i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0; i<a.length; i++) if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}} } function MM_findObj(n, d) { //v4.01 var p,i,x; if(!d) d=document; if((p=n.indexOf("?"))>0&&parent.frames.length) { d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);} if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n]; for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document); if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x; } function MM_swapImage() { //v3.0 var i,j=0,x,a=MM_swapImage.arguments; document.MM_sr=new Array; for(i=0;i<(a.length-2);i+=3) if ((x=MM_findObj(a[i]))!=null){document.MM_sr[j++]=x; if(!x.oSrc) x.oSrc=x.src; x.src=a[i+2];} } //--> </script> </head> <body onload="MM_preloadImages('images/buttons/teamandcorpsports.jpg','images/buttons/performancesports.jpg','images/buttons/flagsandbanners.jpg','images/buttons/home.jpg','images/buttons/catalogues.jpg','images/buttons/galleries.jpg','images/buttons/designown.jpg','images/buttons/dealerlogin.jpg','images/buttons/contactus.jpg','images/buttons/dealersignup.jpg')"> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="header"> <h1> </h1> </div> <!-- Main content --> <div id="content"> <div style="text-align:center"> <img id="pic" src="images/slideshow/slideshow1.jpg" width="600" height="600" alt="slideshow" /> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="slideshow.js"></script> </div> <!-- Site navigation menu --> <div id="navcontainer"> <ul> <li><a href="index.html" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('teamandcorpsports1','','images/buttons/teamandcorpsports.jpg',1)"><img src="images/buttons/teamandcorpsports1.jpg" alt="Team and Corporate Sports" name="teamandcorpsports1" width="224" height="37" border="0" id="teamandcorpsports1" /></a></li> <li><a href="index.html" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('performancesports1','','images/buttons/performancesports.jpg',1)"><img src="images/buttons/performancesports1.jpg" alt="Performance Sports" name="performancesports1" width="224" height="37" border="0" id="performancesports1" /></a></li> Here is my CSS code for the menu, not sure if this is where the issue is? Code: /* navigation menu */ #navcontainer ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style-type: none; /* removes bullets */ background-image:url('background.jpg'); } #navcontainer li { margin: 0 0 0 0; /* separates list items */ } #navcontainer a { display: block; /* achieves rollover */ width: 250px; /* list width */ text-decoration: none; } hi, I am fairly new to jquery and would like som direction on how to complete this menu. I have a list which has 6 bg images which have on and active state images. these are are currenly changing when you hover using the a:hover css. my question is i have a fairly large page and as you scroll down the menu follows the top of the screen but what i would like to happen is when the menu reaches a certain point on the page the menu item that it corrosponds to becomes active (changes to the on state bg image). i have an idea that as you scroll down the page and you get to a certain position on the page you would remove the classes for all of them. use the selecter to select my id and add a special class with that specific bg image on it. the only part i am struggling with is how would i determin how far down the page i am i know theres a function called .position() and you can use position.top. but not sure how i can use that to help me. if you could point me in the direction or just a hint that would be really helpful. thanks in advance Hi there, i've run into a bit of a problem, i've managed to get javascript to change an image when choosing an option from a dropdown menu, but when i try to get it to change multiple images it only ever changes one image... Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function changeWalls(what, whatimg) { if(what != "none") { document.images[whatimg].src = what; } } </script> <select name="Walls" onchange="changeWalls(this.value,'walls')"> <option value="images/white.gif" selected="selected">Please Select a Colour</option> <option value="images/WALLCC.png">Classic Cream</option> <option value="images/WALLSG.png">Shale Grey</option> <option value="images/WALLDO.png">Deep Ocean</option> <option value="images/WALLSM.png">Surfmist</option> </select> then the images i want are multiples so i want to change 2 of these Code: <img src="images/front_0002_front-wall-colour.png" alt="" name="walls" border="0" id="walls2" /> I have 2 questions. Can I have draggable editable images? I can make my images movable around the page, but I would like to be able to make the images editable and have the text follow the images. I would like to either have a drop down menu or buttons that can make the images displayed on the page then edit them and move them to my map location on the page. Is this possible, and thanks for any help guys. Here is the code I used for the movable images. Code: <img src="images/loconorth.gif" class="dragableElement" style="float:left"> <img src="images/locosouth.gif" class="dragableElement" style="float:left"> <img src="images/Loco east.png" width="80" height="36" class="dragableElement" style="float:right"> <p> <p><img src="images/Loco west.png" width="80" height="36" class="dragableElement" style="float:left"> I currently have an image and underneath it there are 6 thumbnails. When I run the cursor over them the big image changes. This works fine. However, I would like to have text beside the big picture that also changes depending on the thumbnail over which I am hovering. I have tried to work it out myself but failed miserably. I have tried forums, but can't find what I need. My code as it stands at the moment is: <script type="text/javascript"> if (document.images) {image0 = new Image; image0.src = "i/p0.png"; image1 = new Image; image1.src = "i/p1.png"; image2 = new Image; image2.src = "i/p2.png"; image3 = new Image; image3.src = "i/p3.png"; image4 = new Image; image4.src = "i/p4.png"; image5 = new Image; image5.src = "i/p5.png"; image6 = new Image; image6.src = "i/p6.png"; }</script> and <img class="img" src="i/p0.png" align="left" width="300" name="rollimg" title='blah' alt="blah"/> <span class="inverse-text"><this is where I want changing text to appear as I roll over thumbnails.</span> <br clear="all"/> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image0.src;"><img src="i/tb/t0.jpg" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/></span> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image1.src;"><img src="i/tb/t1.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/></span> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image2.src;"><img src="i/tb/t2.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/></span> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image3.src;"><img src="i/tb/t3.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/></span> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image4.src;"><img src="i/tb/t4.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image5.src;"><img src="i/tb/t5.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/> <span onmouseover="document.rollimg.src=image6.src;"><img src="i/tb/t6.gif" class="img" width="70" alt="blah" title="blah"/> Ideally if you could tell me how to update the above script and code, so that it works, I would be very grateful. Hello everyone. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm using the Disco Background Effect script found here that causes the background color of the page to continuously change. For my design I need other aspects of the page to change along with it. Such as some title Text and HR lines. Is it possible to call this script to work on other things such as images, text and HR lines? In other words I want some text to change color in time with the background changing. I appreciate any help you might have. Ron i am trying to make an online graphing calculator with javascript. dont ask how because i dont know. but there is an annoying error in a do...while loop. although it should break out of the loop when the |'s (absolute value signs) are replaced with Math.abs( and ). here is the code. Code: var initec = function(){ var rg = { } ; rg.matc = false; rg.i = 0; rg.change = function(equ){ if (typeof(equ) != "string"){ alert('Equation must be a string'); return; } alert("starting equation: "+ equ); rg.i = 0; do{ rg.matc = equ.match(/\|/); if(rg.i === 0){ equ.replace(/\|/, " Math.abs("); rg.i = 1; alert("1 "+equ); } else { equ.replace(/\|/, " ) "); rg.i = 0; alert("0 "+equ); } }while(rg.matc) alert("finished equation: " + equ); } return rg; } rg=initec(); rg.change("|8/x+7|-2"); the last 2 lines and the alerts are for debugging. as you can see, it is not finished. but still, it should work. i m required to script the coding in which if we select an option from dropdown menu a text should be apprehend in disabled text field.. i dont have any idea about javascripting so sorry for being so dump... i need resultant in this form Hello, I am trying to do an image swap when hovering over "TEXT" links. For instance, I would like to first have a "mainpic" in a div that would be replaced by either image 1,2 or 3 (depending on if you are hovering over"text link 1,2 or 3). I would use normal rollover "image" swaps, but would prefer to have the "trigger" to be "text" (for SEO reasons). I am just getting familiar with javascript, but do not even know where to begin! I have read multiple forum entries throught google, but could not find any where I could have "multiple" text links. I would so much appreciate it if anyone could please point me in a direction. Sincerely, Buffmin I found a regular expression that will strip my string of every html tag... var stripped = htmlStr.replace(/(<([^>]+)>)/ig,""); Well, I also want it to strip every thing between parentheses, square brackets, and replace " &# 160;" with a space. It would be really cool if you could explain how to do this as well, because the stuff in the above code after "replace" confuses me. I have no idea how that's working. Hi I'm looking for a very simple script to replace one div with another. I've found a few but they seem overly complicated with features I don't need. I simply want to be able to click on a div and for it to be replaced with another div previously hidden. If someone could suggest a solution or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in the div class "done" it reads 13/34 i want to compare these to numbers like this if (13 < 34){do something()} else {return false;} so i am trying to get each number by it self to compare with. var did=m[1].getElementsByClassName("done")[1].innerText.replace(/\/.*/,"").value; this line returns 13 correctly. var need=m[1].getElementsByClassName("done")[1].innerText.replace(? ,"").value; this ? the info that i need to get for the other number. i know how to do it if it were a letter but can find the correct way being that it is a / instead. Thx |
