JavaScript - Can This Script Be Altered To Continuously Loop?
I have a slideshow on a test page at this link. I want to change it so that the slides loop rather than getting to the end and rewinding back to slide one. Can I alter the code (below) or would it be better to just find another code?
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var currentPosition = 0; var slideWidth = 1024; var slides = $('.slide'); var numberOfSlides = slides.length; var speed = 3000; slideShowInterval = setInterval(changePosition, speed); slides.wrapAll('<div id="slidesHolder"></div>') slides.css({ 'float' : 'left' }); $('#slidesHolder').css('width', slideWidth * numberOfSlides); function changePosition() { if(currentPosition == numberOfSlides - 1) { currentPosition = 0; } else { currentPosition++; } moveSlide(); } function moveSlide() { $('#slidesHolder') .animate({'marginLeft' : slideWidth*(-currentPosition)}); } });</script> Similar TutorialsHow can I write a JavaScript for the following requirement. Thanks Hi all I'm well aware that I can't post assignments here and expect an answer, however, I have been staring at this code for so long. I feel I am close to the solution (to get the correct output to the browser) but I just cannot get it to count how many moves it takes. I don't want an answer, but a nudge in the right direction would be very grateful. As you can see from the code and the output, it will attempt to write to the browser how many moves, but only '0'. Hello all, I have a question regarding onmouseover on "a" tag. I currently have a list of "img" thumbnails which have onMouseOver attached to the "a" tag which wraps the "img". When the mouse is over the image, a "preview" of the image will load in another div via a javascript function, this javascript function has a jquery fadeto effect so the preview will fade into view. The problem now is if a user hover over multiple thumbnails quickly, the onMouseOver event is registered multiple times, so when the user finally stop hovering over multiple thumbnails quickly, the last thumbnail will receive the event multiple times and fades in not only once. Below is my code: function previewimage(loadimg){ jloadimg='<img src="../images/'+loadimg+'.png" />'; //stimulate a fade in effect by making the image has 0.7 opacity first $(#largeimage).fadeTo('fast', 0.7, function() { }); $(#largeimage).fadeTo('slow', 1, function() { }); document.getElementById('largeimage').innerHTML=jloadimg; } for the list of thumbnail images, I have: <a onMouseOver="previewimage('imagefile1');"><img src="path/to/thumbnail/image1.png" /></a> <a onMouseOver="previewimage('imagefile2');"><img src="path/to/thumbnail/image2.png" /></a> <a onMouseOver="previewimage('imagefile3');"><img src="path/to/thumbnail/image3.png" /></a> How do I cancel multiple event from running continuosly if the previous one is still in queue? I have a userscript that goes through a table, once populated, and parses each item. If certain requirements are met, the item gets flagged. I want to add more to the script, but for some reason once the for loop has completed the script quits running. The alert("1"); will now show. This is like this in both Google Chrome and Firefox Code: var tbl = document.getElementsByTagName("table")[0]; var tlen = tbl.rows.length; for (i=1;i<=tlen;i++) { var cell = tbl.rows[i].cells[3]; var value = cell.firstChild.data; var nlen = value.length; if (nlen >= 10) cell.style.backgroundColor="#0AFE47"; if (nlen >= 15) cell.style.backgroundColor="#FF7575"; if (nlen <= 3) cell.style.backgroundColor="#CDD11B"; var nDigits = 0; for ( var t=0; t<nlen; t++) { chr = value.charAt(t); if (chr >= "0" && chr <= "9") nDigits++ } if (nDigits >=6) cell.style.backgroundColor="#FF7575"; var charcount = nlen - nDigits; if (charcount < 3) cell.style.backgroundColor="#CDD11B"; if (nDigits == nlen) cell.style.backgroundColor="#FF7575"; } alert("1"); I have simple script for my website, I want to redirecting a package tracking and get data from other website that have tracking service, So i try to make this simple field text, once it succesfully work, for 1-2 times, but it seems the script is not complete fungtionally, anyone can tell me where is the incomplete parts? because i think its endless loop of redirecting, and i got error message from chrome/opera/firefox browser this is the script: Code: <label for="basicSearchBox" style="font-size:8pt; font-weight:bold; color:#444444; font-family:'lucida grande',tahoma,verdana,arial,sans-serif;">TRACK & TRACE</label> <form id="basicSearch" name="basicSearch" action="http://www.packagetrackr.com/track/parcelforce/" method="get" target="_blank"> <input name="searchTerms" id="basicSearchBox" type="text" value="" maxlength="200"> <input type="submit" value="Track!" style="background-color:#E5E3CB; border-color:#CAC594; border-style:solid; border-width:0pt 1px 1px 0pt; color:#71672D; font-size:.85em; margin:3px 2px; padding:0.0em; text-decoration:none;"/> </form> </div> Anyone can help? i really thanksful if someone can resolve my problems Just a little background on my problem.. I need to take a programing class to graduate college and I have never been good with code so I need some help. The teacher is asking for a script with a while-loop using rgb(..., ..., ...) that has to have the word Hello (10 times) in it, and the font color has to run from red (top) to green (bottom). The other question is write a script, using if-else to produce the following... A random number between 0.5 and less than 1. x is a decimal number between 0.5 and less than 1. We are using random number of the Math object This exercise requires you to put 2 statements in braces for the if-part and 2 statements in braces for the else-part. I have an array that I want to loop through and display the values of the array on the page as it loops (so I guess there should be a slight delay before the next one appears over it). I want to loop though until a button is clicked. Help? Hello, In the below script syntax, a simple table converts Celsius degrees into Fahrenheit, using the For loop and integrating it into a table. Code: <html> <head> <title>Celsius-Fahrenheit Converter</title> </head> <body> <table border=3> <tr><td>CELSIUS</td><td>FAHRENHEIT</td></tr> <script language="javascript"> for (celsius=0; celsius<=50; celsius=celsius+1) { document.write("<tr><td>"+celsius+"</td><td>"+((celsius*9/5)+32)+"</td></tr>"); } </script> </table> </body> </html> My questions are about the following script inside the <td> tags: <td>"+celsius+"</td> <td>"+((celsius*9/5)+32)+"</td> 1) why is the script inside the above <td> tags placed between " " ? 2) why is the script inside the above <td> tags placed between + + ? Thanks a lot for your explanation to an absolute Javascript beginner...! Ok, I'm nearly pulling my hair out with this one. I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together. What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array. What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created. Here is the test object: Code: test = [ { "name" : "Menu 1", "url" : "menu1.html", "submenu" : [ { "name" : "menu 1 subitem 1", "url" : "menu1subitem1.html" }, { "name" : "menu 1 subitem 2", "url" : "menu1subitem2.html" } ] }, { "name" : "Menu 2", "url" : "menu2.html", "submenu" : [ { "name" : "menu 2subitem 1", "url" : "menu2subitem1.html" }, { "name" : "menu 2subitem 1", "url" : "menu2subitem1.html" } ] }, { "name" : "Menu 3", "url" : "menu3.html", "submenu" : [ { "name" : "menu 3 subitem 1", "url" : "menu3subitem1.html" }, { "name" : "menu 3 subitem 1", "url" : "menu3subitem1.html" } ] } ]; Here is the recursive function: Code: function buildMenuHTML(menuData, level) { var ul; if (level == 1) { ul = "<ul id='menu'>"; } else { ul = "<ul class='level" + level + "'>"; } for (i = 0; i < menuData.length; i++) { menuItemData = menuData[i]; ul += "<li>"; ul += "<a href='" + menuItemData.url + "'>" + menuItemData.name + "</a>"; if (typeof menuItemData.submenu != 'undefined') { ul += buildMenuHTML(menuItemData.submenu, level + 1); } ul += "</li>"; } ul += "</ul>"; return ul; } Here is how the function is called initially: Code: buildMenuHTML(test,1); This is it's return value (with indentation added for readability): Code: <ul id='menu'> <li><a href='menu1.html'>Menu 1</a> <ul class='level2'> <li><a href='menu1subitem1.html'>menu 1 subitem 1</a></li> <li><a href='menu1subitem2.html'>menu 1 subitem 2</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> 'Menu 2' and 'Menu 3' don't show up! I'm sure it's something small that I'm overlooking, but any help would be appreciated. Hello... Thanks for reading... I chose to do the for loop because it was easier to understand, but I want to know how to do the same using the while loop. Here is the for loop I have, but I cant figure out how to change to while loop. Code: for (var i = 0; i < 5; ++i) { for (var j = i; j < 5; ++j) { document.write(j + ""); } document.write("<br />"); } output is equal to: 01234 1234 234 34 4 How do you make the same using a while loop? Hi All, I have two scripts which I want to try and integrate. I am using a nice gallery script to show thumbnails which are appended to a an image wrapper which on click of the thumbnail shows the larger image in the image wrapper, I am trying to implement cloud zoom which is a plugin which uses image srcs to then point to an anchor href to show another larger zoom image either in the same place.. which is what I am trying to do or in another div beside. I have had to set me img srcs up in a certain way to easily enter some product details. and I need to try an manipulate the code to make it work to suit my file layout. I am using a var= images [ with a series of file locations and info such as below { src: 'romanticabride/thumbs/tn_Shauna.jpg', srcBig: 'romanticabride/images/Shauna.jpg', title: 'Shauna', longDescription: '<b><H1>Shauna</H1></b><br><b>Romantica Of Devon <br><br><h2>Sizes Available:</h2><br> 6 - 32.<b><br><b><br><b><b><b><H2>Colours Available:</h2><b><br>Various<br>Please Enquire Below<br><br><br><br><a href="mailto:tracy@cherishbridal.co.uk?subject=Web Enquiry Regarding Romantica Shauna Bridal Gown"class="enquiry rose glow" >Click To Enquire About This Item </a>' }, what I need is for cloud zoom to work when the main image wrapper is hovered over which means it will need to add a class or when the whichever srcBig: is hovered over it gets wrapped by href to make the script work . one of my pages is http://www.cherishbridal.co.uk/romaticabride.html the cloud zoom script is at http://www.professorcloud.com/mainsite/cloud-zoom.htm.. I am happy to share a jsfiddle with someone or explain further or post some code. For those who read my other thread I finally scratched together the code to take a value from an XML file and add it to a select box as an option. Ofcourse it only does it once so I need to loop it. It's kinda complex though, here's a function line to add one option: addOption(document.people_form.People,name2,office2) And here's the code in the head: <script type="text/javascript"> //load xml file if (window.ActiveXObject){ var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.async=false; //Enforce download of XML file first. Thanks. Hello all. I am faitly new at programming and have run into a little problem. I want to create a script that creates 2 random numbers, stored in 2 different variables and then compare them to eachother. there is two possible outcome of that comparison, either they are different or they are alike. If they are different i want to randomize a new set or numbers and make a other comparement, also to keep track on how many times i have created numbers. If they are alike i want to display the numbers and how many tries it took to get a matching pair. atm it looks like this <html> <body> <script> var x=(Math.floor(Math.random()*6)+1); var y=(Math.floor(Math.random()*6)+1); //creates two random int between 1 and 6 var throws = 1; //keep tabs on how many times we have thrown the dices if(x!=y) { x=(Math.floor(Math.random()*6)+1); y=(Math.floor(Math.random()*6)+1); throws=throws+1 }else{ document.write("you have rolled a pair. Dice 1 is: " +x +" and Dice 2 is: " +y +" and it took " +throws +" tries to get a pair."); } </script> </body> </html> How to get that into a loop? a really confused newbie scripter |
