JavaScript - Calculate Future Date
I have a form where I have to calculate a future date (end date) from two fields. First the start date and then the number of months. So if the start date is 1/1/2011 and the months given is 12 then the end date should return as 12/31/2011. I can't figure out why it's not returnign a value.
Here's what I have: Code: function AddDays() { DaysToAdd=document.getElementById("DaysToAdd").value; startdate=document.getelementbyid("startdate").value; var newdate=new Date(); var newtimems=startdate+(DaysToAdd*730*60*60*1000); newdate.setTime(newtimems); document.getElementById("display").value=newdate.toLocaleString(); } Any insight is appreciated. Similar TutorialsI hope someone out there can help me! I am a librarian and am looking for a way to get javascript to display a simple future date for books we need to pull off our shelf. The date needs to be 6 days into the future. I want the date to display as either a hyphenated number: ie. 8-13 (for August 13th) or as an abbreviation of the month with the future date: ie. Aug. 13 I've tried this a number of ways, but I am just not getting the simple date format that I want. I need the script to automatically account for number of days in the month, etc. and adjust accordingly. For instance, if it was July 31st, I would want the script to display Aug. 6 or 8-6. I am not well-versed when it comes to javascript (read ignorant), but I posted below what I have managed to cobble together after searching online and playing with the ww3 school's "TryitEditor". Thanks for any help or tips in advance! Script below displays: PULL DATE: 6 days, on Saturday, August 13, 2011 Thanks! but I want it to display: PULL DATE: 6 days, on Aug. 13 or 6 days, on 8-13 Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html lang="en-GB"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <title>HOLD pull date</title> </head> <body> <form name="myFormName" method="get" action=" "> <h1>PULL DATE:</h1> <noscript><div>Javascript must be enabled in your browser</div></noscript> <script type="text/javascript"> var myDelayInDays=6; var myDate=new Date(); var oneDayInMilliseconds = (24*60*60*1000); var myTimeInMillisconds=myDate.getTime()+(myDelayInDays * oneDayInMilliseconds); myDate.setTime(myTimeInMillisconds); /* setTime() is an 'inbuilt' javascript function that calculates a date and time by adding or subtracting a specified number of milliseconds to/from midnight January 1, 1970 it can be buggy in some browsers */ var widgetDueDate = myDate.toLocaleDateString(); /* toLocaleDateString() is an 'inbuilt' javascript function that converts a Date object, according to local time, to a string and returns the date portion */ document.write('<p>' + myDelayInDays + ' days, on <strong>' + widgetDueDate + '<\/strong><\/p>'); </script> </form> <p>Thanks!</p> </body> </html> I have a problem checking that a date is in the past or future. Everything seems fine but the alert always comes back saying the date is in the past. Code: function OpenTimesheet(TSdate) { var SelectedDate = new Date(TSdate) if (SelectedDate > Date()) { alert (SelectedDate+' is a AFTER '+Date()) } else { alert (SelectedDate+' is a BEFORE '+Date()) } } TSdate is in yyyy/mm/dd format and looks fine, in both alerts the dates are written correctly, it just always says they are a 'BEFORE' date regardless. Any help with this one would be greatly apprieciated. I'm trying to find a way to display a future date in short format (as an expiration date) with Javascript. I've figured out how to do it with long format, but have no idea how to convert it and I'm not great with Javascript. Here is code that I found on another forum and modified: Code: <!doctype html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <!doctype html> <head> <title>Expires</title> </head> <body> <script> var myDelayInDays=6, myDate=new Date(); myDate.setDate(myDate.getDate()+myDelayInDays); document.write('Expires: ' + myDate.toLocaleDateString()); </script> </body> </html> </body> </html> Which displays: "Expires: Monday, May 21, 2012" I would like it to display: "Expires: 05/21/2012" Can anyone help?! I am trying to figure out how to calculate the date 30 days ago. I also will need to be able to change the interval. Anyone have a piece of code that does this? If you take a look at the attached image you will see that the person has the choice of picking a membership duration of 3 months, 6 months, or One Year. The Membership Begin date automatically calculates today's date. I want to be able to have the Membership Ends field correctly give the membership ending date based on what Duration is chosen. Ex. 1/05/11 + 3 Months = 4/05/11 Problem: The membership for One Year is value set for 11 because of a discount. I need to add one month to make the date correct. I've tried alot of codes and I'm getting no where! Thank you for the help! List Box name - "Duration" Hi All, My first question on this forum. I have a form where we are capturing the Members Children information. I want to insert age in years to a field within this table by calculating age from Date of Birth (DOB). DOB format is mm/dd/yyyy and is a datetime data type in SQL. The DOB is added by the member while registering their child. Is there an onchange script that I could use here. Is it possible to auto populate a field from an other field within the same form?? Does anyone have any code samples that I could use?? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Vinny I am trying to create a drop down menu for dates that starts with today's date, but allows people to choose 50 years into the past and 10 years into the future. Here's what I have for the years: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <h4>Select a date to see the energies for that day <script type="text/javascript"> var mesparaluna=['Jan','Feb','Mar','Apr','May','Jun','Jul','Aug','Sept','Oct','Nov','Dec']; function populatedropdown(mesparaluna, diaparaluna, axxa1){ var today=new Date() var mesparaluna=document.getElementById(mesparaluna) var diaparaluna=document.getElementById(diaparaluna) var axxa1=document.getElementById(axxa1) for (var i=0; i<31; i++) diaparaluna.options[i]=new Option(i, i+1) diaparaluna.options[today.getDate()]=new Option(today.getDate(), today.getDate(), true, true) //select today's day for (var m=0; m<12; m++) mesparaluna.options[m]=new Option(mesparaluna[m], mesparaluna[m]+1) mesparaluna.options[today.getMonth()]=new Option(today.getMonth(), today.getMonth(), true, true) //select today's month var thisyear=today.getFullYear() for (var y=0; y<20; y++){ axxa1.options[y]=new Option(thisyear, thisyear) thisyear+=1 } axxa1.options[0]=new Option(today.getFullYear(), today.getFullYear(), true, true) //select today's year } </script> <script> sacakindias() </script> <SCRIPT SRC=tzolkin.js></script> <script> armatzolkin() </script> <p><font size="2" face="Verdana"> <SELECT class="input_tex" name=mesparaluna id="mesparaluna"></SELECT> </font> <SELECT class="input_tex" name="diaparaluna" id="diaparaluna"></SELECT> </font> <SELECT class="input_tex" name="axxa1" id="axxa1"></SELECT></p> <p><INPUT class="input_tex" onclick="sacakinpersonal()" type="button" value="Search"><img border="0" name="pirav" src="blanco.gif" class="shakeimage" width="10" height="10"> <INPUT class="input_tex" onclick="sacakindias()" type="button" value="Today"></p></form> <script type="text/javascript"> //populatedropdown(id_of_day_select, id_of_month_select, id_of_year_select) window.onload=function(){ populatedropdown("diaparaluna", "mesparaluna", "axxa1") } </script> </h4> </body> </html> I am also having a problem with the month. I wanted it to show the name of the month, but I am getting a number (and a wrong one at that). Apologies... I am a terrible newbie with Javascript. Not sure if this is possible in javascript: I'm looking for two different dates (bill date and due date) on an invoice that are captured by OCR. If one of them exists, but the other does not, I want the empty field to be 14 days before (or after) the other. For example: if the bill date is 7/27/2010 and the due date was not captured, I want to set the due date as 8/10/2010 (14 days after the bill date). If the due date was captured as 8/10/2010, but the due date is blank, I want to assign the bill date as 7/27/2010 (14 days before the due date). if both dates have values, do nothing. Thanks. hi, I've got a problem and i really need help. this is my code <script> var y= new Date(); y.getFullYear() + '<br />'; alert(y); var year = new Date(); year.setFullYear(prompt('Enter the year','1990'),prompt('Enter the month','1'), prompt('Enter the day','1')); alert(year); var yy = y-year; alert(yy); </script> i want when a user write his/her birthday JS calculate the age. that's all I'm working on creating a custom calculator to determine the amount of money / credits users may earn from referrals. I've tested onChange, and it will work only when I have changed to a new field or clicked off that field. How do I make this calculate live? So if the current value is 5 and I change it to 6, it will automatically recalculate the new value. You can see what I'm working on he http://sheetmusichaven.com/admin/mys...calculator.php Note: The one I'm testing is the 1st Level field. For now i'm just having it display the date. I have tried many time to make the calculation to appear at the total text box. however, I fail to find where the problem is.
