I would like to add a fade in on the big image when the thumbnail is clicked and don't really know how to implement it. The big images are contained in a div called <#left> while the thumbs are within a div called <div class="gallery"> I have searched Google and these forums for a solution but haven't had any luck...can anyone help me out with this? Thanks J I'm having trouble with a Javascript pop up box not appearing on Internet Explorer. I have tested it with IE7 and IE8 with no success. It works on Firefox 3.6.3 and Opera. On internet explorer this yellow bar appears; However, once clicked and given temporary permission the page reloads not showing the pop up box and the yellow bar is still present. I have re-created the situation here; http://html.comuf.com/ problem.html is the page I need help on. The correct password is real which redirects you to real.html. I am open to using new scripts but this line/function is crucial; Code: location.href= password + ".html"; This problem is for a friend of mine who does design work, his client is having trouble with this. The pop up box must appear after allowed temp through IE, or even better no user allowance is required while keeping the password +.html code. P.S. I plan to stick around and learn after this gets answered! Greetings fellow coders, I am having an issue with my rollover images. The first image (when hovered over) is fine, however when I hover over the second image the mouseover effect replaces the first jpg. I have a list of 8 radio button options for people to choose one option with the last option being other - and then I want if the user clicks other that the text field box next to it becomes a required field and the form will not submit until this text field is filled in. If the user selects one of the other radio button options then the text field is not compulsory. I am using a linked javascript validation file which checks that all fields on the form which I have stated as required - become required, but I am having problems getting this "Other" button and text field to work with it all and not have the submit continue without this text field being completed! any help would really be appreciated! Here's my code Quote: <style type="text/css"> #box { background: red; width: 300px; height: 300px; display: none; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('a').click(function() { $('#box').slideDown(4000); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="box"></div> <a href="#">Click Me!</a> </body> </html> As you can see it's pretty simple, I've made the box slideIn. My problem is I want to make a separate button to slide it back out, but because I've used the "a" tag it's associating all links with the same function, how do I get around this? I'm sure it's really simple! Thanks Hello I would like to know how this is not functional. surely passing the function to another function would work so I can use the same variables without having to write it out again. The time has now come where i want to use it for client side validation on a form. I am able to validate most of fields however i need to validate a date to check it has been entered in the following format dd/mm/yyyy and that the date is not greater than todays date. N.B the date is entered into a text field in HTML i wrote a function with lots of if/else statements and failed. Im 100% positive there is a far simpler way to achieve my goal any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Code: function checkDate(elem, helperMsg){ var day = elem.substr(0,2); var month = elem.substr(3,2); var year = elem.substr(6,4); if(day < 01 || day > 31) { var invalidday = true; } if (month < 0 || month > 12) { var invalidmonth = true; } if (year < 01 || year > 2099) { var invalidyear = true; } if ( month==04 || month==06 || month==09|| month==11) { if (day == 31) { var invalidday = true; } } if (month==02) { if (day > 28) { var invalidday = true; } } if (invalidday || invalidmonth || invalidyear) { alert(helperMsg); elem.focus(); return false; } else { var dd = today.getDate(); var mm = today.getMonth()+1;//January is 0! var yyyy = today.getFullYear(); if(dd < 10) { dd='0'+dd; } if(mm < 10) { mm='0'+mm; } } if (day > dd && month > mm && year > yyyy) { alert(helperMsg); elem.focus(); return false; } else { return true; } } Hey guys, so I am a designer (not a developer) doing a site for someone. I am playing with some simple free javascripts. I have lightbox and toggler. Both work great individually. They are conflicting and everywhere online says to set the both to onLoad in the body tag. Sounds easy enough. But I can't seem to figure out the call for this script: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="../js/expand.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("h2.expand").toggler({method: "fadeToggle"}); }); //--><!]]> </script> <body onload="toggler();initLightbox()"> is what is seems like it should be for me. But that isn't working at all. Please help! I feel like I have tried every possible name with the toggler()... If you need more, I can point you to the site itself and you can see all of the (messy) code. Hi i am trying to combine these two statments Code: searchValue.replace( /\[[^\)]*\]/g,""); searchValue.replace( /\([^\)]*\)/g, ""); is it possible to put these two into one statment? also is there a javascript function which does the same as urlencode? many thanks Luke Sorry, I'm new in javascript and i can't understand what's wrong with my code.. I've spent some time searching for the solution, but i give up. For some of you may it be just a piece of cake, so maybe you can look at this: Code: <script language="javascript"> var n_pics = 3; var current = 1; var opacity = 1; var opacity_IE = 100; function fade(how) { if(how==0) { if(opacity>0) { opacity = opacity - 0.1; } else return; } else { if(opacity<1) { opacity = opacity + 0.1; opacity_IE = opacity * 100; } else return; } document.getElementById('fade_show').style = 'opacity:'+opacity+'; filter:alpha(opacity='+opacity_IE+')'; //break_point 1 var temp = 'fade('+how+')'; setTimeout(temp, 1000); } function main_loop() { fade(0); //break_point 2 if(current == n_pics) { current = 1; } else { current = current + 1; } document.getElementById('fade_show').innerHTML = '<img src="images/fade_show/'+current+'.jpg" />'; fade(1); main_loop(); } </script> </head> <body onload="main_loop();"> fade(0) means to fade out, and fade(1) - to fade in. on IE i get 'Member Not found' on break_point 1 and too much recursion at breake_point 2 can you help me? Having an unusual problem with the simple validation script below. In my script, I want to validate the username text field so that if the value of the text field (i.e. the amount of characters in the field) is less than 5, it would show a message in the page using innerHTML. The script works, but in a roundabout sort of way, or at least that's what it seems to me. Instead of making sure that the amount of characters in the text field is less than 5, it seems to disregard this entirely and instead make it so that if it has no value at all, the message will be shown. If it has a value of even 1 character, though, the message does not show. Not what I was trying to do, and I really don't know what's happened. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out a newbie in need. Code: function uservalidate() { if (document.getElementById("user").value < 5) { document.getElementById("userdiv").innerHTML = "Username must be six characters or more." } else { document.getElementById("userdiv").innerHTML = "" } } Code: <body> <form id="form1"> <input type="text" id="user" onblur="uservalidate()" /> <div id="userdiv"></div> </form> </body> </html> So, basically what i'm doing here is hovering over the h2 heading and toggling the paragraph text. What i'm having a problem doing is changing the h3 headings so that they toggle the same way...is there a way to do this within this function without ids/classes? Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#hdg').hover(function() { $('div[title=latin]').toggle(); $('div[title=english]').toggle(); $('#').html('<h3>English</h3>'); }); }); </script> Hello was following a tutorial online from bucky. and created a new example with different variables and such. Problem is im not sure if that's the prob or where to put it!! I tried putting it at the top and it made it so the whole template disappeared. I've tried putting it at various diff places and it messes the whole thing up. I'm lost! Please help!
