JavaScript - You Have To Refresh The Page For The Javascript To Work Correctly
I am sorry if this is a stupid question. I have never really used javascript before. I found some code online that I tried to piece together so I might not even be going about this the right way.
I want the background to take up 100% and resize with the browser. That works fine. I also want the text "welcome to the ahi life" stick to the bottom left hand corner and the enter button to stick to the bottom right. I would like these to resize with the browser as well. It all kind of works, except the first time you load the page the text and the button are much smaller than I would like them to be. If you refresh the page everything is correct. The url is http://www.ahiapparel.com/landing.html Code: <style> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #bg { position: fixed; top: 0; left: 0; } .bgwidth { width: 100%; } .bgheight { height: 100%; } #page-wrap { position:absolute; bottom:0; left:20px; width: 700px; margin: 50px auto;} #welcometext { position: fixed; bottom: 20px; left: 25px; } .welcometextwidth { width: 7%; } .welcometextheight { height: 7%; } #entertext { position: fixed; bottom: 20px; right: 25px; } .entertextwidth { width: 7%; } .entertextheight { height: 7%; } </style> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(function funct1() { var theWindow = $(window), $bg = $("#bg"), aspectRatio = $bg.width() / $bg.height(); function resizeBg() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $bg .removeClass() .addClass('bgheight'); } else { $bg .removeClass() .addClass('bgwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizeBg(); }).trigger("resize"); }); $(function funct2() { var theWindow = $(window), $welcometext = $("#welcometext"), aspectRatio = $welcometext.width() / $welcometext.height(); function resizewelcometext() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $welcometext .removeClass() .addClass('welcometextheight'); } else { $welcometext .removeClass() .addClass('welcometextwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizewelcometext(); }).trigger("resize"); }); $(function funct3() { var theWindow = $(window), $entertext = $("#entertext"), aspectRatio = $entertext.width() / $entertext.height(); function resizeentertext() { if ( (theWindow.width() / theWindow.height()) < aspectRatio ) { $entertext .removeClass() .addClass('entertextheight'); } else { $entertext .removeClass() .addClass('entertextwidth'); } } theWindow.resize(function() { resizeentertext(); }).trigger("resize"); }); </script> My best guess is that either the functions or some of the variables are conflicting somehow, but I have tried just about everything to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Similar Tutorialswhen I upload a new javascript file to the server and refresh the webpage, the webpage behaves as if the old script is on the server, this happens with IE and firefox, even if I shut the programs down and restart them, can anyone help? FF, Safari, Opera all execute this javascript code to refresh the page properly, but in IE version 8.0.6001.18904 the page doesn't seem to refresh on click of orange_refresh button. I have checked out a different version of IE8, don't recall exact version, but it did seem to work fine in that one, whatever version it was probably the latest now that I think of it. Check out code below any sug.'s could be helpful, though its probably a bug.. Then the value of the age is set as 0 in the textfield as 0 So can you please tell me why this problem occurs And please give me solution Thanks i'm working with a city select option, a hotel select option & an iframe. the hotel select option is populated depending on the chosen city which then updates the iframe src. this is all working fine. the trouble im having is that when the page is refreshed, normal f5 way, the hotel option changes whereas the city option & the iframe src remains the same?? this problem does not occur on a force refresh via control + f5 as then both select options & iframe src revert to their original state. Omar. I have a php file lets say file1.php, that printing a variable, its dynamic numbers output that already always increasing, like private message numbers that coming or others : PHP Code: <?php echo $variable ?> i want to put that variable output, in another files page title, lets say file2.php or file3.html, in the front of the another files page titles, and auto refresh every x seconds, maybe like this : Quote: (1) - another text in the page title after x seconds, get a private message Quote: (2) - another text in the page title after another x seconds, get another private message Quote: (3) - another text in the page title or its ok if just like this, only the variable, without the another text in the page title Quote: (1) please share your knowledge to make it, maybe using javascript, jquery or others Good evening. I'm trying to code a website that will read data from an Excel file (stored either locally or elsewhere) and input a row of data (searched based on a Drop-Down List) into a table on the web page itself. Every time I open the page (it's currently stored on my local drive, on a laptop running Windows 7) in IE8, though, I get the error "Automation Server Can't Create Object" and nothing happens. The Excel file doesn't get opened and the table is blank. Thing is, though, I tried opening the same web page on another computer with IE6 and Windows 2000, and the Script works perfectly there. I've been searching for a solution to this for a week, and some people suggested elsewhere that it's a problem with IE8's security settings. I lowered them as far as they'll go and enabled Running the Script Not Marked As Safe for all possible zones, same result, the Script refuses to run with the "Automation Server Can't Create Object" error. Here's the applicable lines of code: function loadData() { // try { var Excel, Book; var a = document.getElementById("projectDrop"); Excel2 = new ActiveXObject("Excel.Application"); <--- This is where the error seems to register Book2 = Excel2.Workbooks.Open("TestSheet.xls"); idTmr = window.setInterval("Cleanup();",1000); var sheet2 = Book2.Worksheets("Sheet1"); var b = document.getElementById('tableDisplay').getElementsByTagName('tr'); Excel2.Visible = false; var i=1; while(sheet2.Cells(i,1).Value != null) { if (sheet2.Cells(i,1).Value == a.options[a.selectedIndex].text) { b[0].cells[0].innerHTML = sheet2.Cells(i,1).Value; b[0].cells[1].innerHTML = sheet2.Cells(i,2).Value; b[0].cells[2].innerHTML = sheet2.Cells(i,3).Value; b[0].cells[3].innerHTML = sheet2.Cells(i,4).Value; } i++; } Excel2.Quit(); // } // catch(e) { // } } I'm completely stumped, everyone. Is it some obscure setting I'm forgetting to check in IE8, is my Java not fully updated, or what is it? Again, it works perfectly on my old Windows 2000 w/ IE6 computer, but not on a recent Windows 7 laptop with IE8. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you. Hi, I have a jsp which has a function gets called during the page unload. This jsp has a form with an action attribute to one servlet. Please find below the code snippet. ---- Java script code --- function logoff() { document.forms["FormName"].rel="nofollow" target="_self"; alert('Submitting the form'); document.forms["FormName"].submit(); } --- HTML form code ----- <body onUnload='logOff()'> <form name ="FormName" method="POST" action='<%=sLogoutResponseURL %>'> Whenever the page gets unloaded always logoff function is getting called. I also get the alert message "Submitting the form". But my servrlet does not get invoked. My application supports logging in with the same user id more than once. Scenario it works: User logs in. Close the application. logoff function is called and servlet gets invoked. Scenario it does not work: User logs in one window. Open one more IE window and and open the application with same user id. this can be repeated. Now when i close the application logoff function is called for all of the window close. But servlet does not gets invoked all the time. Sometimes it stops calling servlet. I have searched over the net and found one solution. Below piece of code will make sure form gets always submitted. -------------------------Start ----------------- function fakeSubmit(event) { var target = event ? event.target : this; /* Fire a submit event */ var fakeEvent = $(target).fire("form:submit"); if (fakeEvent.stopped == false) { /* Call the real submit function */ this._submit(); } } if(window.HTMLElement){ /* DOM-compliant Browsers */ HTMLFormElement.prototype._submit = HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit; HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit = fakeSubmit; } else { /* IE does not expose it's HTMLElement object or its children Let the document load so all forms are accounted for */ document.observe("dom:loaded", function(){ for(var i = 0; i < document.forms.length; i ){ document.forms[i]._submit = document.forms[i].submit; document.forms[i].submit = fakeSubmit; } }); } -----------End ------------------ But this resulted in script error while loading the page "object does not support this method or property" at line where document.observe is there. Kindly help at the earliest. Thanks in advance Santosh Hiya, I'm looking for some guidance on a part of some coding practice I'm stuck on! I've created a shopping cart using javascript, the items save to the arrays etc and it all works fine. If the user adds the same product again to the cart the quantity is added onto the previous quantity that is already in the cart. To check if the item is already in the cart I've ued the below code, but what it does is update the quantity for the first cart, and when it updates the quantity for the second item it updates the quantity but keeps adding the same product to the cart in seperate elements of the array as well (if that makes sense? here are the two functions used: Code: function additem(id) { itemName = document.getElementById('name' + id).innerHTML; itemQuantity = parseInt(document.getElementById('quantity' + id).value); itemPrice = parseFloat(document.getElementById('price' + id).innerHTML); if(numitems == 0){ items[++numitems] = new Item(itemName, itemPrice, itemQuantity); displaycart(); } else{ checkarray(id, itemName, itemQuantity, itemPrice); } } function checkarray(id, itemName, itemQuantity, itemPrice){ for(i=1;i<=numitems;i++) { if(items[i].name == itemName){ items[i].quantity += parseInt(document.getElementById('quantity' + id).value); displaycart(); return true; } items[++numitems] = new Item(itemName, itemPrice, itemQuantity); } } It may jsut be a simple mistake I've made but it's been bugging me a lot and I can't seem to fix it, any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated. Voting button on the poll in the left column works fine if you take the sharethis javascripts out. Why won't they work together though? <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.claimsheaven.co.uk/polls/admin/script.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript">var switchTo5x=true;</script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://s.sharethis.com/loader.js"></script> e.g. on this page: http://www.claimsheaven.co.uk/news/20120305.php i have a page named pck_rates.php which contains a form that go to the page update_pck_rates.php when i press updade data button in the second page i want the first page to be refreshed to show the new data's. i want to know if i can set a name to the page pck_rates.php and after the update query in the second page i will refresh the pck_rates.php page using this name?? i don't know what is the function and how to make this idea. can anyone help me please I have a form and javascript that doesn't work correctly. I think there's a problem with the javascript, but it's possible the form is the culprit. I'm new at this. Here is the form code for a search boxx: Code: <form id="search" method="get" name="search" action="promotions.html"> <input type="text" size="15" name="ws" maxlength="500" value="pen, keychain, etc." onfocus="this.value='';return false;" /> <button type="submit" value="Search">Go</button> <input type="hidden" name="ID" value="64857723-2161-4778-BDEB-3EE622F6CFF3" /> </form> Here is the javascript that's in the head of /promotions.html: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function FrameRedirect() { var q = window.location.search; q = (q.length > 1) ? q.substring(1, q.length) : 0; var s = q.substring(0, 2); switch (s) { case 'ws': q = 'http://www.asiconnection.com/ProductSearch/LinkInQS.aspx?'+q; document.getElementById('Content').className = 'active'; break; case 'bn': q = q.substring(3,q.length); document.getElementById('RD2').className = 'active'; break; default: document.getElementById('RD1').className = 'active'; break; } iframe = '<iframe id="frame" src="'+q+'" width="780" scrolling="yes" frameborder="0" height="500"></iframe>'; document.getElementById('Content').innerHTML = iframe; } </script> The search box code is suppose to send the inputted search word to the javascript on /promotions.html page and then load the search results http://www.asiconnection.com/Product.../LinkInQS.aspx into the iframe on that page. The only thing that appears in that iframe is "Oops. Firefox cannot find productsearch" Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks in advance. I am working with using Javascript to create a page that scales and keeps its aspect ratio (much like a Flash page would). After a lot of trial and error, I have a prototype up with a couple of problems. It loads correctly once in I.E. Reloading, or opening a new browser, will also load the page correctly. But visiting a different page and coming back causes the width attributes to break. This happens with the non-aspect-ratio version in pure HTML also, but I was hoping that this problem would be solved by establishing values based on javascript variables. As for Firefox, the problem is more or less exactly the opposite. The page loads up all wonky the first time, and a reload or resize will fix it for every time afterward. To see what I'm talking about, you can take a look at http://www.jonesmfgmusic.com/testpag...lem_width.html For the HTML only version, see http://www.jonesmfgmusic.com/testpag...blem_html.html I'm guessing this is something to do with the order in which the data is loaded, so that once the information is all cached, it stops functioning in IE, and starts functioning in FF... can anyone confirm whether I'm on the right track with that, or how to fix it if I am? I'm most concerned by the fact that the width attribute is behaving as it does in IE. That looks like some kind of Microsoft bug to me, and I need a way around it. As for Firefox, I am guessing if I can just get it to load all of the correct information ahead of time, the page should come up correctly, but I just can't think how to do that. Is it possible to change the URL when a page refreshes? E.G Someone clicks a link on index.php to page1.php. When you refresh page1.php it actually loads page2.php The reason i ask my site uses AJAX to change pages (therefore doesnt refresh and stays on the index.php page). So if someone has followed 3-4 links and refreshes the page it will go back to the homepage, i want it so it reloads the currently page (i can use query strings to get the relevant page) Is this possible? I am writing a script that will display an alert box that reads "your play was saved" after a user clicks the submit button on a form. The only problem is that after clicking save, the page refreshes. Here is the code I tried to use Code: function savedMessage(){ document.getElementById("CmdFinish").addEventListener("click",function(e) { GM_setValue("Saved", 1); }, false); if (GM_getValue("saved", 0) == 1) { alert("Your play has been saved"); GM_setValue("saved", 0); // or GM_deleteValue("saved"); } } The button ID is "CmdFinish" and the value is "saved". Is there ANY way i can make the script run only on a page refresh? **Note** The script is for a specific page and not the whole site, so it wont run on every refresh on the site, only when it's needed on 1 page. How can I write a JavaScript for the following requirement. I have to go to a link say
Quote: www.google.com and refresh it for every 5 seconds continuously. Thanks Hi Guys, Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head... Quote: <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="40;URL=http://webaddress.com/"> That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date. Thanks in advance! Ria <HEAD><TITLE>main</TITLE> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://localhost/php_basic/short_pro/php/main.php"> <!--<script language="JavaScript"> var i=0; function validat() { setTimeout("moretext()",5000); alert("santosh"); } function moretext() { if(i==0) { alert(window.location); window.location.reload(); i++; } else { } } </script>--> </head> <BODY onload="validat();"> i hav written dis code to auto refresh page only once but it is refreshing after every 5 seconds. Earlier i hav wriiten meta tag but it is refreshing page after every 5 seconds & after that i hav wriiten script to auto reffresh page only once but they both r doin the same work,so can u plz help me in solvin my problem Hi, For the last few day's i've been searching for a js/ajax div refresh. I need a js/ajax script that refresh a div every 10 seconds or gets menu.php file and updates it. Thanks. Hi There, I have recently completed making a website for my sister's wedding. I am quite new to the web design world, and have only taken 2 classes on the subject. I used a Javascript function that was provided to us in one of my HTML coding classes in order to automatically resize the (nesting?) div's according to how long the content in them is. This all seems to work perfectly fine in Google Chrome, as well as most versions of Internet Explorer - however, in some versions of internet explorer, and ALL versions of Firefox, this resize function does not seem to work. Since this coding was provided to me by a teacher (who is unfortunately in another country), I'm not sure what kinda of edit would make it so it would function in Firefox, or if there is a way to make in function in Firefox at all. I would appreciate if some of you could take a look at it, and let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions/advice, as to what is happening with the code/why it does not work in Firefox/some versions of Internet Explorer. The specific javascript code (which i assume is the issue here - please let me know if I'm wrong about it being the javascript that isn't working) is he PHP Code: function fnReset(){ document.getElementById('dTorso').style.height="380px"; document.getElementById('dMiddle').style.height="auto"; var middleHt=document.getElementById('dMiddle').scrollHeight; var maxHt=Math.max(380,middleHt); document.getElementById('dTorso').style.height=maxHt + "px"; document.getElementById('dMiddle').style.height=maxHt + "px"; } Which is then called to action he Code: <body onLoad="fnReset();> Also, in some versions of Firefox, the background image for the whole page isn't showing up either - any tips on why that is happening would also be amazing. Thank you so much for any help you may provide. This is a gift to my sister and her fiance, and I really want it to work well for them, and all their guests. Thanks! |
