JavaScript - Ff Change Value For (event) E.target Position (top, Left)
Hi,
I am looking for the equivalent for the following Internet Explorer code for Firefox: Code: z=event.srcElement; z.style.pixelLeft = 500px; Must be something like: Code: function move(e) { z=e.target; z.style.left ..... maybe. This is to assign a new left position to an Element. Any hints welcome ?! Thank you for your help ! Similar TutorialsHello; I have a situation where an image tag is nested in an anchor tag set. The anchor is assigned an id and is assigned a click/onclick event listener. The anchor id corresponds to a list of objects in an array. In practice, the image tag is receiving the event. The code does setAttribute in another elements img tag src attribute. The image tag receiving the click event, (and passing it to the anchor tag) is event.target. (or event.srcElement, in the case of I.E.) My Question: What I want to know is how to reference the event.target parent element, the anchor tag elements Id attribute. Code: sample anchor/img tag set: <a style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#cccccc" id="An 1" alt="An 1" href="javascript:"><img style="border:1px solid;border-color:#cccccc" src="WC_port/windows/img//an_1.jpg" width="100" height="131" /><br /><br />An 1</a> I see the double slash in the img src path attribute. It is working as is in test browser: Firefox ( so far) This is in development stages. Later, I will assign the elements a css class rule. in my code, event.target.src has a usable value (src attribute of the img tag) It does not have a usable value for event.target.id (id attribute of the anchor tag) I am doing it this way so in the absence of javascript, the anchors href attribute defaults to a non scripted value. Thank you for time and attention JK I need to convert a position:fixed element to position:absolute when the user resize their browser window below 1000px. Right now it does nothing. The element always keeps the fixed positioning even after resizing the window. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give me on this Hi all. This is part of my code which I am using to edit the record from database.Initially the input boxes show the values from database and if any one of the value is changed, I want to reflect the change according to the changes made in the fields. The code works fine but if I change values in qty, rate or amount, the other values are not changing. Can experts over here tell me why? Here is my code: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function tot() { var d=document.getElementById("total").value; var st=Number(d); var e=document.getElementById("vat_amt").value; var tx=Number(e); var f=document.getElementById("cash_discount").value; var ad=Number(f); var g=document.getElementById("vat").value; var vat=Number(g); var h=(st+tx)-ad; document.getElementById("amount").value = Math.ceil(h); var z=vat+100; var y=(st*100)/z; var i=st-y; var result=Math.round(i*100)/100; //returns 28.45 document.getElementById("vat_amt").value =result; } var total = 0; function getValues() { var qty = 0; var rate = 0; var obj = document.getElementsByTagName("input"); for(var i=0; i<obj.length; i++){ if(obj[i].name == "qty[]"){var qty = obj[i].value;} if(obj[i].name == "rate[]"){var rate = obj[i].value;} if(obj[i].name == "amt[]"){ if(qty > 0 && rate > 0){obj[i].value = qty*rate;total+=(obj[i].value*1);} else{obj[i].value = 0;total+=(obj[i].value*1);} } } document.getElementById("total").value = total*1; total=0; } </script> </head> <body> <table width="23%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="normal-text" border="0" style="margin-top:0px; padding-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; padding-bottom:0px;"> <tr> <td>Qty</td> <td>Rate</td> <td>Amount</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" name="qty[]" onkeyup="getValues()" style="width:120px;" value="<?PHP echo "$row3[qty]" ?>" class="text medium"></td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" name="rate[]" onKeyUp="getValues()" style="width:120px;" value="<?PHP echo "$row3[rate]" ?>" class="text medium"></td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" name="amt[]" style="width:120px;" onKeyUp="getValues()" class="text medium" value="<?PHP echo "$row3[amt]" ?>"></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="dt" colspan="2">Sub Total:</td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" id="total" name="total" style="width:120px;" value="<?PHP echo "$row[total]" ?>" class="text medium"></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="dt" colspan="2">Vat:</td> <td class="forhead"><?PHP $query5=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM vat"); echo "<select name='vat' id='vat' style='width:120px; border: 1px solid #BFBFBF;' onChange='tot()'>"; echo "<option value='0'> Select</option>"; while($row5=mysql_fetch_array($query5)) {?> <option value= <?PHP echo $row5[vat]; ?> <?PHP echo($row5[vat]==$row[vat])?'selected':''?>> <?PHP echo $row5[vat]; ?> </option> <?PHP } echo "</select>"; ?></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="dt" colspan="2">Vat Amt :</td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" id="vat_amt" name="vat_amt" style="width:120px;" value="<?PHP echo "$row[vat_amt]" ?>" class="text medium" onKeyUp="tot()"></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="dt" colspan="2">Cash Discount :</td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" id="cash_discount" name="cash_discount" style="width:120px;" value="<?PHP echo "$row[cash_discount]" ?>" class="text medium" onKeyUp="tot()"></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="dt" colspan="2">Total :</td> <td class="forhead"><input type="text" name="amount" id="amount" style="width:120px;" class="text medium" onKeyUp="tot()" value="<?PHP echo "$row[amount]" ?>"></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Hi, Which javascript event should be used to call logout on window close and url change. Regrads, Abha Hello, So I have two pieces of Javascript attached to my open/close text boxes. One for the visibility function: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle_visibility(id) { var e = document.getElementById(id); if(e.style.display == 'block') e.style.display = 'none'; else e.style.display = 'block'; } </script> The other for changinging the image to reflect the text box's status (open of closed): Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var ImgPath='../images/portfolio/'; function changeImage (id) { var tab = document.getElementById(id); if (tab.src.match('open.png')) { tab.src = ImgPath + 'close.png'; } else { tab.src = ImgPath + 'open.png'; } } </script> The problem only shows further down the page, when I click to open a box it automatically goes back to the top of the page instead of staying at the user's current page position I would like it to stop changing the page position onclick. Any help would be much appreciated! Hi all, I tried to create a mouse over effect using jquery. When user hovers #box1_trigger link, the #service_box1 div should change it's background position. When the div tag's height increases, this increases the overall page height. When the page height increases, then the scroll bar stays in the same place, but the page position changes in the browser. Is there anyway to prevent the viewer's position from changing when room is made for the expanding content? Hi. I'm trying to figure out a way that, when a user scrolls down the page and hits the footer (#footer), a div's CSS position changes from fixed to absolute. The main reason is because I don't want the div that if fixed to go over the footer - I want it to just stop scrolling with the page and stay put. I'd assume this is done with JavaScript, but I have no idea where to start. If someone could give me a basic code that I can then modify that would be awesome! Thanks! Hi forum, I am trying to attach an event to a dynamically produced button, and then use stopPropagation and preventDefault. Code: function chapter12_nodeOne() { //create an element var element = document.createElement('input'); //set some attributes element.setAttribute('type', 'button'); element.setAttribute('value', 'submit'); element.setAttribute('id', 'myBtn'); //appendd the element into a DIV document.getElementById('myDiv').appendChild(element); //uses EventUtil to attach an event listener EventUtil.addHandler(element, 'click', function() { alert('event attached'); }); var flag = confirm('prevent default behavior of button?'); if (flag) { var el = document.getElementById('myBtn');/////////////////////////(1) var ev = el.onclick; } } var EventUtil = { addHandler: function(element, type, handler) { //check if the element and the browser support DOM Level 2 event attachment //if the user is not browsing with IE if (element.addEventListener) { element.addEventListener(type, handler, false); } //if user is browsing with IE else if (element.attachEvent) { element.attachEvent("on" + type, handler); } //if user is using a browser that only supports DOM Level 0 event attachment else { element["on" + type] = handler; } }, removeHandler: function(element, type, handler) { //check if the element and the browser support DOM Level 2 event attachment //if the user is not browsing with IE if (element.removeEventListener) { element.removeEventListener(type, handler, false); } //if user is browsing with IE else if (element.detachEvent) { element.detachEvent("on" + type, handler); } //if user is using a browser that only supports DOM Level 0 event attachment else { element["on" + type] = null; } } }; But when debugging I see under el on the line marked with (1) that the onclick event is null. What am I doing wrong?! PS:the event is attached, when I click on the button I get an alert message is it possible to capture the control.event or element.event that was fired to invoke the onbeforeunload event. for example, if a button is clicked and it causes the onbeforeunload event to fire can i determine which button was clicked. thanks I'm new to javascript and am not sure why this works in firefox and not chrome. I am trying to create a script that keeps an object fixed horizontally while bing positioned absolute vertically. if I replace the toPP variable in document.getElementById('fire').style.top = toPP; with say '50px' it will move the element down 50 pxs, but how I have it currently it doesn't do anything in chrome Code: <script type="text/javascript" > window.onscroll = function() { if( window.XMLHttpRequest ) { var x = 0 -document.documentElement.scrollTop; var toP = String(x); var toPP = toP + "px"; document.getElementById('fire').style.position = 'fixed'; document.getElementById('fire').style.top = toPP; } } </script> I have a ondrag event handler and in that I am trying to retrieve e.ClientX but it always return 0 in Mozilla. Works fine in IE though. How can retrieve the clientX and clientY in ondrag event? Hey guys, I'm trying to obtain the object of the element on the page that is clicked, but my code is unable to set the target. Here's what I have. The JavaScript Code: function show_info(e){ //get the targeted element. var targ; if (!e) var e = window.event; if (e.target) targ = e.target; else if (e.srcElement) targ = e.srcElement; if (targ.nodeType == 3) targ = targ.parentNode; alert (targ); //FAIL! } The Form Code: <form action="#" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name\"id" value="" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Info" onclick="show_info()"/> </form> What I want to do is get the target element(the submit button) so that I can get its sibling(it contains a unique ID). But it's not working. Hoping someone can help a simple soul!! I am trying to work out if there is a way that I can use a target url as a simple password (or even username) at a log in screen. Essentially I want to be able to send people to a different URL depending on their login details but without having to do anything too complicated or secure.
