JavaScript - Display A Txt Or Doc File In A Webpage
I maintain a website for a small local restaurant. I do this with FrontPage so I know very little coding.
I have an upload manager so the owner can remotely upload a txt or doc file of daily specials to a folder on the server. I would like to put a java script into one of the web pages that would open and display this file on page load. Is that possible and can someone help with the code, Thanks Similar TutorialsI have the ability to remotely upload a text file to a folder on my web server. Periodically during the day I update that file and re-upload it which overwrites the previous file. I am looking for a script to insert in a webpage that will "get" and display the current version of that file on page load. Thanks in advance. Hi! First post here! Would really appreciate some help on a javascript that would display the time elapsed since a particular visitor last visited my webpage, using cookies. So basically it should show something like: "You last visited my page 2 days & 12 mins ago!" I've a little background in java but none in javascript... Thanks so much! Hi. Can someone tell me if it is possible to display the duration a webpage is accesssed. For example, if its a form webpage, then the time to be displayed will be = time the webpage was left (press submit button etc. or the time the viewer left the page) - time the webpage was first accessed or loaded. If it is possible with javascript, what are the methods, attributes etc that need to be used. Bit of a noob when it comes to js. Hope someone can help me out. I am trying to place text output from a url on another webpage. The output is the status of an alarm system. The URL is: Code: https://www.eye-zon.com/EZMOBILE/index.php?mid=<hash>&action=ssi&did=<mac> hash and mac info remove for security reasons. The URL leads to a webpage that outputs: Code: <update>2011-08-18 21:21:10</update><status> Stay Armed </status><trouble>NO</trouble> I would like to place these three outputs on another page. Any ideas? I'm try to set up a webpge that will play a live flash video on the left-hand side(got that part working) and display one slide of a presentation(jpg) to the right of the video. I would like to be able to control when the slide image changes by having some js check a text file on my server. The text file could contain something as simple as "Slide1.jpg". I will manipulate the text file with some code I've already written. Is there some simple js code I can put in my page that will cause it to check the text file every 5 seconds, and if the content of the file has changed, to refresh the image on the page with the new image? I'm try to get away from the "clicking" sound that is caused by doing a simple refresh of an Iframe. I'm a complete novice at js, so any help would be appreciated. I'm also open to other solutions that would accomplish the same thing. Thanks, Mike Hi, I want to when I open a web page , my program detect all the "digit numbers" and display all of them for me. I don't know exactly what do I do? Thanks. Regards. I have an xml file: http://greenandtheblue.com/weather/parks.xml I'd like to display on an html page the time this xml document was last modified. I've done this successfully with php, but I'm wondering if I can do this with Javascript? The file will be in the same directory as the website/html page. I've googled for a while now with no success. Thanks for any help, S I have a javascript file and a html file. On the html file I have an action (button) and would like to use some type of attribute of the onclick to call my function to open this html file. below is the beginning of my function: requestPanel_Forwardme: function() { view.opendialog("show_me") What other attributes of action can I use? can this function in my JS file be called and if so how would I call it? <action?? Hi all, this is the code I'm using in order to display the contents of an xml file into a page. It's working fine with IE but with Firefox. I have searched over intrenet and have applied all suggestions I've found about this issue. Unfortunately it's still not working. Can you please help me??? Code: function importXML() { if (document.implementation && document.implementation.createDocument) { xmlDoc = document.implementation.createDocument("", "", null); xmlDoc.onload = createTable; } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = function () { if (xmlDoc.readyState == 4) createTable() }; } else { alert('Your browser can\'t handle this script'); return; } xmlDoc.load("news.xml"); } function createTable() { var x = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('event'); var newEl = document.createElement('table'); newEl.style.width = '100%'; newEl.setAttribute('cellPadding',0); newEl.setAttribute('cellspacing',0); var tmp = document.createElement('TBODY'); newEl.appendChild(tmp); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { var row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[0].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD style="padding-left:3px; font-weight:bold;">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[1].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD class="box_2">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); } document.getElementById('writeroot').appendChild(newEl); } Hello, have a website that contains many excel files (.xls and .zip). I need to display the last modified date of these files. They currently reside on a webserver. I found this script in this forum, BUT, it only seems to work for .htm or really anything else except .xls or .zip files. <html> <head> <title>Last Modified</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function getLastMod(){ var myFrm = document.getElementById('myIframe'); var lastModif = new Date(myFrm.contentWindow.document.lastModified); document.getElementById('LastModified').innerHTML = "Last Update: " + lastModif.toLocaleString(); } </script> </head> <body> <span id="LastModified"></span> <iframe id="myIframe" onload="getLastMod()" src="DFC_new_page.htm" style="display:none;" width="352" height="137"> </iframe> </body> </html> Also, when I place an .xls file inside the src= field it ends up opening the file. HELP!!!! I am new to writing scripts and unfortunately only have Frontpage to use for this. Thank you!!!!! Hi, I'd like to insert a date on a webpage in the following format: Monday, May 10, 2010 However, I want to be able to set the date 6 days before the current date. So, if today's date is Monday, May 10, 2010, I want it to instead display the following: Tuesday, May 4, 2010 Can someone please provide me the javascript and html coding to be able to do this? I'd seriously appreciate it. Thanks much in advance!! Hi please help me with this website. This website is used to list 6 events and then it should accurately countdown to when that event happens. As it is right now it accurately counts days, but hours, minutes, and seconds are counted down incorrectly. I used the following JS code from my book but im not quite sure how to make it all work. Any thoughts appreciated. Something like javascript: document.getelement? Can someone please show me a working example of how to load a WebPage from an existing WebPage using Javascript! I have tried googling the syntax and not having any luck. Thanks, Blake Hi, Can someone direct me to what do i need to get something like this going: When a user clicks on a button to focus a windows program thats already running Thanks Complete and utter newb here, so I apologize in advance. I'm trying to create a widget for a website that will show the Recent Comments, but will limit what is shown to 1 comment per unique thread. The idea being that the popular threads don't drown out the unpopular threads in the widget. Alas, I do not know Javascript. I am, however, proficient in XSLT. So I mapped out a little transform to get (essentially) what I want, thus: Input: http://anamardoll.disqus.com/latest.rss XSLT: Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template name="RSS_Feed" match="rss"> <xsl:value-of select="'

')"/> <xsl:value-of select="substring-after(child::title/node(), 'Ramblings: ')"/> <xsl:value-of select="('

Is there an easy way in Javascript to just invoke an XSLT on a webpage and display the results? I've read online that there is, but can find no examples that work for me. I do appreciate any help provided and thank you in advance! (Also, for background: This will be going into the Blogger HTML/Javascript Widget tool, so... yeah.) OK, I appologise in advance if this post is long, but I need this answer, as I'm at my wits end. So I have this code Code: function SizeSelect(){ if(document.getElementById("JarSize").value=="Small") document.getElementById("JarPrice").innerHTML="3.00" else if(document.getElementById("JarSize").value=="Medium") document.getElementById("JarPrice").innerHTML="5.00" else if(document.getElementById("JarSize").value=="Large") document.getElementById("JarPrice").innerHTML="7.00" } Which alters the value of JarPrice, based on which JarSize is selected. Which is the code below here. Code: <select id="JarSize" onchange="SizeSelect();"> <option value="Small" >Small</option> <option value="Medium">Medium</option> <option value="Large">Large</option> </select> <span class="price">$<span id="JarPrice">3.00</span></span></div> Now for the hard part. I need this piece of code Code: <a href="javascript:;" onclick="simpleCart.add('name=Mango and Papaya', 'price=5', 'quantity=1');" class="prod_buy">add to cart</a> to be flexible, so that what ever value JarPrice becomes, that 'price=5' becomes the same. Now, the first piece of code is in a seperate .js file to the other two parts, which sit inside a regular HTML page. As I said, I'm desperate, as this is the only part of my site that isn't working ATM And if you need more information about any part, please don't hesitate to ask, as I will be able to give as much info as I can. |
