On his he doesnt see any men or town or fort does anyone else get this problem? Please advise! Similar TutorialsHello all..New to the board and javascript. Link to the page in question:http://cgi.ebay.com/test-page-only-D...item27ae5e0654 I have a problem here..Confused maybe someone can spot it I can't. I am using Firefox 3.5-6 and IE 7 and Chrome 4.1......Just CSS and Javascript. I am using "Tiny Slider" JS. for my image gallery, most of the content was deleted from the code for security purposes. Head and body tags are not necessary for Ebay. The problem is the gallery I think. This page works great (Image gallery) outside of Ebay..but when I insert in Ebay the gallery will not position the images properly except the first one. After the first image 2, 3, and 4 pass by without centering and some not at all?? Layout problem? I need this to work for Ebay..So any help would be appreciated. i am new to JS and need help in solving my code that's not reloading the page to download subcat list from db when you select the cat list? Any help is appreciable:
Hi, I'm having a problem with my page not resetting to the point where the user clicked on an element. I believe this to be a javascript problem, however, if it is not I would be glad to move it to the proper forum. What I have is a page with a div that contains a large image (a map). the dims are 1237 x 1550. I am using a browser window resized to approx. 800 x 600 so that I can simulate a smaller screen viewport. The page has links that are scattered about the map (positioned with css) and what I want to do is launch a video using the HTML5 video tag when the user clicks on a link. The video is supposed to open in the center of the users viewport and then dim the map div, which it does, however the page resets its position after the js function and aligns the page back to the upper left corner of the browser window. If the user had scrolled (both x and y) to the max of the scroll bar, then this will be fairly frustrating to have to keep moving back, thus my dilemma. I tried using scrollto to reset the scroll back to where the user was, but this is not working. What's funny is if I put an alert at the very end of the function, the page displays properly (video is centered on the screen where the user was in their viewport) but resets as soon as the alert is closed. I then tried using location.reload(false), but this keeps the function from running properly (the page shows properly for a fraction of a second then resets back to a newly launched page). Below is the code. Also, this has only been tested with FF and Chrome on my local drive. It is not anywhere on the web right now. In chrome, the page resets to the top only. I'm really not interested in making this work with IE since this is for personal/family use. Your help is greatly appreciated. Code: CSS body { background: black; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; } div#bkg { position: absolute; text-align: center; z-index: 1; } p#day1 { position: absolute; top: 800px; left: 1000px; font-weight: bold; width: 50px; background: white; } Javascript function showVid(srcVid) { // set the proper filename of the vid srcVid = srcVid + ".ogv"; // create the video tag var vidWin = document.createElement("video"); vidWin.id = "movie"; vidWin.setAttribute("width", "320"); vidWin.setAttribute("height", "240"); vidWin.setAttribute("controls", "controls"); // pic size is 1237 x 1550 var vpw = window.innerWidth; var vph = window.innerHeight; var xPosOff = window.pageXOffset; var yPosOff = window.pageYOffset; var leftNum = ((vpw/2) + xPosOff) - 160; var topNum = ((vph/2) + yPosOff) - 120; vidWin.setAttribute("style", "position: absolute; left: " + leftNum + "px; top: " + topNum + "px; z-index: 255;"); // create the source tag var vidSrc = document.createElement("source"); vidSrc.src = "videos/" + srcVid; vidSrc.type = "video/ogg"; vidSrc.codecs = "theora, vorbis"; vidWin.appendChild(vidSrc); document.getElementById('bkg').style.opacity = 0.5; document.body.appendChild(vidWin); window.scrollTo(xPosOff, yPosOff); // tried this, it didn't work // location.reload(false); } HTML <body> <div id='bkg'> <img src="images/pic1.jpg" /> <p id="day1"><a href="#" onclick="showVid('oggtest')">Day 1</a></p> </div> </body> Dear all, I am trying to set up a web site for an art gallery. That is for new talents so I have no budget. I am not a web designer and I am facing some barriers. Maybe some of you could help me. My problem is, I guess, about going around with the DOM node tree. My page looks like this: FRAME 1 - Header FRAME 2 - Navigation bar FRAME 3 - Has arrows for scrolling iframe 3.1 ---- iframe 3.1 - has thumbnails FRAME 4 - First for query and after shows the enlarged pictures of thumbnails FRAME 5 - Has arrows for scrolling iframe 5.1 ---iframe 5.1 Has text explaining pictures in frame 4 How it works: In first place, after page has been loaded, I am using frame 4 to run a HTML form. After submit, iframe 3.1 is populated with thumbnails according to the query. When a thumbnail is clicked, I succeeded in bringing the corresponding text, talking about the artwork, on iframe 5.1 to do so, I change the html source in iframe 5.1 I am using for that: top.frames['frame5_id'].document.getElementById('iframe 5.1_id').src=new_source.html; The idea was about doing the same with the frame 4 that is for a larger picture of the artwork. But first I need to get rid of the form once it was submitted (bring a new HTML with a dummy transparent gif to be swapped with the desired picture). But how can I bring a new html in frame 4? After the form is submitted the 'action' moves to iframe 3.1 I tried changing the html source using getElementById but I could not find a way to get to the right object. So my questions a Two src attibutes must be changed with code written in iframe 3.1. (where the thumbnails are clicked). But... How can I address and change the HTML src code in FRAME 4 ? How can I address and change the src image in the new code loaded in FRAME 4 ? I have both attributes in variables but don't know how to get to the target elements Thanks for any help. regards, wagner I have a div which toggles visible, ie, it disappears when you click "close" with Code: <a href='#' onclick="toggle_visibility('div1'); toggle_visibility('div2'); return false;" >Close </a> which calls this: Code: function toggle_visibility(id) { var e = document.getElementById(id); if(e.style.display == 'block') e.style.display = 'none'; else e.style.display = 'block'; } The problem I have is that when I click that button, the page jumps down to center on exactly where I clicked. This is really unwanted, I was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks for your time. Dear all, MAIN QUESTIONS : QUESTIONS for www.cyoffshore.byethost12.com/feedback4test.html I designed the Contact Us (Feedback) page of my website but something goes wrong. I would like to set an email address or some email addresses where the visitors can find me. Now, this function does not work! I would also like the users / visitors who complete and submit the (my) Contact Form, to receive an auto-confirmation to their email which will confirms that they have addressed to me with their details (their name, address, tel ,etc) according to their input into the fields and options from the (my) Contact form and if they would like to see their written request (what they have written to me if they did), they could use an option button from the (my) Contact Form. Actually the details of their written request will depend of what they would like to choose (depends on their choice). According to the submitted Contack Form, generally many users take the advantage of the Contact Us Forms where they send spam emails via the Contact Form. This might be avoid by the usage of the free tool: http://www.google.com/recaptcha Below is the url of the feedback.html page of my website. I have created a copy of the same and I renamed it to: feedback4test.html for testing purposes. www.cyoffshore.byethost12.com/feedback4test.html Here is the code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en"> <!-- this template was designed by http://www.tristarwebdesign.co.uk - please visit for more templates & information - thank you. --> <head> <title>cyproservices</title> <!-- change to whatever you want as the title for your website --> <meta name="description" content=" " /> <!-- enter a description for your website inside the " " --> <meta name="keywords" content=" " /> <!-- enter a a string of keywords that relate to your website inside the " " --> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-gb" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" /> </head> <body> <div id="headercont"> <div id="header"> <h1><span>cyproservices</span></h1> </div> </div> <div id="menucont"> <div id="menu"> <ul> <li><a title="link one" title="home" href="index.html">ABOUT CYPRUS</a></li> <li><a title="link two" href="ourservices.html">OUR SERVICES</a></li> <li><a title="link three" href="offshorejurisdictions.html">OFFSHORE JURISDICTIONS</a></li> <li><a title="link four" href="fees.html">PRICES</a></li> <li><a class="active" href="feedback.html">CONTACT US</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <div id="maincont"> <div id="main"> <h1>Feedback</h1> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0" align="justify"> <font size="3" face="Book Antiqua" color="#FF0000"> Tell me what you think about my website. SECONDARY QUESTIONS : ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS for www.cypruspainters.net/feedback2.htm under your consideration: Firstly, when I visit my website a pop up page appears which is very annoying for the visitors! The url of the pop up is: http://www.freelotto.com/register.as...&affiliateid=3 Another issues are : According to these issues, I have attached the screenshots and the text below: The screenshots below are refered to my previous software which was FRONTPAGE. Now I am using a substituted program which is Microsoft Expression Web 3. The problem is when I would like to use a Captcha image to block form spam and include this setting in my test.mf file (see attached screenshot -test.mf file), then @recaptchaFailPage is pointing to the page I want the visitor redirected to should they enter the wrong text from the image and does not work (see attached screenshot - recaptchaFailPage). In addition, we can add more fields to Misk Contact Us.htm Form (see attached screenshot- Misk Contact Us.htm Form) and the file test.htm is merely an example of what can be done! I created under my website a web link www.cypruspainters.net/MiskMailForm.htm with 3 images to look over the guidelines describing what is supported by my hosting provider and it will help you setup any form with their Mail Form service. Another issue, as instructed in the pdf, my hosting provider provides a Mail Form service which I can setup a confirmation page to notify people of their form being submitted successfully within the test.mf file. My confirmation page is listed as: @redirPage=confirm2.htm within the test.mf file. This is merely a redirect and will not pass Form Information to the page in order to show people what was submitted. Currently this might not be a feature of my hosting provider Mail Form service. But I am not sure! According to the attached screenshot- confirm2.htm , could you make the necessary changes to confirm2.htm in order to notify people of their form being submitted successfully with a more detailed and presentable way, for example, showing what the visitors have requested (visitors input), their details, their comments, etc and at the bottom maybe will be better if we would add a web link back to the Form! You can email me at: georgeashiotis@yahoo.com and I can reply to you by attaching, uploading and sending my www.cypruspainters.net/index.htm website or/ and www.cypruspainters.net/feedback2.htm (Contact Us Form) to your email in order to investigate the case! Thanks! Antonis A while back, Old Pedant wrote a nifty function which changes the class of different sets of <p> elements, in order to change the content and style of their css ':afters'. You can see it in action here: welcome > consult > ready ? > make line one > etc: the ':afters' are the small red markers which appear in the middle of the red lines. I'm now writing functions for "back" links which will return the page to its original state. I've managed to do this for most elements (change display, colour, etc): however, these ':afters' are proving a problem. The css for the original ':afters' Code: .hex p:after { position:relative; top:0.74em; left:-2.10em; z-index:-1; font-size:0.50em; content:":"; visibility:hidden; } The logic of applying elaborate css, and then hiding the result is this: the css alters the line-height of the p element, so a dummy version is to applied at the outset, before the specific versions are activated. The css for the changed ':afters' Code: p.xV1:after, p.xV2:after, p.xV3:after, p.xV4:after, p.xV5:after, p.xV6:after { color:#f03; visibility:visible; content:"x"; } p.oV1:after, p.oV2:after, p.oV3:after, p.oV4:after, p.oV5:after, p.oV6:after { color:#f03; visibility:visible; content:"O"; } What needs to happen is for all of these p classes to be returned to the css '.hex p:after' . I think the function might look something like Code: function returnAfters(){ for (i=0; i<elP.length; i++) { if (elP.item(i).className.charAt(1) == "V") { elP.item(i).className = "hex p";} } The original function, altho I don't think it's needed to solve this, can be found here, at line 295. Meanwhile, one other problem area involves a jQuery function, so I'll post elsewhere. Cheers! Hi all, this is the code I'm using in order to display the contents of an xml file into a page. It's working fine with IE but with Firefox. I have searched over intrenet and have applied all suggestions I've found about this issue. Unfortunately it's still not working. Can you please help me??? Code: function importXML() { if (document.implementation && document.implementation.createDocument) { xmlDoc = document.implementation.createDocument("", "", null); xmlDoc.onload = createTable; } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = function () { if (xmlDoc.readyState == 4) createTable() }; } else { alert('Your browser can\'t handle this script'); return; } xmlDoc.load("news.xml"); } function createTable() { var x = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('event'); var newEl = document.createElement('table'); newEl.style.width = '100%'; newEl.setAttribute('cellPadding',0); newEl.setAttribute('cellspacing',0); var tmp = document.createElement('TBODY'); newEl.appendChild(tmp); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { var row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[0].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD style="padding-left:3px; font-weight:bold;">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[1].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD class="box_2">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); } document.getElementById('writeroot').appendChild(newEl); } i have this code included within a .php file on my website. I realised that my %age rules defining the width of my website page dont really work once i get to wider sizes so i want to use a fixed width page design using css code (only once wide enough) to achieve this. Please have a look at my code and tell me what im doing wrong i cant find anything wrong with my js. If js is anything like python i may need to change the output from a string to an integer or something along those lines. I can easily just doc.write the width but i cant get it to compare properly Code: <script type="text/javascript"> if (document.body.clientWidth > 1280) {document.write('<link href="wdestyle.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />')}; else {document.write('<link href="nrostyle.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />')}; </script> I have this script which is set to generate random anagrams of my name in rotation which works fine, but I can't work out how to put multiple instances of it on one page. if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful. thanks the code is var quotations = new Array() quotations[0]= "germaine arnold" quotations[1]= "endearing moral" quotations[2]= "analog reminder" quotations[3]= "regained normal" quotations[4]= "renaming ordeal" quotations[5]= "nominal regrade" quotations[6]= "arraigned lemon" quotations[7]= "ringleader moan" quotations[8]= "mineral groaned" function display() { a=Math.floor(Math.random()*quotations.length) document.getElementById('quotation').innerHTML=quotations[a] setTimeout("display()",5000) } and i'm calling the function using: <div id="quotation"> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript">display()</SCRIPT> </div> This is my test page: http://www.thesacstudio.com/ccid_web...ndex_copy.html Am using Dynamic Drive's smooth menu javascript When viewed on a PC using IR the menu makes the page "jump" i am a Mac guy and at my limit of what to do. thanks for any assistance I have the following javascript function: [ function addNewWindowEvent(evType, fn) { if (window.addEventListener) { this.addEventListener("load", fn, false); return true; } else if (window.attachEvent) { var onload = "onload" this.attachEvent(onload, fn); return true; } else { return false; } } ] which is giving me a an exception every time a page on our site loads. The actual exception in firefox is this: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT_JS)" location: "JS frame :: https://cms-dev.stchas.edu/global/js/hdvscripts.js :: addNewWindowEvent :: line 5" data: no] and I'm not sure exactly what it's complaining about. I'm relatively new to javascript so diagnosing and fixing this problem has me quite puzzled, and so far I have been unable to find anything helpful when I try and google for information on this. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks. henryv Hi I have a problem with a form in my site he http://www.21centuryanswers.com/submit.php if no field is filled and you click submit, an alert will be shown, yet the next page will still load! I just wrote an essay to discover it had logged me out and I lost everything. Grrrrrrr. Here goes again, simplified this time. I've got a sticky footer at the bottom of the page and a spry collapsible panel which expands to reveal content on mouse over. The problem I'm facing is that the page doesn't scroll down with it, only the scroll bar gets larger to accommodate for a manual scroll down. This is kind of useless because the user might not even realise that there's extra content there in the first place if it's not automatic. My question is, what's the best javascript code to use to automatically scroll the page down when the spry tab is opened and where would I insert it? I've tried all morning with no success so far! Thanks, Nick, I'm copy pasting this post this time round, I don't trust this website now I want to implement a javascript function where a submit button will be submitted from the parent page each time I close a child page. Please let me know what I did wrong in my code and please elaborate your answer so that I could understand it better. Thank you so much for your help. I have the following jscript code but it is now working. Code: window.onunload = submitParent; function submitParent() { var doc = window.opener.document, theForm = doc.getElementById("finalForm"); theField = doc.getElementById("finalSelected"); theForm.submit(); theField.trigger('click'); } My form from the parent page is as follow. I want my jscript to just click on the submit button once. Code: <form id = "finalForm "name= "finalForm" method="POST" action=""> <input type="Submit" id = "finalSelected" name="finalSelected"/> Hello. My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer he The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script> About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to. When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00. I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top. I appreciate your help. Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya Hi there! I am using GlassBox "http://www.glassbox-js.com/" As a light box on a website. Basically, You click an thumbnail image, and a window pops up with a larger version of that image. Now originally, the window opened X number of pixels from the top of the page. However, My thumbnail images were located mid page, so when you clicked on one, the window would open at the top of the page and the user would not see it unless they scrolled up. So I attempted to modify the script so that it would get the users page width/height and display it directly in the center no matter the position. Now my problem is that the script only works when the user has already scrolled down. So if the page is scrolled all the way to the top, and you click on a thumbnail, the window will not open center screen. Here is an example: http://synaxis.pcriot.com/ When the page loads, DO NOT scroll it, and click on the image. You will see the window pop up, and not centered, like it should be. However, now if you scroll down, and click the image again, you see that it is now centered. I also noticed that when the page is scrolled up, and the image does not center, it always is placed below the thumbnail image, or otherwise where ever the DIV is located. It normally located under the image, but if i place the DIV at the top of the page then the window will pop up there. And this does happen on every browser that I have tested, Firefox, IE, and Chrome. So, I am pretty much stumped as to why this is happening. If anyone can shed some light I would be very grateful. Thank You Here is a link to the original code: http://synaxis.pcriot.com/javascript...ox/glassbox.js And modified code: http://synaxis.pcriot.com/javascript...ox/glassbox.js The modified code is at the very bottom of the script. Original Code: Code: /** * @public */ if ( typeof($) == 'undefined' ) { $ = function (id) { return document.getElementById(id); } } Modified Code Code: /** * @private */ var removeElement = function(id) { var Node = document.getElementById(id); Node.parentNode.removeChild(Node); } /** * @private */ var getDocHeight = function() { var db = document.body; var ddE = document.documentElement; return Math.max( db.scrollHeight, db.offsetHeight, db.clientHeight, ddE.scrollHeight, ddE.offsetHeight, ddE.clientHeight ); } /** * @public */ if ( typeof($) == 'undefined' ) { $ = function (id) { return document.getElementById(id); } } Hi All, Im new to this forum...need some of your help and advice. I have a js code like this : <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var sipPos = 0; $(document).ready(function() { $("#panel-tab").click(function(e) { //if(autoTimer) clearTimeout(autoTimer); //autoTimer = null; e.preventDefault(); $("#panel").animate({ left: sipPos }, 1764, 'linear', function() { if(sipPos == 0) { sipPos = -856; } else { sipPos = 0; } }); }); }); --> </script> what it does is that it hide and show a panel by slidint it to the left. But my client want that on page load the panel opens automatically for about 2-3 seconds just to let users know that its here. So ive written this : <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var sipPos = 0; $(document).ready(function() { var autoTimer = null; autoTimer = setTimeout(function(){ $("#panel").animate({ left: sipPos }); autoTimer = setTimeout(function(){ $("#panel").animate({ left: sipPos = -856 }); }, 2000); },1000); $("#panel-tab").click(function(e) { //if(autoTimer) clearTimeout(autoTimer); //autoTimer = null; e.preventDefault(); $("#panel").animate({ left: sipPos }, 1764, 'linear', function() { if(sipPos == 0) { sipPos = -856; } else { sipPos = 0; } }); }); }); --> </script> But when the panel finished showing the button to open it again doesn't work...any help please..really urgent. thks //Sam |
