JavaScript - Alert If No Radio Buttons Are Checked
got 3 groups of radio buttons that, if not all checked, needs to give an alert message when button clicked to continue. The button is not a submit button, but just to continue to the next part of the form which is hidden.
Code: <!-- MY RADIO BUTTON GROUPS --> <input name="id[18]" value="81" id="attrib-18-81" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-18-81"> Kola Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[18]" value="82" id="attrib-18-82" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-18-82"> Pineapple Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[18]" value="79" id="attrib-18-79" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-18-79"> Rhubarb and Custard</label><br /> <input name="id[18]" value="80" id="attrib-18-80" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-18-80"> Strawberry and Cream</label><br /><br /> <input name="id[19]" value="99" id="attrib-19-99" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-19-99"> Kola Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[19]" value="100" id="attrib-19-100" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-19-100"> Pineapple Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[19]" value="97" id="attrib-19-97" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-19-97"> Rhubarb and Custard</label><br /> <input name="id[19]" value="98" id="attrib-19-98" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-19-98"> Strawberry and Cream</label><br /><br /> <input name="id[20]" value="117" id="attrib-20-117" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-20-117"> Kola Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[20]" value="118" id="attrib-20-118" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-20-118"> Pineapple Cubes</label><br /> <input name="id[20]" value="115" id="attrib-20-115" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-20-115"> Rhubarb and Custard</label><br /> <input name="id[20]" value="116" id="attrib-20-116" type="radio"><label class="attribsRadioButton zero" for="attrib-20-116"> Strawberry and Cream</label><br /><br /> <!-- MY CONTINUE BUTTON --> <img src="images/tabs/button_continue.gif" alt="CONTINUE" onclick="Tabdoc_ManageDisplay(4)"> The onClick function on the image is to hide these and display next part of form. I understand that I could just check them automatically to force user to change them if they wanted to or just continue but if there is way to do it another way, please let me know. Or if possible to hide my continue button until all 3 groups are selected, also without using checked="checked" Thanks in advance. ----------------- Jay Similar TutorialsI am creating an assignment and cant seem to figure whats wrong with my code. I just need it to loop through three different radio buttons and test which is selected, then display an alert box based on it. here is my code: Code: function displayOrder() { // set var radio_choice to false var selected = false; var crustType = document.orderform.crust; var crust; // Loop from zero to the one minus the number of radio button selections for (var i = 0; i < crustType.length; i++) { // If a radio button has been selected it will return true // (If not it will return false) if (crustType[i].checked); selected = true; crust = crustType[i]; } if (!selected) { // If there were no selections made display an alert box alert("Please select a crust type.") return (false); } alert("you have selected " + crustType[i] + " crust pizza"); return (true); } } here is my html form: Code: <form name="orderForm"> Welcome back: <br /><br /> Please select your crust type: <br /> thin: <input type="radio" name="crust" value="thin"/> <br /> thick: <input type="radio" name="crust" value="thick"/> <br /> none: (?!) <input type="radio" name="crust" value="none"/> <br /> <input type="button" value="submit" onClick="displayOrder()" /> </form> Thanks a lot for the help Thanks for clicking on this to possibly help me. I've been trying for hours to get my page to do one calculations when a radio is clicked... or to do another if a different radio is clicked. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. here is a simplified version of the code (it'd be pointless to give you the whole code, it's way too big.) Code: <html> <head> <title>This doesn't work...</title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function doit(){ var firstnum = form.num1.value - form.num2.value; var secondnum = form.num1.value + form.num2.value; if (form.op1.checked){ form.results.value = firstnum; } if (form.op2.checked){ form.results.value = secondnum; } } </script> <form name="form" method="post"> Num 1: <input type="text" name="num1" /><br /> Num 2: <input type="text" name="num2" /><br /> Option One <input type="radio" name="op1" /><br /> Option Two <input type="radio" name="op2" /><br /> <input type="submit" onClick="doit" /><br /> Results: <input type="text" name="results" /><br /> </form> </body> </html> Hey I'm trying to create a function which when my "other address" radio button is checked, the "address2", "suburb2" and "postcode2" fields MUST be filled out by the user. I think I need to be using a for loop to determine which button is checked , but I don't know how to apply this checked button to prompt my client that the remaining fields must be completed (as seen in red)? I'm trying to set the value of a radio button in an html page when another radio button on the same page is checked. I want to use an external javascript file rather than inline script. My html is: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Pin config</title> <link type="text/javascript" href="scripts/pinRadioBtns.js" /> </head> <body> <form name="preset"> <input type="radio" name="preset" value="option1" onclick="javascript: setBtns();" />Option 1 <input type="radio" name="preset" value="option2" />Option 2 </form> <form name="pin4"> <input type="radio" name="pin4" id="pin4btn1" value="GPIO0" />GPIO0 <br /> <input type="radio" name="pin4" id="pin4btn2" value="nSPI_ADDR0" />nSPI_ADDR0 </form> </body> and my javascript file (which lives in a 'scripts' folder 1 level lower than the html) Code: function setBtns () { document.pin4.pin4btn1.checked = true; document.pin4.pin4btn2.checked = false; } so when the Option 1 radio button in the top form is clicked, I want to check the pin4btn1 radio button in the second form. currently when I preview the html (I'm using expression web) and click the option 1 radio button, nothing happens. maybe I'm referencing the 2nd radio button incorrectly..? any tips much appreciated... Hello, I am pretty new at javascript and I am trying to create a payment form that has both fields for payment by check and payment by credit card. I am wondering how I would go about having a radio button that asks the user how they would like to pay "credit card" or "check" and depending on which one they pick it shows the fields pertaining to that type of payment. the fields in the form look like this: Credit Card Fields: Code: <select name="card_type" size="1"> <option value="">- Card Type - </option> <option value="1">Visa</option> <option value="2">Mastercard</option> <option value="3">Discover</option> <option value="4">American Express</option> </select> Expiration Date<input type="text" name="exp_date" value="" id="exp_date"> CVC Code<input type="text" name="cvc" value="" id="cvc"> Card Number<input type="text" name="card_number" value="" id="card_number"> Amount On Credit Card<input type="text" name="card_amount" value="" id="card_amount"> Name On Card<input type="text" name="name_on_card" value="" id="name_on_card"> Billing Address<input type="text" name="billing_address" value="" id="billing_address"> Billing City<input type="text" name="billing_city" value="" id="billing_city"> <select name="billing_state" size="1"> <option value="">- Billing State -</option> </select> Check Fields: Code: Name (as printed on check)<input type="text" name="check_name" value="" id="check_name"> Address On Check<input type="text" name="check_address" value="" id="check_address"> Amount On Check<input type="text" name="check_amount" value="" id="check_amount"> Checking Account Number<input type="text" name="check_acc_number" value="" id="check_acc_number"> Routing Number<input type="text" name="routing_number" value="" id="routing_number"> Check Number<input type="text" name="check_number" value="" id="check_number"> Hi, I have a choice of three market items and I want the value of the selected one to be sent to my form. I have tried giving them different ids, I have tried replacing the id with checked="id=\'myitem\'", I have tried getElementById(\'myitem.checked\'), I have tried getElementbyName. In my full page I have far more radio buttons, so I don't want to do a getElementById(\'myitem[0].checked || myitem[1].checked etc. I think the solution must be along these lines. But I have run out of alternatives to try. Needless to say as it currently stands it gives the last radio button's value, which means it doesn't like them having the same id, but when I tried changing how the id was applied, or called - ElementByName, FF gives the error message as id is null. Hi I have been looking to create custom buttons in an alert box I would like them to say Go and Cancel instead of OK and cancel Code: onClick="if(confirm('Would you like to continue?')) i need to add an alert if the male is not selected in following after clicking on submit button Code: <html><head> </HEAD><BODY> <br><form name="feedback" method=post> Your Gender: <input type="radio" name="gender" value="male" id="male" /> Male <input type="radio" name="gender" value="female" id="female"CHECKED> Female</td> <input type='button' value='Submit' /> </form></BODY></HTML> so here is my "Project" for this class http://sw.cs.wwu.edu/~strickk/Project2/project2.html and here are the directions where im stuck at, just right click view source to see the code. I believe what i am doing wrong is where i enter my variables and i dont know how to get an alert message to pop up using an if statement as well as getting the values for the distances to show up correctly directions: 8. Now we will write some JavaScript to validate the input. We don’t want the user to be able to enter the same origin and destination city when they book a ticket. So we will use an if statement to check that. If they have entered the same origin and destination city then we will tell them that by using an alert statement and make them select again. All of your code to validate the input code goes in between the single quotes of the onClick event in the Calculate Fare button. Follow these steps: a) Assign the value of the origin city to a variable called origin Note that the value that gets assigned to origin is actually 0, 60, 90, 120 or 150 (and NOT Bellingham, Everett, Seattle etc.) since the value we gave to the each element of the list was its distance from Bellingham. This will make our lives easier later when we compute the fare. b) Assign the value of the destination city to a variable called destination in a similar fashion. c) Write an if statement that will test whether origin is equal to destination and if it is then do two things. i. Issue an alert message that says Please input different origin and destination cities ii. Stop the execution of the JavaScript code in the onClick event. Use return; as the second statement inside the if statement. Remember to use curly braces to denote that two statements are contained within the if statement. Your if statement will have the following structure to it. if (<put the test you want to do here>) { alert(<put the message here>); return; I have a bunch of checkboxes like below that the user can check some or all and click the button and see the values of all the selected checkboxes. How can I do that? Code: <script> function alertValues(){ } </script> <input type="checkbox" class ="normal2" value="131971" name="list[]" > <input type="checkbox" class ="normal2" value="131973" name="list[]" > <input type="checkbox" class ="normal2" value="131975" name="list[]" > <input type="checkbox" class ="normal2" value="131977" name="list[]" > <input type="button" onClick="alertValues()" I'm Confused. BUt if I delete this line: var gender = document.getElementsById('gender'); The form run properly, when submit button is click, it will hide the forms and replace by a thank you message but problem is the data send in the email is not the right value eg. in Gender: I select Female. BUt I receive Male as value. Why is that? for live demo: http://gbv.lifeandhealthbenefits.com/ for full Script Code: http://gbv.lifeandhealthbenefits.com/js/scripts.js I've been looking around and all the validation stuff I've seen doesn't work for what I have. Here is what I am trying to do: The user selects the Heads or Tails radio button for the first flip and then selects heads or tails radio button for the 2nd flip. The script then randomly flips two coins and compares it to what the user selected and if they are the same the user wins and if not then they lose. So there would be 4 buttons total, two Heads and two Tails. The first set of Heads and Tails needs to be assigned to "guess1" and the 2nd set is "guess2". So if the user clicks Tails for Flip1 and Heads for Flip2 then Tails is assigned to guess1 and Heads is assigned to guess2. Right now the script just assumes the user is selecting heads for both flips. Code: <html> <head> <title>Guess Two Coin Tosses</title> <script> function flip5(){ //Input var guess1 = document.getElementById('guess1').value var guess2 = document.getElementById('guess2').value var flip1 = Math.floor(Math.random() * 2) var flip2 = Math.floor(Math.random() * 2) var outcomes if (flip1 == 0) flip1 = 'Heads'; else flip1 = 'Tails'; if (flip2 == 0) flip2 = 'Heads'; else flip2 = 'Tails'; //Processing if (flip1.toUpperCase() == guess1.toUpperCase()) { if (flip2.toUpperCase() == guess2.toUpperCase()) outcomes = 'win win'; else outcomes = 'win lose'; } else { // here we lost the first if (flip2.toUpperCase() == guess2.toUpperCase()) outcomes = 'lose win'; else outcomes = 'lose lose'; } //Output document.getElementById('flip1').value = flip1 document.getElementById('flip2').value = flip2 document.getElementById('outcomes').value = outcomes } </script> </head> <body> <h3>Predict the Futu Guess Two Coin Flips</h3> Enter Heads for Heads, Tails for Tails! I'm creating a unit converter program using radio buttons and i can't seem to get one aspect working. i can't seem to get another set of radio buttons to display. the way the program is supposed to work is there will be 3 radio buttons saying to convert length, weight, and volume. if the user selects to convert weight, another set of radio buttons will appear with 2 options, to convert from pounds to kilograms, or kilograms to pounds. then the user enters the number in a text box and clicks to convert button. my problem is getting the second set of radio buttons to display. I have no clue how to get this to work. to get a better understanding of whats going on, here is the program without the radio buttons that i created. i'm trying to use radio buttons in place of the prompting message. Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title> Conversions of Weight and Length</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function clearMe() { var _s=top; var _d=_s.document; _d.open(); _d.write(""); _d.close(); } function main() { var repeat = confirm("Do you want to perform another conversion ? \r" + "<p><b>Note:</b> Pressing OK allows for another conversion, and pressing CANCEL exits</p>"); if(repeat==true) { convert(); } else { alert("Your program has been terminated!"); self.close(); } } function convert() { var unit, direction, value, result, original_units, new_units; document.write("<br/><br/>") document.write("Weight and Length conversion menu" + "<br/><br/>"); document.write("1. convert length" + "<br />"); document.write("2. convert weight" + "<br />"); document.write("3. convert volume" + "<br />"); unit = window.prompt("select conversion type: "); if ((unit<0) || (unit>3)) { alert("Select Menu option 1, 2, or 3!"); unit = window.prompt("Select conversion type: "); } switch (unit) { case '1': direction = choose_direction("<br /><br />1. Hi, I'm a year 11 student studying GCSE computing. I'm doing a project and I need to conduct some primary resarch, so I would be grateful if someone could explain to me how to go about coding radio buttons in a HTML web page which uses JavaScript. Thank you! I'm trying to implement a sort of login system with a small difference; instead of the traditional "enter username and password" code, I was wondering if it was possible to click on a radio button option for the username followed by a password? It was either this or something a lot simpler where you don't need to type in as a username at all, just a password. I added a photo to show a small mockup of what I want to achieve. Any help would be appreciated. Please and thanks! |
