JavaScript - Adding An Auto-resize Feature To Jquery Slide Show
I have found a jQuery slide show at http://tobia.github.com/CrossSlide/ which interests me because of its smooth, cross-browser fade transitions. I would like to add a feature which automatically resizes the images proportionally, to fit the browser window. This feature is demonstrated in the Supersized slide show at www.mauitradewinds.com, but I am not satisfied with the quality of fade transition with Supersized -- especially under Safari. I would appreciate any guidance as to how to implement auto-resizing with the Cross-slide plug-in. Additionally, it would help if Cross-slide launched the slide show without waiting for all images to load.

I tried modifying the code i got from the ajax demo to work for me, but i just couldnt do it as i do not know any javascript really.. ( actually what i tried was simply to change "#ajax-links a" to "#menu li a" and .html to .php ..but nothing.. Id be very gratefull if someone would help me out with this one. All related code can be found bellow (the ones that should be needed anyways): This is the code that retrieves php files inside "#content" when item from "#menu li a" with the specified id is clicked Code: $(document).ready(function(){ //References var change = $("#menu li a"); var loading = $("#loading"); var content = $("#content"); //Manage click events change.click(function(){ //show the loading bar showLoading(); //load selected section if(this.id == "home") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/index.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else if(this.id == "secondpage") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/secondpage.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else { //hide loading bar if there is no selected section hideLoading(); } }); //show loading bar function showLoading(){ loading .css({visibility:"visible"}) .css({opacity:"1"}) .css({display:"block"}) ; } //hide loading bar function hideLoading(){ loading.fadeTo(1000, 0); }; }); Heres the structure of the menu/content Code: <ul id="menu"> <li><a id="home" class="normal" href="#Home"></a></li> <li><a id="secondpage" class="normal" href="#Secondpage"></a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> <ul id="sec-menu"> <li><a id="link1" class="normal" href="#">Link1</a></li> <li><a id="link2" class="normal" href="#">Link2</a></li> </ul> </div> Heres the code that jquery history plugin uses in demo for ajax Code: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#content').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#ajax-links a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); Hi, I have been developing a show/hide feature on my companies web site for some time. I have so much code as to where I am confused when I need to add another slide function. I have provided the URL below to the page where the code exists. http://www.pjm.com/markets-and-opera...assistant.aspx This is where I get lost with the huge amount of code that I have. If you take a look under the second slider named "Electricity Markets" there is another slider underneath named "Energy Market". I need to add three more sliders right underneath in the same format under "Energy Market" If anyone can assists with this that would be great. I should have organized the code a lot better, so now I get lost within the code now. BTW, the show/hide feature really does not display well in Firefox, please try in IE. Thanks! Hi,,, Please help me out to do the image scrolling using jquery, where on onclick of button 5 image scroll at once then next 5 image will show. Good Day: I am very interested in a slide show as seen on this website (www.linksyssolutions.com). Can anyone direct me as to where I could find a script for this slideshow to use on my site. Thanks very much in advance. I need a sort of slide show feature for my page (specifics below). I've spent a lot of time researching this and have not found what I'm looking for. I'm new to jquery and not sure how big of a chore this will be, but here goes: 1. There will be a title bar placed within a right and left arrow on either side. 2. The right and left arrows should cycle through a list of titles (when the right/left arrow is clicked, the title bar will change to the next/previous title in the list). 3. When each title bar is moused over, a new image will fade in above, and then fade out on mouse out. I hope this all makes sense. I'm not looking for some fancy predesigned slideshow, I'll be using my own layout and images. I just need the basic code to perform these actions. Any help would be most appreciated.. I've got a client using JQuery pageslide function on a wordpress site - http://srobbin.com/blog/jquery-pageslide/ There is a sidebar menu on the left and about 5 pages in the right hand side. So you click one of the links on the sidebar menu and it slides to one of the 5 corresponding pages. I guess the 5 pages are all really one page though within the slider app? I'm wondering if it's possible to link directly to a page within the slider... because right now it always goes to the first page of the 5. And is there a way to program it so the back button in the browser makes the page slide go back to the previous page, rather than going to the last actual page in the browser? I have 4 images and these images are changing automatically with duration of 2 seconds with show hide animation. and there are 4 bullets with mentioned above 4 images. these bullets are highlighting for example if image number 1 is showing than bullet number 1 is highlighting. same thing for other 3 bullets and images please send me the code for it I've seen this really nice slider on www.formfiftyfive.com (when you click the links at the top i.e about, it will drop down revealing content) It moves the entire site rather than just overlay. I really like this and would love to implement it into my site? Any ideas what it is and how I can use it? K, I've worked to create an expandable banner that starts out big, then resizes to a smaller banner once the user clicks on it. However, I want it to auto resize on it's own after 5 or so seconds. It's done with JQuery, but I don't think there is an option in jQuery to auto resize (could be wrong). Someone mentioned it could be done with javascript. But can you mix the two? Thanks for your help. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".flip").click(function(){ $(".panel").slideDown("slow"); $(".flip").hide(function(){ }); }); }); </script> My slide show seem to not be initializing I used a base from webmonkey.com and tweaked it around to be exactly what I need and it won't start. Any ideas with whats wrong? here is my js Code: var interval = 1500; //1.5 secs var random_display = 0; //goes in order //defines where the images are stored var imageDir = "../image/slideshow1/"; //set images here var imageNum = 0; imageArray = new Array(); imageArray[imageNum++] = new imageItem(imageDir + "01.jpg"); imageArray[imageNum++] = new imageItem(imagedir + "02.jpg"); imageArray[imageNum++] = new imageItem(imagedir + "03.jpg"); imageArray[imageNum++] = new imageItem(imagedir + "04.jpg"); //find total amount of images using .length var totalImages = imageArray.length; function imageItem(image_location){ this.image_item = new Image(); this.image_item.src = image_location; } function get_ImageItemLocation(imageObj) { return(imageObj.image_item.src) } //This is used if random is set to 1 function randNum(x, y){ var range = y - x + 1; return Math.floor(Math.random() * range) + x; } //get next image function getNextImage(){ if(random_display){ imageNum = randNum(0, totalImages-1); } else{ imageNum = (imageNum+1) % totalImages; } //return the value now. var new_image = get_ImageItemLocation(imageArray[imageNum]); return (new_image); } function getPrevImage() { imageNum = (imageNum-1) % totalImages; var new_image = get_ImageItemLocation(imageArray[imageNum]); return (new_image); } function prevImage(place) { var new_image = getPrevImage(); document[place].src = new_image; } //function to switch images function switchImage(place){ var new_image = getNextImage(); document[place].src = new_image; var recur_call = "switchImage('"+place+"')"; timerID = setTimeout(recur_call, interval); } Here is the html with buttons to control the slideshow Code: <div id = "articles"> <div class= "new_article"> <img name="slideImg" src="image/slideshow1/01.jpg" style = "width:400px; height:200px;" border=0> <a href="#" onClick="switchImage('slideImg')">play slide show</a> <a href="#" onClick="clearTimeout(timerID)"> pause</a> <a href="#" onClick="prevImage('slideImg'); clearTimeout(timerID)"> previous</a> <a href="#" onClick="switchImage('slideImg'); clearTimeout(timerID)">next </a> </div> </div> Hello, I have a slide some on my page which contains some images. It scrolls through images fine but i would like to add some control buttons such as pause/play and scroll back Can anyone tell me how i could do this? i have inc my code cheers Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var image1=new Image() image1.src="image1.jpg" var image2=new Image() image2.src="toy2.jpg" var image3=new Image() image3.src="toy3.jpg" var image4=new Image() image4.src="toy4.jpg" var image5=new Image() image5.src="toy5.jpg" </script> </head> <style> body { background-image:url('logo2008.jpg'); I am trying to create a slide show which I learn from the JavaScript Tutorials - How to create a basic slide show. It work fine with 1 slide show but when I put 2 slide show in a web page (created 2 set of script), only 1 will work, what do I have to add in order for multiple slide show to work in a page? Below is the script, thank you. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var image1=new Image() image1.src="firstcar.gif" var image2=new Image() image2.src="secondcar" var image3=new Image() image3.src="thirdcar.gif" //--> </script> </head> <body> <img src="firstcar.gif" name="slide" width="100" height="56" /> <script> <!-- //variable that will increment through the images var step=1 function slideit(){ //if browser does not support the image object, exit. if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<3) step++ else step=1 //call function "slideit()" every 2.5 seconds setTimeout("slideit()",2500) } slideit() //--> </script> </body> </html> Hy every one, i need help .I have a program made in visual c++ witch detect motion and makes a file.jpg every time when detects something. I would like to make a web pages witch makes the autorefresh with the last image generated by this program. How do i do that with javascript? I think i must declare a golbal variable witch kepps the path to the most younger file, or to make a list witch keeps all the images and sort it ascended but i don't know how to make this in java script. Can enyone help me ?Thanks in advance Hi there, I am looking to retrieve the hieght of the browser window, so that when my index page loads, it will automatically resize an iframe that i have to fill the remaining hieght of the window. The image above shows the location of the iframe, and the problem that i am facing. Currently, the height of the iframe is hardcoded. On my laptop screen the iframe looks as if it fills the remaining 100% of the height. However, when viewing this page on my 17in monitor, there is now an ugly white space. I would like to be able to dynamically change the height of the iframe, so that it can fill up that white space with more iframe height. (1) shows the current hard-coded height of the iframe, and (2) shows the height that i would like to be able to retrieve using javascript. If i can get this value, then i assume all i then need to do is to substract the number of pixels that are taken up by the image, and the two nav bars at the top. Hopefully this would then give me the iframe filling up all available white space. The code i have currently to set the iframe height is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function setIframeHeight(iframeName) { var iframeWin = window.frames[iframeName]; var iframeEl = document.getElementById? document.getElementById(iframeName): document.all? document.all[iframeName]: null; if ( iframeEl && iframeWin ) { iframeEl.style.height = "auto"; // helps resize (for some) if new doc shorter than previous //var docHt = getDocHeight(iframeWin.document); // need to add to height to be sure it will all show iframeEl.style.height = 100 + "%"; alert(document.height); } } </script> </head> <body onload="setIframeHeight('ifrm');"> So, I am now able to change the height of the iframe when the page loads, i just now need to hopefully be able to get the value from (2) in the image, to make it all work out nicely. Is this possible? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance |
